Make Walker Take A Walk

Good morning!

I don’t care how much money the republicans have spent to keep their cronies in office…and they have spent 7 times what the Democrats have spent in this Scott Walker/ Tom Barrett race…Walker needs to take a walk. And so do you: Straight to the polls. The Wisconsin recall election is today and every vote counts. Don’t trust the polls that Walker has a lead over Barrett. Mike, TM already warned us of the republican’s election plans. If you want my opinion, they may try to use this election as a rehearsal for what’s planned for the presidential election.

Wisconsin voters, beware of dirty tricks

The dirty tricks are in full effect in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin voters are reporting receiving robocalls that claim voters who signed recall petitions or voted to recall Governor Scott Walker are not required to vote again tomorrow, June 5th.  This is incorrect information.

Regardless of whether you signed petitions or voted previously, you still need to vote tomorrow in the June 5th recall election.

Dirty Tricks in Full Effect in Wisconsin

The dirty tricks are in full effect in Wisconsin.  Wisconsin voters are reporting receiving robocalls that claim voters who signed recall petitions or voted to recall Governor Scott Walker are not required to vote again tomorrow, June 5th.  This is incorrect information.  Regardless of whether you signed petitions or voted previously, you still need to vote tomorrow in the June 5th recall election.

In addition, there are groups pretending to be protectors of voting rights who are already spreading misinformation on voting, and they may be out tomorrow attempting to intimidate voters waiting in line to vote.  Sometimes they will be wearing official-looking clothing or jackets that have things like ‘Election Protection’ printed on the back.  As mentioned on the Ed Schultz radio show today, you do not need to justify your presence at the polling place to anyone.  You are not required to show anyone proof that you are registered.  You are not required to talk to anyone other than the friendly people sitting at the polling place desk or table.

Outside the polling place, you are allowed to videotape or photograph anything you like.  If anyone harrasses you, you can take their picture, report them to election officials, or even call the police.  Inside your polling place, report any troublemakers to election officials.

After voting has closed, your polling place becomes an open meeting.  You are allowed to peacefully observe, and more.

Do not be intimidated, do not turn away from your right to vote for any reason.  Go out and vote tomorrow!

Also in the similar vein, this is what was said on the Ed Show last night:

Readers: Notice how many times the audience shouts “Liar!”. Just another LSOS spewing fear and lies.  I think Sen. Glenn Grothman deserves membership to the LSOS Club – don’t you? Blog me. And go out and vote today.

M votes for the local elections, just in case you’re wondering:

Yes on 28.

Yes on 29

No on A

Yes on B

Sen. Dianne Feinstein

State Sen: Mark Leno

State Assembly: Phil Ting

Ian: I would never drop Adam, AH and Bita. At the moment they are doing their thing.

Cliff: Now…what prevented you from at least saying hello?

Howie: Nice to see you here again. Thanks for the sharing the news of Tsarmi.

Peace out.

The Right is doing all these crooked things to manipulate the vote and saying that if you mention that they are doing those crooked things to manipulate the vote you are just complaining by playing the “voter fraud” card because you know that you are going to lose.

They figure they scared off the blacks from complaining about their practicing racism against them by accusing them of using the “race” card whenever they complained.

That worked so well because we whites knew they were using reverse psychology to get away with their racial prejudices and said nothing.

Now they are using the same reverse psychology on us by accusing anyone of complaining about their voter fraud practices of playing the “voter fraud” card.

Help your neighbor folks when they need it or when it is your turn there will be no one to help you.

    Zen Lill,

“Thing,” like “my dog,” is a cultural way of saying you are special, unique, one of a kind. Like baby you know you’re my sweet thing. Meaning whenever I think of anything pleasurable in my life you would be that thought.

Black women and men want to be their other half’s “sweet thing.” Just as your “home boys” are now “your dogs.”

Sweet thing is more than 50 years old in the black culture, sorry you haven’t heard about it before.

Of course that doesn’t mean Cliff is black. We blacks often add to our american english language colorful terms that become part of it for all americans.

Oh, and Michelle is a very fine thing.

