The Banks Have Been Bailed Out – But Where Is All Of The Money Going? (Part Two)

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 18th May 2009

Let me clarify when I said last week that I was having problems with Hope Now.  It wasn’t exactly Hope Now that was not returning my phone calls, but one of their affilitate counseling services called ‘Springboard’. I have to say that with a name like that, they weren’t exactly an impetus that I expected them to be.

However, a few days ago, I had a break through. I decided to call back Hope Now and complain about my ‘Springboard’ experience. When I called them and explained the past several weeks events, they were very apologetic and said that they were going to get someone else on the phone from Springboard to assist me.

Within a few minutes I was speaking to Kyle Perry, another Springboard counselor. I again explained to him that I was having communication problems with my first counselor from Springboard and that I had not received my report form their company that I needed in order to move to the second level. Kyle listened and apologized for the lack of communication from his associate.  He informed me that the report was sent out on the 6th of last month. I informed him that I never received it.

Without hesitation Kyle moved directly into motion on how he could assist me further by asking for my e-mail address so that he could send it to me while I was on the phone with him.  Within minutes he e-mailed me all of the information that I needed and waited on the line to make sure that I had received it.  So far Kyle had handled everything that I was hoping my counselor would do for me.

I then asked Kyle what exactly was going to happen when I spoke to another counselor in the next level. He kindly explained to me what their role would be and what Springboard’s role would continue to be.

From the short conversation that I had with Kyle, I felt that he was a person that really cared about my situation. He was so attentive, understanding, and compassionate that I decided to tell him of my experiences with my phone conversations with Wachovia. When I informed him that Wachovia offered their assistance to me because I was late in my mortgage payments and then denied me a loan modification because my mortgage was late; the rules had changed in the midst of the modification going through, he was shocked and said, ‘This isn’t right.’

I then told him that  Wachovia informed me that they were not allowed to interview me for the ‘Homeowner Affordability Stability Plan’ because I have a second lien’ He went on to say that Wachovia could only work with the first mortgage and it would be difficult with the second from another bank (or something to that affect). I interjected by saying that my first and second were with Wachovia! At this point he said, “Then having a second shouldn’t matter. Michelle, this isn’t right. Do you have some time for us to get on the phone with them? I want to make sure that you actually have spoken with the loss mitigation dept. I want us to call them together.”  “Of course”, I said. I was so delighted that Kyle was going to help me with my bank.

To make a long story short, Kyle was simply awesome. We got Jason on the phone from Wachovia who listened to all of the concerns that both Kyle and I had. We also went over all of my previous conversations that I had with Wachovia. Jason informed us of the new ‘Map Program’ (by Titanium Solutions) that was going to be available to those that held mortgages that were current. Thankfully, I fell in that category. Right now the programs that are available are only available to those that are close to  going through foreclosure. Thankfully, I don’t fall in that category.

Kyle asked questions and made statements that I felt were in my best interest and made sure that my file would not fall through the cracks and get lost. He wanted assurance that  my file was updated and that although he understood that those in foreclosure needed help now, he wanted to make sure that this program would be available to me so that I didn’t turn out to be in the same foreclosure position in the near future. When Kyle asked when this program would be available to me. Jason said that he did not know.  Kyle did not give up. He asked, ’30 days? 6 months?  – Can you give me a date?’  Jason informed him that this program should be available within the next two weeks and no more than 30 days, and that they would contact me. However, I could also call back, and check in with them.  Of course I noted in my Palm Pilot to alert me to make that phone call in two weeks.

We finished our phone conversation with Jason. I chatted for a few minutes more thanking Kyle for giving me such great support and service. I asked him if he could be my counselor, as I felt so comfortable with him and he now understood my position thoroughly. He was very thankful for the praise, and happy that he could help me. He ended by saying that said he learned everything from my counselor and assured me that my counselor would work in my best interest also.  However he did say for me to cc him in any future correspondence should I have any more problems and just to keep him posted on my progress. “You bet I will”, I said.

