“Just noticing…”

How The Tragic Death Of A Woman Denied An Abortion In Ireland Could Become The Norm In America

Savita Halappanavar, a 31-year-old Indian woman living in Ireland, went to the hospital when she first began to miscarry — but thanks to Ireland’s stringent abortion ban, medical professionals denied her repeated requests to quickly terminate the pregnancy because they could still detect a fetal heartbeat. The Irish hospital required her to extend her miscarriage over three days until the fetus’ heartbeat officially stopped, and by that time, Halappanavar had developed serious blood poisoning. She passed away just a few days later.

Halappanavar’s death helps highlight the tragic effect of Ireland’s stringent abortion ban, but the impact of that type of restrictive legislation isn’t just limited to that country. In fact, lawmakers in Ohio are quietly pushingextreme anti-abortion legislation that would subject the women in that state to a situation incredibly similar to the one in Ireland.

During this year’s lame duck session, Ohio legislators are planning to revive HB 125, a so-called “heartbeat” bill that would ban abortions as soon as a fetal heartbeat can be detected — which can first occur as early as five or six weeks, before many women may even know they’re pregnant. The proposed legislation represents the most restrictive abortion ban in the United States. If HB 125 is passed, it would criminalize all abortions after the emergence of a fetal heartbeat without allowing even the narrowest exceptions in potential cases of rape, incest, or the mental health of the woman.

Even if Ohio’s bill includes some kind of provision that would allow women to seek abortions in life-threatening situations, Halappanavar’s death points to the fact that health risks aren’t always immediately apparent. A 1992 Supreme Court ruling in Ireland amended the country’s abortion ban to include an exception in cases where the woman’s life is in danger, but Irish hospitals don’t always know how far that medical exception can stretch. They are often reluctant to provide women with abortion services unless the situation is very clearly life-threatening — and for women like Halappanavar, that can already be too late.

And in cases where the fetus is not expected to survive — when women like Halappanavar are undergoing a miscarriage, or when doctors discover fatal fetal defects — anti-abortion legislation is often murky, even in this country. In Arizona, where a stringent abortion ban outlaws the procedure after just 20 weeks, women who discover fatal defects that will not allow their fetus to survive are forced to carry the fetus to term anyway.

The Madness Of Monsanto

Good morning!

“M” not only stands for “Monsanto” but also for “Money”, and “Monsanto” is all about “Money”. They could care less about you and me…nor anyone else on the planet except their shareholders, who are also all about the “Money”.

Yes, Social Butterfly, I am disappointed and shocked that Prop 37 didn’t pass. The majority of Californians just don’t get it, or they are________. You fill in the blank.

How one would want to be left in the dark about what is in their food, and therefore being ingested in their own bodies and the little bodies of their children, in my opinion, is just insanely stupid. But evidently too many people chose to listen to the lies of those that oppose instead of thinking of their own health.

I am so sorry that I never blogged on this before on such an important health issue. What does it take to open your eyes to the destructive disasterous future Monsanto has in store for us?

Perhaps this will help:

Monsanto’s Future for us All – A Frankenworld

Frankenbug is loose on the farm, and no one knows what will happen next.

A brand-new microscopic bug that never existed before in nature is now turning up in animal feed used to fatten up the commercial meat you eat.

This Frankenbug has been clearly linked to infertility and miscarriage in cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, and poultry.1

Prof. Don M. Huber, a respected professor at Purdue University and a member of the government’s own USDA National Plant Disease Recovery System said the pathogen has evolved because of GMO crops.

That’s bad news for us all, because crops and animals that are genetically tampered with are not regulated.

Even worse, if the food you’re eating has been tampered with genetically, no one has to tell you.

Not only that, they don’t have to release the studies on the effects of these foods, because the companies are private. Private companies don’t have to release any information to you or anyone.

The government considers these crops safe and doesn’t even think twice about them.

As if that weren’t enough, glyphosate, the weed-killer Monsanto markets as Roundup and that it has modified the crops to resist, actually promotes these kinds of pathogens, or Frankenbugs.

Do You Want a Lab-Created Bug Inside You?

