“Honey, See you later, I’m off to the Doctor’s office to watch an abortion”
Posted by Michelle Moquin on March 22nd, 2012
Good morning!
It is women like this that need to have their heads examined. State Rep. Terri Proud (R-Tucson), and no doubt proud to be a republican, made a statement that she thinks “women should be required to watch an abortion before they receive the procedure“. Are you kidding me? First we have to fight off a Personhood bill, requiring the use of trans-vaginal ultrasound prior to a woman obtaining an abortion. And now Proud wants us to watch an abortion before we decide to have one. Let’s just make a movie – Pass the popcorn please – what’s next?
Seriously, how about requiring us to watch a tubal ligation before a we decide we don’t want babies anymore. Why not? How about before any procedure that has anything to do with our vaginas or abortions, we are required to watch it first? How about banning birth control and making it a requirement for each woman to have at least one baby? I’m serious because that is where this is leading. And if anyone thinks I’m crazy, just look at what we’ve been debating lately when it comes to women’s health, and our right to make our own decisions.
Terri Proud, Arizona State Representative, Explains Abortion Email
A Republican lawmaker in Arizona said Tuesday that she thinks abortion providers are dishonest with women about the procedure and that is why she emailed a constituent that she would like to require women to watch an abortion before having one.
State Rep. Terri Proud (R-Tucson) said in a statement Tuesday that “the abortion industry” has been “selling abortions” and that she would like to look at the health and safety of women. The statement responds to an email Proud sent to a constituent, saying that women should be required to watch an abortion before they receive the procedure.
“For too long, Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry have placed selling abortions above the health and safety of women,” Proud said in the statement, sent by her office from her state email account. “My message to a constituent last week emphasized my concerns with how abortion providers have not been honest with women about the realities of abortion, and the short and long-term risks of this dangerous surgical procedure.”
Proud — who described herself as a “pro-life legislator” — reiterated her support for several bills that have passed in Arizona, including a 24-hour waiting period before receiving an abortion and requiring a woman to receive an ultrasound before receiving an abortion. She said both laws are “steps in the right direction for our state.”
“I’m thankful to be a part of a state legislature that has taken bold action in recent years to protect women and preborn children,” Proud said in the statement.
Proud did not directly address the abortion-watching email, or the bill that provoked the email, which would make abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy illegal in Arizona.
Proud’s original email was published Monday afternoon on a political blog on theArizona Republic‘s website and called for the abortion-watching provision. The email answered a constituent who had emailed Proud to urge her to vote against the bill. The email was sent from Proud’s state account and was unedited.
“Personally I’d like to make a law that mandates a woman watch an abortion being performed prior to having a “surgical procedure”. If it’s not a life it shouldn’t matter, if it doesn’t harm a woman then she shouldn’t care, and don’t we want more transparency and education in the medical profession anyway? We demand it everywhere else.
Until the dead child can tell me that she/he does not feel any pain — I have no intentions of clearing the conscience of the living – I will be voting YES.”
The email immediately touched off a firestorm from Arizona Democrats, with Rep. Matt Heinz (D-Tucson) describing the email as a “hodgepodge of crazy.” Heinz, a physician, said the email showed that Proud did not realize that there are laws to prevent audiences at surgical procedures.
House Minority Leader Chad Campbell (D-Phoenix), who had described the email “going off the deep end,” said it could be Proud — one of Arizona’s more conservative legislators — showing a liberal side.
“Talk about big government, that’s the epitome of big government,” Campbell said Tuesday to HuffPost. “This is getting out of hand.”
*********
Readers: This is getting out of hand to say the least.
You want to know what I think? I think Proud needs to be anal probed to see if her brains are in her ass, because the things that come out of this woman’s mouth is just unbelievable. And I have good reason to believe they’re down there because all I experience up there is air. And that goes for many republican women out there who support such insane ideas under the guise of “protecting” women. This isn’t about “protecting” women; this is about controlling women…this is saying that women don’t have a mind of their own to make the right decision for themselves, and their bodies.
We don’t need women like this, not supporting women, but tossing us back in time with no rights. Just when will women stop joining men in controlling women’s bodies? It isn’t in our best interest – but they’re too dumb to realize that.
And I can almost hear some of you men out there snickering in pleasure. There’s a reason why “man” is part of the word “mandate”. Hey, I’ve got an idea (don’t go crazy mad on me now Al :) Don’t you think that before a woman decides to go out on a date with a man she should watch his performance in bed….with close-ups? This would certainly “protect” a woman from disappointment. Now that would be a movie worth watching with popcorn.
Thoughts? Blog me.
Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. Republican women have got to the dumbest on the planet.
Love your comment Michelle about watching a guy’s performance before the date.

