White Women Can’t Jump

Posted by Michelle Moquin on February 11th, 2010

Just a play on words, because in reality, any woman can’t jump….in the 2010 Winter Olympics that is. Women are not allowed to ski jump. Why? Well simply, because they’re women.

The record for the normal ski jumping hill at the site of the Winter Olympics this year is held by Lindsey Van, a woman. She is considered the best woman ski jumper in the world but Van won’t be competing in a few weeks.  The three ski jumping events in the Winter Olympics are strictly for men only. They are being totally excluded and many organizations just sweep the issue under the rug. Just another reminder in our daily lives that women are discriminated against.

Van runs a group of American women jumpers that fly higher and longer than any other team, yet they can’t jump in the one competition that matters the most to them: The Olympics. But the girls continue to do what they love, by competing in what they can,  in spite of a lack of resources.  While the boys stay in nice hotels, the girls are thrown  in barns with leaky roofs and no hot water, no heat.  Just another reminder in our daily lives that women are considered second class.

‘In 2009  the International Ski Federation made history by hosting a world championship for Women’s ski jumping. Van became the first American, male or female, ever to win gold in the event.’

But before this was ever even possible, it was quite the challenge. Before the Ski Federation voted to host the event, the president of the organization questioned whether is was healthy for women to jump.  “It’s like jumping down from two meters on the ground about a thousand times a year, which seems not to be appropriate for ladies from a medical point of view’. Oh give me a break. Now all of a sudden, men are so concerned about women’s health when women’s health is so disregarded when it comes to our care? Just another reminder in our daily lives that men continually try to  control and hold women down in life.

And to all you men out there who are thinking, “Michelle is such a man hater!” Not true. I will give credit where credit is due. Unfortunately there isn’t much due out there that I have seen lately aside from Obama, and a few others.

I do love men – some men. I just hate the way many men treat women. I just want women to have the same rights and opportunities that men have every day. Is that so wrong? Is that too much to ask for? Wouldn’t men be a little pissy if the roles were reversed?

If women don’t fight for the very basic simple things in life…if men continue to chip away at what little rights we have….women will just continually be pushed and pushed by men, as far back as the stone age.

This story isn’t about the quick in-your-face physical abuse of women, women struggling just to stay alive, like so many of the stories I write about. No this story is a slow death from emotional abuse…one that eats away at a woman’s personal drive. Both are challenging, and by no means am I saying that they are equally challenging. My point being, is that it is amazing how much abuse, at any level, women endure and they still come out fighting and standing strong.

We have to. Men, some men….they will take us back as far as they can – we know this by now.

Damn women are so disrespected as you have shown in your article. It is so depressing. Speaking of being depressed. If you think you are not taking Prozac, when your doctor prescribes Effexor as mine did, you are still taking Prozac by another name.

We, as women get no respect. I love this blog. It is for women, first, Someone or something should to help level the playing field. I am sick and tired of hear those women who say, women are as much to blame as men.

As if we rape ourselves, pay us less ourselves, you name it the shit we have to suffer through is because of the selfishness of men. Sure women can be catty. But how does that effect my ability to feed my family like a man can his.

The reason he can do it better is because other men pay him more for the same work. I am sick of women apologists for men. If you want to suck a man’s dick do it in the privacy of your own home. We don’t need to hear it. Besides if you think that men appreciate you being on their side, You are sorely wrong.

They see you as an easy piece of meat.

