Bernie Sanders Exposes Bills Buying Our Elections

Good morning!

Bernie Sanders Exposes the 26 Billionaires who are Buying the 2012 Election

In his new report, America For Sale: A Report on Billionaires Buying the 2012 Election, Sen. Bernie Sanders named names and called out the billionaires who using Citizens United to buy our democracy.

In front of a Senate panel today, Sen. Bernie Sanders outed the 26 billionaires who are members of 23 billionaire families that are using Citizens United to buy elections. Sen. Sanders estimated that these 26 billionaires are the tip of the iceberg. “My guess is that number is really much greater because many of these contributions are made in secret. In other words, not content to own our economy, the 1 percent want to own our government as well.”

Sanders explained how the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision put the government up for sale, “What the Supreme Court did in Citizens United is to say to these same billionaires and the corporations they control: ‘You own and control the economy, you own Wall Street, you own the coal companies, you own the oil companies. Now, for a very small percentage of your wealth, we’re going to give you the opportunity to own the United States government.’”

Sen. Sanders also did the last thing the billionaires wanted. He called them out by name.

According to the report, America for Sale: A Report on Billionaires Buying the 2012 Election, here are the 26 billionaires who are trying to buy your government:

1). Sheldon Adelson, owner of the Las Vegas Sands Casino, is worth nearly $25 billion, making him the 14th wealthiest person in the world and the 7th richest person in America. While median family income plummeted by nearly 40% from 2007-2010, Mr. Adelson has experienced a nearly eightfold increase in his wealth over the past three years (from $3.4 billion to $24.9 billion). Forbes recently reported that Adelson is willing to spend a “limitless” amount of money or more than $100 million to help defeat President Obama in November.

2. The Kochs (David, Charles, and William) are worth a combined $103 billion, according to Forbes. They have pledged to spend about $400 million during the 2012 election season. The Kochs own more wealth than the bottom 41.7 percent of American households or more than 49 million Americans.

3. Jim Walton is worth $23.7 billion. He has donated $300,000 to super PACs in 2012.

4. Harold Simmons is worth $9 billion. He has donated $15.2 million to super PACs this year.

5. Peter Thiel is worth $1.5 billion. He has donated $6.7 million to Super PACs this year.

6. Jerrold Perenchio is worth $2.3 billion. He has donated $2.6 million to super PACs this year.

7. Kenneth Griffin is worth $3 billion and he has given $2.08 million to super PACs in 2012.

8. James Simons
is worth $10.7 billion and he has given $1.5 million to super Pacs this year.

9. Julian Robertson is worth $2.5 billion and he has given $1.25 million to super PACs this year.

10. Robert Rowling is worth $4.8 billion and he has given $1.1 million to super PACs.

11. John Paulson, the hedge fund manager who made his fortune betting that the sub-prime mortgage market would collapse, is worth $12.5 billion. He has donated $1 million to super PACs.

12. Richard and J.W. Marriott
are worth a combined $3.1 billion and they have donated $2 million to super PACs this year.

13. James Davis is worth $1.9 billion and he has given $1 million to super PACs this year.

14. Harold Hamm is worth $11 billion and he has given $985,000 to super PACs this year.

15. Kenny Trout is worth more than $1.2 billion and he has given $900,000 to super PACs this year.

16. Louis Bacon is worth $1.4 billion and he has given $500,000 to super PACs this year.

17. Bruce Kovner is worth $4.5 billion and he has given $500,000 to super PACs this year.

18. Warren Stephens is worth $2.7 billion and he has given $500,000 to super PACs this year.

19. David Tepper is worth $5.1 billion and he has given $375,000 to super PACs this year.

20. Samuel Zell is worth $4.9 billion and he has given $270,000 to super PACs this year.

21. Leslie Wexner is worth $4.3 billion and he has given $250,000 to super PACs this year.

22. Charles Schwab
is worth $3.5 billion and he has given $250,000 to super PACs this year.

23. Kelcy Warren
is worth $2.3 billion and he has given $250,000 to super PACs this year.

The thing that these billionaires love most about Citizens United it is that it allows them to operate in total darkness. The American people couldn’t fight back because the billionaires were giving their money anonymously. This same cloak of invisibility is what made ALEC so effective for years. The conservative billionaire cabal works best in private, behind closed doors, far away from curious eyes.