    Chronic Heartburn’s Unexpected Target: Teeth

The tingling pain in the throat from chronic heartburn may make you concerned about your increased risk for esophageal cancer, but a new study points to yet another health problem worth worrying about—tooth erosion.

Unfortunately, chronic heartburn (a.k.a. gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD) can cause dental damage due to the acid that’s constantly washing around in your mouth—even if you’re taking antacids.

And there’s one particular type of dental damage that it’s very important to keep an eye on, as it turns out…

    ALARMING OBSERVATIONS
Researchers analyzed participants with GERD and healthy people, looking at how much tooth enamel (the outer layer) was lost over six months, and determined whether the erosion was due to normal wear-and-tear or the effects of regurgitated stomach acid.

To learn about the results, I called study author Daranee Versluis-Tantbirojn, DDS, MS, PhD, an associate professor of restorative dentistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.

    Findings:
On average, compared to the control group, GERD patients had more tooth damage—and some had much more. In fact, two GERD patients had five times the damage, two had seven times the damage and one even had nine times as much.

These patients had tooth surfaces with deeper “craters” and/or had thinner teeth.

The researchers were surprised to see just how much tooth erosion was measured in some patients, considering that most were taking medications to combat GERD.

This means that the level of tooth damage may be even worse in patients who forgo medicating the problem, she said.

    TONS OF TOOTH TIPS

Just the thought of pitted, thinning teeth is enough to turn my stomach. Aside from the fact that it’s aesthetically displeasing, tooth erosion can also lead to poor chewing ability and sensitivity to cold food and drinks (ouch!).

Plus, Dr. Versluis-Tantbirojn said, people with severe damage often need expensive dental crowns or caps to restore the form and function of their choppers.

If you or someone you know has GERD, Dr. Versluis-Tantbirojn offered these tips for preventing dental damage…

Don’t brush at the wrong time: After a reflux episode, don’t brush your teeth right away—wait at least one hour—because brushing acid-softened teeth will sweep away the softened surface, resulting in more erosion.

But keep brushing as you normally would twice a day.
Use a fluoride mouthwash: Rinsing with a fluoride mouthwash immediately after a reflux episode can enhance saliva’s ability to restore damaged tooth surfaces.

Be careful not to swallow it, as over time it may be toxic to your system. (Fluoride mouthwashes are available in any drugstore, but don’t use brands containing alcohol, which can make the mouth feel like it’s burning and dry it out.)

Use “dental cream”: Ask your dentist about obtaining a prescription dental cream containing fluoride, calcium and phosphate ions, which enhances repair of softened enamel more than saliva or fluoride mouthwash alone.

(It costs about $15 to $20 for a 1.8-ounce tube, which will last about one month.) Dental cream can be used anytime after an acid reflux episode, and applying it with your finger is more effective than with a toothbrush.

Source: Daranee Versluis-Tantbirojn, DDS, MS, PhD, associate professor, restorative dentistry, The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis.

The study was published in The Journal of the American Dental Association.

I hope this answers your question about the “Zombie” in Miami.

He was an Alien, not a Zombie. He was a Yuplertian. They, like many aliens here, feed on humans.

He lost the ability to hold back his appetite. He was extremely hungry because he was experiencing his 23rd day without food. Most of his energy went to maintaining his form.

He had to eat , , , so he did . . . And it made the news. He was caught completely naked on the side of a causeway, by Miami Police while eating a human man’s face and head with extreme gusto.

A Police Officer screamed “Stop” and shot him once but this did not stop him so five more bullets did the trick and killed him.

The federal government has already confiscated the real body. His body began to dissolve about 12 hours into their departure.

  9. Human Events Says:

WISCONSIN RECALL: John Gizzi reports from the Badger State today on the recall election against Republican Gov. Scott Walker. Opinions and passions are running high as poll after poll shows Walker edging out Democratic challenger and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett by a relatively slim margin. First up today, however, Gizzi takes a look at the low level of undecided voters in the recall. It seems that “all but a few of Badger State voters have definite opinions on Walker and Barrett,” and they intend on voting on those convictions, as a recent poll shows that “92 percent of Republicans said they were ‘absolutely certain to vote.’”