So, there you have it. I have not given up on Wachoiva or Springboard. Thanks to Kyle, I have the report that I need and today I am calling to schedule a meeting with the second level counselors. In another week, I will be making that phone call to Wachovia to inquire about the availability of the Map Program.

Oh…and before I forget, I did as Robert suggested and sent e-mails to my representative and congress, and to no surprise I have not received one response back. However, it has only been a little over a week. We’ll see if I get a response this week.

I have a little bit more hope than I did last week. I will continue to blog about my experiences contemporaneously. Please share your stories too. I know that many of you are having the same challenges that I am, but if you are having any successes I’d like to hear about that too  - Thanks.

Hi Al:  First of all , thank you for signing the petition.

Secondly, I usually bring to light women’s issues because I am passionate about women and women’s issues, and quite frankly, when women are in charge of this planet, and men are treated like second class, I will jump on the bandwagon and bring the men’s issues to light – okay?  Presently, it is usually men who are in charge of making these decisions over women’s health. In my opinion, no woman in her right mind would ever vote for a woman to leave the hospital 2 hours after a mastectomy, nor would she approve the type of care that you received during your reconstruction surgery. EVERYONE deserves the time they need to heal and to be taken care of by a professional.

As an example, Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician vote every year on the 50 most powerful physician executives in healthcare. This year the top person holding the position is a woman (Yeah! Congratulations Carolyn Clancy!), but there are only 6 other women who made this year’s 50 most powerful list! Men have most of the power here. And although the readers vote, you can see that the majority are voting for men. So….

…in light of Robert’s comment a few days ago and Tal’s comment that I posted yesterday, in regards to women being the majority of the voter population, I will say, “Shame on you women out there that haven’t been supporting women.  We have a majority voice and it needs to be heard.” I know I’m being redundant but sometimes things need to be said over and over again until they sink in. So here it is again; an excerpt from Tal’s comment:

It is my opinion that as long as women continue to ask a man for equality rather than simply taking her place along side of him by force of will, she will remain a second class being dependent upon the mood of the 1st class being for her level of comfort.

Before you get upset, examine the state of women in america today, honestly. She has the numerical numbers at the polls to elect a woman for every single office in the land. Yet, she consistently elects males over females. When those males she elects take office, she pleads with them to understand her plight as a woman. Duh, you think it would occur to her to elect a woman. If the supreme court were equally or 5 Women (as it should be according to the population numbers) we would not be hearing all this debate about what a woman should do with her body.

Women readers:  Do you get it? Now, let’s do something. Let’s take that position along side of men.

Back to you Al.

Thirdly, you are right, our medical system is a joke.  And like Connie I would rather have our government accountable than an insurance employee. The bottom line should always be safety first for the patient, not whether they’re saving a buck or two.

Connie: Thank you for sharing your story.  I am sorry to hear about your mother and I hope that she is doing well now.

Juanita:  I wouldn’t call that a ‘nice quiet poem’, but it did make me chuckle.

Article Topicless

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 16th May 2009

It’s Saturday morning…I slept in late, and my mind is still foggy from hours deep in my own film noir. And yes, I did wake up dreaming. :)

Coffee is needed and coffee is what I’m going to get. Writing?….hmm…I think this is all you’re going to get from me this morning: Article Topicless.

However, the God topic is interesting….I’m sure there is more out there to be said by all of you. Me? I’ll pass and go sip on my coffee in the glorious sunshine in my backyard.

Peace  out….

The Creatures In Our Lives…

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 9th May 2009

Good Morning!

Speaking of ‘evolution’….this one is for you Anna & Peter…

Creatures living on violent undersea volcano give climate change survival clue

By Clare Bates/ Dailymail.co.uk

An active underwater volcano which spews torrents of lava and noxious gas has become a surprising hotspot for sea critters, scientists revealed today.

