Here Come The Hypocrites
Posted by Michelle Moquin on September 1st, 2011
Good morning!
Let’s see…Florida is getting ready for the 2012 republican convention…and it won’t be the hot weather they’re preparing for. Nope, it will be the hot sweaty hands of the GOP stuffing dollar bills down the panties of pole dancers, and shelling out the big bucks for prostitutes. Wha’at?! Not the moral, conservative republicans who value family and the sanctity of marriage? Yep, you guessed it. This is big money making time for these adult playgrounds when the GOP is in town; they expect a 30% spike in sales. And don’t think for a minute religion won’t be involved either. I can hear the fellas panting now… “Ah…Ahhh…OMG…I’m…I’m…c…!” You got the picture. Now here’s the write:
Adult Industry Prepares For 2012 GOP Convention
![]()
TAMPA, Fla. — Following an extensive remodel, the Penthouse Club in Tampa, Fla., is finally ready for next summer’s Republican National Convention. Club operator DeWayne Levesque has installed two secluded VIP sections, which he hopes will help his club attract a bigger share of the 50,000 visitors expected to descend upon the city on Aug. 27 for four days of conservative politics and liberal partying. In addition to the club’s new carpets and furniture, the private rooms are designed to provide cover so that camera-shy donors, politicians and aides can enjoy the strippers without fear of getting caught, he said.
A few blocks from the Penthouse Club, another strip club owner, Joe Redner, said he has high hopes for what the convention means for business at his all-nude club, Mons Venus. “I’m guessing we’ll make five times as much in a night as we usually do,” Redner told HuffPost. “Republicans got plenty of money. They take it all from poor people,” he said.
Redner said he thinks many convention visitors will be in the market for a lap dance, but newly-released academic research suggests that some will be interested in the darker elements of Tampa’s adult scene, too — sex for sale. HuffPost teamed up with Tampa-based reporter Shawn Alff, of the Creating Loafing media group, to examine the potential impact of the RNC on two major pillars of the city’s X-rated economy: prostitution and strip clubs.
“I can make between $50,000-$60,000 a night at Mons Venus during the days leading up to the Superbowl,” Redner explained, “up from $10,000-$12,000 on an average night.” When asked how a buttoned-up, political clientele might differ from a Superbowl crowd, Redner laughed. “All customers look [at the dancers] the same, no matter what they’re wearing or what they’re here for.”
Mons Venus typically closes at 5 a.m., but Redner said he would be willing to keep the club open 24-7 during the GOP convention if demand merits it. That said, he may charge clients a premium at the door. “During the Superbowl I charge $50 a head. I may decide to do that during the convention, too.”
In the meantime, Redner’s got a few bones to pick with GOP policymakers. “[Republicans] keep saying this stuff about how if we tax the rich, then small businesses won’t be able to grow. But I’m a small business owner, and I put all my money right back into my businesses in the form of capital improvements, which I don’t pay taxes on anyway. So their argument isn’t how reality works.”
Another adults-only perk for conventioneers are scheduled appearances at clubs by well-known female adult film stars. Agent Brian Gross, who represents actresses Joanna Angel, Ryan Keely and Alexis Ford told HuffPost that “large events … give big name adult stars who dance on the circuit a great opportunity to get in front of a large crowd for their on-stage performances.”
One star who might feel right at home during the convention is Lisa Ann of the “Nailin’ Palin” adult film series, which lampooned the former governor of Alaska. Lisa Ann is currently touring, but no word on whether she’s slated to hit Tampa next summer. X-rated starlets also offer the clubs a competitive advantage, which is critical in an industry that Redner said has been hard hit by the Great Recession.
For those with cash to spend, however, the options abound. An adult video producer who gave his name as “Brandon” said he plans to offer conventioneers an erotic limo service that includes the company of “models.”
But don’t expect to see Washington big-shots climbing out of Brandon’s limo anytime soon. “The people in Tampa from D.C. will be there to work, not to get caught in a limo with [that stuff],” said a veteran Republican operative. “Now the delegates, that’s another story, because they’ve only got one thing to do the whole time, which is vote for the nominee.”
He also pointed to the recent surge in opposition video-trackers as a possible deterrent for strip clubs and the like. “I remember seeing ambush video guys outside of parties as far back as the 2008 convention in Minneapolis,” he recalled, “and there’s just so much more this time around.” No doubt many Republicans also vividly remember the public outcry caused by a party-sanctioned visit to an L.A. bondage club last year.
For Republicans, elevated risk means that a higher premium will likely be placed on discretion, and this could be good news for Tampa’s other adult services industry — prostitution — which is quietly poised for a 30 percent spike in sales during the Republican National Convention.