IHOW TO GET (AND GIVE) MORE LOVE IN YOUR LIFE

Even with rampant commercialization, Valentine’s Day remains a sweet tradition. Love really does fill the air. Its presence creates a gentle energy that brightens even gray February days. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could carry this gift of warmth and compassion throughout the rest of the year by demonstrating it daily — not just to our romantic attachments but to all the people we care about? More compassion in our thoughts and actions could even enhance how we interact with people we meet casually. According to life coach and regular Daily Health News contributor Lauren Zander, it’s quite easy to “spread the love” — and when you become more loving, you’ll also bring more love your way.
    WHERE ARE YOU NOW?
The first step, as always, is self-evaluation, says Lauren. At present, where are you on the loving scale? She suggests answering this question via an evaluation she asks her clients to do for all areas of their lives: Decide if the way you show love through your general presence and behavior in various interactions merits a “plus,” a “zero” (neutral) or a “minus.” “The attitude and mood that you show the world has everything to do with the inner workings and dialogue in your head at a given moment,” she explains. If you think unkind thoughts about people with whom you interact or pass on the street… or if you’re feeling cranky or irritable, you project those feelings in ways you may be unaware of. Others then may assume you are distracted, too busy for them or too absorbed in your own mind… anticipating rejection, they may decide that you aren’t a person they want to be around. This turns into an unspoken interaction based on assumptions on both sides (which may not even be true) that inserts a wedge into your relationship or puts a damper on a fleeting moment with someone you might never see again. In Lauren’s view, it was an opportunity to connect that you’ve allowed to pass you by.
Lauren explains that we all project a certain type of energy — it might be dramatic and demanding, sullen and withdrawn, panicky and overwhelmed, or critical and judgmental. To identify the energy you project, take some time to investigate your deepest feelings about the most important people in your daily life. Are you genuinely pleased to get home at night and to arrive at your office in the morning? Do you truly enjoy chatting or playing with your children or lunching with your colleagues? Ask the people closest to you for their perceptions. Do they consider it a pleasure when you come through the door… or is your presence, in fact, a little scary to them? Or do they think you are too busy and don’t really make room for them in your life?
Lauren says that it is stinginess that keeps people from making room for more love in their lives. We tend to ask what others have done for us — to wonder why we must make the first effort to be more loving. We play the tit-for-tat game … “Why should I give my spouse a big hello in the evening? He/she barely looks at me when I walk in the door!” Or, we’re simply afraid to show warmth and caring, so we convince ourselves that we’re too busy or that it isn’t important. Breaking free of this self-imposed trap requires getting out of your comfort zone and being willing to create new habits. “It takes a lot to challenge yourself to be different,” Lauren says. Although being loving greatly enhances the quality of life, she acknowledges that getting there can be difficult. “Our natural inclination is to stay the same, and it requires a lot of effort to get beyond the place where emotional stinginess keeps us.”
    BRING IN THE LOVE
No matter how high you are on your loving scale, Lauren urges you to aim higher. “Become the person you want to know… the parent you wish you had… the friend, sibling, coworker you want to have now.” It’s okay to be the one who takes the first step.
Lauren says we all need to be willing to go out on a limb and take some risks. For example, saying “thank you” and giving compliments offer countless opportunities to show love and appreciation and, as Lauren says, people can’t hear them often enough. If you don’t know what to do or how to start, make an effort to find something nice to say to the people you see each day. Send three e-mails right now, expressing thanks — for a past effort, for something done or said or, for that matter, just appreciation for who someone is. “Find sincere things to say that you haven’t said before,” says Lauren. She adds that the workplace, with its many ongoing relationships, is a good arena to show more caring — maybe surprising a co-worker with a small token of thanks, such as a fancy coffee or a chocolate bar. At home, let family members know that they are important to you with everyday, simple but meaningful gestures every day — even just looking up to make eye contact and greet your spouse or child with a warm smile and honest words of concern and interest. Once you get going, you will think of many creative ways to form warmer relationships.
Here’s a practical tip to get you started: Mailing a card is a terrific way to share loving thoughts — but when the need strikes, the card store may be far away. Lauren suggests purchasing a box of blank cards and keeping a book of stamps in the drawer so you’re ready to send a note any time you think of it. “Just a simple line to say you are missing the person or how you would love to see his or her smile… that’s all you have to say,” she explains.
When we allow ourselves to experience deep love and caring in our hearts, we will feel it for others — and for life itself. It creates a whole new level of joy. “The sweeter you are yourself, the sweeter your life will be,” says Lauren.

