Does Romney Support The Paycheck Fairness Act?

Stay tuned for today’s topic: Rachel Maddow does her best to find out.

Good morning!

First of all, I was really HOPEing that Walker would pack his bags and walk, but evidently he’s in to stay. From Maddow’s blog: Tom Barrett lost last night, but he wasn’t the only one.”

And, since I’m on the topic of Maddow, and I dig her commentary in a big way, why not continue.

Linda: To answer your question: In one word, “No”, and Today’s topic is for you. Oh…Please enlighten me on what NLD stands for. Thanks. Happy to hear you’re a cancer surviver. My best to you.

Rachel Maddow Finally Receives A Response From Mitt Romney’s Campaign (VIDEO)

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Rachel Maddow shared some big news on her MSNBC show Monday night.

Following months of requesting comment from GOP candidate Mitt Romney’s campaign on various issues, Maddow announced that her show had finally received a response.

“They have always just pretended we did not exist,” Maddow said of the Romney campaign. “But today, today we got something!”

Maddow’s show reached out to Romney’s campaign to learn if the governor supported the latest equal pay for women bill, the Paycheck Fairness Act. The Senate will vote on the bill on Tuesday. President Obama personally got on a White House press conference call to further urge Congress to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act. Maddow said Romney has been avoiding commenting on the bill.

So, Maddow’s producers reached out to the Romney campaign for comment. “We asked them in writing, ‘What is Gov. Romney’s position on the Paycheck Fairness Act being voted on in the Senate on Tuesday?’” Maddow said.

Maddow enthusiastically reported that her show received a “really fast reponse” from a Romney spokesperson.

“Of course Gov. Romney supports pay equity for women. In order to have pay equity, women need to have jobs, and they have been getting crushed in this anemic Obama economy, losing far more jobs than men. As president, Mitt Romney will create a pro-jobs business climate that will put all Americans back to work,” a Romney spokesperson wrote.

Maddow pointed out that while she received a response, she did not receive an actual answer to her question. So her producers emailed again, asking one more time if Romney supports the Paycheck Fairness Act. They received a curt response from the Romney campaign stating, “Gov. Romney supports pay equity for women.”

Maddow’s show attempted for a third time, with Maddow writing the third email herself. Maddow wrote Romney’s spokesperson an email that included a multiple choice section stating various positions Romney may have towards the Paycheck Fairness Act.

“We have not received an answer to that last email,” Maddow said through her laughs.

******

So…what’s on your mind today? Blog me.

Norman: Your last sentence is what it all really comes down to.

Zen Lill: I was hoping someone would answer your question, as I didn’t have much time the other day to go back and find it. Thanks Peter. Hafa adai.

Lea: I am sure that the TAO is doing everything they can to resolve this before any anomalies occur.  I am sure, the last thing they want is for a typhoon to strike Guam, especially since The Princess is thought to be there. I don’t presume to speak for The Emperor nor suggest that I know how he He thinks, but my guess is, He may not see a typhoon as simply just a typhoon, but an act of violence, which would not be good for anyone. Hafa Adai.

Romney really doesn’t have to. The white boys are going to vote for him anyway. And sad to say most of my white sisters will follow in lock step with their white boys.

The current wins by the republicans is Proof that the Golden Rule is alive and well in the USA. He who has the Gold, rules.

  3. CP Says:

The conventional wisdom is that money can’t buy everything. In politics, that certainly is not the case. Walker spent 88% of the money expended for the recall election. In turn, he garnered 53% of the vote.

I thought the majority of Wisconsinites had their heads screwed on right. Too bad that is not the case. Now Wisconsin joins the ranks of the states, like mine, with lock-step, zombie-brained TP types in charge. How sad for this country.

  4. JJ Says:

the unions are busted –now america can compete with china for the fastest to reach 2 dollars per day wages

  5. JN Says:

Sad. I understand though. My state has been bought too. WI and AZ with FL close behind. Quite an embarrassment.

  6. AH Says:

I saw this event. They wasn’t even done counting this close count ,but the guy that wanted the recount was told to give in..

The people no longer get to pick any position. Who would ever want to vote for people that pass laws against the people? Like the NDAA ,trespass bill, NDRP,ACTA, CISPA,SOPA

  7. KK Says:

The only ones who benefit from the crushing of unions are the 1% plain and simple. All the 99% get is a speeding up of the race to the bottom.