This number represents the findings of a study released by Baylor University this year, which measured the impact of the 2008 Democratic and Republican conventions on prostitution markets in Denver and Minneapolis. To gather data, researchers tracked new ads for prostitutes online at Cragslist.com’s now-defunct “Erotic Services” section, as well as the more exclusive escort site Eros.com.
The results showed that both conventions “increased the count of Craigslist sex worker ads by a substantial amount.” In Minnesota, the researchers observed “a 29-44 percent increase in Craigslist ads in Minneapolis during the RNC.” The Democratic convention, meanwhile, produced a 47-77 percent increase in ads for sex workers in Denver. The actual number of new ads posted during the conventions, however, was nearly identical for both cities. Denver had fewer ads to begin with, so it grew by a larger percentage.
Perhaps surprisingly, the one group of sex workers who didn’t benefit from the 2008 conventions were the high-priced escorts on Eros.com — the kind of women who have been linked to more than a few politicians in the past. One of the authors of the study, Dr. Scott Cunningham, recalled a high-priced escort who explained the trouble with political conventions. “She said to me, ‘Scott, there just isn’t enough disposable income at those political things. But there’s a really great radiology convention up in Chicago, and I always go to that.’”
The reality, however, is that most of Tampa’s prostitutes won’t be jetting from one convention to the other. Conversely, they could end up in the hands of a man like Charles Fox, who ran a brothel in the middle of South Tampa for nearly seven years until he was arrested last month. According to police, Fox kept up to five women at a time enslaved in a small greenhouse using a combination of fear, drugs, alcohol and violence. He sold them to men online, controlled their every move, and took 100 percent of their earnings. Those who protested were tied up, raped, or worse.
For men like Charles Fox, political conventions are a great place to make money, said anti-trafficking advocate Andrea Powell. “You can be sure a pimp knows when large numbers of men are going to be in the area,” she said in an interview with HuffPost, “and he’ll do whatever he can to get his piece of that business.”
Powell is a co-founder of the Fair Fund, which helps rescue trafficked young women, and she said there is absolutely no way for a potential customer to know whether a prostitute has been trafficked.
“This concept that you can differentiate between willing sex work and trafficking is really complicated, because sex work fuels trafficking, and there’s so much money involved,” she said. “Consider that one girl can have sex with 15 men in a night, at $100 an hour. This means she’s producing $35,000-$40,000 a month for whoever owns her.”
With police resources stretched thin during the convention, officers are unlikely to make prostitution busts a big priority. “Our primary focus will be to ensure that we have a smooth and safe event,” Tampa Police Department spokeswoman Laura McElroy told WSFA this spring. “But we will enforce all of our laws, and have officers assigned to enforcing our prostitution laws.” Police also said they would be “keeping an eye on Craigs list [sic].”
But if that’s the plan, then Tampa law enforcement may be a few steps behind. Craigslist.com closed their “Erotic Services” section in 2009, under increasing pressure from the Justice Department and consumers. In response, much of the online prostitution jumped over to the Village Voice-owned site Backpage.com, which currently dominates the market (disclosure: Creative Loafing publishes classified ads on Backpage.com, although not for adult services). In Tampa, more than 480 new ads for adult services were posted to Backpage.com on Monday alone, with at least 230 of them tagged “Escort.” Many of these had disclaimers saying that hourly rates were for “companionship only,” and not for sex. But the photos suggest otherwise.
Unlike Craigslist.com, Backpage appears to welcome the chance to litigate any challenges to its adult services section. Their case is girded by a 1996 law that absolved individual websites of responsibility for illegal content posted by users. Last month, lawyers for Backpage.com won a victory in court when a judge dismissed a lawsuit that had been brought on behalf of a teenage girl forced into prostitution and sold by a pimp through Backpage.com.
As prostitution continues its steady migration from the street corner to the Internet, sites like Backpage are well-positioned to play an even bigger role at 2012 political conventions than Craigslist did in 2008. But a lot can happen in 12 months, and Backpage has powerful enemies. As the site fends off external threats, the toughest criticism leveled at the Mons Venus club may come from the owner himself. “I would never frequent a strip club if I didn’t own one,” Redner said. “I don’t like to be teased.”
This story is part of an editorial partnership with Creative Loafing Tampa and Creative Loafing Charlotte, the alt-weeklies covering the Florida and North Carolina cities that will host the 2012 Republican and Democratic National Conventions, respectively.