I like the picture too Michelle. I am in love. Those dreamy eyes and that lady killer smile. I blew up your picture and took it to bed with me. I haven’t done that since I was a teenager. Have you ever been loved by a woman?

You have a large following in Atlanta. Your picture is hung in our favorite bar. Someone made a copy of a picture holding a puppy while back, but it was debated as to its authenticity that was until this one appeared.

It’s real alright. I can’t wait to get my copy.

  6. Zen Lill Says:

Hi Mischa, you’re quite welcome! You’ve attracted some attention from some admirers ; ) maybe a guest appearance in Atlanta would be a fan pleaser!

…and you went out dancing on a GNO and the schmucks all chose the blondie?! I’ll never understand that, but it is an ocuurence in my life as well and you are far better looking, no doubt about it. In Nashville, I was dancing with 35 women (just no men in our corps) and a male approached me and asked to dance, we were all kind of surprised, after the dance, he walked me up to the bar and set up a tab for me and ‘whoever knows you’ to drink all night on him, at first I said no, when he asked why not I couldn’t think of a good reason, he said no strings attached just have fun and dance with me ocassionally, hmmm, ok. Then he told me, he lost a bet, he bet I was of average height with 5″ heels on, he shook his Southern gent head and just said, ‘I never have seen legs that long in person before’ – cool, now you have, I wonder if it was worth the $400 tab though…

Re: above article, it sounds like some officials needs my 201 ski up their ass, and medically speaking, why would male equipment handle being bounced up and down 1000 x’s a year be any different, and isn’t it a personal choice how many times who bounces their what and when? WTF?

Doug2, Josh more or less told you off but I just wanted to ask one q: why are you so filled with self loathing? Only people who hate themselves would be so in-yer-face with someone else about some perceived (your perception)fault. I’ll tell you this: if I had CARR in my life I’d probably be pretty goofy about all the insider knowledge I’d be privy to, maybe that’s why Howie has him in his life and I do not have him in mine : ) so my point to you is, and it has been said to me here by Mischa and Anonz and maybe others as well, be gentle on yourself, kind to yourself, bc only then can you extend that to others who may have a differing viewpoint. I know you didn’t ask for my advice so you can feel free to tell me to FRO : )

Bob (and others) – just wanted to tell you this: long ago, 1930′s, Dale Carnegie wrote ‘How to win friends and influence people’ and it was an international bestseller, still is, and one thing he wrote about was – how the greatest sound in the world is the sound of your name, when someone calls it, you see it in writing, it’s special – and I can totally understand why someone writing here would want to be acknowledged by Mischa (and others) bc it means you are recognized – in some small way – and humans dig that. I have a personal relationship with Mischa and so it’s not as important, we get our phone time, but still it even gives me a charge to see it, and I think my ego is very much in check and humbled out these days…

    Al, hanging left today?

Caio for now, Luv, Zen Lill

I love the new look. But when I blew it up. I noticed lights shooting from your face into your hands or vice-versa. What is that all about? Was Howie right? Are you a “cyborg” or something?

You are most definitely a beautiful woman. I find it difficult to believe that your husband isn’t a tad nervous, if not jealous whenever you go out on those GNOs. I am an undergrad at the University of Sao Paulo. We have very beautiful girls here and throughout Brazil.

But you can hold your own with any of them. You are a big hit here in Brazil, the Objet du désir. The guys here are calling you the girl from Ipanema or rather a menina do ipanema que anda e fala com a beleza. The girl from Ipanema who walks and speaks with beauty.

Carnation milk – 65 YEARS AGO .. This is choice!

A little old lady from Wisconsin had worked in and around her family dairy farms since she was old enough to walk, with hours of hard work and little compensation.

When canned Carnation Milk became available in grocery stores in approximately the 1940s, she read an advertisement offering $5,000 for the best slogan. The producers wanted a rhyme beginning with
“Carnation Milk is best of all.”