…thought I posted here but I put it on yesterdays, can you say: preoccupied?!
Mischa, you are seriously hilarious in your commentary and I just mean that you can turn a phrase, my friend, that I threw in for those of you who would accuse me of finding an unfunny situation funny. This contraception/abortion issue is getting more and more ludicrous and beyond ‘controlling’ – it seems like there’s something larger at play here and I am busily trying to get to exactly what.
I do love your idea of watching a man moves before ‘buying the bull’ bc they can whine all they want about push-up bras and padded asses, etc…but you cannot judge a man’s size by anything but hands/feet/adam’s apples – all of which can give a faulty reading according to my sources : ) How about a half cup of popcorn for the men who go in for vasectomies bc it takes about 10 minutes to have it done, include the movie and the signing of the permission slip by the wife and you’ll be home resting in 20 minutes total, no hormonal side effects either unlike the disturbances tubal ligations can cause.
/SB, nice post about vagina tax and I agree with #47 as well, clearly Mischa can handle herself, if she feels the need for Doug to do anything about his name, then it’s her place to handle that as well, that falls under the ‘personal biz’ heading and that’s said with no offense to any friend of M’s, I’m sure you mean well. Just sayin’
Ruth, very good point about mid-life (or anytime) married male cheaters vs female cheaters, one just expects to be forgiven which is why they’re such shitty liars, the other runs the risk of not only not being forgiven but nasty discussion behind her back and probably from some of the man’s female sympathizers, which is why women will often be very good at lying, there’s a lot at stake.
Hmm, all of that screams of my suggestion to just have the marital or committed relationship discussion, if you must/want to step out, either/both parties be discreet about it, and protect the sexual health of everyone involved, I hate the word ‘cheat’ it’s ridiculous, just be straight with the person you claim to love if you want a little strange every now and again, sheesh…people put so much weight on fidelity as if it is the only measure of a relationship.
Men are less inclined to trust this ‘talk’ idea bc they want to believe (and it makes them nervous) that women are more likely to have an emotional/sexual affair vs their ‘it’s only body parts’ type of affair, I think this is utter nonsense, if a man is hanging out with ‘body parts’ then they are attached to a woman (yep, they are) then she will be having an emotional affair with you just like your wife would be with be with someone else then, no? See what I mean, faulty premise all the way around. Who do men think they are having these affairs with?? They do sell plastic va-J-J’s and other ‘body parts’ at any good sex store, try that : )

Social Butter Fly:
You aren’t that wise after all, if that’s your opinion about Doug, if you were the judge in the recent case concerning our recently elected sheriff, then you would have differed with the judge when he elected to disregard similar advice from the sheriff.
The sheriff made the assertion in his trial for spousal abuse to the effect that his actions toward his wife was between him and his wife. Since she was not objecting to his action, the court should back off.
You would have accepted that. So by your belief if the woman doesn’t mind the abuse we should just shut up.
Has it ever occurred to you that Michelle may have voiced her opinion and Doug, NLTMD, continued to do as men do which is as they damn well please.
Or maybe she just said it isn’t worth the hassle or bad feelings that would result if I told the asshole what he should already know. It is in bad, very bad taste to continue to assert he used to be the Main Dude(the one entailed to certain sexual privileges).
Unless you are dumber than you appear to be, then you know that the title Main Dude implies a certain sexual privilege. Of course, you could pretend, “Duh” and I’ll beg your forgiveness for my critique of you and simply take this opportunity to educate you.
Doug, is Michelle’s husband, the title “Main Dude” implies all the rights and privileges that come with being a husband. What difference do you see between him using Main Dude, and making DwkpaThe Husband?
Just saying…..

Ditto Vivian:
Actually that comment was something I would have expected from Zen Lill. Then before I could finish the thought. Here comes Zen Lill agreeing with that asinine statement by SB.
And You damn well know we mean well. Well enough to stick by a sister who is being used by a man who is obviously trading on his past association with her.
You’ve been to his facebook page have you seen any reference to his present or past association with Michelle? Right.
You know a cad when you see one. If you don’t feel it is your place to take sides, that is understandable and commendable.
But your putting Michelle on the spot by implying that if she hasn’t said something on her blog about Doug’s social ineptness means she condones it is TAKING SIDES.
Just sayin’

