Hey! Move Over!

Posted by Michelle Moquin on February 10th, 2010

I have been in bed with a cold since Sunday so my writes have been kept to a minimum, therefore I have not addressed any of you of lately. When I am feeling better I’ll spend more time with you. :) However, you all seem to be doing just fine carrying on amongst yourselves, so please continue…

Oh, and while you’re out there driving around to work or where ever, here’s a little something that you might want to be aware of:

The ‘Move-over’ law. It is a law that has been in effect for a few years in different parts of the country, and now in California,  the “Move-over” law became effective on January 1, 2010.

Important Law to Share: Move Over, America

I wanted to let my friends know about the CA move over law. My son got a ticket on Pleasant Hill coming back from Wal-Mart. A  police car (turned out it was 2 police cars) was on the side of the road giving a ticket to someone else. My son slowed down to pass but did not move into the other lane. The second police car immediately pulled him over and gave him a ticket. My son and I had never heard of the law. It is a fairly new law that states if any emergency vehicle is on the side of the road, if you are able, you are to move into the far lane.

The cost of the ticket was $754, with 3 points on your license and a mandatory court appearance.

Please let everyone you know that drives about this new law. It is true (see details at the following web address). It states that except two states, all the other US states (even Canada) enacted similar kind of law.

Snopes verified.

Forewarned is forearmed.

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my ‘loyal’(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.

Gratefully your blog host,

    MILK THISTLE FOR LIVER HEALTH

Milk thistle — a totally natural remedy that comes from a Mediterranean plant called Silybum marianum — has long been used to prevent or improve a wide number of liver disorders, including problems caused by excess alcohol, hepatitis A, drugs or work-related toxins. A concentrated extract is among the most widely researched botanicals used in the treatment of liver disorders, particularly viral hepatitis. Europeans have used milk thistle to treat liver disorders for more than 2,000 years… and in fact the German government officially recognized it as a medicine for liver problems more than 20 years ago. Now a recent lab study from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) demonstrated that an extract of milk thistle reduced oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Oxidation of LDL is what leads to the build up of plaque in blood vessels, so follow-up research in humans will be conducted to further ascertain if milk thistle is protective.
I called herbal expert, Mark Blumenthal, executive director of the American Botanical Council in Austin, Texas, to find out more. Blumenthal told me the LDL finding wasn’t surprising in that research about milk thistle is so often “full of good news.” But he cautions against over-enthusiasm, noting that lab tests should always be understood to demonstrate a possible mechanism that might occur in the human body.
Blumenthal says that milk thistle is remarkably good for the liver, especially in people who have a family history of liver disease or other reason to be concerned about their liver health — but he cautions that all brands are not equally good. He advises looking for those containing 70% to 80% silymarin, the collective term for the three compounds in milk thistle that contain the protective antioxidants. He adds that a typical dosage prescribed as a part of a treatment regimen is three capsules of 140 mg each per day.
A common adverse effect is more frequent and loose stools, which may be due to the fact that milk thistle stimulates increased bile production in the liver, which affects regularity. If it is a problem, reduce dosage. Blumenthal sees no problem with long-term usage of milk thistle, but agrees it is always best to take this and all supplements under the supervision of your health care provider.

Nice Picture. Doug is a lucky man.

I tried to get in all day yesterday, but couldn’t do it. So here is my try today with a new article from the right. John Dennis is running against Pelosi in the 6th District. Here is an example of their campaign strategy.

    Dear Fellow Concerned American:

I want to remind you of the scariest words in Washington – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. If that name still causes you to squirm, get angry and grind your teeth, then keep reading.

Like you, I’m tired of waking up every day to see Nancy Pelosi and her cronies work to fulfill the agenda of Barack Obama without regard for how it chips away at our national sovereignty, undermines our national economy and mortgages our children’s future. As a father, I’m worried about how their actions will impact my daughter, your children and future generations of Americans.

My concerns for our nation’s welfare are not strictly based on my affiliation with the Republican Party, but as a father, small business owner and patriotic American. I’m concerned that we continue to lose our rights and liberties daily as Washington politicians, led by Speaker Pelosi, want to force us to submit to socialism.

I’m a proud American who wants our nation to succeed in the vision of our Founding Fathers and refuses to see it continue down this wayward course of a death spiral.

That’s why I’m running for Congress against Nancy Pelosi.