She thought to herself, I know all about milk and dairy farms. I can do this!

She sent in her entry, and several weeks later, a black limo pulled up in front of her house. A man got out and said, “Carnation LOVED your entry so much, we are here to award you $2,000 even though we will not be able to use it!”

“Carnation milk is best of all
no tits to pull, no hay to haul
no buckets to wash, no shit to pitch
just poke a hole in the son-of-a-bitch”

  9. Maggie Says:

Here’s Rush the druggie plugging the GOP’s opponent for Harry Reid’s job.
    ==============================================
    Fellow Conservative,

Harry Reid has been the Democrats’ leader for their radical, left wing agenda being forced through Congress. Our country desperately needs to kick Harry Reid out of office and replace him with someone who will fight for conservative principles.

I can’t think of anyone more qualified for the job than Sue Lowden. She has been a good friend to me and to the conservative movement for years, that’s why I recently endorsed her in a post on National Review’s The Corner. I know that she has strong conservative principles rooted in her personal faith and her belief in free-market ideals.

I’m not the only conservative who believes Sue Lowden can defeat Harry Reid. Sean Hannity recently had Sue on his radio show and Fox News show — on the same day. Hannity called Sue Lowden the “future senator from the great State of Nevada.” Matt Lewis of Townhall.com said, “Reid must figure he’d really have his hands full with former Republican state senator Sue Lowden.” And Weekly Standard magazine wrote that Sue can “face the coming Harry Reid onslaught” because “she has proven politically fearless.”

In Sue’s most recent conversation with Rush Limbaugh, Rush told Sue that he thought she could beat Harry Reid and was encouraged by her campaign. Will you join Sue Lowden’s campaign to kick Harry Reid out of the Senate by making a contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 or more today?

As a strong conservative, who defeated the sitting state Senate Majority Leader in her home state, Sue served as chair of the state taxation committee. When pro-tax legislators tried to push through higher taxes, she blocked their efforts, and her panel became known as the “no-taxation” committee. Lowden fought against higher taxes in the state senate, and I have no doubt she will fight against higher taxes in the U.S. Senate.

Sue is staunchly opposed to taxpayer funding of abortion and she is a strong opponent of the Reid/Obama “stimulus” spending bill. She proudly signed tax cut and government reform pledges from conservative groups including Americans for Tax Reform, Americans for Prosperity, Club for Growth, and Citizens Against Government Waste.

Will you join Sue Lowden’s campaign to kick Harry Reid out of the Senate by making a contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 or more today?

Sue Lowden was endorsed by the NRA in her campaign for state senate, while her primary opponent Danny Tarkanian received an “F” from the NRA in his last failed campaign. The NRA defines an “F” as someone who is a “true enemy of gun owners’ rights.” Tarkanian has made a lot of false claims about Sue. In fact, The Las Vegas Review-Journal described Tarkanian’s rhetoric as “more elbows than accuracy.”

This is a critical moment when we must have the good judgment to stand behind the right conservative candidates who can win in November. There is a great uprising coming from the American people. We are ready to work and ready to earn real change, not only in government but also in the direction our economy and our country are headed. There is no better leader to join us in this effort than Sue Lowden – the right candidate to defeat Harry Reid.

    Sincerely,

    Saul Anuzis
    A Conservative American

P.S. My friend Sue Lowden is ready to defeat Harry Reid. Polls show her beating Reid with than 50% of the vote. Sue is a champion of conservative values, and I know she has what it takes to win this race. That’s why I hope you’ll join me in supporting Sue Lowden for Senate by following this link and making a generous contribution today. Thank you.

    GOOD VISION IN A DOWNPOUR

How to achieve good vision while driving during a heavy downpour.

We are not sure why it is so effective; just try this method when it rains
heavily. This method was told by a Police friend who had experienced and confirmed it.

