LSOS Ryan Lies Again…And Again…And Again…

Good morning!

It’s rare that I post something that is the headliner on the Huff Po but I couldn’t help it this time. You all know what I’m talking about since there is chatter on my blog about it already. Lies and LSOSs like Ryan need to be exposed.

Paul Ryan Address: Convention Speech Built On Demonstrably Misleading Assertions

TAMPA, Fla. – Paul Ryan pledged Wednesday that if he and his running mate Mitt Romney were elected president, they would usher in an ethic of responsibility. The Wisconsin congressman and GOP vice presidential candidate repeatedly chided President Barack Obama for blaming the jobs and housing crises on his predecessor, saying that his habit of “forever shifting blame to the last administration, is getting old. The man assumed office almost four years ago -– isn’t it about time he assumed responsibility?”

Ryan then noted that Obama, while campaigning for president, promised that a GM plant in Wisconsin would not shut down. “That plant didn’t last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And that’s how it is in so many towns today, where the recovery that was promised is nowhere in sight,” Ryan said.

Except Obama didn’t promise that. And the plant closed in December 2008 — while George W. Bush was president.

It was just one of several striking and demonstrably misleading elements of Ryan’s much-anticipated acceptance speech. And it comes just days after Romney pollster Neil Newhouse warned, defending the campaign’s demonstrably false ads claiming Obama removed work requirements from welfare, “We’re not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers.”

Ryan, for his part, slammed the president for not supporting a deficit commission report without mentioning that he himself had voted against it, helping to kill it.

He also made a cornerstone of his argument the claim that Obama “funneled” $716 billion out of Medicare to pay for Obamacare. But he didn’t mention that his own budget plan relies on those very same savings.

Ryan also put responsibility for Standard & Poor’s downgrade of U.S. government debt at Obama’s doorstep. But he didn’t mention that S&P itself, in explaining its downgrade, referred to the debt ceiling standoff. That process of raising the debt ceiling was only politicized in the last Congress, driven by House Republicans, led in the charge by Paul Ryan.

The credit rater also said it worried that Republicans would never agree to tax increases. “We have changed our assumption on [revenue] because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues,” S&P wrote.

Jodie Layton, a convention goer from Utah watching the Ryan speech, said she was blown away by the vice presidential candidate. But she said she was surprised to hear that after his speech about taking responsibility, he’d pinned a Bush-era plant closing on Obama.

“It closed in December 2008?” she asked, making sure she heard a HuffPost reporter’s question right. After a long pause, she said, “It’s happening a lot on both sides. It’s to be expected.”

Ryan has referenced the GM plant before, and his attack was debunked by theDetroit News, which called it inaccurate. “In fact, Obama made no such promise and the plant halted production in December 2008, when President George W. Bush was in office,” Detroit News reporter David Sherpardson wrote earlier this month. “Obama did speak at the plant in February 2008, and suggested that a government partnership with automakers could keep the plant open, but made no promises as Ryan suggested.”

After the speech, CNN’s political commentators focused mostly on Ryan’s misstatements, demonstrating the degree to which they were evident.

Top Obama adviser David Axelrod jumped on the GM factory claim. “Again, Ryan blames Obama for a GM plant that closed under Bush. But then, they did say they wouldn’t ‘let fact checkers get in the way.’”

Ryan, however, appears to have made the calculation that the misleading won’t hurt him with voters. He might be right. CNN’s David Gergen, while acknowledging some “misstatements” in Ryan’s address, suggested that pundits focus elsewhere. “But let’s not forget that this was a speech about big ideas,” he told his audience.

*R*Y*A*N*L*S*O*S*

Readers: Repubs are banking on, and HOPEing that if the lies are told over and over again, people will see it as the truth. I am HOPEing that if we expose these LSOSs over and over again, people will come to their senses and see the real truth.

Zen Lill: That is a satirical site, hence the write is not real…but certainly hilarious!

Lucy: That is one disgusting story. I wish I could say I am surprised at those hideous remarks and actions, but I am not.

Peace out.