Democrats, though, are already spinning this recall as “a Wisconsin-specific moment, not a national referendum,” in the event that Gov. Walker survives. Gizzi has brought together some of what national Democrats have said in what appears to be an effort to make this election more about Wisconsin politics than about sound economic and fiscal policy.

Regardless of whether Walker or Barrett wins tonight, one thing is sure, and it’s that Republicans must do more to advance their message via social media. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc… all of these platforms present not solely challenges, but great opportunities to the GOP in its venture to defeat President Obama. John Hayward writes today about the raw power of the Internet and the strategy conservatives — particularly the Republican National Committee — need to implement to win on the web. Also, with Obama’s re-election campaign spending roughly $3 million on interactive social media every month, the Romney campaign needs to think more critically about its approach — social media guru and communications expert Al DiGuido tackles that topic in a piece exclusive to Human Events.

Stay tuned to Human Events throughout the day and night for the latest on the Wisconsin special election, and also for up-to-the-minute news from the Romney campaign trail.

  10. Bob Says:

There’s a story circulating that Al Qaida is sending money to the Romney super pacs. Obama, as commander-in-chief, has really kicked butt in regard to Al Qaida.

Bush was soft on Al Qaida; he was more interested in getting Saddam Hussein. They’re thinking Romney might be as wishy washy as Bush was.

  11. Irene Says:

In our great state of Mississippi, rep Gov. Phil Bryant last week advocated for nondenominational school prayer in front of an audience of teenagers, the Clarion Ledger reports.

“I don’t think it hurt us at all,” the Republican Methodist governor told about 300 high school students at the American Legion Boys State last Tuesday. “I think it built our character, and I think it is what we should continue to do.”

Bryant, who attended both public and private high school, told reporters after the Boys State speech that school prayer would “let people know there is a God,” adding, “those children should know that he does care about them, particularly within their classroom.”

The gov. and the rest of that hypocritical party could show the children that someone cares by providing money for more teachers and improved facilities and equipment. But they bullshit artists rather hand out god sticks.

    Irene

  12. LLoyd Says:

Bob, this could be one of the reasons Al-qaida would rather have romney in rather than Obama.

By Jibran Ahmad and Saud Mehsud

PESHAWAR/DERA ISMAIL KHAN, June 5 (Reuters) – Abu Yahya al-Libi, one of al Qaeda’s top strategists and seen as the most prominent figure in the network after leader Ayman al Zawahri, may have been killed in a drone strike in Pakistan, Pakistani intelligence officials said on Tuesday.

If his death is confirmed it would be the biggest blow to al Qaeda since U.S. special forces killed Osama bin Laden in a secret raid in Pakistan in May 2011.

U.S. sources said Libi, a Libyan cleric with a degree in chemistry who has survived previous attacks by drone aircraft, was a target of a strike early on Monday in northwest Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region, home to some of the world’s most notorious militant groups.

Sajjan Gohel, chief executive of the Asia-Pacific Foundation security research consultancy, said Libi was one of the few remaining key figures within al Qaeda’s core.

“Libi has also been at the centre of al Qaeda’s plans to reconstitute itself and try and remount a trans-national terror campaign. This is one of the reasons he was viewed as a high value target,” he told told Reuters by email.

Some U.S. officials describe Libi, whose real name is Mohamed Hassan Qaid, as number two to Zawahri, the former Egyptian doctor who took over al Qaeda after bin Laden’s death.

Pakistani intelligence officials told Reuters they believe Libi, which means Libyan in Arabic, may have been among seven foreign militants killed in Monday’s strike by a drone aircraft.

One of the officials said Pakistani authorities had intercepted telephone chatter about Libi, an al Qaeda theologian and expert on new media whose escape from a U.S.-run prison in Afghanistan in 2005 made him famous in al Qaeda circles.

“We intercepted some conversations between militants. They were talking about the death of a ‘sheikh’,” one of the Pakistani intelligence officials said, referring to the title given to senior religious leaders.