Michelle, I am convinced that most american white women are incapable of serious reasoning.
If a man hasn’t affirmed what they read, see, or hear, they won’t believe it.
Social Butterfly, Where did that come from? The Doug and Michelle stuff, I mean?
March 22nd, 2012 at 3:07 pm
I would assume that Mischa knows how to handle the ex-main dude, but you always have to just get right up in it, well, seriously, fuck off, I’ll let /SB speak for herself.
& those of you who EXPECTED that from ZL well, you fucking got it, and please – stop acting like your smelly shit does not stink. Righteous assholes come in both genders, I’m so fucking tired of hearing what you expect out of me. Unless everyone agrees with your shit they have no right to speak according to you. Get bent.
March 22nd, 2012 at 3:56 pm
My god you people need some fucking help. As far as Lil and Social Butterfly, thanks. As far as “Jackie”, fuck off. If you are such a “good friend” that you say you are, when was the last time you were at the home that I share with Michelle for the past twenty fucking years. NONE. Fuck off! And as far as the lemmings who seem to know what and why I post anything I post or not post of FB, fuck off! You go post your own shit about your family, your kids, your life as you see fit, because you don’t do shit about trying to take on “the man” in ANY capacity, except telling your friends that you are a rebel because you read Michelle’s blog. If you would do any of the work against “the man” or “the system” that she and I do, you would be conscious about what you post and why, due to the algorithms and facial recognition software along cross platforms. So, fuck off! and go back to eating your white bread. Go back to reading your People magazine, or watching TMZ so you can feel that you are “in the know” of people’s lives. Jesus, if you were the “friend” you say you all are, then you would know that if Michelle and I had discussed what all of you seem so fucked over with, regarding any moniker I may use, you would know that she would have raised a comment as to it.
I’ll use whatever the fuck moniker I choose, and if Michelle has an issue with it, I would venture to guess because I know her better than any one of you fucks, that she would tell me to change it…
March 22nd, 2012 at 4:36 pm
C’on, just because Michelle hasn’t waded in on Doug’s behavior doesn’t mean she is okay with it. And this is a blog in which EVERYTHING is fair game. So of course, the trials and tribulations of the Lady Michelle and her Main Dude (whoever the fuck he is) are going to be objects of concern.
But just like any celebrity and his or her Main Squeeze or Dude, the latters can change and often do. They don’t get to call themselves the Ex, we can but they don’t.
Frankly, it is disrespectful of both Zen Lill and Social Butter Fly to enter the fray in the guise of raising “The Main Dude” to the level of the Celebrity of this blog, who is Michelle and Michelle only.
Michelle is the celebrity because her title remains intact regardless of her relationship with “The Main Dude.” On the other hand the title of “Main Dude” is transient. It depends on the choice of our Celebrity.
Should she take another openly and notoriously to her bed, that person would be her Main Dude, and hence the Main Dude to her blog readers. The fact that she has stated that her relationship is over with Doug, doesn’t depend on what his wish or opinion is on the matter.
The Woman has spoken. It is over. Therefore there is no more “Main Dude.” Until or if Michelle allows someone else to claim that title it is VACANT. Any attempt to draw attention to yourself because you used to hold that title is tacky to say the least.
If Michelle was a man, both Social Butterfly and Zen Lill would have a different take. They would consider the woman pushy if she used the acronym DwkpaTMS.
The woman who was the Ex of a male celebrity using the title, Widely Known Previously As The Main Squeeze of ________________. Would seem tacky to both Zen Lill and Social Butterfly and indeed most of us with good taste.
However, the difference between most of us and those two is that we also view it “tacky” when a man does it.
If I chose the option that Zen Lill and Social Butterfly did, I would not then try to force Michelle to take a stand by implying she must support my stand because Michelle hasn’t weighed in against Doug’s obviously inappropriate continuous use of a title he no longer is entitled to.
Just Saying’

And the “man’s” reply. Typical.
Blame the woman for obvious tacky behavior on his behalf. Then attempt to force the woman to support him.
I’d wager big money that he has never discussed the matter with Michelle. He knows that she would not embarrass him by revealing his narcissistic behavior. I like you Doug. You seem to be a very intelligent man. And I like your politics.
But on this one I have to agree with the girls, not ZL,or SB. You have no right to embarrass Michelle by your continuous use of the title TMD, or any reference to it.
A guy with your brains can certainly come up with another reference. Doug,I or “The Doug” would be appropriate and certainly earned by your input to this blog.
How would you feel if you were the new “Main Dude” and you had to put up with some clueless ex continuing to use the title Dwkpatmd?
It’s over, Let her go.

