Paul Ryan: Rape Is Just Another Method Of Contraception
Posted by Michelle Moquin on August 28th, 2012
Good morning!
I saw this interview last week and I thought I spoke about it – but perhaps not. In either case it is worth a second mention, and perhaps for some, a first attention.
Paul Ryan Said Something That Should Force Him Off the Ticket, But You Probably Didn’t Hear About It
Last week, Paul Ryan gave an interview in which, defending his position that there should be no excuses for abortion, he referred to rape as a “method of conception.”
Wow, right? Talk about a benign euphemism. Rape –RAPE! – is now a “method of conception.” You know, like love-making, just without the love.
There could be no greater testament to the utter abdication of responsibility by what passes for a “news” media in America in 2012 than that, despite the grotesquerie of this cavalierly callous comment, chances are better than good that this is the first you’re hearing of it.
Here, watch it – and try to figure out why this has gotten NO MAINSTREAM MEDIA play (not even here at the Huffington Post) despite it being, to my mind, a far more offensive remark than Todd Akin’s imbecilic blurt of last weekend. What, are we tired of stupid remarks about rape now, so Ryan gets a free pass?
Given the demands for Akin’s resignation from a mere Senate race when his musings on “legitimate rape” were publicized, what do you imagine the reaction would be if people were as familiar with VP wannabe Ryan’s stunning statement? Might there be a cacophony of outrage? Might there be calls for his resignation from the ticket? Might there be a focus on how fundamentally oblivious these people who would make our laws are to not just women’s but humans’ rights and dignity? Sure, there might, but then of course people would have to have heard about it.
According to the man who would be the proverbial heartbeat away from the White House, and who in any event would — given Romney’s utter hollowness — have an inordinate influence on the judicial appointments that will determine how much freedom our children get to live under, RAPE = “METHOD OF CONCEPTION.” And yet, unless you’re a frequenter of one of a dozen or so lefty blogs — or my friend on Facebook — you probably knew nothing about it.
I truly despair for the country my 14-year-old daughter is inheriting. That a remark this intensely revealing of the danger posed by this ticket can go basically unreported is as nauseating to me as the quote itself.
**********
Readers: Ryan is a sick man. Girls…girls girls…this is your time to switch party lines, and vote in support of women – the Romney/Ryan ticket cares less about women, more than you want to know or discover. Come on over before it is too late.
Anything to say? Thoughts? Blog me.
Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. Just read an article about Akin claiming breast milk will cure homosexuality, can these people get anymore absurd? How can any sane person vote this way??
Larry, good to hear you’re alive and well and about the ladies, I’m sorry to hear all the pretty ones are in slavery of one form or another, unwanted marriage or prostitution, ugh. You, however, can still take in the sights ; ) have fun, stay safe and we’ll catch you here again soon.

Let Go of Embarrassing Moments
When you make a social faux pas—like running into an old friend and momentarily forgetting his name—are you quick to feel embarrassed?
An awkward display—looking down at your feet, nervously touching your face or blushing—might make you feel publicly humiliated.
But there’s a silver lining.
A recent study suggests that people who feel and look embarrassed tend to be more “prosocial” (meaning that they’re caring, compassionate, empathetic and concerned about the feelings of others) and more generous. To top it all off, they’re also viewed as more trustworthy by others!
BEING EMBARRASSED ISN’T A BAD THING
The next time you commit a “party foul,” so to speak, here’s why it’s OK to look embarrassed—and not overanalyze the incident in your head for the next three days (or for the rest of your life!).
In one experiment, adults were asked to imagine themselves in situations that might elicit embarrassment (such as being naked in a bedroom and discovering that the shades are open) and to indicate how embarrassed they would feel in such situations. They also completed questionnaires that helped researchers estimate how prosocial and generous they tended to be.
Researchers found that people who reported a greater tendency to be embarrassed were more likely to be prosocial and generous.
In another experiment, adults were shown videos of two highly embarrassed people and two minimally embarrassed people. They were then asked to rate how trustworthy each person was. Observers expressed more willingness to trust subjects who were highly embarrassed.
DON’T BEAT YOURSELF UP
I asked Matthew Feinberg, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford University in California, and lead author of the study while he was a PhD candidate at University of California, Berkeley, why people who tend to become embarrassed might be considered more trustworthy by others. His hypothesis is that embarrassment is seen as a nonverbal apology or a gesture of appeasement.
In other words, if you feel regretful enough about something you’ve done to feel embarrassed, you must be a caring person, right?
So if you’re in an embarrassing social situation, what should you do? Dr. Feinberg said, “Let yourself react the way that you normally react when you’re embarrassed—you’re going to feel uneasy in that moment no matter what, and that’s OK.”
It’s perfectly fine to look at the ground or touch your face, for example. Dr. Feinberg added that it’s also OK to blush—not that you could stop it!—because, he suspects, that will also make you look like one of the good guys.
What you might want to change, however, is how you feel about the incident in the minutes, hours, days and weeks that follow, he advised. If you’re anything like me, then you stress about embarrassing events long after they’re over.
This study shows that rather than beat yourself up, you should instead pat yourself on the back…because if anything, your embarrassment will have made people perceive you in a more positive light.