You may think that a campaign of this nature is a lofty, unrealistic goal, but I believe that during these difficult economic times, the people of California’s 8th Congressional District deserve a Congressman who will represent their interests and that of America. In fact, I’m so confident that I can win this race for several reasons, that I’ve seeded the campaign with my hard-earned savings before I asked anyone for a dollar.

Just a few weeks ago, Nancy Pelosi was quoted in the venerable, inside-the-beltway newspaper, The Hill, stating, “I’m in campaign mode.”

Well, I can’t imagine why any Member of Congress, let alone the Speaker of the House would feel the need to boast about being in campaign mode, unless we were giving her a reason to worry. I think the people of the 8th District are starting to feel like the rest of my campaign team and America-it’s time for Nancy to RETIRE!

After all, millions of patriotic Americans have refused to remain quite while Pelosi’s Congress files bill after bill seeking to strip us of our individual liberties. Fortunately, there are still some of us who know what individual liberty, limited government, and the free markets mean to the success of this great Republic.

That’s why I need your help to ensure we get this message out to tens of thousands of voters in this district as well as to the millions of liberty-loving Americans who want Nancy Pelosi to retire. Will you please contribute to the fund to retire Nancy Pelosi by supporting my campaign TODAY?

Every day, millions of Americas are now waking up to these realities and are ready to join us in taking back OUR government. It starts by removing those in power who are more concerned with their stranglehold on power, than their oath to OUR Constitution.

While the dollar has weakened over 35%, destroying our nation’s purchasing power and savings, Pelosi and her cronies were seeking ways through Pelosicare and other initiatives, to tax my daughter and future generations of Americans into lifelong debt.

The Federal government spends relentlessly, starting with Pelosi’s rides on private Gulftstream jets and fresh flowers for her office, while Americans starved, unemployment now exceeds 10% and law-abiding citizens went without proper medical care.

We continue to send troops in harm’s way, in a muddled, unconstitutional nation-building morass, with no end in sight. Simultaneously, Pelosi takes lead from President Obama, and the European NGO’s in attempt to commit our wealth, unconstitutionally, to a tax scheme for the World Bank and IMF.

Nancy Pelosi rams health care “reform” legislation down our throats that will only worsen a problem and increase healthcare rationing, with a projection of costs that grows exponentially on a daily basis. The problem was first, CAUSED by the government, and will NEVER be solved by the government.

In spite of all of the bad news, I see signs of hope.

Activism and peaceful protests against all of the Federal government’s shenanigans are increasing. We must use this energy to beat back Nancy Pelosi and force her into retirement..

My lifelong experiences in life, international business, and civic involvement have prepared me to go to Washington and unwind that mess. I’ve already spent time meeting with international businessman, leaders and understand the global impact we have on other nations.

Our campaign to retire Nancy Pelosi is a personal one.

After all, the welfare of my daughter, your children and grandchildren are at stake. We cannot allow Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and their Democratic machine to strip us of our individual liberties while they continue to increase our national debt and jeopardize our national security.

    The repercussions are unimaginable!

Our campaign is breaking new ground daily. We’ve already received endorsements that reflect the uniting force of liberty, as well as demonstrate our ability to win.

    That’s right – I said win.

So please join the campaign and help in any way you can. Please follow this link to make a generous contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or any amount you can afford to give. The federal maximum contribution is $2400 per person, but any amount is appreciated.

Remember, the money we raise won’t match Pelosi’s war chest or the support she’ll receive from PACs and K Street lobbyists, but I know your support comes with the energy of liberty-loving Americans who are ready to take back control of the Congress.

Together we can retire Nancy Pelosi this coming November! Thank you.

    Yours in liberty,

    John Dennis

    Candidate for Congress
    California’s 8th Congressional District

P.S.This is your moment to decide the very future of this country and our national sovereignty! Pelosi will have a coalition of unions, pharmaceutical companies and other special interest groups funding her campaign in an effort to keep her where they need her-in the Speaker’s Chair. That’s why I need your immediate support TODAY. Please follow this link to make your contribution of $25, $50, $100 or $250 right away. Thank you.

You may also mail your contributions to:

    John Dennis for Congress

Federal law requires political committees to do their best efforts to obtain and report the name, mailing address, occupation and employer for each individual whose contributions aggregate in excess of $200 in an election cycle. Contributions to John Dennis for Congress are not deductible as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes. Contributions from corporations and foreign nationals are prohibited.