Readers: Okay let me be clear, this isn’t about strip clubs. I don’t see anything wrong with visiting a strip club; I have visited quite a few myself and have indulged in some pole dancing fun. But I do not perch myself on high moral ground and then cheat on my spouse, or pay for sex. Or talk about spending cuts, and then spend on corporate jets and strip clubs, etc. Nor am I a closet gay, fighting against gay rights and hoping to pray away the gay. It’s about the hypocrisy. I could go on and on but I think you got the picture? The GOP…How hypocritical can one be?
And I just have to say one last thing: What is even more ridiculous are the stupid women who buy this BS and support these so-called “moral” men. Ladies: Wake up. Start thinking for yourselves. See the truth; it’s right in front of your eyes.
Like I said, I could go on and on…but I’m done for now. Your turn. Blog me your thoughts.
Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. Why are we surprised that the “moral Party” is so amoral?
September 1st, 2011 at 2:17 pm
A ten year boy was asked to write an essay on Worry. He wrote.
Don’t Worry
There is no sense to it. Why do worms worry. Because the birds eat them. Why do birds worry. Because people shoot them and eat them. Why do calfs worry. Because people milk the milk and they don’ t get any. They even do it with electricity and machines. Why do people worry. That is what I ask.

How to Lose 12 Pounds… In Just 17 Days
New research points to surprising advantages of rapid weight loss.
Mike Moreno, MD
According to conventional wisdom, anyone who loses weight rapidly (more than a pound or two a week) will invariably regain the lost pounds because the diet will be too strict to maintain.
But some researchers are now finding evidence that slow isn’t necessarily better when it comes to weight loss.
New research: A 2010 study in the International Journal of Behavioral Medicine analyzed data from 262 middle-aged obese women.
Result: The fast weight losers dropped more pounds overall and maintained their weight loss longer than the gradual weight losers.
Good news: With rapid weight loss, most people can boost their metabolism, combat fat storage and help prevent obesity-related diseases, such as diabetes and certain types of cancer—all without feeling deprived of satisfying food.
Sound impossible? I’ve seen thousands of people lose weight by following what I call the 17 Day Diet.*
Why 17 days? This is roughly the amount of time it takes for your body’s metabolism to adapt to a change in calories. By varying your diet at 17-day intervals, you “trick” your metabolism into functioning at its maximum efficiency to help you reach your target weight. Four simple cycles to follow…
CYCLE 1: CLEANSE YOUR SYSTEM
For the first 17 days, the goal is to “cleanse” your system by eating lots of lean protein, such as poultry and fish.
Lean protein requires more energy to digest than carbohydrates, so it burns additional calories and helps control your blood sugar. Because it’s satisfying, protein also fights food cravings.
During this cycle, you’re also allowed as many vegetables as you like. You will need to temporarily cut out all grains, potatoes, pasta and desserts.
Doing this helps you avoid the dramatic fluctuations in blood sugar that fuel binge eating. Note: Use olive oil for cooking during this cycle.
Fruit is allowed but only before 2 pm—when sugar (including natural sugar from fruit) is less likely to be stored as fat.
Good fruit choices: Apples, berries, oranges, pears, plums and red grapes. These fruits are relatively low in sugar and high in fiber, which slows digestion and helps you feel full.
Avoid bananas and pineapple—both contain too much natural sugar.
During this 17-day cycle, people lose an average of 10 to 12 pounds (depending on their starting weights) while eating three to four meals daily plus snacks (for a total of 1,300 calories per day for men and women).