Frankly, I didn’t say anything till /SB did bc I felt it was a personal matter and I left it to her, Mischa, she didn’t comment on it, why should we? Her marraige is her biz, her ending her marriage is her biz. Does Mischa seem like a woman who would not hold her ground, on or off blog? I think not…and I would not have weighed in if it were Doug’s blog and Mischa was calling herself Main woman, not my territory, and no I would not judge a woman any different than a man in this regard, you’re just looking for one more man/woman bitch to have, I never elevated him to celeb status – those are your words, your self righteous ass.
I agreed with SB bc I think it is between the two of them to decide when/if they need to discuss his moniker…and it’s weighed in not waded in you dumb ass, you are just one more righteous ass that spouts off shit here as if you’re the last word. Always justifying your own poor behavior/manners… Just sayin’
March 22nd, 2012 at 5:22 pm
With all this back and forth. I notice that Michelle has been her usual super cool self. She sits back and allows the blog to be the blog she created even when she is the topic of discussion.

Good for you Alycedale. I agree. We spanish women are just beginning to rise to the level of men when it comes to celebrity status in the romantic department. The catholic church has restricted our ability to make the Main Dudes.
We are considered whores, if we even as celebrities, choose to have more than one man where the male celebrities are EXPECTED to wade the field of eligible young things.
We as women have the right to make our companions throwaways too. And they have no right to force their way back into our fame.
Devera
March 22nd, 2012 at 5:44 pm
Doug, why are you angry? You have given up Michelle as a romantic interest. While it does not detract from your personal accomplishments as a team, it certainly redefines the team.
All many who oppose your use of the “TMD” title or any reference to it, are saying is recognize that. Sure some may be wannabe suitors but others are just being logical.
How does your disassociation from that kind of inference of a more intimate closeness than is true today, change your accomplishments together in the past?
Give Michelle some respect and take off the marriage ring(if you haven’t already) and the title. Can you honestly say that on your blog, Face Book page, etc, you make a personal reference to Michelle.
How pleased would you be if she made constant references on anyone of those to her being The Main Squeeze or the PWKMS of your life?
The word “tacky” might come up? Either in your thoughts or from the mouths of those that know or purport to know you better than they know her.
It’s relative. Try seeing it form her point of view. You wouldn’t want her to do it to you in your special space, so why do it in hers?