  1. Human Events Says:

Thursday at Human Events means press day, and we are working hard on next week’s issue. What to expect: DNC preview and RNC review, top 10 memorable DNC moments and, as always, a full complement of stories from our staff writers. But, leading off online today:

Ryan: ‘Proud to accept the calling of my generation’ – John Gizzi from the Tampa Bay Times forum last night: “With one speech, Paul Ryan invoked images of the role he would play in the weeks ahead: visionary orator, campaign attack dog, and – without argument – a policy-player in what he repeatedly called ‘a Romney-Ryan administration.’

Like John F. Kennedy and the man he called ‘the great Jack Kemp,” Ryan invoked his youth. He was proud, he said, to “accept the calling of my generation” and to help lead the charge to provide “opportunity for the young and security for the old.’” Read more of John Gizzi’s analysis below.

Condoleezza Rice rocks the house– Hope Hodge’s play-by-play of arguably the best speech of the convention so far is below. A snippet to whet your appetite: “In perhaps the most chilling moment of the night, she praised America for being a land of opportunity, where people are a product of their actions, not of their status. She recalled growing up in ‘Jim Crow’ Birmingham, Ala., where as a young black girl she couldn’t eat at the local restaurants or buy a ticket to the movie theaters.

But her parents taught that little girl, she said, ‘Even if she couldn’t get a hamburger at the Woolworth’s counter, she could be president of the United States if she wanted to be.’

In the convention hall, the crowd roared.”

As the left goes apoplectic over the quality, substance and rhetorically mastery displayed last night, they are already engaged in fabrication and spin tactics that have been emblematic the entire campaign. A portion of Paul Ryan’s speech where he is discussing the Janesville, Wis. car plant that then-candidate Obama promised to keep open, specifically. The left is engaged in a spin war, and John Hayward defuses it. This is the most important thing you’ll read today. You’ll need to be ready to know the facts and wade through the MSM drivel. The story is below.

Also, from John late this morning:

Ron Paul delegates express anger, discontent at rules change

Former Mass. Gov. Weld regrets supporting Obama

    Have a great day,

Hi Misch, saw your missed call…I’ll try you asap. I know – satire – funny though, right?
& the unfunny part is: LSOS’s of the gOp could actually try and sell it, bc they think if they say it’s fact, it’s fact…think again, peeps.
    Luv, Zen Lill

  3. Mitt Romney Says:

    Friend,

In a few hours, I’ll take the podium before a Republican Party that has been united and inspired by a common conviction:

    We believe in America.

We believe in America, even though the last four years have been full of difficulties and disappointments, doubt and despair.

We believe in America, even though millions of American families are worried about their jobs, their mortgages, their children, and their future.

We believe in America, even though President Obama’s failed policies have left us with record high unemployment, lower take-home pay, and the weakest economy since the Great Depression.

But we also believe that America can do better, because decline is not our destiny.

I commit to you that I will be the president this moment demands.

I ask you to commit like never before — donate $20.12 to support Paul and me and the entire Republican team.

It will be my privilege to stand at the podium to accept the nomination. And I will stand not just for every supporter, and not just for the Republican Party — I’ll stand for every American who believes our best days are ahead.

    Thank you,

    Mitt Romney

  4. Nancy Says:

When I heard this I said he must be republican.

In a recent interview with the National Catholic Register, Father Benedict Groeschel, of the conservative Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, said that teens act as seducers in some sexual abuse cases involving priests.

It’s been close to a decade since an investigation into clergy sex abuse cases by The Boston Globe unearthed a shocking scandal and cover-up that rocked the foundations of the Catholic Church in the U.S. and around the world.

Ten years may have passed, but the wounds have yet to fully heal in America, especially in light of the recent Penn State allegations, as well as the trial of Monsignor William Lynn, former secretary for the clergy in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

In light of this, the recent comments by Groeschel seem both puzzling and jarringly out of step with current sentiments.

  8. Casone Says:

When I heard Ryan and his lies, I wondered if he learned to lie from his atheist hero or from the Catholic church?

  9. Andrea Says:

“Paul Ryan Address: Convention Speech Built On Demonstrably Misleading Assertions”

    Demonstrably Misleading Assertions = LIES!!!

But then again, when has any Republican in recent memory let a little thing like th TRUTH get it the way of their agenda?

  10. Ellie Says:

One things for sure about that LSOS speech by Ryan is Obama didn’t build that.