These new microscopic bugs – that didn’t exist until GMO crops were created – can hurt plants, remove the plants’ nutrients, and hurt the animals that eat the crops, too.2

Professor Huber says the new pathogen

  1. increases in soil treated with glyphosate
  2. then gets taken up by plants
  3. gets transmitted to animals via their feed
  4. and goes into you when you eat the plants and meat.

Monsanto has tried hard to discredit Prof. Huber.3 But researchers have already proven that you can’t trust what they say about what their weed-killer does. Glyphosate has been found to kill human placental cells at concentrations below what’s been approved by regulators

.
Roundup is lethal at even lower concentrations.4

In a minute, I’m going to show what else Monsanto’s doing and how you can stop their Frankenfoods and Frankenbugs from hurting you.

But first, you’re probably wondering who I am.

My name is Dr. Al Sears, MD. I’ve made it my mission to expose Monsanto and all the Big Agra companies for what they are. And I’ve been speaking out and warning my hundreds of thousands of online readers for years that these giant corporations are experimenting on you without your permission…

Yet so many people are still unaware of what’s going on, because Mega-giant seed corporations like Monsanto want to prevent any bad news about their products getting out to the public.

In fact, let me tell you a little story about how bad it’s getting right from my own home…

Monsanto’s “War Zone” Right In My Yard

I got up in the morning and went outside to exercise, and it was kind of dark like it always is this time of year in South Florida…

…and there’s my neighbor with a sprayer going along my fence spraying Roundup.

I have the Jamaican herb cerasee (momordica charantia) growing in my yard because it produces a flower that my family and I put in tea for detoxification.

My neighbor didn’t like it.

So there he was spraying Monsanto’s week killer on the roots of my plants along the fence we share.

Now all of the cerasee is dead. And so is the hedge that I had growing there.

He had already killed everything on his side, then he bulldozed it, and had also sprayed it with Roundup. Now he was spraying my yard with Roundup, too…

Problem is, it’s only about 20 feet from my well where we get our drinking water.

He’s always been a pretty nice guy, so I went and talked to him. “You know, I really wish you had told me. I would have pulled the herb up if you didn’t like–”

“Oh, that’d take too long,” he cut me off. “Plus I learned that if I spray Roundup everything dies. Then grass can grow there.”

I said, “The herb I had there is actually very health enhanci–”

“Well, you told me when I moved in you were growing that stuff, and I looked it up. The University of Florida says it’s a pest. It’s a weed, and a foreign invader. And we need to get rid of it. So that’s why I sprayed it with Roundup.”

“You know,” I said, “Roundup is not too health–”

“Oh, no, there’s lots of studies. I looked it up and the University of Florida says it’s completely safe. They use it everywhere and it can’t possibly hurt you and it’s biodegradable.”

Monsanto had originally said Roundup was biodegradable. They had to remove that claim from the label because studies found there’s nothing biodegradable about it. But there are still press releases out there that claim it is.

Now the rest of my yard is green everywhere, and there’s this gray-yellow war zone along one side.

Funny thing, when you walk over there … it’s 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the yard. He bulldozed the trees so the sun hits it. And it’s hot, and now nothing can live there except fire ants.

I look at the dead area and think, “That’s Monsanto’s future for us all.”

Weed killers, Frankenbugs… those are bad enough… but I just read a study that says we now have to worry about an even greater threat…

GMO Corn Causing Cancer?

Monsanto claims their lab-created genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are safe. And the FDA claims the food that grows from them is just like the real thing, so no problem.

How could they possibly know that? Until now, no one outside of the Big Agra companies that create GMOs has really studied their effects…

They only evidence of the dangers is leaking out from Europe, Russia, and other countries around the world.

Here are just some of their findings:6,7,8,9,10,11

  • Allergies increased. When GMO soy was introduced, allergies jumped by 50%. Allergen proteins were 7 times higher. Some were unique only to GMO soy.
  • It wreaked havoc on digestion and the absorption of nutrients. Digestive enzymes plummeted, and GMOs caused lesions in the digestive tract.
  • Proteins that control stress response and energy creation in cells changed. This resulted in faster aging of cells.
  • It caused reproductive problems. Sperm cells had trouble developing, and embryos showed altered genes. Offspring were smaller, and many more died.