Anyone from the 99% who think otherwise are deluding themselves and the fact that many here snicker and cheer as the working man/woman, which includes themselves, gets a smaller and smaller slice of the economic pie shows a complete lack of any knowledge of the history of the labor movement.

The 1% are laughing all the way to the bank at such naivete but don’t let that stop you.

  8. Bob Says:

This is for all you assholes who keep calling me to gloat on your Wis win. That’s fine you did predict the win. But to assert that they won because the people are tired of the debts of the Dems party.

Get a clue how the debt came about. 11.7 trillion from 08 plus legacy costs of Bush tax cuts and two wars. Facts are so pesky.

  9. Health Info Says:

Be Kinder and More Compassionate—to Yourself

Many of us are brought up to have compassion for other people—for those less fortunate than ourselves and those who are suffering.

But what about feeling compassion for ourselves when we are having a hard time? That’s often much harder. New research shows that we all could benefit from some of the good feeling and support that we give others.

Call it compassion toward ourselves or self-compassion—it’s a new area of psychological research that is currently being explored.

Many of us respond to our own bad feelings with more bad feelings—and with self-criticism. There we are, feeling stress, confusion, inadequacy or despair.

We feel like a wreck—and then along comes that voice in our head that doesn’t help, that makes it worse by saying things such as—I’m such a jerk…I don’t deserve to feel better…What’s wrong with me? Self-compassion turns this on its head.

Instead of piling bad feelings on bad feelings, give yourself a break…accept that you are imperfect…acknowledge that most people feel inadequate at one time or another…and invite yourself to be kind to yourself.

    TURN KINDNESS ON YOURSELF
Research shows that self-compassion is good for our health.

It results in less anxiety and depression—and more optimism and happiness.

A 2007 Wake Forest University study found that it helped dieters avoid overeating. And a 2011 study by researchers based at the University of Arizona found that self-compassion helped to promote well-being and discourage long-lasting emotional distress following marital separation.

But how to do it? Christopher Germer, PhD, a clinical psychologist and clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School and author of The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion (Guilford Press), recommends using mindfulness as a tool to achieve self-compassion. Here’s how…

    QUIET THE NASTY TALK
In order to overcome “self-cruelty,” you must first silence the nasty thoughts.

Mindfulness is the process by which you slow down and quiet your thoughts, becoming aware of your breathing and of the sights, sounds and smells around you.

In this state, you become aware of what is happening in the moment. You are aware of your thoughts and you accept them, without judgment, as they come in and out of your mind. Being mindful gives you a chance to change the conversation.

Here is where self-compassion comes in—and where you change the way you talk to yourself. Imagine that you are talking to a child or a friend who has failed to accomplish a task.

Chances are, you wouldn’t scold or punish that person. Instead, you would encourage him or her to do better next time. That’s exactly what you do when you show yourself some compassion—you shine some encouragement and helpfulness back on yourself.

So the next time you are feeling down on yourself, try a little mindful self-compassion. You’ll feel better for it.

The recall heard round the world
    by Ann Coulter

    Share Your Comments
I watched the Wisconsin returns on MSNBC Tuesday night, and it came right down to the wire between “the Democrats were outspent 7-to-1″ and “Republicans are stripping union rights!” As we go to press it’s still too close to call.President Obama wanted to go to Wisconsin, but he just didn’t have time. He’s been doing so many campaign fundraisers lately he barely has time to play golf.

    Sponsored Content
The left’s “outspent” argument is ridiculous. Unions take money by force from members, hire hundreds of political operatives and give them salaries to work on campaigns, then call them “volunteers” so their work isn’t reported as a campaign contribution.

We don’t know the facts yet, but let’s assume the conclusion MSNBC is leaping to is accurate: George Zimmerman stalked a small black child and murdered him in cold blood, just because he was black.

Luckily for them, government employees’ non-punishing work schedules leave them plenty of time to be in a constant state of grievance, demanding recalls after any election they lose, and mobilizing voters.

This election had nothing to do with people being paid a fair wage for the work they do. The question is: Do you want a society where the people whose salaries you pay make more than those who pay them?

The Democrats will do anything the government unions ask, because (1) It’s not their money they’re spending, it’s the taxpayers’; and (2) Government unions reciprocate by making sure the Democrats keep getting re-elected.

  11. Rr Says:

I live with someone who likes to watch the news, so I see Scott Pelley every night. Pelley is a right wing tool, and his so-called news show is as shallow and worthless and Republican-oriented as every other so-called news show on TV.