With his report today, Sen. Sanders has made it more difficult for thieves of liberty to keep operating in the night. We now have a list of names and we know what they are trying to do to our government. Sen. Sanders is one of the few federally elected officials who has the courage to talk about these people in public.

Most of the members of the House and Senate are too afraid to speak of, much less take on, the billionaires. Even those decent members of Congress who might speak out against them have been terrified into silence by threats of multimillion dollar negative ad buys that will run against the incumbent back home.

Bernie Sanders is displaying a brand of political courage that is sorely lacking in American politics today, and he needs you to stand with him to protect our liberties, our freedoms, and to battle to return the government back to the American people.

    Weed-Free Garden…with Ease

Pulling up weeds is feel-good therapy—it helps me calm down when I’m anxious or aggravated…provides a physical workout while saving me a trip to the gym…and brings the added bonus of a prettier garden.

But oh, how an afternoon of bending, squatting, reaching and twisting can make my muscles ache.

After one recent session of soreness-inducing weeding, I phoned Rachel Hazuga, the community wellness/fitness director at the La Crosse Area Family YMCA in Wisconsin, who is herself an accomplished gardener.

She gave me some great suggestions on how to prevent post-yardwork aches and pains. Her tips…
Before weeding, do some stretching exercises for a few minutes to warm up your muscles, then stretch again when your gardening is done.

Examples: Interlock your hands behind your back…keeping shoulders down and shoulder blades drawn together, gently lift your arms to feel a stretch through your chest.

Next, standing with feet shoulder-width apart and knees very slightly bent, reach your arms out to your sides at shoulder height…

then reach overhead as high as you can…then bend forward at the waist and touch your toes (or shins, depending on your flexibility).

As you weed, change your body position frequently, Hazuga advised. For instance, alternate between perching on a low stool…kneeling on a cushion…and sitting on a pad on the ground.

Use both hands to yank up weeds, not just your dominant hand. When you’ve cleared the area closest to you, move your whole body closer to the next patch of weeds—don’t try twisting your trunk too far or reaching out beyond your comfort zone.

Take a break every 20 minutes or so, walking around to stretch out your muscles. To keep track of the time, Hazuga suggested using a portable kitchen timer or creating a special gardening playlist on your iPod.

(This worked well for me—now every sixth song is a Beatles number, which serves as my reminder to stand up.)

When moving piles of weeds into the wheelbarrow or trash receptacle, bend your knees and lift straight up, keeping your spine straight.

Let your leg and buttock muscles do the work, and avoid twisting or turning while lifting—otherwise, you could strain your back.

Stay well-hydrated, especially when weeding in hot, humid weather. Research shows that dehydration contributes to the delayed-onset muscle soreness that can develop a day or two after physical activity.

Rule of (green) thumb: While gardening, take a big gulp of water every 15 minutes or so, aiming for eight to 11 ounces per hour, Hazuga suggested.

Know when to call it a day. “When you’re fatigued, it’s easy to forget proper body mechanics—and that increases your risk for injury,” Hazuga noted.

So don’t overdo it…the weeds you don’t get rid of right now can be dealt with another day.

Source: Rachel Hazuga is the community wellness/fitness director at the La Crosse Area Family YMCA, a former associate lecturer in the department of exercise and sport science at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a certified Iyengar yoga instructor, all in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

She is currently working toward completion of the Master Gardener training program through the University of Wisconsin-Extension.

We can eliminate the harm a tiny dick white boy can do when he gets his hands on an automatic weapon(“semiautomatic” weapon to you really tiny dick white boys who will say anything to continue to be allowed to buy the big gun.) so he can shoot innocent people by outlawing the ownership of all automatic weapons.