It is useful…even driving at night. Most of the motorists would turn on HIGH or FASTEST SPEED of the wipers during heavy downpour, yet the visibility in front of the windshield is still bad……

In the event you face such a situation, just try your SUN GLASSES (any model will do), and miracle! All of a sudden, your visibility in front of your windshield is perfectly clear, as if there is no rain.

Make sure you always have a pair of SUN GLASSES in your car, as you are not only helping yourself to drive safely with good vision, but also might save your friend’s life by giving him this idea..

Try it yourself and share it with your friends!??? Amazing, you still see the drops on the windshield, but not the sheet of rain falling.?

You can see where the rain bounces off the road.? It works to eliminate the “blindness” from passing semi’s spraying you too.?

Or the “kickup” if you are following a semi or car in the rain.?
They ought to teach that little tip in driver’s training.. It really does work.

  12. Alen Says:

Erica, what have you been drinking? I practically live at Harry’s on the weekends. There is no such picture there, at least not of Michelle.

  13. Doug The Main Dude Says:

    Oscar,
What might be good for you to understand at your age, would be the respect it shows to grant someone the freedom to go out into the world, as themselves and enjoy themselves. That would be the same as you would wish to be granted as well, yes? And you would want the respect of your partner to allow you the freedom to be yourself and go out and have fun. When a woman goes out with the girls to have a good time, usually that means they are wanting to be with female energy, flirt, get free drinks, and go home. NOTE, I said woman, rather than girl.

As an example, Michelle was given a note that was placed on her car window the night she went out. She showed it to me asking, in somewhat of amazement to the situation, that stated as follows:

    Holy shit,
I have to tell you that you are the sexiest woman I’ve seen in quite a while. Please (underlined 3x) call, just to talk, so I can tell you just how sexy you are, and “other things”. Block your # if uncomfortable. Pete (number withheld so you all wouldn’t be calling him and telling him how much of an idiot he is.)

First of all, I give kudos to Pete for even having the balls to give it a shot, albeit a lame one. The sad thing is that it has probably worked for him, or something of the like, previously. Secondly, he states that she was the sexiest woman he’s seen in quite a while…quite a while?! Dude, you lost it at, quite a while… Since it’s all bullshit anyway, you have to go all the way and say, ever and ever… at least! The underlining of the word please, shows the extreme level of pleading that most women don’t necessarily go for. The “other things” is a vague attempt at humor or innuendo that is high school, at best. Then to say, block your number if uncomfortable…? If uncomfortable, if people listen to their gut, would tell them not to call in the first place.

Again, there is an etiquette to life that is respected. And respect is an earned, and learned, means of exchange of interplay between peoples.

I would imagine that the fact that Michelle gave me the note is a helpful touch to your finding your answer, as well.

  14. anon Says:

Alen, you are wrong. Erica is correct. I am a friend of Michelle. I have been there with her. She has shown me the picture. It is her and she signed it. What were you drinking? That was her pet before it died.

  15. Doug The Main Dude Says:

    Alen,
You must spend more of your time in ‘awareness mode’ at Harry’s.

  16. Alberto Says:

Dude, Oscar wasn’t trying to insult you. Nor was he hitting on your wife. He was pointing out the obvious. Or at least here in Brazil, we control our girls, ladies, women, if it has a vagina, etc.

We as men flirt a lot in Brazil. It is a national pastime. Women are for loving. And we Brazilian men love our women. If my woman showed me a note like that I would be asking her what she did to attract that man’s attention after she got up from the ground where I would have put her with a good smack.

American men allow their women too much freedom. Hence the high devoice rate. We are a catholic country. A woman can not get a divorce so easily. Most men here would kill the bitch before allowing her to walk off with another man.

I commend you that have trained her to report back to you. But Oscar was just pointing out that a woman can not be trusted to use the best judgment. She needs to be supervised closely.

Who knows if those other women are as properly trained as Michelle? Some of them may not even have a man. What then? You will have allowed your wife to frequent the company of loose moral women?