Here, you can’t study the seeds… Monsanto requires anyone who buys genetically modified seeds to sign what they call a “technology stewardship agreement.”

What does that mean? It prohibits the buyer from doing any research on them.5

But even though you can’t research the seeds, scientists now have access to the “Franken-foods” that grow from the seeds.

And what they’re finding is that they are far from safe…

I just read the new issue of the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology. It has a study that looked at the toxic effects of Monsanto’s genetically-modified corn on rats. Rats are often studied to find out if something is going to be toxic in humans.

For the study, some groups of rats got Monsanto’s genetically modified roundup-resistant corn. Some got a regular diet but were given water with Roundup in it… only a tiny amount that you’ve been told is safe to drink.

Those animals that ate the GMO corn got tumors and died. And the ones that drank the water with roundup in it got tumors and died. The ones that got both developed even more tumors and died.

Up to 70 percent of those that got the contaminated water and the genetically modified corn died significantly earlier than the other animals.6 And they developed 2 to 3 times more large cancers than the animals that got no GMO corn or polluted water.

The tumors are so disgusting and huge that I don’t even want to publish the pictures… but I feel you need to see them:

On the left is a rat with tumors from eating Monsanto’s roundup-ready genetically modified corn. On the right are the horrible tumors from drinking water with supposedly “safe” amounts of the weedkiller Roundup in it.

What’s worse is that because the FDA has decided this lab-created corn – along with GMO soy and other crops – is the same as real food, U.S. Food manufacturers don’t have to tell you when products have GMOs.

The symbol to look for on packaging that will tell you if something is GMO-free is this label:Fortunately, there are some companies that have volunteered to put it on the label when there are no GMOs in the food you’re buying.

But one of the most-asked questions I get through e-mail and even to my Facebook page is “What can I do to keep this stuff out of my kitchen?” I’ll tell you what I tell them:

  1. First, I recommend you avoid all non-organic corn, soy, and canola products. 75 percent of canola and 73 percent of corn crops grown in the U.S. are GMO, according to the USDA. It’s gotten so bad that even bees can’t find nectar to make honey without getting it from GMO canola.
  1. Next, eliminate commercial beef and poultry from your diet. They are raised on the GMO corn, soy, and grains you’re trying to avoid.
  1. Then, I recommend you read my exclusive report, How the Feds Set Frankenstein Free on the Farm: Terrorizing Farmers, Making Us Sick.

In it this special report, I show you how and why this horror show is unfolding … and what you can do about it … so you can avoid the crippling side effects and take back your health from the giant corporations that are experimenting on you without your permission.

I’ll also tell you all about Monsanto, the company that controls nearly every food seed on earth, and:

  • the strong-arming Monsanto does to force farmers to either use their seeds, or go out of business.
  • how Monsanto tried to take advantage of starving Haitians after their devastating earthquake.
  • how Monsanto destroyed local businesses in Iraq with the stroke of a pen.
  • what they’re doing to make sure you never have stevia, a calorie-free sugar substitute, in its natural form any food or drink. Ever.
  • how Monsanto poisoned an entire town in Alabama for years, and hid the fact they were doing it.
  • how they’re trying to make sure you never drink milk, eat a chicken, or enjoy a Christmas ham that they don’t own.
  • the tactics Monsanto uses to frighten, threaten, and bring million-dollar lawsuits against hard-working American farmers all through rural America and the Farm Belt.

I also uncover the compelling studies showing soy is no “miracle food,” and give you eight simple steps to avoid the hidden soy in your diet and how to get these Franken-foods off your dinner table.

To good health

Flap Your Lips Friday

Good morning!

It’s been pretty quiet in blogsville. What’s everyone been up to?

I have been watching the news and I am still really concerned about the devastating affects of Hurricane Sandy. Today I just want to check in with all my readers and ask how you are doing.

I realize many of you affected from the storm read here, so I wanted to at least tell you again that you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I am HOPEing that you are safe and with your loved ones.