  11. Jeb Says:

It used to be “say anything to get elected”, now it’s “speak any lie and get elected”. For Ryan to pop out of the box and take the stage in Tampa to mainly tell falsehoods was surprising for myself and other conservatives.

We thought the RNC was going to be nights of positive energy with the revealing of the plans we’ve only heard exists. Tonight Romney takes the stage and maybe we”ll hear specifics on the plan.

It needs to be brought into the open for our examination soon. Night after night of Obama bashing has lost it’s appeal and has become a little lame and infantile.

  12. Demi Says:

the whole GOP party is built on lies, hypocrisy, and white collar criminal activities!!! so what’s new!!!

  13. Sam Says:

Young Frank-and-Unkind Ryan was saying what assembled Republicans wanted to be heard by three age segments of the Americans: workers trying to find or keep a job, retired seniors trying to hold body and soul together with affordable health care, and the younger generation hard pressed to afford an education.

To mislead workers; Ryan tried to hold President Obama responsible for loss of jobs at a GM auto plant that closed in the year prior to Obama taking office. To add insult to incredulity, Gov. Scott Walker tried to flimflam the distortion by saying the president should have taken Mitt Romney’s advice on GM going through a controlled bankruptcy, but the president that could have taken the advice was George W. Bush.

To mislead seniors; Ryan said that a Romney-Bush administration would ensure that Medicare was there for them. Assuming that their administration will still be a part of government, this does not fit with Ryan’s plan to privatize government out of ensuring the available of health care to seniors and turn it ver to the private insurance industry.

In misportrayal of the younger generation: Ryan painted a picture of students sitting in their dorm rooms disappointed that nothing was being done to help them afford an education. This said and not mentioning that while youth were worrying Ryan was leading Republicans to stall out the establishment of interest rates that would let students better afford the rent on the rooms in which they were sitting.

  14. Rolling Stone Says:

Mitt Romney likes to say he won’t “apologize” for his success in business. But what he never says is “thank you” – to the American people – for the federal bailout of Bain & Company that made so much of his outsize wealth possible.

According to the candidate’s mythology, Romney took leave of his duties at the private equity firm Bain Capital in 1990 and rode in on a white horse to lead a swift restructuring of Bain & Company, preventing the collapse of the consulting firm where his career began. When The Boston Globe reported on the rescue at the time of his Senate run against Ted Kennedy, campaign aides spun Romney as the wizard behind a “long-shot miracle,” bragging that he had “saved bank depositors all over the country $30 million when he saved Bain & Company.”

In fact, government documents on the bailout obtained by Rolling Stone show that the legend crafted by Romney is basically a lie. The federal records, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, reveal that Romney’s initial rescue attempt at Bain & Company was actually a disaster – leaving the firm so financially strapped that it had “no value as a going concern.” Even worse, the federal bailout ultimately engineered by Romney screwed the FDIC – the bank insurance system backed by taxpayers – out of at least $10 million. And in an added insult, Romney rewarded top executives at Bain with hefty bonuses at the very moment that he was demanding his handout from the feds.

  15. Lorenzo Says:

Misleading? Call it what it is lies, lies and more lies. Everything he said had already been proven wrong. He willfully lied to the people of the United States.

    =========================
Really? So the priest have a one free pass to molestation/rape of a minor? Why not extend it to everybody else? Why should priests be the exception.?

And how does anyone actually determine someone’s ‘ intention” ? Or how about one free pass for all other crimes like theft, murder, assault etc? Does he think rape of a minor is a lesser crime compared to stealing a loaf of bread by a homeless guy?

And this guy is a professor.? Thank God he is not a professor at my college.

  19. CP Says:

Take a Vacation from Motion Sickness

Standing in the summer sun on a gently rocking boat…riding in a car that’s snaking down a winding country road—these should be pleasurable parts of your vacation. They certainly shouldn’t make you feel sick!

But for many people who experience motion sickness, riding in just about any kind of vehicle—planes and trains, too—can ruin the entire trip, making them queasy, dizzy, anxious and/or cranky.

There are several popular drugs for motion sickness, but they all (of course) have side effects. Dramamine (dimenhydrinate), for example, often causes drowsiness.