Some of this weight loss will be due to water loss—but this is also beneficial because fluid retention can contribute to fatigue.
Sample day’s meals: Breakfast—two scrambled egg whites… one-half grapefruit or other fresh fruit… one cup green tea. Lunch—fish, poultry or eggs… vegetables… one cup green tea. Dinner—fish or chicken… vegetables… one cup green tea. Snack — raw, cut-up veggies.
CYCLE 2: RESET YOUR METABOLISM
During the second 17-day cycle, the goal is to reset the metabolism by alternating higher calorie intake (1,500 to 1,700) on even days with lower calorie intake (1,300) on odd days.
Switching back and forth stimulates fat burning because it prevents your body from adapting to a certain level of daily calories.
Slow-digesting complex carbs, such as oatmeal, sweet potatoes and brown rice, are reintroduced during this cycle.
CYCLE 3: GOOD EATING HABITS
By now, a little more than a month since you started, your body has undergone a significant metabolic shift that will allow you to reintroduce moderate portions—
and no more than two to three servings per day before 2 pm—of carbohydrates such as whole-grain breads and pastas that may have made you feel sluggish or heavy before.
If you’ve reached your target weight, you may proceed to cycle 4, the maintenance cycle. If not, be sure to focus on portion control and continue to emphasize lean protein and nonstarchy vegetables, limiting carbohydrates after 2 pm until you reach cycle 4.
CYCLE 4: WEIGHT MAINTENANCE
During this cycle, which is followed indefinitely to maintain your weight loss, you are more strict with yourself throughout the workweek but relax your eating habits on the weekends.
From 6 pm Friday to 6 pm Sunday, you can enjoy your favorite indulgences, such as pizza or hamburgers, as long as you maintain portion control and enjoy no more than three indulgences over a single weekend.
This approach allows you to eat some favorite foods in moderation while also giving your metabolism the variety it needs to function efficiently.
Rule of thumb: Weigh yourself on weekends. If you gain five pounds or more over a week’s time, return to any of the earlier cycles.
OTHER SECRETS TO WEIGHT LOSS
In addition to following the cycles described earlier…
Get more probiotics. New research suggests that people who have an overabundance of “bad” bacteria in the intestinal tract are more susceptible to weight gain.
But healthful bacteria, known as probiotics (found in such foods as certain yogurts, sauerkraut and miso soup), control the proliferation of bad bacteria and help fight infection—and ensure that your metabolism functions effectively.
My advice: Aim to consume two daily servings of foods containing probiotics. Examples of one probiotic serving: Six ounces of fat-free plain yogurt or one-half cup of Breakstone LiveActive cottage cheese (which includes added probiotics).
Or: Take probiotic supplements, following label instructions.
Don’t forget to exercise. To avoid getting run down while you’re scaling back on calories (especially the first few days of cycle 1), do only 15 to 20 minutes of walking a day.
Thereafter, aim for at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise five days a week. Walking is a good choice, as is jogging, swimming, or using a stationary bicycle or an elliptical machine.
For strength training, make the exercises as aerobic as possible using lighter weights and more repetitions.
*Be sure to check with your doctor before you start this or any other weight-loss program.
Health interviewed Mike Moreno, MD, physician in charge of primary care and coordinator for new physician education at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego.
Dr. Moreno is the author of The 17 Day Diet (Free Press) and sits on the board of the San Diego chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
In 2008, Dr. Moreno launched “Walk with Your Doc,” a program that involves walking with his patients every Tuesday and Thursday morning before his workday begins to promote the benefits of exercise.