But the reality is, although the storm has subsided, what is left in the wake is very far from normal. And, it is going to take a very long time before things return to any normalcy. And for some of you, and perhaps many, your home is not a place that you can return to. My heart goes out to you and yours.

This is the latest, and it is not good. I HOPE that much more will be done for all of you in the coming weeks and months.

Hurricane Sandy Aftermath: Anger Mounts Over Gas Shortages, Power Outages, Relief Supplies

NEW YORK, Nov 2 (Reuters) – Four days after superstorm Sandy smashed into the U.S. Northeast, rescuers on Friday were still discovering the extent of the death and devastation in New York and the New Jersey shore, and anger mounted over gasoline shortages, power outages and waits for relief supplies.

The total killed in one of the biggest storms to hit the United States jumped by a third on Thursday, to 98. In New York City, 40 people have been found dead, half of them in Staten Island, which was overrun by a wall of water on Monday.

Among the dead in Staten Island were two brothers, aged 2 and 4, who were swept from their mother’s arms after her car stalled in rising flood waters. Their bodies were found near each other in a marshy area on Thursday.

(SCROLL DOWN FOR LIVE UPDATES)

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and Federal Emergency Management Agency Deputy Administrator Richard Serino planned to visit Staten Island on Friday amid angry claims by some survivors that the borough had been ignored.

Scenes of angry storm victims could complicate matters for politicians, from President Barack Obama just four days before the general election, to governors and mayors in the most heavily populated region in the United States. Obama so far has received praise for his handling of Sandy.

“They forgot about us,” said Theresa Connor, 42, describing her Staten Island neighborhood as having been “annihilated.” “And (Mayor Michael) Bloomberg said New York is fine. The marathon is on!”

Citing the boost it brings to the city’s economy, New York Mayor Bloomberg decided to hold the world’s largest marathon on Sunday, as scheduled.

Adding to heated tempers, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut drivers were also confronting a shortage of gasoline. Even before dawn on Friday, long lines of cars snaked around gasoline stations around the area, and police were in place at many spots to keep the peace between furious, frustrated drivers.

In one instance, a man was charged in the New York City borough of Queens with threatening another driver with a gun after he tried to cut in on a line of cars waiting for gas.

COLDER WEATHER AHEAD

Forecasts for colder temperatures only added to the tension, since many in New Jersey and elsewhere have been using fuel-powered generators to run lights and heaters while waiting for utilities to repair downed power lines.

At a Hess Station on late Thursday night in Fairfield, New Jersey, people waited more than three hours to fill-up their cars and gas cans. Four police officers directed traffic.

“This is a pretty apocalyptic situation. How far do we have to go to get gas – Tennessee?” said Ricardo Meehleib, 30, as he waited in line.

While power was expected to be returned throughout Manhattan by Saturday, it could be another week or more in suburbs and more distant towns along the coast. About 4.5 million homes and businesses in 15 U.S. states remain without power.

Fury has been escalating throughout New York at Bloomberg’s decision to proceed with the marathon on Sunday, vowing the event – which attracts more than 40,000 runners – would not divert any resources storm victims.

“If they take one first responder from Staten Island to cover this marathon, I will scream,” New York City Councilman James Oddo said on his Twitter account.

Staten Island, which lies across New York Harbor from lower Manhattan, is home to about 500,000 residents, many blue-collar workers whose families have lived there for generations.

In New Jersey, where at least 13 people were killed, entire neighborhoods in oceanside towns were swallowed by seawater and much of the Atlantic City boardwalk was destroyed.

“There’s nothing more precious to people than their homes. Those are where their families are, their memories and possessions of their lives, and there’s also a sense of safety to home,” New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said.

“That sense of safety was violated with water rushing into people’s homes at an enormous rate of speed and people having to literally swim, climb, jump for their lives,” he said.

COSTLY CATASTROPHE

The financial cost of the storm promised to be staggering. Disaster modeling company Eqecat estimated Sandy caused up to $20 billion in insured losses and $50 billion in economic losses, double its previous forecast.