“They did not name this person but we have checked with our sources in the area and believe they are referring to Libi.”

The intelligence official said according to informants, Libi was seriously wounded in the strike and was taken to a private hospital where he died.
    ==========================

Heck, if I were an Al-qaida leader I would feel much safer if the US had a republican President because they only go after oil interest.

bin Laden would still be in Pakistan if McCain had won but we would have less privacy rights because the republican concentrate their drone attacks on American civil rights rather than the enemy.

    LLoyd

  13. RV Says:

There are some from the right who complain about the Drone attacks. May I remind them that President G.W. Bush started a war with Iraq to get just one man – Saddam Hussein. This war cost thousands of lives and provided us with a giant deficit.

Let us not allow Republicans to criticize the Drones and Pres. Obama.

  14. RD Says:

I have never understood why we can’t just have a moment of silence before we start our school day. Kids can do whatever they want in that time: pray, meditate, think about their day, think about their phones…

It’s America, we don’t have to have religion. Period.

GE 34:13-29 The Israelites kill Hamor, his son, and all the men of their village, taking as plunder their wealth, cattle, wives and children.

GE 6:11-17, 7:11-24 God is unhappy with the wickedness of man and decides to do something about it. He kills every living thing on the face of the earth other than Noah’s family and thereby makes himself the greatest mass murderer in history.

EX 9:22-25 A plague of hail from the Lord strikes down everything in the fields of Egypt both man and beast except in Goshen where the Israelites reside.
EX 12:29 The Lord kills all the first-born in the land of

    Egypt.
EX 17:13 With the Lord’s approval, Joshua mows down Amalek and his people.

EX 21:20-21 With the Lord’s approval, a slave may be beaten to death with no punishment for the perpetrator as long as the slave doesn’t die too quickly.

These are merely a FEW of the things your “caring” god has done, according to his favorite people and authors of your bible!

Keep your racist, intolerant and hateful god in your church where it belongs, NOT in an institution of learning!!

The way I see it is if this is an example of a caring god, I’d hate to see a non caring one. Actually I like Howie’s God, Carr better.

At least he doesn’t pretend to care about the human race of that we are made in His image.

    Paul

  16. MK Says:

When will conservatives learn, praying is personal, exactly like sexy time in your own bedroom except with latex.

  17. MM-1 Says:

Bryant, who attended both public and private high school, told reporters after the Boys State speech that school prayer would “let people know there is a God,” adding, “those children should know that he does care about them, particularly within their classroom.”

Yeah, right. There is a god who cares about them, particularly within their classroom… but who couldn’t be bothered about those children who are starving, who live in the middle of war zones, who live with the constant threat of disease…

Schools are for education, not superstition. If a child’s parents want to raise their child with religion, or without it, that is their choice, not the states.

  18. OF-1 Says:

I doubt the writers of the Constitution meant to ban prayer from government and public institutions.

Because after a five week dead lock at the constitutional convention they chose to open each meeting with a prayer as a way to gain Devine guidance in resolving their differences.

  19. RK Says:

Only a person that thinks creationism is science would think there is such a thing as nondenominational prayer.

I have an idea, in school we can teach students math, science, history, reading etc. and we can leave the teaching of prayer for church.

  20. SP Says:

I don’t have a problem with Arizona’s elective courses on how religion shapes certain cultures. I think high school geography courses should (and probably do) describe dominant religions in certain parts of the world similar to defining their chief imports/exports.

But any prayer in public school is way out of bounds in my opinion. There are plenty of places where children can go to voluntarily pray; youth centers, churches, you name it. But it’s not necessary in a public school.

  21. Doug Says:

OF-1, the writers of the Constitution were hypocritical, racist, misogynistic white boys whose only true intention was to carve little fiefdoms for themselves. You must be new or you would know this by now.

Look up Robert,RT and Alycedale on the Constitution authors. You will learn something you didn’t get in school while they were shoving god down your throat.

So who really gives a fuck what they had in mine.

    Doug

  22. Ruth Says:

RK, if a person actually thinks creationism is a science he/she has not really learned anything during their grade schools years.