When asked on CNN to text what they thought of Mitt Romney, those comments that said Romney was either the exceptional business man that we need to solve the government’s problems or he was the lessor of two evils were obviously from white america.
But for me the telling one is the one that was saying he was voting for the “lessor of two evils.” It is plain to see that he meant Obama was the greater evil. For most of my male white relatives Obama is the epitome of “Evil.”

Thanks Michelle for the initials. Needless to say, I love it! We are preparing for you to come to live with us. I understand your reasoning for wanting to wait a bit longer. I will be sending you the classified codes to use for transportation purposes. Harris like Anonz doesn’t believe in commercial transportation, so you will need pilots, chauffeur, etc codes. All will be explained in the forth coming email. I am using this medium for two reasons:
1. So you know that it is okay to say certain thinks via your blog, if my email is down because it is being recoded.
2. To let you know to expect an email of some importance. I will get back to you here if you do not reply as requested in the email.
We are in the middle of switching email codes for the girls. They are teenagers and therefore no amount of insisting on security is going to make them share their private emails. So while we are upgrading 13 different security codes mine isn’t being attended to. As a consequence, I am using the blog to write to you.
If your email comes back, you may have to rewrite in generalities on the blog to get to me until my security code is updates. Sorry to be such trouble.
We are fully aware of your circumstances so Patience is the order of the day here. But a short visit wouldn’t hurt. You could always say you took a vacation somewhere in the States and allow us to bring here for a few days. Give me the dates and we will work out the accommodations.
I listened to and read that statement by Ryan. Over here many are quoting other sources that are defending him by saying that he didn’t say “rape is just another method of contraception.” They quote him saying, “the method of conception doesn’t change the definition of life.”
Yes, that is exactly what he said, but that certainly says that for him his stance is that if rape is the method of conception the woman still has a life inside her and therefore she gets NO abortion.
This is way closer to “rape is just another method of contraception,” than the lie they come up with when they say Obama said, ““If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that.”
Yet, if you google that quote, you will see many of the white boy’s main stream media outlets listing that as Obama’s exact quote, and that Obama meant that You didn’t build that business. They are not bashful about aiding and abetting the Right in furthering their lie about what Obama actually said or meant.
But none will make the obvious connection with the only logical extension one can arrive at from a person that says conception means NO abortion and then ends with “the method of conception doesn’t change the definition of life,” other than he has concluded that rape is just another method of conception.
Unless of course it is said by a white man. Then we will have to jump through all kinds of logic hoops to find another interpretation.
This reminds me of (#29Britana Says: August 28th, 2012 at 12:38 am
So Much For Respecting The Office of the President:) examples of the hypocrisy and double standard white america uses when Obama is the subject.
There is no need for their old doctrine of “Respect The Office of the Presidency, if not the man” when the man is black.
Or, like trying to mislead the country and the rest of the world that Romney leads substantially when it comes to getting the “male” vote in America. When the truth is that they know that his ONLY substantial lead is with the white BOY vote not the Collective male vote in America.
Hypocrisy and Lies are the tools of the white media in America. It always has been and it always will be. They will do anything to maintain their status as America’s Affirmative Action Beneficiaries.

