Racist Ads Stigmatize Black Women

Good morning.

Well…I can see the Chlamydia conversation was one worth writing and having with your significant other. I can also see that it was a pretty sensitive topic and rightly so – why wouldn’t it be when it is concerns our life? You now know my thoughts on the matter, and now I know yours. I HOPE that my broaching the topic and you all discussing it will matter in someone’s life, if not many. Thanks for digging in deep and releasing your thoughts.

So…onto today’s topic. This story was brought to my attention from Doug.  A local story that includes a local girl Alicia Walters, with Trust Black Women California. An associate of Doug; I have not had the pleasure of meeting Alicia myself yet, but I look forward to it!

Groups Say ‘Black & Beautiful’ Pro-life Ads Racist

A new pro-life campaign in California seeking to combat abortion in the black community is drawing charges of racism from Planned Parenthood and pro-choice advocates.

The state currently leads the nation in abortions, with more than 214,000 performed in 2008. And national statistics suggest pregnant black women are three times as likely to have the procedure.

In response, The Issues4Life Foundation and The Radiance Foundation have launched a pro-life billboard campaign with the goal of saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of black babies aborted in America each year.

“The impact of abortion in the black community is the Darfur of America,” Walter B. Hoye II, president of the Issues4Life Foundation, told Life Site News.

CBN News spoke with Concernced Women for America CEO Penny Nance about the billboard campaign and criticism surrounding its message.  Click play for her comments following Efrem Graham’s report.

The signs in question contain the message “Black & Beautiful” and are going up in largely black communities in Oakland, Calif.

“I had an appointment with death. My mother’s name was in a book,” one pro-life advocate said at a news conference Saturday. “There was an appointed time for me to die, and if God hadn’t broken that appointment, I wouldn’t be here today.”

But Planned Parenthood and California pro-choice groups are calling the ads racist. They say the “black & beautiful” slogan is too close to the “black is beautiful” cultural-pride campaign made popular in the 1960s.

“The fact that this has been co-opted is something that is obviously only meant to divide us. I think our community can see right through it,” said Alicia Walters, with Trust Black Women California.

Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., has also spoken out against the billboards.

“I am deeply offended by the race-based billboards that are being displayed in my congressional district by the Radiance Foundation and Issues4life,” she said in a statement.

“These billboards stigmatize women of color and perpetuate myths about parenting skills and the types of women who seek and use abortion services,” Lee added.

But the organizations behind the billboard say it is Planned Parenthood that targets poor black women and deny black children the right to live.

Planned Parenthood dismissed the charge.

“The reason why there is a different rate of abortion is because those communities lack access to preventive health care services,” Lupe Rodriguez, director of public affairs for Planned Parenthood, said.

Readers: A little side note about the term/word “pro” when used in front of words such as “life” or “active”. It’s a bunch of BS. Since when is anyone against “Life” or being “Active”. You can say I am “pro abortion” because there are people who are against abortion. You can say you are ” pro choice” because there are people who are against you having a “choice”. But you can’t say that you are “pro Life”, because that means that there are people who are “against life” – and just who is “against life”?

A little off subject but in the same vein….as far as the word “proactive”- “Let’s be “proactive.” Huh? You can’t be “proactive”. That word should be thrown out of the dictionary. You are being “reactive” to a situation. You can’t be “proactive” to a situation before it happens, because any action that you take is in “reaction”, therefore you being “reactive”. The only way you can be proactive is if you are God and you are starting something. Unless you’re God, you are “reactive”.

People who use these kind of terms are just trying to sell you something. “Proactive” is an advertising word. It makes you  feel like you need something that you need. It is a BS word that makes you feel good. Makes you feel you’re doing something that you aren’t doing. It works for the stupid and for the people talking to the stupid. If you give someone that word and they run with it they are just reacting to what the person just told them to do.

Thoughts? Ideas? Rants? Revelations?  Blog me.

Michelle that was a great topic to bring up and I like Robert’s ending. At last a man not afraid to tackle your subject matter directly without the mystical bull shit.

I really enjoyed the read of the others also. As usual the comments were all over the place. As so many of your regulars pointed out, your blog is an uncensored medium which presents a microcosm of the world’s opinions.

Of the men who commented, I liked Robert’s the best so I will play devil’s advocate with his.

From the top let me congratulate Robert on his pointing out that the definition of “slut” or “tramp” applies to both male and females. To date men are still the sole arbiters in the dictionary world of meanings.