Here’s another example of that Just-Us justice white america practices. A cop on duty, in uniform gets caught on camera, screwing a woman on the hood of a car.
The police investigate and say he did nothing wrong.
==================================
NM officer having sex on car hood won’t be charged
Thursday, September 1, 2011
He’s in uniform and apparently on duty. But New Mexico State Police say the officer caught on camera having sex with a woman on the hood of a car did not commit a crime.
Video from a security camera of the encounter at the county-owned Canyon Ranch surfaced about two weeks ago.
State police spokesman Tim Johnson tells KQRE-TV ( http://bit.ly/qOPJ6t) an internal investigation has been done and the agency does not believe a crime occurred. He also says the officer will not be cited for lewd behavior.
Johnson declined to release the name of the officer, but KQRE reports he is an eight-year veteran of the department who’s currently on administrative leave.
==============================
If we get caught doing the same thing we will be arrested fro lewd conduct, be labeled a sex offender and god knows what else.
But this cop gets to fuck on the taxpayers dime in uniform, exposing himself in public and walks.
And talk about coddling criminals or aid and abetting them, the rank and file won’t give his name.
Thugs with badges comes to mind.
Nice if you are white and can get it.

MIsch, I agree it’s hypocritical but when it comes to so-called sexual ‘morality’ it is ironic how people act…and repugs are the worst bc they tout their morality so loudly, and that’s just ludicrous.
I’ve been researching many things but you all know that sex is a fave subject of mine so I’ll reveal what I’ve found out via google/search engines, therapists/sex trainers : ) (a personal favorite chat w/mistress E) through confidential interviews and w/my own views included in the conclusion, so here they are, like em’ or not re: morality/sex/relationships
Open relationships seem to be a way to go so there’s no deception/cheater words being tossed about, implying that someone is having cake and eating too (hmm I always eat my cake) while the other party is just in the dark (the very wrong part to me, if you want to do this, why not allow both parties to play? Or at least allow them to choose to play your way or leave you for their own way?).
…yet, having said all that – how many women, even knowing that they themselves might want to indulge here and there, openly say that or agree to that arrangement, hmmmm – leaving no other choice but to do what the heart (read: groin) wants, hers and his? Its a fact that we all crave a little ‘strange’ on occassion, we just either suppress the urge or weigh out the obvious disadvantages and indulge (and lie or tell out of guilt) or we don’t do it bc we care about, wouldn’t lie to, or whatever it is that we believe would make us ‘unfaithful’ i.e. bad (and since when does my ‘faith’ have to do with he/me stepping out for a day or two).
I don’t trust anyone to not crave what I myself (and many others secretly) do, so I’m more wide-eyed about the possibilities, and I’m not very jealous either (This is one point of major contention, overcoming ones jealousy, esp men, at least they were honest about it)…the real deal: most were only interested in the following things ‘are you in love with this someone else?’ asked directly after ‘did you use condoms?’ ( a female dominant question, of course : ) bc both of those do matter very much…
I think there’s a lot of grey area is all I’m saying and while sex has been studied and relationships have been studied, the two intermingled often play to fuzzy rules. I think that most people can handle forgiving one or two affairs (men, of course, being the more selfish types, are less forgiving of even one…thus leaving women at a disadvantage – fear of being tossed aside, see greg’s comments from a few days ago, that is a very real fear), and after that most people just leave and move on (and repeat the same with someone else, or hopefully find what they want…though there are no guarantees).
– OH and all of you who would never cheat, ever, will probably want to crucify me for speaking aloud but I’ve researched this one long and hard (pun intended)…and I know there are those of you that believe that even when someone more or less deprives you of sex that you shouldn’t step out, hmm, well, guess what…the temptation is stronger then and if you’re not having any activity at home, well peeps, life is short, and why does it have to be black and white in this regard, esp since there are so many sexless marriages, maybe an emotional marriage sans sexual monogamy works for those people and who am I (or you) to judge? Caveat: as long as it’s agreed upon, though the person who wants the least amount of sex usually inadvertently ‘runs’ the show and probably ‘wouldn’t stand for it’.
And remember this: it is sooo easy to stand there and say, you shouldn’t do that, but what if it were you, a sexual being, not having any for months perhaps years at a time, how would you feel then, bc at the end of the day…male/female we all like to be held, kissed and loved (i.e. make love/have sex) and that’s the facts…this is how a select group of people (male and female) along with many articles, see the situation of ‘morality’, please feel free to disagree.
And yes, women who do it are braver than men bc men more often than not are forgiven for ‘straying and lying’ and men are more selfish and less forgiving for her ‘straying and lying’…(makes women better liars to men out of necessity, but can you blame a woman, with men like Greg around having a one time only is very risky to disclose) – I never said any of this was right, just info gathered pointed this way…

I wonder what the cop has been doing the other 7 years on the taxpayer’s dime.
It seems if it is a state that oppresses the OTWs, then it bends over backwards to protect the thugs with badges hired to protect those racists and bigots and keep the OTWs in line.
Speaking from past experience, those same states seldom afford their female police officers the same pass. Had a woman officer been caught on tape, she would have been run out of town on a rail.
The truly sad part is that the women of the state would have been backing up the men for doing it. But you don’t hear a peep out of those women the example NM’s “finest” is setting.