At the high end of the range, Sandy would rank as the fourth costliest U.S. catastrophe ever, according to the Insurance Information Institute, behind Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

In blacked-out New York City neighborhoods, some residents complained about a lack of police and expressed fears about crime. Some were also concerned about traffic safety.

“People feel safe during the day but as soon as the sun sets, people are extremely scared. The fact that Guardian Angels are on the streets trying to restore law just shows how out of control the situation is in lower Manhattan,” said Wolfgang Ban, a restaurant owner in Manhattan’s Alphabet City neighborhood.

The Guardian Angels are a group of anti-crime volunteers.

Sandy started as a late-season hurricane in the Caribbean, where it killed 69 people, before smashing ashore in the United States with 80-mile-per-hour (130-kph) winds. It stretched from the Carolinas to Connecticut and was the largest storm by area to hit the United States in decades.

The presidential campaign has returned to full swing after being on hold for several days because of the storm. Obama, locked in a tight race with Republican challenger Mitt Romney head of next Tuesday’s election, appeared to gain politically from his disaster relief performance.

Christie, a vocal Romney supporter, praised Obama, and Bloomberg, a political independent, endorsed Obama on Thursday.

Good morning!

I have not been keeping up on the news of Hurricane Sandy as much as I’d like to, but it seems it has gotten worse and as I said on Sunday, Sandy is pretty relentless. Many of you who are safe are wondering how you can help. I found this on the Huff Po:

Hurricane Sandy Megastorm: How To Help

UPDATED Oct. 29, 2012; 5:50 p.m. EST

After Hurricane Sandy has caused numerous deaths throughout the Caribbean, and “Frankenstorm” threatens to slam the East Coast with conditions worse than the historic “Perfect Storm” of 1991, aid groups are taking action.

Forecasters said Thursday there’s now a 90 percent chance the East will be hit with winds, heavy rain, flooding and possibly snow starting Sunday and extending past Halloween on Wednesday, the AP reports.

“Frankenstorm,” a combination of Hurricane Sandy, an early winter storm in the West, and arctic air from the North, could cause as much as $1 billion worth of damage across the U.S. East Coast, according to the AP.

Hurricane Sandy has made landfall in the Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica and Haiti.

See how aid organizations are stepping in, and what you can do to help. This is a developing list.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Red Cross
The Red Cross has started a preventative campaign in Haiti, using SMS and sound trucks to provide early warning messages. Emergency response teams are also in place, ready to hand out relief supplies for up to 11,000 families. In the United States, the Red Cross has released an app that allows users to track the impending storm, receive weather alerts, directions to the nearest shelter, tools like a flashlight, strobe light, alarm, and even a one-touch “I’m Safe” button that uses social media to let family and friends know you’re safe. Learn more here.

The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army has set up feeding operations in shelters along the East Coast and has stocked dozens of mobile feeding units, which the organization will deploy to heavily impacted areas once it is safe to do. In addition to providing thousands of meals, the nonprofit is also prepared to provide clean-up kits, hygiene kits, shower units, first-aid supplies and communications support. Donors may contribute $10 by text messaging the word STORM to 80888, and confirming the donation with the word, “Yes.” Learn more here.

NYC Service
Mayor Bloomberg has activated the hurricane shelter system in New York and will be in need of trained volunteers. Help volunteers at evacuation shelters and after the storm. To learn more, email nycservice@cityhall.nyc.gov.

New York Blood Center
The New York Blood Center is calling for donations to prevent any shortages after the storm hits. The organization is working with local hospitals to make sure it have adequate supply. The center needs at least 2,000 donations a day to maintain the center’s blood inventory. Learn more here.

AmeriCares
AmeriCares is preparing to deliver relief supplies like medicine, first aid kits, cleaning products and flashlights to susceptible communities along the East Coast. It has reached out to 100 health clinics, food banks and other agencies and also have aid workers ready to help. In Haiti, the organization has already provided 300 family emergency kits and are prepared to deliver water, sanitation treatment, and medical supplies if need be. Learn more here.