The right have no limitations to what they will say or do to win.

  4. Sonja Says:

I read very thing I can find on eyesight. My family has a history of early blindness so I worry a lot about me and the rest of my family. I found this on the web.
    =====================================
    Flowers for your eyes

A British optician claims he cured his blindness with marigolds.

I know — this sounds like quackery. But bear with me for a moment, because there’s more to this than a field of golden flowers.

Harry Marsland, 73, was diagnosed with one of the most frightening conditions facing seniors: age-related macular degeneration. He lost the vision in his right eye to the more serious and far less common “wet” version of the condition, and the vision in his left to “dry” AMD.

But after taking a marigold-based supplement, he can not only see through his left eye — he can drive and read, too, according to a report in Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.

And it’s not as far-fetched as it sounds. Marigolds contain meso-zeaxanthin, which has shown some promise when it comes to fighting vision problems. His supplement also contained lutein and zeaxanthin, two key phytonutrients linked to healthy eyes.

But since he had already tried those other ingredients before, he credits his success to the addition of meso-zeaxanthin. Because of his success, the Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland is now conducting clinical trials on these supplements. I’ll keep you updated.

If you’re facing AMD, work with your doctor to find the right nutritional supplement for your eyes — because, as this case shows, sometimes it’s just a matter of finding the right blend of missing nutrients.

Of course, the real key to fighting AMD is to win the battle before it even starts by making sure your eyes have all the nutrients they need to stay healthy now.

You’ve probably heard that carrots are great for your eyes – and they are rich in beta-carotene, which you certainly need. But to really lower your risk for vision problems, you’re going to have to go far beyond Bugs Bunny’s favorite snack.

One recent study found diets rich in vitamins C and E, zinc, lutein, zeaxanthin and omega-3 fatty acids can significantly lower your risk for age-related macular degeneration. That means eating more leafy greens, nuts, beans, fruit, eggs and especially fatty fish. Add a supplement if you have a hard time getting any of these nutrients from your food.

Other studies have found that — in addition to the nutrients I just mentioned — you should also make sure you’re getting enough copper, which you’ll find in nuts, liver and shellfish.

Guam – The Guam Power Authority and the Guam Waterworks Authority starting Monday will begin disconnecting past due accounts in Dededo, Yigo, Latte Heights and Barrigada Heights.

If you’re 30 days late in paying your bill, you’re advised to take care of it as soon as possible to avoid disconnection. If they do pull the plug, it could take more than one day for your power or water to be restored.

Hafa adai Peter. I know how much you love your island. I have enjoyed reading your passionate pleas for the US to give it some slack.

Well here is some more bad news. There is something going down that has everyone antsy. There will be something happen on Guam for the 22 to the first of March. It is rumored that Obama will meet with an alien ambassador when he arrives on the march 19th.

I would be careful roaming the streets of Guam at night between Feb 22 and March 1.

  8. Lacy Says:

My cousin sent me this. It is interesting. Food for thought.

    Spices may fight breast cancer
Forget the latest radioactive technology — the real answer to breast cancer could be in some spices that have been in use for thousands of years.

New research finds that compounds in turmeric and black pepper may decrease the growth of stem cells responsible for breast cancer tumors, while leaving normal cells alone.

There’s a big caveat here: This is early research, and it was done on breast cells — not on people.

So we need to see some more studies before anyone can say for sure if these spices can really fight or prevent breast cancer. But you don’t need to wait to make both of these great spices a natural part of your diet. They already have plenty of proven health benefits. Plus, they both taste great.

Curcumin, the key compound in turmeric, is a natural anti- inflammatory. It’s been shown to help fight stomach problems and may even help treat and prevent Alzheimer’s disease. It’s also shown promise in fighting pancreatic, colorectal and esophageal cancers. You’ll often find turmeric in curry dishes, but you can also learn to incorporate it into your own recipes.

Most Americans are more familiar with black pepper… but they may not realize that salt’s lesser-used companion is actually a powerful antioxidant. Some studies have shown that it may even help prevent colon cancer.

Black pepper can also stimulate helpful stomach acids to improve digestion, and can even reduce flatulence.

They say variety is the spice of life… but it just may be that a variety of spice will improve, or even save, your life.

On a mission for your health,