As such they continue to try to make the female believe she is the only one whose behavior can be promiscuous. They attempt to enforce that stereotype by continuing to define slut as “a slovenly or promiscuous WOMAN.” Their position being that a man cannot be a slut.

That would be a “proactive”(bullshit) statement. So allow me to react to the male’s attempt to force women to believe they are the only ones who can behave as a slut. Although most unenlightened women continue to use the term to refer solely to women in a derogatory way, men who behave promiscuously are sluts too.

The same is true for the word “tramp.” Again the male attempts to program our thinking by establishing that the “informal” definition of the word tramp is “a promiscuous woman.” And although most unenlightened women continue to use “tramp” as a derogatory reference to females only, I also, like Robert, use it to refer to the promiscuous behavior of men.

Before I get deep into Robert’s post, I would like to address a few side issues brought up by various women on the issue of telling men that we will hold them criminally and civilly libel for any STD they give us.

First any prior discussion about commitment before you have sex with a man is useless. When a man is in heat(thinking with his little head) he will say anything to get laid, likewise to continue getting laid.

The point of Michelle’s dialogue is to alert all men that they will be held accountable for their actions if their unprotected sex practices gives their significant other a STD. A secondary purpose is to perhaps deter some from continuing to practice unsafe sex when they have significant others.

Ladies I know this may come as a surprise to you but I have heard from many women who have relationships with men who have had vasectomies. My experience is that ALL of them will at some point in their lives have an unprotected sex experience. Why you may be asking?

Well, ladies think about it. Women who take the pill solely to prevent getting pregnant often have unprotected sex because they don’t feel they are risking getting pregnant. Therefore they spend their time only contemplating whether their potential sex partner may be the type to have a STD, or they just risk it if the moment is hot enough and the man doesn’t have a condom.

Men who have vasectomies are not different. They get them to prevent pregnancies. That is it’s only purpose. Therefore EVERY man who has had a vasectomy will at some point in his life have unprotected sex. If you believe that your man hasn’t or won’t, then you are just being naive.

Men are self-centered, sluts, tramps, hypocrites, and lazy lovers by nature. There is no way they are going to go through the pain and inconvenience of a vasectomy operation without the thought that they can now fuck without the ramification of having some woman show up on their significant other’s doorstep with a baby or pregnancy announcement as one of their motivations.

Men will nearly always allow that little head of theirs to lead them into rationalizing “no way could this woman have a STD, so it is okay if I fuck her without a condom.” She can’t get pregnant, so it’s a free fuck is their rationalization. No one will be the wiser.

Then they come home with all the sex partners that she has had festering in their dick. And they smile at you, tell you how much they love you and drop that history into your trusting pussy.

Now some women will forgive that. But as Robert pointed out. The guy will always do it again, if she does. Logic would say, nothing has changed. He is still a man and he cheated and got away with it. You forgave him. His logic is he knows what he did wrong, therefore he won’t get caught again and if he gets caught, hey you forgave him once.

To a man that means you have even more invested in keeping the relationship going, so you will most likely forgive him again. To a man it is always worth the risk when his little head takes the lead.

My advice is; give your man a condom when you give Michelle’s speach. Tell him you are giving him a condom not as permission to cheat on you, but so he will have no excuse if he gives you anything. Point out to him using it will not mean that you will forgive his transgression if you catch him cheating, but it will insure that you do not take him to court if you don’t get a STD..

Emphasize the criminal and civil court issue because a man who is going to cheat doesn’t care about the risks he exposes you to if he doesn’t use that condom. But he may wear a condom if cares about the court risks he exposes himself to if he doesn’t use that condom.

However, when you give him the solo condom to put in his wallet(stand there and make sure he puts it in his wallet). After he has put it in his wallet, pull out the other two(they usually come in three’s) and give them to him while saying, “I gave you the first one, but it is up to you to keep a fresh one in your wallet. Telling me later that the condom was too old or that it broke will not save you from my anger or taking you to court if you give me a STD.

I know this is a difficult thing to do. But men cheat without wearing a condom! Is your pride worth a lifetime of herpes, or some other STD treatment? Is it worth your life or years of cervical cancer treatment?

As Robert said, it is time that women start to error in the favor of good health and long life. What man who truly loves you would object to you taking a little precaution to insure that you will have a measure of piece of mind when he puts his naked dick into your unsuspecting body.