Feeding America
As Hurricane Sandy hits the eastern seaboard, the Feeding America network of food banks and agencies is prepared to deliver truckloads of food, water and supplies to communities in need, through its network of more than 200 food banks and the agencies it serves. Its food banks will also set up additional emergency distribution sites as they are needed. It is anticipated that roughly 25-30 food banks will be impacted by this storm. In times of disaster, Feeding America supports immediate and long-term recovery for individuals and families in need of food assistance. Learn more here.

Operation USA
The Los Angeles-based international relief agency will provide emergency aid to Cuba and Haiti in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Operation USA will provide access to safe water and support for clinics and hospitals and assess shelter, safe water, food and other needs. Learn more here or donate by phone at 1.800.678.7255, by check made out to Operation USA, 7421 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036. Text AID to 50555 and donate $10 to Operation USA’s disaster relief efforts.

Direct Relief
Direct Relief has placed seven hurricane preparedness packs in the Caribbean, each containing medicine and supplies to treat a variety of traumatic and chronic conditions that can support 5,000 people for a month. Packs have also been placed along the U.S. East Coast including 300 clinical partners along the storm’s projected path. Direct Relief works with 70 countries to provide disaster relief and preparedness during the most critical hours after a natural disaster. Learn more here.

Save The Children
Save The Children provides child-friendly space kits, including diapers and hygiene items. The organization also maintains a U.S. Emergencies Fund, that allow for disaster planning, emergency preparedness, response and recovery work and psychological support. Save the Children says it’s committed to the same level of support for the impending storm. Learn more here.

Team Rubicon
Team Rubicon, which utilizes the skills of military veterans to assist in responding to and recovering from natural disasters, has teams of highly skilled military veterans working with local authorities preparing to respond to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in communities from Washington, D.C., to Boston. In New York City, Team Rubicon veterans are assisting the city’s mobile assessment teams as well as coordinating joint operations in the city’s Emergency Operations Center. This not only provides a skilled and motivated work force, but provides a new mission for America’s veterans, allowing them to continue to serve here at home and abroad. Learn more here.

International Medical Corps
With Haiti under a state of emergency, the International Medical Corps has teams in place with emergency kits, fuel and flashlights and mobile medical units on standby. In 2010 the International Medical Corps had teams on the ground treating within 22 hours after the earthquake. Since then it has established cholera treatment, primary health care, water and sanitation, and disaster preparedness programs. Learn more here.

Readers: In my opinion, this hurricane is not a fluke…not a one-of-a-kind megastorm…this is a sign of global warming. Many don’t believe in global warming…mother nature’s change of course because of human impact, but my gut tells me that this will be the first of many, unless we really look at how the things we do affect our planet, and make some serious changes.

My good thoughts go out to the millions without electricity and to those that have had to evacuate their homes. I wish safety and good health to you and yours.

Peace & Love…

Rape is God’s Plan

Good morning!

Richard Mourdock On Abortion: Pregnancy From Rape Is ‘Something God Intended’ [UPDATE]

WASHINGTON — Indiana GOP U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock declared Tuesday night he opposes aborting pregnancies conceived in rape because “it is something that God intended to happen.”

Debating Rep. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.) in their final Senate race showdown, a questioner asked them and Libertarian candidate Andrew Horning to explain their views on abortion.

All three said they were anti-abortion. But Mourdock went further, putting himself in territory near Missouri GOP Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin, the anti-abortion congressman who infamously asserted that women don’t get pregnant from “legitimate rape.”

“The only exception I have to have an abortion is in the case of the life of the mother,” said Mourdock, the Tea Party-backed state treasurer. “I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize life is that gift from God. I think that even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”

Mourdock unseated veteran Republican Sen. Richard Lugar in the May primary, and has battled Donnelly for the longtime senator’s supporters since. Abortion has been a touchy issue for the candidates, with Mourdock accusing Donnelly of lacking strength on the issue because Donnelly backed the health care reform law. Donnelly has criticized a requirement that ensures women can get birth control, even when their employer objects to contraception.

“I believe in pro-life,” Donnelly said, carving out somewhat more moderate anti-abortion stance. “I believe that life begins at conception. The only exceptions I believe in are for rape, incest and the life a mother.”