Curious about alternative natural treatments that might relieve motion sickness, I contacted two experts in the field, and I am going to share their tips with you today.

    SPICES THAT FIGHT MOTION SICKNESS

The first expert I called was Keith Zeitlin, ND, director of the 5-Elements Naturopathic Health Center in Wallingford, Connecticut. He told me that a couple of spices that might already be in your kitchen are great for preventing motion sickness…
    Ginger.

A few minutes before traveling, do one of the following three things. Chew on a piece of raw gingerroot for three minutes and then spit it out…munch on one piece of candy called a Ginger Chew, which is made by The Ginger People and is available at many supermarkets and online…or take one gingerroot capsule.

These capsules are available at health-food stores and online. (It’s important to check with your doctor before taking any supplement, because supplements may cause side effects and/or may interact negatively with drugs you’re taking.) Repeat any of these measures if motion sickness occurs while traveling.

    Cinnamon.
If ginger doesn’t work, a few minutes before you travel, take a few sniffs of cinnamon essential oil (aura cacia) which is available at health-food stores and online.

If you get motion sickness while traveling, sniff the cinnamon oil a few times again. But be careful not to sniff the oil too deeply, because it’s quite strong!

    TRY ACUPRESSURE

The second expert I contacted was Lixing Lao, PhD, professor of family and community medicine at University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.

Pressing a certain part of the arm called the P6 Point, Dr. Lao said, often can relieve motion sickness. This particular spot is on the inner forearm about 1.5 inches (or two thumb widths) up the arm from the center of the wrist.

    How to do it:
About three hours before your trip and again a few minutes before you depart, apply pressure to the P6 Point, on one wrist—it doesn’t matter which one.

You can do it yourself or have someone else apply the pressure. To do it yourself: With one hand, grasp your other arm and turn it palm up.

Put your thumb on the P6 Point and put the rest of your fingers on the outside of your forearm. Apply sustained pressure with your thumb for about three minutes.

The pressure should be firm—just below the level of pain. If you start to feel sick while traveling, apply pressure again.

Several companies make devices called motion sickness bands (such as the brand called Sea Bands) that cost about $7 to $15 at drugstores and online.

They’re wrist straps that contain buttons, and they’re tight and made with elastic. After you put them on properly (carefully following the instructions and placing the button over the P6 point), the button then continuously presses into the P6 point.

They’re convenient, because you don’t have to press with your thumb, and you can wear one on each wrist simultaneously for as long as needed, so you might find that using the wristbands provides more relief than the trying this trick manually.

Sources: Keith Zeitlin, ND, medical director of the 5 Elements Naturopathic Health Center in Wallingford, Connecticut.

Lixiand Lao, PhD, professor, family and community medicine, University of Maryland School of Medicine, and senior researcher with The Center for Integrative Medicine, Kernan Hospital, both in Baltimore.

I just finished listening to Mitt’s bullshit. I don’t know what is worse. The general touch on key subjects, or the analysis of that crap by the pundits.

And I am so sick of the statement that Romney humanized himself with his speech. Just because you say that doesn’t mean that it is true.

    Harrietta

  24. Jamie Says:

I am too sick that this “humanized him.” But with the pundits telling us that this or that guy gave a ‘brilliant” speech, I can’t help but think that if they don’t tell us, then we wouldn’t know that it was a “great” speech.

    Jamie

  25. Linora Says:

For me it is Chris Matthews that sucks. He is for the dems, but watching him I see my dad. A white man that is trying hard to shed those racist tolerances that make allowances for white men who lie while pretending it is about something else.

It’s sad when one disgruntled, narcissistic BAPF white boy can’t get all the stars and has to destroy the good and patriotic accomplishments of others. who risked their life for their country.

If there is a god or Allah in heaven someone will find Matt Bissonnette, 36, of Wrangell, Alaska, and teach him the error of his ways. May it be real and personal.

In the meantime, he should go back and watch President Obama’s clip when he announced that Bin Laden was dead.

President Obama gave the credit where due and did not take the credit for himself as Matt Bissonnette, 36, of Wrangell, Alaska, has falsely accused him of doing.