Ras said “don’t try that american woman’s shit on me” when I gave your speech to him. Then he stormed out of our flat.

I was crying and cursing you under my breath when I called my best girl. She asked for the link and said that she has been wanting to tell me for over a year now that Ras makes passes at her when she comes over to pick up our kids to take then to school in the morning.

She said it was getting so she was going to tell me that she couldn’t do it because she hated going up to our flat when I wasn’t home.

I am shocked. I always thought I could trust Ras. We have two beautiful children together.

  6. Health Info Says:

S THAT A FOOD ALLERGY — OR A DIFFERENT PROBLEM?

An astonishing number of people now have food allergies — not. A number of recent studies have found that most people who believe they have food allergies actually don’t —

one small study puts that figure as high as 90%! This state of affairs led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health, to release new guidelines to provide a uniform strategy for diagnosing and managing food allergies.

I spoke with Matthew Fenton, PhD, chief of the asthma and allergy branch of NIAID, to find out more…

    WHAT’S YOUR REAL PROBLEM?

The new guidelines, which you can see on The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology Web site at http://www.JACIOnline.org/article/S0091-6749(10)01566-6/fulltext, define a food allergy as “an adverse health effect arising from a specific immune response that occurs reproducibly on exposure to a given food.”

Or, in easier-to-digest language, most food allergies result from a mistaken response by the immune system, which identifies something you eat as a threat and then creates antibodies to attack it and fight it off.

These antibodies usually are what create the allergy symptoms. But, Dr. Fenton told me, what many (if not most) people call food “allergies” are actually more accurately described as “intolerances,” especially in the case of lactose, food dyes and chemicals such as MSG.

(You may recall that we recently covered a similar phenomenon as it relates to fructose in the March 7, 2011, issue of Daily Health News.)

What’s the difference? Intolerances are not caused by the immune system, and they tend to be complex reactions (for instance, causing stomach upset and/or headaches) that worsen as you eat more and more of the food.

Allergies, on the other hand, cause symptoms such as redness, itching, tightness in the throat, shortness of breath or anaphylactic shock.

Both are troublesome, but it’s important to identify whether your reaction is an allergy or intolerance because the two have different consequences — allergies are dangerous while intolerances are merely terribly unpleasant. And they require different treatments.

    WHAT IT ALL MEANS

If you suspect that you have a food allergy — or if you now suspect that you don’t have a food allergy, but rather an intolerance — discuss your concern with your doctor.

A detailed medical history and perhaps a skin prick test and/or blood antibody test will help distinguish between intolerance and allergy.

Important! Tests are done on extracts, which are purified, as opposed to foods, which often contain multiple ingredients.

Therefore, a negative result to a test using an extract is not really definitive. It is important to be aware that in the real world, foods may contain other ingredients that you may or may not know they contain.

Meanwhile, a positive result does not necessarily confirm an allergy. It means that you have a sensitization to a food that could be either an allergy or an intolerance.

    THE TRUE TEST

For these reasons, Dr. Fenton suggests that people who believe they have food allergies should get confirmation by having a tightly controlled oral challenge performed by an allergist in a setting where he/she has access to medications and equipment to treat severe reactions.

You will be instructed to avoid the suspected food for a certain length of time (usually an hour or two) before your appointment.

Then, while you are in the doctor’s office, you will consume gradually increasing amounts of the food. Your doctor will monitor your reaction to determine whether you have an allergy or intolerance and, of course, will be able to provide appropriate treatment if your reaction veers into dangerous territory.

Since there are no FDA-approved treatments for food allergy at present, you will then have to avoid the food that you are allergic to.

It’s good news to learn that foods you are intolerant of — but not allergic to — aren’t truly dangerous to your health but, of course, an intolerance produces unpleasant symptoms itself, so it makes sense to follow the very same advice — eat something else.

Interesting comments re: how the talk went over.