Alycedale, I couldn’t have said it better!
March 22nd, 2012 at 6:00 pm
Zen Lill, I beg your pardon. You “waded” into an area you needn’t have. That being the case your opinion or weighting in irrelevant.
I will leave it to the blog to determine who is the “dumb ass.” In your defense I will say that I do not consider you dumb just misguided on this issue.
We all make mistakes, I have and will continue to do so. I hope I will be treated with as respectfully as I do others when it happens again.
We both know that you are famous on this blog for “seeing both sides of the male/female issues.” It makes for interesting reading. I know I often wait for you to “weight” in on a topic before I comment.
That way I get both sides of an argument. I am quite certain many others do the same. It is just that I felt you waded into a province you shouldn’t have. It is merely an opinion, not worthy of so much vitriol.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR PSORIASIS PATIENTS
Psoriasis is miserable… there’s no question about it. But beyond dealing with those outbreaks of crusty, red patches on the body, nearly one in four psoriasis sufferers also has another potentially dangerous condition to worry about — and it’s one that isn’t being diagnosed promptly. It’s a form of arthritis that specifically affects psoriasis suffers that is called (logically) psoriatic arthritis (PSA).
Concerned about why either patients or doctors (or both) aren’t noticing this serious condition — which can lead to joint degeneration and even disability if left untreated — I called Bruce Bebo, Jr., PhD, director of research and medical programs at the National Psoriasis Foundation in Portland, Oregon, because he recently administered a national survey on the topic that uncovered the shocking stat above.
CONNECTING THE DOTS
Researchers contacted 477 men and women with an average age of 59. About 58% of them had been diagnosed with psoriasis only… 2% had been diagnosed with PSA only… and 40% had been diagnosed with both conditions. The researchers discovered…
Of the psoriasis-only respondents, 22% reported having significant symptoms of PSA (more on those later), even though they had not been diagnosed with PSA.
Of the respondents who knew that they had both psoriasis and PSA, 15% weren’t diagnosed with PSA until one to two years after their symptoms had started, and for 29%, it took two or more years to get a diagnosis.
Of the PSA-only group, none of them had been diagnosed with psoriasis, but researchers theorize that all of them will develop psoriasis at some point later in life, since it’s impossible to have PSA without psoriasis. (Sometimes joint problems appear first.)
What are the telltale signs of PSA? The symptoms aren’t much different from those of rheumatoid arthritis and include pain and stiffness in one or more joints throughout the body… joints that are red or warm… pain in the feet, ankles and lower back… depressions in the nail surface or nails that separate from the nail bed… and, most especially, sausagelike swelling in one or more fingers or toes.
Symptoms can be so debilitating that they affect a patient’s ability to work and do active things, like get in and out of a car. So why aren’t these symptoms being promptly diagnosed?
One main problem, Dr. Bebo said, is that even though the symptoms seem impossible to miss, patients may not realize that they have a form of arthritis. They may just chalk up the symptoms to “getting older,” so they don’t tell their primary care physicians or their dermatologists about them.
“Patients need to speak up, so one of their doctors can refer them to a rheumatologist, the type of doctor that can diagnose and treat PSA,” said Dr. Bebo.
On the other side of the equation, all dermatologists (and even primary care physicians) need to be more informed about complications of psoriasis, like PSA, and should be regularly asking psoriasis patients questions about joint pain, said Dr. Bebo.
WHAT PEOPLE WITH PSORIASIS NEED TO KNOW
PSA is a form of inflammatory arthritis, so, like psoriasis, it’s considered an autoimmune disorder. It’s not like osteoarthritis, the most common form of arthritis, which is caused by wear-and-tear on the body –
PSA occurs when your immune system, for unknown reasons, attacks your body.
PSA also runs in families.
The symptoms of and treatments for PSA are similar to those for rheumatoid arthritis, said Dr. Bebo, but they’re not identical, so it’s critical for a rheumatologist to tell you exactly which kind you have.
Researchers aren’t sure why some people with psoriasis develop PSA and others don’t. “More research should and will be done on the topic,” said Dr. Bebo.
But here’s what we do know: PSA usually strikes between ages 30 and 50, usually about 10 years after psoriasis is diagnosed, Dr. Bebo told me. Both conditions are episodic, meaning that they flare up and recede over the course of a lifetime.
Flare-ups are commonly responses to such triggers as infection (bacterial or viral) or trauma, but, interestingly, they don’t tend to flare up at the same times — in other words, the severity of your psoriasis at any given time is not usually related to the severity of your PSA, said Dr. Bebo.
Sorry if this has been a downer thus far, but I can offer hope for a happy ending for people who have or are worried that they might develop this unpleasant condition.
“There is no cure, but there are treatments that can help control symptoms, such as over-the-counter and prescription medications, and there are even more treatments in the pipeline,” Dr. Bebo told me.
Natural treatments can help, too, said Dr. Bebo, such as maintaining a healthy weight (since that puts less stress on joints), exercising regularly (to keep joints flexible), using cold or hot packs for 15 minutes at a time to numb pain in affected joints and changing the way you perform everyday tasks (such as carrying heavy pots with both hands instead of one and pushing doors open with your full body instead of just one arm).
Some PSA patients may find relief by taking a variety of natural supplements and/or by making dietary changes — ask your doctor if making a change like this would be right for you.
The bottom line: Have psoriasis? Look out for PSA symptoms. If you think you may have PSA, speak up and tell your primary care doctor or your dermatologist — since he/she may not bring it up — and then he/she can refer you to a rheumatologist, who can give you the appropriate diagnostic tests.

Republicans are on the march, and if we don’t fight back, they will continue to try to run roughshod over women, the middle class, and seniors.
Whether it’s waging war on women’s civil liberties, engaging in an aggressive, dangerous quest to repeal health care reform, or stripping away the safety net, radical Republicans will do it.
Can you imagine if they had total control of Congress? It would be a nightmare.
The GOP needs to win just four of the 23 seats we’re defending to take control of the Senate. Four seats constitute our last line of defense against a Congress completely controlled by Tea Party Republicans. And polling shows more than four are within the margin of error.
If the DSCC doesn’t meet their end-of-quarter goal and raise $1 million by the crucial March 31 FEC deadline, we may not have the resources we need to beat back the Republicans.
The Republicans are calling on their big guns, like the Koch Brothers and Karl Rove’s special interest groups, but we’ve got the grassroots. We get 95% of our donations from grassroots supporters.
If we don’t stand up in the Senate, it won’t matter who wins the White House. You’ve seen how destructive Republicans in the House have been; a Republican-controlled Senate would do damage to our country that would require decades to undo.
They want to do away with contraception coverage and basic women’s health services. They want to repeal health care reform, taking us back to when millions more were uninsured and providers could drop you when your need was greatest. They want to cut funding for vital programs like Head Start and the Clean Air Act.
And the safety net? It gets in the way of tax breaks for their wealthy donors.
Republicans know they lose on these issues among everyday people. It’s why they’re going state-to-state and passing restrictive voter ID laws; it’s why they’re pumping loads of special interest money into these races.
Frank Lautenberg