If on the other hand they are claiming they believe it is a science so they can force their religious beliefs onto others, then we need to address that hypocrisy.

    Ruth

  23. MM Says:

Yes let the kids believe that god cares about them after all the state of Mississippi has shown that republicans don’t care about anyone.

  24. Helen Says:

    MM, you got that right.

WASHINGTON — Senate Republicans have blocked a bill that calls for equal pay in the workplace.

As expected, the vote Tuesday fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance the legislation. President Obama and his Democratic allies argue that the legislation is needed to protect people who try to find out how their pay stacks up against their coworkers. Republicans said it puts too much burden on employers.

The vote was the latest effort by Democrats to protect their lead among critical women voters this presidential and congressional election year. Republicans are focusing on the No. 1 concern for all voters: jobs and the economy.

Obama strongly supports the bill. Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has not taken a stand but his campaign says he favors pay equity in the workplace.
    ========
God(one of earth’s theorized ones, not Howie’s Carr) would have to exist in order to care about people and that’s an open question.

The fact that GOP is no good for anyone is simply a matter of historical record however. Or everyday voting in the federal or state houses or senates all over the nation.

Well, the caffeine might help in the short term. But recent research conducted at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City shows that coffee itself also may provide a long-term memory benefit—even when it’s decaf!

In fact, the study showed that drinking a certain amount of decaf over the long term might reduce the odds of developing the neurological impairment that’s associated with the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

This is certainly promising news for those of us who are overly sensitive to caffeine but love the taste of coffee. And it’s even more promising for people with type 2 diabetes, because they’re often told by doctors to avoid caffeine to keep their blood cholesterol and blood pressure in control, and they’re also at higher risk for Alzheimer’s disease.

    COFFEE’S SECRET WEAPON

To learn more, I contacted Giulio M. Pasinetti, MD, PhD, professor of neurology and psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical School and the lead researcher in the study.

Before the study, Dr. Pasinetti and his team had become interested in how chlorogenic acids—types of antioxidants found in coffee, as well as in grapes, cocoa and other foods—affect the brain.

They were interested in seeing whether the positive health effects of chlorogenic acids could come from coffee without caffeine.

And they wanted to analyze how decaf could affect people with type 2 diabetes, since, as I mentioned earlier, people with that condition are usually advised by doctors to avoid caffeine.

Researchers used mice in the study because they could completely control what they ate.

They gave the mice a high-fat diet that triggered the onset of type 2 diabetes. At the same time, they fed half of the mice a daily extract of decaffeinated coffee made from unroasted coffee beans.

    WHAT THE DECAF DID

What they found? The decaf-drinking mice’s brains used 25% more oxygen—meaning that these mice were less likely to experience neurological impairment. Researchers suspect that the chlorogenic acids in decaf are the reason for this result.

    WILL IT TRANSLATE TO HUMANS?

Of course, just because decaf helps mouse brains doesn’t necessarily mean that it helps human brains, but Dr. Pasinetti is hopeful because a great deal of previous medical research using mice has, in fact, been followed by similar results in humans. (That’s a big reason mice are so often used in research.)

How much might humans consume to get a similar benefit? Dr. Pasinetti recommends asking your doctor about taking a daily supplement that contains 400-mg extract of decaf green (a.k.a. “unroasted”) coffee. (Dr. Pasinetti used an extract called Svetol, which can be found at SwansonVitamins.com.

A month’s supply costs $10.) Or drink the equivalent (two cups of decaf per day), but Dr. Pasinetti said that roasting coffee beans sucks out some of the beneficial chlorogenic acids, so the benefit would not be as much as from the extract.

Another question is whether the results would be the same with regular (caffeinated) coffee. “Since we suspect that the benefits come from the chlorogenic acids in the coffee itself—and not the caffeine—caffeinated coffee is likely to prevent neurological impairment, too,” said Dr. Pasinetti.

“Other foods rich in chlorogenic acids, such as grapes and cocoa, are also likely to have similar benefits, but more research needs to examine that.”