Matt Bissonnette, 36, of Wrangell, Alaska. is a scar on the seals. May it be removed soon, albeit very slowly. If they can do it before he gets to enjoy any of the blood money he sold out for, all the better.

  29. DJ Says:

I knew Obama was low but to stiff Seal Team Six on the beer he promised when they delivered the only good thing to come out of his administration? Proof positive the man has no scruples whatsoever.

  30. Kenny Says:

How many times am I going to have to hear the pundits tell us how important Mitt’s speech was. It humanized him. Gag me with a spoon.

White boys can rest easy because white males defer to the bullshit of those LSOS white boys. Like Chris Matthews waxing sentimental over Romney saying “I wish the president to succeed because I wanted the country to succeed.”

Chris, made the stupid statement that he believed Romney even while acknowledging that he knew that the republican congress had agreed to defy Obama at every attempt to save the economy.

Only white america can continue to defer to each other when they are being LSOSs.

  31. Juanita Says:

I was not to happy with Clint Eastwoods’ disrespect of the office of the POTUS.

Especially since CLINT DIDN’T BUILD THAT:

    Eastwood Films Got Government Help
WASHINGTON — Film director Clint Eastwood will be cheering on Mitt Romney and his party’s “you didn’t build that!” message during Thursday night’s Republican National Convention festivities.

But there’s one small problem: Clint Eastwood didn’t build that. Just like the small business owners who spoke on previous nights at the convention in Tampa, Fla., Eastwood, a hugely successful independent filmmaker, has benefited from generous tax credits to produce his movies all over the world — the same kinds of film tax credits that Romney signed into law as governor.

Eastwood received a 42 percent tax credit in 2008 after shifting the setting of his movie “Gran Torino” from Minneapolis to Detroit, a city dubbed by The New York Times as “the home of 42 percent tax credits for films made there.”

Eastwood also took advantage of a Massachusetts tax credit in 2003 for filming “Mystic River” in that state. His reliance on government aid has extended beyond U.S. borders.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote in 2009 that his movie “Invictus” received a tax incentive package from the South African government that knocked $5 million off the film’s budget.

Eastwood’s 2010 film “Hereafter” qualified for a 20 percent rebate from the French government and a received a 25 percent tax credit from the British government after certain scenes were filmed in each of the countries.

Eastwood’s “Flags Of Our Fathers” also benefited from a 20 percent incentive package for filming in Iceland.

Along with an explainer on the country’s tax credit for filmmakers, Iceland’s Film Commission features a quote from Eastwood on its website touting the benefits of filming in the country: “Flying in over the black sand beaches and lava fields, I could see that Iceland had the rugged and unusual look we needed for our film, ‘Flags Of Our Fathers.’

I soon learned that Iceland also has friendly, hard-working people with a refreshing can-do spirit. The open roads and undisturbed countryside remind me of the way America was fifty years ago.

With such gorgeous scenery, delicious fish and even golf, Iceland made for a terrific filming location,” Eastwood said. Romney is familiar with the kinds of tax breaks being used by film directors like Eastwood.

As Massachusetts governor, he signed legislation offering an array of tax breaks aimed at attracting major films to his state.

The Patriot Ledger reported in December 2005 that, because of the new package, a single film production could receive up to $7 million in tax credits, making Massachusetts “among the five most generous states in the country” at the time.

The Massachusetts Department of Revenue later reported that $19.1 million in tax credits were generated in fiscal 2006 lone.

  32. Paul Says:

“Republican were more than twice as likely as those who identified as independents to say that blacks supported Democrats because they were government dependents, “want something for nothing” or were on welfare.”

This is the lie that will be White America’s downfall. African Americans represent just 12.6% of the population. White makes up 72.6% of the population.

About 61 percent of welfare recipients are White, while 33 percent are Black. The federal government defines welfare as all entitlement programs funded through taxes.

So the number of Whites in the country is about 216,000,000. Blacks are about 37,800.000. While the number of Blacks that get welfare is about 12,474,000, Whites get over 10 times as much with a number of 131,760,000. As they should, just because of sheer numbers.

So tell me. Why is it that when the topic of welfare is raised, it’s considered to be a black thing? They’re not after Black America, They’re after White America. Playing on ignorance and bigotry.