I did that chat thing (sans prosecution, probably bc I didn’t think you could litigate such a thing, I haven’t heard of a case like that going to court, have you? It would be a landmark case…and would love to read about it. I know you have atty’s reading here, how about it – ever get a STD prosecution case?) and the handing condoms to the hub when we lived in Singapore and he was traveling, I was asked here why I didn’t ‘afford’ myself the same opportunity to cheat- think it was Jorge who asked, can’t remember, and to that, I’ll say: who says I didn’t, though it isn’t my MO to look for it, and yep, I am fully a ‘no glove no love’ type, and I have never been so engaged in the heat that I would not walk away…

I just realized that I get a beating for things that Alycedale and Robert often get full passes for bc they word their statements in a more ‘here’s the manifesto-read it’ kind of way. (thats no offense to either of you, in fact, I’ll study your comments and word mine accordingly in the future)…and I’m not offended – this place has made me much tougher over the 3 years : )

  10. Jerry Says:

    Zen Lill – You asked

Did you know that laws pertaining to the intentional exposure of an unknowing individual to sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) by a knowing partner allow for damage claims? These rights pertain to both consensual and nonconsensual sexual encounters. Additionally, civil legal rights make it a crime to knowingly expose a consenting sexual partner to an STD without their knowledge.

  11. Hellena Says:

    You left this out Jerry
    ================

What are the most common STDs?

Two of the most common STDs are herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2), also known as genital herpes, and human papilloma virus (HPV), which causes genital warts.

Herpes affects 45 million Americans and causes painful lesions around the penis or vulva, along with flu-like symptoms such as fever and headache. HPV affects another 20 million Americans, and is believed to be a leading cause of cervical and vulvar cancer.

How can an STD claim be made successfully?

The success of these suits often hinges on the curability of the STD. While some STDs such as Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia are easily treated with antibiotics, other STDs such as Herpes, Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and HIV/AIDS are not.

Victims of incurable STDs have a better chance of success against their partner in suing for their affliction because these often have longer lasting effects that give rise to damages.

How to take legal action for an STD infection

When it comes to the civil liability incurred by perpetrators of intentional STD transmission cases, victims have numerous legal rights when it comes to filing civil suits against named defendants.

Damages that can be recovered from the victim through filing a successful lawsuit include items such as prolonged medical costs to treat the given STD, psychological trauma, pain and suffering, and infliction of emotional and mental distress.

Michelle, as a black woman who works in Germany I can tell you that white american has managed to spread their special brand of hatred and racial bigotry all over the world and especially here in Germany.
    ========================================
(NEWSER) – Swastikas may be outlawed in Germany, but that doesn’t mean that neo-Nazi signs have disappeared. Coded letters, numbers, and other symbols communicate support of the extremist philosophy among those “in the know” in German society, reports Der Spiegel.

The numbers 14 and 88, for example, which can be seen on placards waved at soccer games, indicate neo-Nazi support, according to a brochure on the complex code that’s revealing a growing political movement.

Some 150 different neo-Nazi codes currently exist in German society, according to the brochure, titled Hide and Seek and written by expert Michael Weiss.

HH stands for “Heil Hitler,” which is also banned in Germany, and the number 14 refers to the 14 words of American white separatist David Lane when he said: “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.”

The codes are found on license plates, at athletic events, and on tattoos. Some 195 extremist groups with 26,000 members exist in Germany, but sympathizers can also be found in many other more mainstream factions of German life, according to Der Spiegel.
    ==============================
American white bigots are the chief exporters of racism worldwide. They support and encourage fringe groups in other countries to start up extreme racist organizations.

Wilma, too true, she was on notice and nope he woulda been out the first time, no forgiveness there. And she would’ve had a case then.

Sometimes forgiveness is given bc we want to believe its a isolated incident and some people do learn lessons, more often they don’t though. Too bad…

Helena, yours was what I was looking for so thank you, you see, you’d probably have to file the pysch/emotional trama on the chlamydia factor bc it’s considered curable with antibiotics, the others HPV/herpes and HIV/AIDS would fly on their ownmerit in terms of incurability factor but your stuck with a death sentence more or less…

    Thank you – Zen Lill

  14. Erica Says:

Zen Lill, while your thought on “forgiveness” is admirable and I agree that “some people do learn lessons,” I will take Robert’s advice when he suggested rather than give the man a second chance and thereby a second shot at me, I would do better to err towards the safety and health of my own body. To do that means I would have to assume that he WON’T learn a lesson, and dump the bastard.

No problem, Robert, I could do that.

    Erica

  15. Mica Says:

Ditto, Erica. Why do what that woman did who is now left with suing for $25million? If she had dumped him in the first place she would not be afflicted with all the other terrible STD infections she not has.

Frankly, no amount of money is going to make her life better if her body is so racked with all the pain and suffering that stuff is causing her. Even if she wins, what has she won? This might just be the case where money can’t buy happiness because her health, sex life, and maybe how long she will live has been immeasurably shortened.