Sure some people will still find a way to get their hands on one but consider this, the cops won’t have to ask it the one he comes up against is legal, all he has to do is whatever it takes to get it away from the tiny dick wonder.

If his aim is good, that will be one less tiny dick wonder around.

Clearly, in his Virginia speech, President Obama was making a point about the way infrastructure supports business and the interconnectedness of the economy and government with personal success and hard work. But, you see, he accidentally said “that” at one point when he meant “those.”

Mitt Romney is deliberately misstating and misrepresenting Obama’s position and making it a center piece of his campaign.

Who supports a person like that? You have to despise that person but if you are white and a racist you can despise and vote for him if that vote will keep the black many out of office.

  6. Lance Says:

“The point is that, when we succeed, we succeed because our individual initiatives, but also because we do things together.”

I mean, doesn’t that just wrap the entire speech up? How can you say that he thinks that people who open businesses don’t put anything into it, personally?

  7. PD Says:

Hanging your attack on a person’s slight grammatical misstep is what people do in an argument when they’re completely f***ed and know they have no argument.”

I am going to print out that line and post next to my computer. I will reference it every time someone retorts to a well reasoned essay with ‘you are an idiot, you used the word “to” instead of the word “too” which would have been the proper usage in this context’

  8. JF Says:

Obama is running his entire campaign on Bain outsourcing attacks which are 100% false. Yes dems, look at any fact checking website

But romney is running HIS entire campaign on how successful he was as a businessman …running Bane…the outsourcing

  9. Kathy Says:

Connie, you are so right when deliberate misunderstanding is the cornerstone of your campaign, your platform is very shaky, if not downright pathetic.

  10. HOWIE Says:

    RE: Luc #3 July 25:

Several people would like to know what Luc is saying in his comment #3 on July 25. It is a dialogue between Luc and C7/f21-H4 who is an alien from Ciaki. I will try to make more sense of it for humans to understand.

Luc is saying that the Ciaki are as emotional as humans and Luc is referring to the huge number of Ciaki personnel that have gone AWOL. Most went AWOL because they fell in love with their human partner and refused to return to duty aboard their mother ship.

Then Luc is referring to the fact that the Ciaki have appealed to the TAO to support them in their rejection of the alien Council’s recommendation that they take the Council’s course which teaches how to govern the emotional sense.

We appeal to your logic. As opposed to their emotions mixed with their logic as humans use them to reason. No human life nor any of your crew will be saved by your actions. The Ciaki have lost the lives of many of their crew and at least one human. It is not often that those of us who make up a particular Council reveal who we are. But I believe that since I have worked with you in the past, it would help to know that there was someone on the Amalgamate Council (The head of several Alien councils set up to police the various alien entities that come to this solar system. They periodically report to the Emperor’s Earth Dept.) that was familiar with your world and its particular set of circumstances.

I assure you that we did not deliberate lightly neither did we condescend toward your emotional factor (Here Luc is referring to the fact that the Ciaki have similar emotional characteristics as earthlings. I personally understand several of the problems that your crew has experienced as I have been working on a model to work with an earthling myself. Here Luc is referring to the fact that he is in charge of finding models to interact with humans.

Cutting off all communications with the Council and attempting to use the TAO as an Ambassador is not unprecedented, but it is highly unusual. In some ways it will reflect on your tendencies to allow your emotional factors to integrate with your logical deliberations. Here he is saying that the Ciaki are making an emotional rather than logical judgment.

That was one of the central themes that resulted in the recommendation that you cease contact with humans until you have taken the Lxcerian course on emotional abatement (This is a course that teaches one how to control their emotions). Your objection to having to achieve a passing score to continue association with humans is noted (the Ciaki have accepted the classes but differ on what score means they are capable of mingling with humans without being affected by the human’s emotion) and can be further debated along the lines of the score that would properly indicate the ability to interact with humans without emotional cross contamination.