  12. NC Says:

    In My Personal Opinion……………..

    In this critical election year………..

The first broadcast News organization that comes up with a segment along the lines of “Today’s lies by candidates” will not only find a large enthused audience, but will be doing the Nation a public service as well.

Every time a politician lies, expose it, and explain WHY it’s a lie.

No shortage of material to work with.

I for one would tune in religiously.

“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.” -Abraham Lincoln

It’s just too bad they are so hard to come by in American Journalism today.

  13. VV Says:

Only a few Fox Shows get near 3 million viewers ( that figure includes repeat showings) while the majority are well under the 2 million mark.

Spongebob has higher viewer ratings than Fox News although Spongebob’s viewers are much smarter and more intelligent than the dittoheads who follow Hannity and his ilk.

  14. TB Says:

I hope the broadcast last night was an aberration and not the signs of a swing to the political right! How do you do a story on Scott Walker and not once mention the Koch brothers and their massive contributions to that guys victory? That was not an accident. Accidents don’t get on the air at the CBS Evening News.

  15. Anonymous Says:

Urte. Seriously? A basic human can navigate what you are obviously incapable of.

  16. TAO Says:

That may very well be true, but I still couldn’t read Luc’s statement without saving it and reflashing it onto our screen.

I can post my answer to Luc here but I am not sure he would find it unless he frequents here.

I’d prefer to answer him were he is sure to read it. It is interesting to have heard a similar story with a twist that answers and asks as many questions at the same time.

Luc’s version is interesting for its simplicity. Coupled with your version makes for pondering if we are talking about the same beings.

If I may, you sound like a few beings we have encountered when you suggested it would be my ignorance rather than the non user friendliness of your blog that prevented me from enjoying the experience of posting to your blog.

While policing the U/7 cloqua series of planets about 4100 earth years ago, I attempted to use the Jva’s Quyocs to hyper link to the Federation’s energy port.

The Jva’s idea of simplicity was to pictorialize the Fier board(The control panel for activating HyperLink). The result was no one who used it (except me) returned to tell them they could not activate it properly.

Many who did not return who may be still alive are probably still orbiting some fixed star with no way to escape its gravitational pull.

I only survived because I took the chance of not surviving blasting the star my orbit was frozen to until it became small enough to lose the ability to resist my vessels escape velocity.

When I returned to complain, their response was to say any competent Diaude(Rank in a hierarchy of policing for the Federation) would have no problem navigating a simple set of pictorials.

I recognized the futility of expecting them to adjust their way stations to prevent possible disasters for anyone using their facilities. So I locked up with Viv and we destroyed them and their facilities on all the 7,283 Orbitals they maintained for the Federation and Augostre Cortiums.

    Urte

  17. Scrana Says:

Urte, I could not find Luc’s post. My tenure here on earth never afforded me the opportunity to meet either one(that is if we are talking about the same twins). I have partnered with Scrana for close to 153 earth years.

There are other possibilities to that story. The K/lin dimension closely resembles this one, but its twin story involves earthlings that assume different identities along with beings unknowingly posing as earthlings until one of the twins informs them who they really are . I have had the opportunity to go there on several occasions.

It is rumored that some earthing female has the ability to time and plane shift. We spent about 70 years searching for her but found nothing. A capture of that sort would be immense.

Would like to share Legends. The GWo are still behaving as if their Legend is the true one. Hence when in that region do not allow your earthlings to pair in twos or any none odd number.

I am aware of the skill and daring it took to take the risk you took with a Class i73pN star. Some of the data you submitted is still good science.

I know it is forbidden to counsel with a TAO. But we can spark here. TaNJo used the Luc screen to channel additional data. Trust me when I say the humans would benefit way too much from that string. The danger of future manipulation is small compared to the behavior of these primitive beings with that technology.

Tell your story here and I will move in that direction as soon as I throw off voyeurs.

  18. 116k/7 Says:

We may have our first alien casualty as a result of Tsarmi’s anomaly. The TAO sent their Obu to monitor the edges of the time chasm. We think he got trapped in the Bliv.

We do not have the technology to rescue him. If he did not alert the nearest TAO before shift. Well space travel has it hazards.

Notice is being made. There will be a huge earth event in the next 72 hours if nothing is done about the surge. It would be nice to have a chart of Tsarmi’s earth Influence.