One can not be too careful even with the best trained woman. The bible says God made man the head of the family. Do you think God would have done this if he did not intend that we men take a strong hand to the unchecked desires of women?

Do not take offense. I am sure Oscar gets your meaning. You are in control of your woman. Again no insult was intended. It is the Brazil way to remind a man to as you americans say “check his bitch.”

    Alberto

  17. Calvin Says:

    Michelle,

I would have asked you to dance, had I seen you at any place where dancing would have afforded the pleasure of being that close to you.

  18. Gilbert Says:

I am heading to Harry’s this weekend. Guys lets go check out the picture. Who is with me?

  19. Doug The Main Dude Says:

    Alberto,
You missed my point entirely, and I am not offended whatsoever. I have no, nor wish to, have any ‘control’ over anybody. That is not how my world works, and that is not what your god has taught me… Control is a word that no one has over me, either. Even your god. The bible is an archaic set of words, written by men, on the dream of maintaining their control through their perceived intelligence of a fabled story of myths. A book with some good messages that are stolen from, I mean, borrowed from the multitudes of myths and legends that led up to the date of writings. Read Rumi and you will understand where my meaning of from. The other shit is male dominant filler hidden in between myths and messages handed down for eons, in order to make sure the men maintain their power.

I know why my wife, the blog hostess, received that message, I don’t need to ask her this question. It’s very simple, and Oscar, as well as yourself, are part of the example. She is a beautiful, hot, sexy woman. Just as she turns my head, she turns those of every man in the room…or on the blog. That is a character of hers, the beauty thing, that struck me first too. I know who I am, and don’t need a beautiful woman under my arm to let the world know that. Just a Michelle is not a blinded by religion woman that walks two paces behind her man. I don’t have a complex with someone ‘stealing’ my girl. No one steal another, as no one owns her, or me. A relationship is built on the knowing that there is a bond between two people for reasons beyond the beauty, and the bills. That there is a deeper meaning to a relationship than simply calling someone ‘mine’. That holds no water, and THAT is why there are so many divorces. Most people fail to see past their own ego, or manipulated psyches from the perception of our societies religions and social dogmas that we have become accustomed to.

It is your insinuation that freedom brings on divorce. I don’t think that would be a strong argument if we would end up pursuing that topic more lengthy. Marriage brings on divorce. Both legal documents. Once on the way into the deal, and one one the way out. Quite simple.

  20. Oscar Says:

Please Alberto speak for yourself. I just admire the beautiful intelligent woman. I have no ulterior motives.

Michelle, you are beautiful in both what you champion and in what God has bestowed upon you.

You are respected and revered here by females and males alike. No offense was meant towards you.

    Oscar

  21. Doug The Main Dude Says:

    I get that Oscar.

    Kayloni:

My sister about 11 years ago met a man she said was a alien. He was an ordinary man to look at about 5’6”, black, or middle eastern, about 150lbs.

He had an air of deception about him. I never trusted him. My sister, Joyce adored him at first, then she came to worship him. Nothing we said or did could convince her he was not an alien, or god.

I saw no magic. Yes, he was a gifted orator. He could talk about anything. But I was not especially impressed. About 7 years into their relationship, he said that he would make an exception in her case and allow her to leave the planet with him when he left.

We as a family had had enough. So we sought experts to help us discourage him from seeing our sister. He had no visible means of support, so we offered him money.

My family is very wealthy. We offered him a lot. He always smiled and said I’ll think about it. We recorded the conversations as played it back for Joyce. She never cared to listen to our warnings.

The people we hired to take care of him always reported that they had, yet to ours and evidently theirs he always showed up with Joyce again. In 1976 April 21,they both disappeared from the face of the earth as far as we could discover.

To this day there has been no trace. Our parents have been dead for 6 years. and I have spend more than 30 million dollars looking for Joyce or him. Bill came and went with Joyce.

I think he killed her and moved on. The authorities refused to believe us because their investigations discovered an account Joyce had set up in both their names worth 21 million dollars to date.

