Can We Broaden Our Compassion?

Posted by Michelle Moquin on August 18th, 2009

I read the comments last night and I felt somewhat how Gloria and Doug felt…This type of women’s abuse is not only happening in Congo but around the world, daily.  And we get focused in our own little worlds and what ever is happening in our own little worlds is what we live with daily. Thankfully the majority of us do not experience one little iota of abuse that women around the world experience.

I was disturbed at the lack of attention that the Congolese women were getting in the ‘Numbers’ that I quoted yesterday in my write, and quite  disturbed at the lack of attention that these same women got on my blog when I read the comments yesterday.

But then I woke up this morning and read from a different perspective.

Herbert: I hope that ‘exercising your demons’ on my blog helped. You certainly inspired the readers to write in and take action in the form of advice. (And by the way Herbert, I agree with Nell, I would’ve picked a different alias. :)

Wow, so much effort went to a complete stranger: Herbert. I can only hope that many of you ( I’m not counting on you George), will take that same passion that you have for Herbert’s  dilemma and support another cause that is meaningful to you. The desire to help someone is awesome.

Can you broaden your compassion and take it to another level when it comes to those outside of your own little worlds?  How about channeling it to something bigger, whether it is women in Congo or the environment, or something else? Being of service to someone or some cause can be one of the most fulfilling experiences. I can see that people want to reach out and help. I’m just asking that you take this passion to the next level.

Let me add, that I am not different from any of you.  I too focus on my own little world. It takes effort and time to reach out and be there for a person or a cause. It starts off as a selfless act, but I have learned that the more I do for others the more fulfilled I am in my life.  And because I am fulfilled by my actions, I want to do more. One doesn’t selflessly give to gain but what one gains by giving is priceless in regards to self fulfillment.  If we all gave more of ourselves and our time, how different this world would be.