But your objection to having to take the course at all is not up for debate by the decision of the full Supreme Council. The Ciaki decided they did not want to even take the course.
The Technological Council debated the merits of your argument against accepting the science of Emotional Interference(EI) with every leaning towards the fact that you bring exceptional Intellect with your set of emotional influences. The Council accepted the recommendation of the Scientists that said that the Ciaki were not capable of interacting with humans without having the ability to turn off their (the Ciakis’) emotional state.

However they agreed that the facts showed that there were cross purposes at work and they cannot be remedied by your attempt to intellectual introspection in a vacuum. You need assistance.
Your loss of a key human is the direct result of not maintaining an unemotional distance from the human when attempting to diagnose and/or treat a human. The Ciaki are too emotional to deal with the emotions of humans.

Your attempt to restore life to that individual without regard to Anomaly factors is in violation of the Science of Anomaly edits. The woman the Ciaki attempted to save physically died because he referred her to human doctors rather than using his own science to save her. He was too emotionally involved with her to risk his science over her own. Afterwards he decided to bring her back to life after she was declared dead by an earth medical doctor. This was in direct violation to the directives from his own mother ship.

Your loss of key personal can be attributed to the same set of circumstances. This poses a problem to all of us as we are experiencing an inability to catch dissenters and deserters that have their technology enhanced by members of your crew who have and have not defected. Here Luc is referring to the fact that deserters from all the alien ships are evading capture because of their ability to use technology from the Ciaki deserters and the Ciaki sympathizers. They have sympathizers because the Ciaki are emotional and hence they can feel for the deserters and the humans. Some of them feel that it is love that is uniting the humans with their friends so they are willing to help him.

This must stop. Either you take steps to stop it or the Jurisdiction Council (The police force of Amalgamated Council) will appoint others to do it for you. You may appeal this decision with the aid of the Jurisdictional Counsel.

Appealing to the TAO as if they are some balancing authority to the Emperor’s Edicts is unacceptable. They will intercede to prevent the Ciaki from aligning with the TAO to continue their contact with humans. — Luc.

I hope those interested in Luc’s conversation understand it better now.

Carr is very real and someone YOU and only YOU should fear because of the way you toss him out of the picture in your comment.

Howie, love it…the story, the way you tell it and the way you just told it now in comment #14, you are the man, and thank you. These stories always remind me that there are things in play in this universe that we all do not and probably never will totally understand and it’s not just some human emotionally needy construct of a god myth. Interesting that aliens of higher intellectual power can get so caught up with us humans and be so swept away. It is an endearing quality some if us humans possess and apparently some aliens also. Touching story. Always wishing you the best – ZL

  16. Zen Lill Says:

  17. Kent Says:

Howie, I really don’t want to get off on the wrong foot with you. To be honest, I really don’t care whether what you are telling us is true.

I only care that it is interesting. No, that is a bit of a lie, I only care that it is something that will sell BIG!

What you concoct, or are told, is simply a thrill to the ear and at treat to the eye when shown with present day digital technology.

To think otherwise is naive at best. I am not saying you have to exploit what your are telling us. Only that it is naive to think that it is JUST information and others won’t exploit it.

You must have thousands of readers here who tune in not to get the TRUTH, but to get what you say.

Again what I am saying is whether or not it is true, it IS entertaining.

I offer you a slice of the pie because I intend and to sell it, and indeed have sold it. Don’t get angry because I am honest enough to admit it. There are probably hundreds of readers who are doing the same thing but just not saying so.

I sincerely thank you for your contribution to my very nicely increased income.

Great Howie. As Zen Lill said it is humbling to know that we are not the only ones with the “weakness” of emotion.

And it is equally humbling to hear how much it is valued by those aliens that have it.

  19. Health Info Says:

Self-Test to Know if You’re Really Depressed

Are a lot of the people in your life not very happy? Then you might say to yourself, That’s just life. And as a result, you might not talk to a doctor about whether you have depression…even if you do.