He never touched any of the money during the 4 years it was in his name solely because Joyce had removed hers. Our investigative team says that Joyce forged his name to the accounts and removed her own to leave the money to him.

Where he got his money we still have not discovered. I think that he was living off some other deluded woman. I have kept the account alive because I believe that if you follow the money, the villain will be discovered.

He will return for the money and we will have him.

My advice to you is to count your blessings. These creeps prey on the naive. Perhaps he felt the hot scent of the authorities on his trail. He has not left this planet, he is somewhere preying on someone else.

My sister would be 64 if she were alive today. We were inseparable until that creep surfaced. I have reached my 63 birthday without peace. I would not wish such pain on another.

Listen to the advice you have been given by those who are attempting to help you heal. Your story was pointed out to me by a member of the team still searching for them.

Michelle, you have a strange blog. I find it anti christian, and close to devil worship. I am not saying that was your intention when you started it. But it has come to that.

If Joyce had stayed in the Church as my parents were always saying, she would be here today. He did not believe in Jesus Christ. Hell, I think, he told her he was Jesus or had been because she said that he was immortal and that his kind had provided religion to us for our own good.

I should have had him killed then. But my civilized heart, stopped me. Now I would not hesitate to take care of any non white that invaded my family’s space.

I now believe people should marry their own kind. I am not a racists. I do not discriminate among my corporation’s employees. I believe in equal pay for equal work. if the sex, religion, race, or sexual preference has no bearing on how they perform, it should have no bearing on how they are paid or promoted.

We run a very successful and competitive computer business. Our employees and officers enjoy some of the highest bonuses in the business. We have not laid off a single worker.

I am a practicing Mormon. I was a devout catholic. But I have since been reborn into the true faith.

Kaylani, you may not see it now but you are a very lucky woman to be rid of that man’s influence.

  23. Q & A Says:

Q: Do you really need premium gas?

A: Your car’s engine is designed to run on premium if the manual tells you to use it. Premium gas is processed to burn more slowly in high-compression engines, so it provides power without causing knocking or pinging. In an emergency, you can use regular fuel in an engine designed for premium, but your car will get significantly better mileage on premium gas.

In fact, despite premium’s higher cost, you will get more miles per dollar from premium fuel. Frequent use of regular gas in an engine designed for premium can lead to a buildup of carbon deposits and a permanent drop in power and gas mileage.

Only buy a car designed for premium fuel if you are prepared to put premium gas in it all the time.

One Light Bulb at a Time

A physics teacher in high school once told the students that while one grasshoper on the railroad tracks wouldn’t slow a train very much, a billion of them would. With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by a good American.
    Good idea . . . one light bulb at a time . . . ..

Check this out . I can verify this because I was in Lowes the other day for some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments . They were all made in China . The next day I was in Ace Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there .. They were made in USA . Start looking .

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else – even their job . So, after reading this email, I think this lady is on the right track . Let’s get behind her!

My grandson likes Hershey’s candy . I noticed, though, that it is marked made in Mexico now . I do not buy it any more . My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico now I have switched to Crest .. You have to read the labels on everything .

This past weekend I was at Kroger . I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets . I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off brand labeled, “Everyday Value . ” I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats – they were the same except for the price . The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in – get ready for this – the USA in a company in Cleveland , Ohio
    .
So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here .

So on to another aisle – Bounce Dryer Sheets . . . yep, you guessed it, Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada . The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA ! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price!

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA – the job you save may be your own or your neighbors!

If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies!

(We should have awakened a decade ago)

Let’s get with the program . . . . help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and
    create more jobs here in the U . S . A ..

Mom called me and said “that black and white picture sure sparked some conversation.” I said what black and white. She said “Girl you better check out today’s comments.”

I did and yeah it’s about you today. And rightfully so. You are a sweet little morsel. If I were gay, i’d be hot for you too. What’s not to like? Brains and Beauty always makes for a great combination to a woman.