Hmm…that is really all I have for this morning.

~~~~~~~~~~
Beth: I think it is clearer if you address the person you are speaking to in the body of the comment not in the ‘little box’.
Welcome back Billy. :)
Rick:  Sorry the pic wasn’t ‘enough’ for you. I rather liked it…love my hat, the bikini…all the bright colors. I think it looks good on my blog, as my summer shot.  Ah…I guess I can’t please every one.
Gratefully your blog host,
    hmmm, I’m glad you had a new perspective today, I didn’t – I tuned in last night and thought, great 30+ comments on such an important subject…then I read Herberts comment and frankly I wanted to put my size 9 up his ass. The man wouldn’t know good sex if he had it no matter how often it was given, it’s like that when your that self absorbed. All the ‘advice’ given afterwards was just other peoples opinions on what constitutes cheating, a subjective perspective to me, bc if you haven’t had sex with each other in 3 years you’ve got no bidness calling what you’re doing a marriage anyway, just my opinion.
    How about hearing more about those Congolese women or health care?
    Sorry if that’s a bit ornery bit I am totally with Gloria and Doug on this one.
    Caio! Zen Lill
  2. Anonymous Says:
    Hi Michelle,
    I am completely appalled at the situation the Congolese women are in.
    It is no secret what is happening in the Congo, that being said, it saddens and angers me that not many seem to care.
    Take yesterday for example, the fact that poor Herbert wasn’t getting laid seemed so much more important to your readers than the atrocities going on in Africa. It sure is a lot easier to talk about. Sorry Herb, nothing personal, but I would like to see Zen Lill put her size 9 up your chute.
    How could you post something so trivial in light of yesterdays topic?
    It is a free world and you can talk about any fucking thing you want to. And whatever you wanna say is none of my friggin’ business.
    I have difficulty understanding cruelty, for cruelty’s sake. Man’s inhumanity to man for profit or pleasure, I can only ask why? Are we animals? It won’t be too long before survival of the fittest will be re-applied to all of us. I would guess.
    It was good to see that our Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton gave this problem some recognition by going there and speaking out.
    Something must be done to stop this barbaric behavior by somebody. Maybe Clinton’s visit will do some good and get some wheels rolling.
    I like what you had to say about altruism and compassion. I too, find that selflessly reaching out to help another very rewarding and gratifying.
    Your blog has given me opportunities to at least petition for some good causes. Causes that I otherwise was either unaware of, or had no idea how, or who to petition to.
    So thanks for helping me to be of some help.
    Not being much of an activist, and with limited mobility, I usually do whatever I will at a more local level.
    I think your blog is reaching a lot of people and is an important source.
    Michelle, I’m not just kissing your ass either, you know I won’t do that. You do do a lot of good work. Keep it up.
  3. Doug Says:
    Al,
    Wonderfully stated! Your work, your way is much more than most make and you should be proud!
    Nice…
  4. Doug Says:
    Lil,
    I would enjoy the view of the ol’ size 9 in Georges ASS as well! I never knew you could be ornery…?
  5. Zen Lill Says:
    Doug, it’s a rare occurrence, me being ornery, I guess self absorbed asses bring out the worst in me : ) I would offer by size 9 up George’s ass as well bit I think he’d enjoy it too much. Besides, Gloria is busy working on getting that med bottle up in there.
    Alfonzo, I’ll give you a bravo on your remark above. Well said.
    Herbert, why don’t you get your fingers or anyone else’s fingers out of your ass and think about people, (women of the Congo perhaps) who live in terror everyday? No one cares if you cheat or your wife cheats, you two probably don’t even notice each other unless your personal view in the mirror is being blocked, hahaha…
    Wow, I’m still feeling ornery…kind of feels good, I’ve gotten too easy going, too Zen : )
  6. George Says:
    Michelle, you and some others may wish to put me down, but I represent the majority of the white world. We could give a shit about what happens to niggers, spics, camel niggers, kikes, slopes, wet backs, and the mud people.
    We are the master race. I am just the one who has no problem admitting it.
    If you think differently, look at the news media. You are practically the only one concerned. None of the major networks gives a shit unless it impacts something we as the master race need.
    Those bitches in the Congo have no value since they have no economic return we can profit from. Those whites that even bother to mention the niggers in the Congo do it to reflect on their dissatisfaction that the chinks are profiting in an area that used to be the sole privilege of the white race.
    Face it, If it doesn’t impact the white race, it is unimportant to us what happens on this planet. Why do you think we now have a major ground swell to stop that nigger Obama. The white man’s mantra is “We want our country back.”
    We as a race could give a shit about health care, the economy or the fucking world. We want that nigger out.
    White and proud of it.
    George
  7. Milton Says:
    Okay Michelle I changed my name. I am sorry you didn’t feel that my plight was important.
    My wife lied to me and I thought that since I have been reading your blog for six months that I could go there for solace.
    Your readers saw my need and ventured to help a person close to them rather than espouse on a subject that they probably felt was nothing they could effect.
    I actually found the advice to be very educational. I have taken some of the advice.
    I tied the bitch up. Now I can have her whenever I wish. When I am finish, I will dispose of the slut and get me another whenever I choose.
    Why should I have all this money if I can’t have what I want? George maybe we should meet and share in the plunder. The world is full of free pussy. A real man just has to have the balls to reach out and take it.
    I feel so empowered. I want to thank all you who wrote in to say I needed to take stock of me. Hell, why should I wait until I have disposed of the bitch.
    I will add to my pleasure with a few more bitches before I send that bitch to her just desserts. Let her watch me fuck for a change.
    George if you would like a taste of the bitch we can work something out.
    The MAN
    Milton
  8. Becky Says:
    God, George, you are a real man. I too want my country back. I can hardly sleep at night knowing a nigger occupies the White House that we whites built.
    What have we done?
    I hope someone does what it takes to get our country back soon. This will not stand. Decent, God fearing whites are not going to stand for this travesty.
    Pat Buccanan said it right. The white man built this country. We tolerate the others. Now our good nature has allowed us to let the jews put a nigger in the White House.
    White men you need to unite and take our country back.
    White and proud of it.
    Becky
  9. Steve Says:
    Now we have a topic that needs to be addressed. Yes George, you got it right. I, too, am tire of this concerned for the “OTW.” Fuck’em!
    This is a white man’s country. Thank you Becky for knowing your place. It is the WHITE MAN who has to wake up and take his country back.
    White women know that we will take care of them once we have our country back. Obama is an example of what can happen when we as white men allow our women to be fucked by inferior species.
    The country was once plagued by jews praying on our women by passing themselves off as white men. Now we have the mud people. I hate them more than I do the jews.
    They pass themselves off as white simply because they were born able to look white. Let me state plainly.
    If you are the product of the union between a white man and an OTW you are not white, even if you can pass for white. You may be better than a pure nigger or jew, but you are NOT white.
    If you are the product of a OTW and a white woman, whether you can pass or not, you are shit. You are worse than a nigger or a jew.
    White women are the sole property of WHITE MEN. White women who lie down with dogs will answer to us when the revolution comes.
    We will take our country back.
    White and proud of it.
    Steve
  10. Claire Says:
    Wow!
    My sister told me that this blog was a wild anything goes pot of anger, love, aliens and whatever Michelle could stir up, but Damn. This stuff this morning has me lit.
    As a white woman, the vitriolic racial comments scare and amuse me. White men want their country back?
    What for comes to mind? You incompetent wimps had it as you exclusive bailiwick for more than 200 years.
    Hell, you had the world as your exclusive playground. Look at what you have wrought. You can’t even take responsibility for the mess you have left the world in.
    You whine about a “nigger” in the White House. Look at what he has done in less than six months. White men have had control of the White house for the other 43 times.
    Can any of you honestly say we were better off? If it weren’t for the fact that 99 of the Senators were white we would have real health care now.
    I have only white friends because of the part of the country I live in, I wanted to vote for Obama but my racism prevented me from doing so. It will not come 2012.
    This racist diatribe has made me see that we as whites need to stop being manipulated by those who wish to profit from bigotry.
    White and proud of it.
    Claire
  11. Jack Says:
    Our women will learn that white men are their salvation. Michelle, you have been mislead. It is okay to feel something for the mud people but you need to keep in mind that you are WHITE.
    There is only so much that can be done for those people. They are incapable of running the world. This is what God intended. I am a Mormon. We know what God has in mind for the world.
    Even we were forced to allow niggers and mud people into our mists. But we know what God intends. We are these peoples’ stewards. Without us chaos would rein.
    Don’t be so hard on the Georges of your blog. They are simply speaking the minds of the majority of us. We silently thank them for reminding the inferior races not to get to proud and to remember their place less they offend God.
    We are the arm of God, It is the burden He placed on us by making us the superior race.
    Jack