Do the people in your life tend to be upbeat and calm? Then you might mistakenly conclude that if you feel blue or worried, you must be depressed and need drugs…when in fact you don’t!

It’s all a question of how well you can truly “know thyself”—and a new study out of the UK makes two important points about that.

First, depending on whom you hang out with, it’s very easy for your perspective on your own mental health to become skewed…and second, there is a better, more objective way that you can judge your true state of mind.

    WHAT’S “NORMAL”?

In a study at the University of Warwick, psychology PhD student Karen L. Melrose and her colleagues asked participants to fill out questionnaires asking how many days a month they felt “depressed, sad, blue and/or tearful” and on how many days they experienced “excessive anxiety.”

Next, researchers asked how many days a month they believed that people in general experienced these symptoms.

Finally, researchers asked subjects to rank whether or not they were depressed and/or anxious on a five-point scale—“definitely not,” “probably not,” “not sure,” “probably” or “definitely.”

You might think that those who felt depressed and/or anxious on the most days per month would be the most likely to say that they were “definitely” depressed and/or anxious, but that wasn’t the case.

Instead, researchers found that subjects were not influenced by their symptoms’ frequency—but rather by how their symptoms ranked in comparison to other people that they knew.

For example, if a participant reported that he felt depressed, say, 10 days a month and reported that people, in general, also felt depressed 10 days a month, then he was more likely to say that he was “definitely not depressed.”

On the other hand, if a participant reported that he felt depressed 10 days a month and reported that people, in general, felt depressed zero days a month, then he was more likely to say that he was “definitely depressed.”

In other words, Melrose explained, two people can experience the same symptoms the same number of days a month but come to very different conclusions—based not on what they feel and experience but on what they believe others feel and experience.

A BETTER WAY TO EVALUATE SYMPTOMS

Are you depressed and/or anxious? To get a more objective sense, Melrose recommends that you take the following screening quizzes created by the nonprofit organization Mental Health America.

Click here for the depression screening quiz.
Click here for the anxiety screening quiz.

If, based on the screening quizzes above, you believe that you might have depression and/or anxiety, bring it up with your primary care provider, who can refer you to a mental health professional.

Also, at the Web site of the government’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, http://store.samhsa.gov/mhlocator, you can enter your zip code to get information about mental health resources for depression and anxiety in your area.

Keep in mind, Melrose added, that these conditions are troubling, but they are treatable.

Howie, you are just great. My science class loves your stories. Checking the things you talk about against our present day scientific knowledge makes my 12th grade physic class anxious to prove or dis prove your science.

You have convinced my entire class that there must be aliens. Fantastic! I am in awe of the influence you have had on their grades.

    Thank you.

So why are you Brits letting this candidate meet with your head of state and security? Back in the US, he is down in the polls in all the swing states. I.e., his prospects are so-so. Did candidates Obama, John Kerry, Al Gore, and Bill Clinton get to meet with your top officials? Maybe they did and I forgot?
Is he raising campaign funds here? What is up with that?
Oh, sorry he’s so embarrassing, you can see why smart, informed people won’t vote for him. Sorry there aren’t more of those in the US..

Why on earth did Romney come to the UK, making high profile appointments left right and centre in the busy days running up to the olympic weekend etc?

    Was it to
!) Give encouragement to the USA team?
    2) Support the USA’s greatest ally-the UK ?
    3) Promote his presidential campaign?
    4) Deliberately self sabotage his ego?

The thing I like about Britain is that we can moan and groan and criticise ourselves, but when some loud-mouthed know-it-all American comes over and criticises us we all stick together. Send him home with a fea in his ear.

Romney is just another telepromter reader. Romney was present at the Bilderberg meeting in Washington this year according to various sources, he’s been made the main main after Ron Paul was completely bypassed by the US banking syndicate controlled media.

Romney’s just a puppet who is being steered by the men in grey suits.