Doug, I believe you when you say you are not the type to need arm candy. But I can’t help but think that you take great pride in being the one she selected to make her husband.

Mom, always says that I should find a mate male or female she says she doesn’t mind. She says a mind like mind should have a mate to help when it gets full of issues.

Of course, a mother thinks her daughter is special. But my mother thinks the world of you too Michelle. You are very special to her. She is arranging a meeting with Anonz and me.

How she convinced him that I can keep a secret is beyond me. She also mentioned you name to him. I don’t know what the outcome was, but I will be meeting him some time after March.

The mystery man didn’t say exactly when, just that it would be some time after March. Mom thinks he is the very best so, I’m psyched.

Here in England, people believe that they know who he is. It is a big topic of discussion whenever your blog comes up. That and your influence on the Islamic women of the world.

You are big among the muslim women here. They remove their head covering in honor of you. Believe me that is huge.

Oh, mom I found this and THAT is the real reason I wrote in. Oh and would you please as the girls to sign their name when they email me. I like to know who I am talking with.

    Wanted: Human guinea pigs

Seniors will have a new option when it comes to the flu shot… so new, in fact, that they’re still trying to figure out just how effective – or ineffective – it may be.

It’s called Fluzone High-Dose, and it’s aimed at people older than 65. The FDA rushed it through the approvals process, with the requirement that further studies be conducted once it’s in use next year.

That means anyone who rolls up his sleeve for this vaccine may be playing the role of guinea pig – without even knowing it.

What’s more, the FDA is going to let Sanofi Pasteur conduct its own research on the vaccine once it reaches the public.

    Hey, you trust them, right?

This new vaccine – approved in just nine months – contains quadruple that amount of antigen as standard seasonal flu vaccines. Already, they know that this mega-dose causes a higher risk of side effects, including pain, swelling, headaches and fever.

And for what? Well, truthfully… not much.

Most people believe that once they get a flu shot, they’re protected. Not true – the vaccine’s effectiveness changes from year to year, and even at the best of times it only offers limited protection.

Whether you’re 17 or 71, a better way to protect yourself from the flu, colds and other infections is with a healthy immune system and some common sense.

First, make sure you get enough immune system nutrients. One study found that low vitamin D levels can increase your risk of respiratory infections by 55 percent. Make sure you’re getting at least 2,000 IU per day, and you can safely take twice that amount – especially if you rarely see the sun.

In addition, make sure you’re getting plenty of vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, Echinacea and fish oil.

Finally, be careful when you’re out in public. Many people need to use hand railings on public staircases, escalators and such – just realize that these are germ magnets. Use them if you need them, but wash your hands when you can – and definitely don’t eat until you do. Avoid rubbing your eyes, nose and mouth – don’t even put a piece of gum in your mouth – until you know your hands are clean.

If the virus can’t get in, the virus can’t make you sick. Like I said, it’s just a little common sense.

    Better Travel With Your Pet

    Jeff Feinman, VMD, CVH

Think about how you’ll travel with your pet in your vehicle before you depart, planning ahead for safety and convenience. Ideas…

Keep the pet on a harness attached to the seat belt or in a carrying case. An animal that jumps around can be a distraction and could also be hurt in an accident or if you have to stop suddenly.

Feed animals three or four hours before departing so that they won’t start agitating for food too soon into the trip.

Bring plenty of water. The excitement and stress of a trip can make your pet thirsty.

Bring along a litter box for a cat.

Never leave your pet in the car unattended — you may be away from the vehicle longer than you expect, or your pet could even be stolen. It’s also dangerous to leave any animal in a poorly ventilated vehicle.

I am in the hotel lobby on the second floor. I have seen your picture Michelle. You are a doll. I want to meet you. I will be at Harry’s Sunday. I will pay for your friends and anyone else you bring. That would include dinner at the fine restaurant downstairs.

Say the word and I will pay in advance. Surely a dance and a picture together would not be too much to ask.