    [...]

The bus is now full. The young man smiles. With the press of a button he destroys himself, the couple at his side, and twenty others on the bus. The nails, ball bearings and rat poison ensure further casualties on the street and in the surrounding cars. All has gone according to plan.

    [...]

These are the facts. This is all we know for certain about the young man.

Why is it so easy [...] to guess the young man’s religion?”

The present inhabitants of both Israel and Palestine are enduring the emotional results of a monstrous territorial and cultural dispute, fanned (as always, it seems) by the flames of religious zealotry on both sides; the global result is, quite naturally, violent acts of hatred directed against any visible target (anyone that can be identified as the presumed enemy).

There is plenty of blame to go around here, but who cares? Condemning those who act out the hatred preached from both sides is futile until those with influence, including Levy, demand a secular political solution which allows everyone, Jew, Muslim or whatever, to live side-by-side in a democratic society.

Hafa adai Peter, forgot to ackowledge you the other day, I am still stunned by the Spanish & slaves issue discussed last week, in the research rabbit hole again, less time now though…

Tracy, a small tid bit, (most) everything about how a relationship/FWB comes about is negotiated by the woman in it, any terms you throw out will be acted upon and taken at face value as acceptable by a man such (I cannot comment on same sex situations, I have no experience in that arena) if they don’t suit you, then walk away or speak up and renegotiate, and you will probably have to do this renegotiating with some regularity bc needs, your and/or his might/will change. (confidentiality prevents me from getting too specific) but more often than not women negotiate and agree (often not in words but through actions) terms that don’t suit them at all up front and then get angry when the terms are ‘violated’ – just as any parent would tell their children, sometimes ‘we must use our words’ to convey what is and is not a personal ‘deal breaker’.

I know one of mine is no big outtie belly buttons, sorry : ) LOLzzz…couldn’t help myself – I made that up (though I’d prefer a small belly button though obviously other more large aspects come into play and ohhhhh yezzzsssss, those puns were all intended), I know some of the above takes what I hear of as ‘courage’ and I say to that, not if you’re speaking from your intuitive place, there’s lots of meaning in words coming form that place and I have never had any man not engage in the conversation when it’s open and expansive, which is speaking of your own viewpoint without accusation or need for approval or anything else, if you state who and how you are from the intention of being known, no one will run, I assure you. This type of talking can be used for anything really, from getting to acceptable terms with a friends with benefits to your future love of your life, bc you must discern whether a man is psychologically stable esp if its a FWB situation, unhinged kooks are definitely deal breakers and can cause you problems your unprepared for…and you sure don’t want to marry one accidentally…

That’s my two for today, any questions/comments, Tracy…and I’m not picking on you, I mean it in the nicest of ways? Any of that helpful?

    Luv, Zen Lill

    Fighting for America’s Women
Moments ago, Republicans in the Senate blocked consideration of the Paycheck Fairness Act, just days after House Republicans voted unanimously against bringing the bill to the House floor for a vote. In doing so, the GOP stands against fundamental fairness for America’s working women and families struggling to get by.

Equal pay for equal work should be a pillar of our democracy. In this time of great economic challenge, the 77 cents that women make for every dollar men make adds up to a real impact on working families. When we strengthen economic security for America’s women, we strengthen economic security for America’s families. My Democratic colleagues and I will continue to work on behalf of the opportunity for all Americans to participate equally in the prosperity of our country.

Congresswoman Pelosi celebrates LGBT Pride Month throughout the month of June.

    25 Days…
Time is running out, with only 25 days remaining until student loan rates double for over 7 million Americans nationwide. Unless Congress acts now, the increase will add $6.3 billion to students’ debt burden in one year alone. We are committed to preventing the increase from happening and keeping college affordable. Republicans, on the other hand, voted in their budget to double the student loan interest rate, while also slashing financial aid by $166 billion over 10 years at the same time that they protect millionaires, Big Oil, and corporations that ship jobs overseas.

The GOP has abandoned efforts to work with Democrats to find a responsible path that would prevent the doubling of interest rates on America’s students.