Michelle, your “here come the hypocrites” can be cited anytime one of a city or state’s “finest” shows up at a crime scene acting all holier-than-thou.
I would gladly replace that “finest” with “thugs with badges.”
I know many of your reader have relatives in law enforcement. But probably just as many have relatives in the italian, mexican, asian or columbia mafias.
A criminal does not reflect on the relative, it merely reflects the image he/she projects by their criminal acts.

Michelle, if those republicans are anything like the bunch I run with there will be a good time had by all. The only restraint the gang I hang out with is never get caught,
After we set the standard and are the leaders of the ignorant, incestuous, pedophiliac, racist, xenophobic never-met-an-investment-scheme they didn’t like, rank and file.
My husband has been caught with his pans down by me, both his suns and two of his daughters. I know that one caught him and me while he was still married to her mother.
Later our sons caught him in the garage with the baby sitter. But he preaches every Sunday as the assistant of our deacon, the Rev Lonnie Chambers.
Hypocrisy abounds!!

SKIN CANCER MORE LETHAL IN DARK-SKINNED PEOPLE
Even people of color should be using sunscreen regularly for protection against skin cancer — but apparently it’s not happening.
A recent report said that only about 31% of African American adults use any kind of sun protection at all, such as wearing a hat and sunglasses — and 63% never use sunscreen.
The study, led by Latrice Pichon, PhD, from the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan and published in the March 2010 issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, surveyed more than 2,000 adult African Americans in California.
It said that while the potentially deadly skin cancer melanoma is 10 times more common in Caucasians than in African Americans, those dark-skinned individuals who do contract melanoma have only a 77% survival rate compared with 91% for Caucasians.
I spoke with Otis Brawley, MD, chief medical officer and executive vice president of the American Cancer Society, who said that the areas of the body where sun-related skin cancers are usually seen in African Americans include the nail beds, soles of the feet and palms of the hands. Also vulnerable are the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and genitals. All these are areas that tend to be more lightly pigmented.
HOW FAST DO YOU BURN?
Dr. Brawley said that many people, including African Americans, wrongly believe that the darker your skin is, the more innate protection you have overall against the sun’s damaging rays.
But this isn’t true — because dark-skinned people have lighter-skinned areas that remain quite vulnerable.
Another factor is your individual tendency to burn, he said, noting that a history of getting sunburns is a good indication that you should be extra careful no matter what your skin color.
“While people who are predisposed to tanning instead of burning are less likely to get skin cancer,” he said, “there’s no such thing as zero chance.
At the American Cancer Society, we recommend that all people, even those who tend to tan rather than burn, use sunscreen. Lower risk does not mean there’s no risk.”

Doug, that is the problem. Men always find a way to abuse women. I work with an organization here in the Sudan and the UN is notorious for abusing both women and young boys sexually.
Anonz was forced to leave because, he feared his presence was more of a hinderance than a help. The UN moved in in full force. At first we thought they would be some protection for the people.
But when they are not blackmailing us for their protection. They are strong arming the people they are here to protect for sex and whatever money they can get. they take bribes from whoever offers the most to look the other way.
If Anonz could see a way to come back, that would be the best. But he must be stretched very thin with the constant battles he was forced to meet.
Here he had to content with stopping the bombing and stopping the men of the women from abusing them. The men hated his interfering with their abuse but begged for his military assistance against Khartoum.
I just hope he can find a way. Maybe, if you asked Zen Lill?

Zen Lill, loved your post yesterday. What do you think about involved men who claim they just want to vacation by themselves?
===========
I know a number of married men who go on solo vacations. I call these “mancations” because they are typically activities that no women I know ever go on.
Let’s see… Kurt secluded himself in a little cabin in the woods, not only physically away from other people, but also inaccessible by cell phone.
Al spends two weeks each summer touring on his motorcycle, and blogs about it for friends and family.

Hey! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an
established blog. Is it tough to set up your own
blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m thinking about
making my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Many thanks