Studying them may provide answers to how sea life could adapt to the world’s increasingly acidic oceans, they said.

The unique volcano near the island of Guam erupts so frequently that it has built a new cone 131ft high and 984ft wide in just three years.

‘That’s as tall as a 12-story building and as wide as a full city block,’ said expedition leader Bill Chadwick, a volcanologist at Oregon State University.

But despite the tumultuous conditions a large number of creatures including shrimp, crab, limpets and barnacles, have thrived at the volcano called NW Rota-1.

‘They’re specially adapted to their environment and are thriving in harsh chemical conditions that would be toxic to normal marine life,’ said Chadwick.

‘Life here is actually nourished by the erupting volcano.’

Sea water is slightly alkaline, but the rise of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has been mirrored by an increase of CO2 dissolving in the oceans and forming carbonic acid.

Ocean acidification is a serious concern because it can be fatal to some fish eggs and larvae and interferes with the formation of shells.

‘Submarine volcanoes are places where we can study how animals have adapted to very acidic conditions,’ Chadwick said.

‘Volcanic gases make the eruption cloud extremely acidic – worse than stomach acid.’

Verena Tunnicliffe, a biologist from the University of Victoria, said that two species of shrimp had revealed intriguing adaptations to volcano living.

‘The ‘Loihi’ shrimp has adapted to grazing the bacterial filaments with tiny claws like garden shears,’ said Tunnicliffe.

‘The second shrimp is a new species – they also graze as juveniles, but as they grow to adult stage, their front claws enlarge and they become predators.’

The new species attacks the Loihi shrimp and preys on marine life that wanders too close to the volcanic plumes and dies.

‘We saw dying fish, squid, and so on, raining down onto the seamount, where they were jumped on by the volcano shrimp – a lovely adaptation to exploiting the noxious effects of the volcano,’ Tunnicliffe said.

The international science team had previously visited the hydrothermal site in 2004 and 2006, but this was the first time they studies the volcano in detail and close up.

The latest mission took place during April 2009 and the team captured dramatic new images of the volcano’s eruptive behaviour with the remotely operated vehicle Jason.

‘It was amazing how close Jason can get to the eruptive vent because the pressure at a depth of 1,700 feet in the ocean keeps the energy released from the volcano from becoming too explosive,’ Chadwick added.

Some of the most intriguing observations came when the volcano slowly pushed lava up and out of the erupting vent.

‘As this was happening, the ground in front of us shuddered and quaked, and huge blocks were bulldozed out of the way to make room for new lava emerging from the vent,’ Chadwick said.

NW Rota-1 provides a one-of-a-kind natural laboratory for the investigation of undersea volcanic activity and its relation to chemical-based ecosystems at hydrothermal vents, where life on Earth may have originated.

‘It is unusual for a volcano to be continuously active, even on land,’ Chadwick pointed out.

‘This presents us with a fantastic opportunity to learn about processes we’ve never been able to directly observe before,’ he said.

Part of the evidence that the volcano is in a constant state of eruption comes from an underwater microphone – or hydrophone – that was deployed a year ago at NW Rota-1 by OSU geologist Bob Dziak.

The hydrophone ‘listened’ for the sounds of volcanic activity. Another hydrophone and other instruments will monitor the volcano in the coming year.

The international team included scientists from OSU, the University of Washington, University of Victoria, University of Oregon, NOAA’s Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory, New Zealand and Japan. The research was funded by the National Science Foundation.

********

Hmm…creatures….they do affect our lives…and we affect theirs. Yesterday we had quite a few comments about some of the little creatures and how they affect our lives, ranging from raccoons to bedbugs – the latter I can live without.

And now these little new species of shrimp. I thought this would be interesting to all of you science readers out there – yes? Does it make you feel differently about global warming? Share your thoughts and  comments. You know what to do.

Ruth:  Thank you for telling us about Rear Admiral Michelle Howard. I had no idea of her position in regards to the Somalia pirates. She is definitely a girlz :) All we ever heard was news on the success of the sharp shooters. I had to smile reading her recalling moments. Only a woman would think such thoughts.