Getting White America to vote against there own interest. You think the country is in the crapper now? Just wait. I am!!!

By the way, those stats were from the 2010 U.S. Census. Just in case some troll tries to differ.

  33. WM Says:

Damn, I’m so tired of you niggers playing the race card. Really? This is about race? How about our country going down the tubes? We can no longer be divided. We have to save our nation!

  34. TC Says:

I don’t think that it is the RNC that is dissing blacks. I see it as the other way around. Why join a party that demands that you work for what you get?

I would think if you’re a black person at the Republican National Convention you would be treated like a rock star.

No kidding. The movers and shakers of the Repub’s want blacks soooo bad. Any minorities really. Young black women? Roll out the red carpet. I dunno, maybe not, but probably so.

I think you niggers would see the light and come on over.

I know I could use a shoe shine or my grassed mowed.

  35. SK Says:

Of course it’s not about race…and I totally agree with you. I’m just responding to all the talk of there are no blacks at the Republican convention.

They have the perception that Republicans don’t care about them. I’m saying I believe it is the opposite. If they would just come over to the light they would be well received! hehe

  36. Paul Says:

If people stop talking about racism… is it going away. If people allow themselves one full year to stop talking about racism…. will it go away?

Being racist is one thing, but acting like it don’t exist is on a whole different level.

  37. Langley Says:

Racism, racism, racism, racism, racism, racism, racism this is the bigots that the republicans cater to to win their elections, so that they can continue to give their super rich sugar daddies their big TAX breaks

  38. Aldofo Says:

Jeb Bush showed his face. That family has caused so much destruction to this country and to the world.

  39. Bo Says:

Niggers don’t think, they just vote for other niggers.

  40. Nora Says:

Racism is very alive… my friend. I don’t know ANY racists that vote Democrat… but I know TOO MANY that voted for Bush three times.

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/08/30/michael-tomasky-on-paul-ryan-s-convention-speech-and-his-web-of-lies.html

oh baby, love the line Daily Beast threw in under his video and I get it, to the indoctrinated this dude does look like a ‘nice young man’ (with a deep understanding that he delivers one liner lies very well, it’s no wonder he’s a gOp pick for veep)…my fave line(s)from DB is this, ‘Analysis of the fact that Ryan can lie the way he does requires the skills of a psychologist. All I can say is that we’re in new territory—a Republican trying to own a Democratic issue, and doing so on the basis of a couple of lies so blatant that he’s practically saying to the Democrats and the media: “Fuck you, come and get me. You can’t touch me.”

Well, Dems (and undecided’s, who are you this election?) as DB also says, ‘So the Democrats have to raise their game. They’ve never had to encounter this kind of buttery demagoguery before.’ Buttery LSOS demagoguery, indeed.

    Luv, Zen Lill

  42. Michelle Obama Says:

I’ve learned to shrug off what Barack’s opponents say about him. We know who he really is: a wonderful father and leader who’s in this because he wants to make a difference in people’s lives.

But not everyone knows him as you and I do. And because of the nonstop negative ads the other side is running against him, we’ll have to work even harder to remind folks who Barack really is.

Tonight’s fundraising deadline is one of the most important we’ll face together. I hope you’ll take the chance to show you’ve got Barack’s back — chip in $5 or more before midnight.

Campaigns are never easy, and we’re lucky to have supporters like you by our side.

The other side is outspending us, and they’re stepping up their attacks. But we’ll be standing strong, thanks to the support of nearly 3 million people who are helping win this election the right way.

What we do between now and midnight is going to play a big part in making that happen, so please pitch in whatever you can before then:

Cut and paste this link: https://donate.barackobama.com/Midnight-Deadline

    As always, thank you.

    Michelle

  43. Social Butterfly Says:

I made a campaign contribution to Obama. I hope every here will consider doing the same.

One thing though, when I tried to pay this little blurb below came up. I don’t understand how this is relevant if I am making the contribution from my own bank account.

“Federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in an election cycle.”

I could only contribute $100 today but I was still forced to put this in before my payment would be processed. Can someone explain why this was necessary?

    /SB

  44. Nate Says:

SB, while the STARK of the SC has granted unlimited donations by corporations, it still requires the individual to report what they give because there is a limit a private individual can give.