Horning argued that the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision was unconstitutional, and that abortion issues should be state matters.

GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who has endorsed Mourdock and cut a campaign ad on his behalf that began running in Indiana on Tuesday, took issue with the abortion comments Tuesday night.

“Gov. Romney disagrees with Richard Mourdock’s comments, and they do not reflect his views,” said Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul.

Mourdock tried to clarify his comments soon after the debate, saying God does not intend sexual assaults.

“God creates life, and that was my point,” Mourdock said in a statement. “God does not want rape, and by no means was I suggesting that He does. Rape is a horrible thing, and for anyone to twist my words otherwise is absurd and sick.”

Nevertheless, Democrats jumped on the comments as further proof that Murdock is an extremist.

“I think rape is a heinous and violent crime in every instance,” said Donnelly in his own statement. “The God I believe in and the God I know most Hoosiers believe in, does not intend for rape to happen — ever. What Mr. Mourdock said is shocking, and it is stunning that he would be so disrespectful to survivors of rape.”

“Richard Mourdock’s disturbing comment about rape is a window into Mourdock’s extreme view of the world, ” said Shripal Shah, spokesman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “Indiana can’t afford to send a self-proclaimed ‘zealot’ and Tea Partier like Richard Mourdock to the Senate.”

Mourdock has been trying to soften some of his postions for the general election after running on a platform that described “compromise” as when Democrats came to agree with him.

Horning had argued earlier in the debate that Mourdock should stick with the harder line.

“As I was reading about the extreme stands of Richard Mourdock I was thinking, ‘Hey, there’s hope for this guy.’ A lot of the stuff that he said was correct,” Horning said, referring to Mourdock’s suggestions that entitlement programs such as Medicare and Social Security may not be constitutional.

“He has repudiated a lot of those statements. Some of it was about the unconstitutionality … right on,” Horning said. “We need somebody who is going to stick with principles.”

 *********

Readers: Richard Mourdock, GOP Senate candidate*, is not a supporter of women and our rights. How big of a man to say rape is something HE struggled with. Men don’t “struggle” with rape; men rape women and it is the woman left to “struggle” with the aftermath.

If a woman, accepts a man’s premise  that the life that results from a rape is a “gift from god,” then she should accept being raped by a man as a planned act for her by God and just lay back  and enjoy it. That life the man is talking about that he claims is a “gift” from God certainly couldn’t happen if that God the man is talking about didn’t plan for the woman to be raped.

When you think about it, Mourdock is actually advocating that if a man rapes a woman he is doing it to complete an act planned by God to give that woman a “gift of life.”  Hence the man is not guilty of a crime, he is merely acting out a plan by God to bring a life into this world.  So if the woman gets pregnant from the rape, the man should walk free.

That would also imply that if the woman struggles and prevents the act from happening thereby preventing the rape she has sinned against the will of God to give her a “life.”

Men will go to any degree to justify their desire to control women, but to advocate rape is a will of God is a step way too far, and in my opinion simply sickening. He is not only advocating raps but basically giving a man an excuse to rape a woman. The next step we’ll be told,  rape is not a crime, but an act of God, and men will be praised for acting out “God’s plan”. How insane is that? Don’t believe there aren’t men that would love for that to be the case. And Richard Mourdock is one of them.

Mourdock is the kind of man that we women and men need to vote out of office. Men who speak such sickening words with radical advocations and implications, who have little thought or care about what women want or need, have no place in the Senate, or anywhere else that allows them to try and control women. Unlike Mourdock, I don’t “struggle” with this. I am very clear and cannot stress this enough.

On a different but similar vein…

To the many women who write in about those men in their families that are voting penis size or color, and to those women on the Right, take note: Remember women on the right, you can tell you husbands, your fathers, brothers, mothers…you can tell everyone you know in your circle that you will vote Republican. But once you are in your secure place while you are voting, know one will know that you voted for Obama! So go for it!  You know you have my backing. C’mon girls, let’s stick together on this!

peace, love and women power – LET’S USE IT!!