Daniel: No it doesn’t make sense to me but as Zen Lill pointed out ‘Common sense is not that common.’

Hey Zen Lill: I thought about Lily when I was reading the article. And I thought of my dear friend Cat who lives in Texas and I know she would be totally against this.  Yep…I would give Arnie my two too if I were you.

Hi Pearl: Thanks for the warning. I love the little raccoons but I don’t love them in my garden. Dogs have a tendency to eat cat feces; Lucy indulges when she can.  And until you had mentioned children eating it raccoon feces, I didn’t even think our backyard having anything but cat feces. I hope she’s not chowing on that too.  Thankfully, Doug just went into our backyard and picked it up – he just informed me that he didn’t eat any so no worries there :)

And now bedbugs Donna? The thought of them gives me the creeps. And 5-star hotels are not immune. I will confess, living in LA going to college, I woke up twice with squashed roaches in my bed – Ug! Yuk! I can’t tell you how disturbing that was for me.

Trish:  Ok…that is quite a story. I know men have done some horrible things to women but leading this guy on that you love him and want to have his baby when all you want to do is pass on his sperm and implant it in your love, is just a bit wacky to me. The guy seems decent except for the fact that he won’t let you see his dick and he puts on this rubber extension to please you – which it doesn’t since you have no interest in men. So how do you expect to marry him and have this other life?  Okay so he has money – so what? Is it really worth marry him when you could be living a happy life with the woman you really love?

Since your story is so wacky, how about a wacky suggestion? Tell the guy you really like him and want to marry him, but that you are gay and you want him to impregnate your girlfriend. Maybe all of you can live together and raise the kid and live happily ever after.

Lelia: You can assure your cousin that I am no closet dike. Men just love to call me that because I call them out. I do love women and yes I will admit, I am attracted to some. In fact right now, I have a small crush on a lesbian acquaintance, but I definitely prefer men and only see myself in long term relationships with men. I hope that makes it clear to anyone who thinks differently of my sexual preferences. If not, I really doesn’t bother me. People will believe what they want to believe.

Samuel: Ah…it is the differences in all of us that makes the world so interesting and beautiful to me. No one will be edited out.

Anonymous: I think that president Obama is doing an excellent job of managing our country too,  and yes he does have his challenges. But I believe he will prevail.

DNSR!: I hope that you and BNMV! Have a great weekend! Any travel plans coming up?

Teri: I think Melinda answered your question so I’ll leave it at that. Unless of course any of the men want to chime in :)

I am off to enjoy this beautiful day – I hope it will be for you too where ever you are.

The Revolution Of Evolution?

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 8th May 2009

Hellooo….

This morning I’m going to first say hello to my loyal readers that I have not had the time to address before I write my write….and I promised that I would earlier – oops….I do not like to break a promise. And…if I never get to writing anything past my hellos…then, so be it.

Neila: Sorry that you missed your turn, but no, I did not shut my blog down – I would never! At least not voluntarily. All of you would get a huge heads up should I decide to leave blogsville. Not in my plans now or in the near future. Clear? :)

Now…in regards to a gimma connection: I don’t mind if you want to share some info with your other Finnish friends but gimma…c’mon it must be in English. Now what fun would it be for the rest of my readers if they can’t read it? We all want to learn hear.  And as far as you posting…I have no control of who gets in or not. Anna & Peter have been lucky but sometimes they have issues too.

Hi Beatrice: Yes, I believe the place to clone your pussy (not penetrable), or that not-marriage-material-but-sweet-dick-of-a-man – check it out and let me know if you clone him. :)

Joel: It sounds like you had some fun times but I say give up on the next madoff and make your own millions off that thing between your legs. Let us know when your first movie comes out – maybe I’ll post a clip here. You’ll be famous in no time. :)

Tom:  I’m sure your wife will love it.

Anonymous: Oh, your husband can’t be that small can he? If so, use it as a butt plug :)

Hey Fergie: I just love that name – you’re not the Fergie from the Black Eyed….oh forget it. I’ll just pretend that you are if you don’t mind – I love that girl. Anyway…I digressed. So…you love my blog? – cool – I love it too…and I am also a big fan of Rachel. And yes I do think she is gay, but like Zen Lill, don’t quote me on that.

Molly: I ask myself the same question all of the time. But I don’t just say, ‘What is wrong with our country?’, I say, ‘What is wrong with our world?’ Thanks for the reminder of that movie. Knowing this movie is about a small town in Texas and after yesterday’s write, it makes me want to say, ‘OTW’s – get the hell out of Texas – that is no place for you to be.’

And I agree with ZL.  You know you are not racist so don’t be ashamed. Be the opposite of what OTW’s get dished out to them on a daily basis. Smile, reach out, and be compassionate. Everyone wants to be accepted and treated kindly.

Anna: Not to create fear but the swine flu is expected to spread to every state which is probably why all that you listed is being sent to every state. Be well. Peter too :)

Hey Zen Lill: Your story sickens me. Cops jobs are to protect all people, not take on the position so that they can act out their racist beliefs while hiding behind the protection of their badges. Oh and the love? right back at ya. :)

DNSR!, Anonymous, Craig:  Thanks for posting the additional information. I was wondering if a class action lawsuit would come into the picture. I hope Garrigan pulls through for the plaintiffs.

Anonymous #11: You have given me inspiration for an article. Hopefully I will be blogging it over the weekend. Thanks.

~~~~~~~~~~
I do have a little time…so, onto today’s write…
And since we’re on the subject of Texas, here’s another little didley that should put some shock on your face. The Texas Board of Education approved a science curriculum that opens the door for teachers and textbooks to raise doubts about ‘evolution’. Conservatives on the Texas Board of Education don’t believe in ‘evolution’. Can you believe it? Yep, I do. They are once again waging the ever popular religious rights battle against reality, common sense, and every piece of empirical evidence ever gathered. Darwin is turning over in his grave as I write.
Critics of ‘evolution’ are thrilled over this decision. And they should be. ‘Evolution’ goes against every thing they believe in.
“Texas has sent a clear message that evolution should be taught as a scientific theory open to critical scrutiny, not as a sacred dogma that can’t be questioned.”
Governor Rick Perry, named Don McLeroy, to chair the Board’s business. And just who is Mcleroy? He’s definitely someone you should listen to about ‘evolution’.  Check this out…When he’s not busy lecturing others on the origins of the earth, he works as a dentist. Yep…and this dentist believes the earth is less than 10,000 years old.
Let’s just forget that the oldest members of Homo Sapiens were discovered in Africa a few years back. Remember? ‘Three partial skulls dated to 154,000 to 160,000 years ago, are the first strong fossil evidence that modern humans originated in Africa. These ancestors were African, with big brains, robust features, and a taste for hippopotamus and buffalo meat.’ Hmm….doesn’t that make the teeth just as old dentist Don?
Furthermore, he thinks “evolution has a problem,” and says school books just need to be “honest with our kids.” (!) Ah….okay. My advice? “Stick to the mouth Don.  Hopefully you’re much better ascertaining where cavities came from.”
So I digressed a bit but it was necessary. Back to the subject at hand….
“So exactly what is the board going to do?” Let me tell ya.
“The board has crafted a road map that creationists will use to pressure publishers into putting phony arguments attacking established science into textbooks.”
Unbelievable.
And…check this out….Texas is a huge purchaser of school textbooks. In fact, they are the nation’s single largest market for high-school textbooks. “So what’s the big deal?” you ask. The big deal is, that  in the past, publishers often have written texts to its curriculum, and marketed them nationally rather than spend time and money reworking them for different states and districts. So…don’t be surprised if this new compromised state standard seeps into other parts of the country, places where people think they are beyond the reach of the anti-evolution forces….you know…like California.  And don’t think for one smugly second they won’t try and infiltrate their message in your children’s science books.
Remember Texas is Bush Country. And Bush Country is filled with religious conservatives with deep oily pockets. Example: It took Clinton until the second year of his post-presidential life to raise $100 million for his presidential library. President Obama isn’t the only one to do wonders in 100 days. In this economy, Bush raised his $100 million in 100 days to fund his  ‘lie-berry’. ’Influencing’ publishers will be a piece of cake for the popular religious rights.  In fact they may not have to influence them at all – they want the biz, no? Payola time.
Now, I’m not trying to create another conspiracy theory. But hey, why not? With all that has been revealed to us about the past 8 years, conspiracy theories should not be a surprise anymore.  Bush may not be the elected man to run this country but that doesn’t mean him and his cronies don’t want control. And what better place to start your own little fiefdom but in your own backyard – Texas. And what better way to influence young people to think like you, but to have a say in what they read and believe? Scary huh?
I know, I know….I went a bit off subject again, but in my mind, it came around full circle.
Comments? Blog me.
Okay….that is it for me this morning. Happy Friday!
‘Insensitive’ Sessions
Posted by Michelle Moquin on 6th May 2009
I knew somebody would swing the blog banter back to some serious stuff.  Enough  pussy prattle….on to political powwow….at least for the moment. And Robert, why did I know it would be you? :)  It’s a good topic though, so I’m glad that somebody brought it up. Thank you.
And I totally agree with you. How transparent can the republicans be to pick a man that is so openly racist, to replace Arlen Specter on the Senate Judiciary Committee?  Jeff Sessions has not only made racist remarks about blacks but he even once called a white civil rights lawyer a disgrace to his race. Unbelievable. And then he said he was joking – yeah right. Sessions is a pro-lifer, so of course he voted ‘YES’ last year on prohibiting minors crossing state lines for abortion. And, no surprise he is against same sex marriages. In 2007 Sessions was ranked the  fifth most conservative member of Congress by the National Review. Gee…is it no wonder he is an extremely popular pick for the post among white evangelical social conservatives?
And Robert, in answer to your question: ‘Yes, there always needs more to be said about the ‘insensitivity’ ( and you are being kind here) of the white boy.’
And I’ll leave it up to Rachel Maddow to show us just how ‘insensitive’ Sessions really is – watch the video:
Readers: Interested in finding out more? Go to my fave site for this. Click here if you want to see how Sessions voted – as always, the voting record says it all.
Okay…back to the pussy. I just have to – the comments were just too much fun to read.
Oh I am with you ZL – the word ‘willy’ is not a word I would ever use. And I liked your blog topic – Good subject. keep ‘em coming  :)
DNSR!: Why did I know this subject would bring you back? :)
Betty:  LOL – yeah, let the ‘pervert’ clone your pussy – why not? He obviously loves it or he wouldn’t want a clone of it.
Carrie:  Thanks for the um…peek into your bedroom. I think that you could just follow the same directions for cloning your ass as you would cloning your pussy, but don’t quote me – I have no idea – I would contact the company by clicking on the link in yesterday’s post. As far as a penetrable one – hey, if you find a company that can make one for you, let us all know. (Wow, I can’t beieve that I am saying this)
Viola: Loved the story about your mom, and I love the fact that she and her friends read my blog. My mother doesn’t even own a computer. I was going to get her one and then I thought, ‘Ah….not a good idea.’
OMG: Girl, – get a mirror and check out that pretty pussy of yours and give her the admiration she deserves.
Toni: You seem like one lucky girl and my guess is he is a very lucky man too. Have fun cloning!
Oh…peeps I have more to say but I literally have 5 minutes to get my clothes on and get my ass out of this house – I will address the rest of you on this very personal topic tomorrow…promise.
Bye Bye…