Alien1, most aliens I know are not okay with their humans having multiple partners. They bond the same way humans do. Otherwise what would the human experience be?

Ryan’s exact quote to the question by WJHL reporter Josh Smith, “Specifically where you stand when it comes to rape, and when it comes to the issue of should it be legal for a woman to be able to get an abortion if she’s raped?”
Ryan’s reply was: “I’m very proud of my pro-life record, and I’ve always adopted the idea that, the position that the method of conception doesn’t change the definition of life,” Ryan explained. “But let’s remember, I’m joining the Romney-Ryan ticket. And the president makes policy.”
Unless I went brain dead Ryan is saying that getting pregnant by a rape means you have conceived and he is against you getting an abortion once you have conceived. That means he will force a woman to have the conception from a rape. That is perfectly clear to anyone unless they are a LSOS supporter of Ryan or his position, means RAPE IS JUST ANOTHER CONCEPTION.
How is that different from anything the other assholes are saying out there about rape? It is not unless you are a white boy and you want to prevent the black guy from taking advantage of that stupid white boy. The plight of women and the country can go to hell as far as the white boy is concerned. All that matters is they get that black man out of the White House so the name will have meaning to them again.

What sort of position is “I believe all abortions are murder and should be treated that way under the law… but I’m a team player, so I’m not going to worry about it on this ticket”?
August 28th, 2012 at 11:49 am
His perspective isn’t terribly important, because he’d only be vice president and Romney isn’t inclined to be as extreme as Ryan is.
“Vote for us. I may be a raving loon, but he’s not.”
August 28th, 2012 at 11:50 am
Personally, I think that the view Paul Ryan has on this subject is more internally consistent. The only problem, of course, being that it’s incredibly cold-hearted to the point of being non-human.
August 28th, 2012 at 11:50 am
He has a point. From the fetus’ perspective, the circumstances of its conception are totally irrelevant.
And I read an interesting observation. Rape is the only crime where we lock up the criminal, but execute an innocent.
August 28th, 2012 at 12:05 pm
John, you are such an incredible asshole that I had to stop work to reply to your callous remark. I hope you get raped so you can get a taste of the horror.
So for you it is okay to force a woman to have the child of a rapist. I pity the woman that didn’t abort you pathetic ass. You are one of the main reasons a woman needs the option to abort turds.
Debbie
August 28th, 2012 at 12:05 pm
This has been Ryan’s position from the outset. He’s co-sponsored legislation with Akin to that effect. To go back on his record now would make him look as disingenuous on this issue as Romney has been.
August 28th, 2012 at 12:09 pm
John, positions like that only make sense if you adhere to the strictly religious viewpoint that a soul is called forth at the instant of conception. In that, as Franklin notes, Ryan is at least internally consistent.
But his ideas contradict everything we actually observe about fetal development. I can’t tell Ryan (or you, or anyone) to hold different religious beliefs, but neither can you expect the law of the land to reflect your religious opinion.
If you think abortion is wrong, don’t have one. Of course, being that you are a man, you can easily pontificate from upon high. How about if the rule was if you get raped by a man you HAVE to become his bitch?

When I saw my nephew being born, when he was laid on the table to get his umbillical cord cut, i saw a blue light clear as day go into his chest and light up his little body. No one can tell me that life doesn’t truly begin at birth.
August 28th, 2012 at 3:46 pm
John, you act as though the woman involved in your cute little scenario is just an incubator or a vessel for sperm (wanted or unwanted) living solely for the purpose of developing babies (unwanted and totally unasked for entry, too, don’t forget). I won’t rail on you the way I was going to bc someone else did it for me. Be a raped woman for a day/week and the you come back and tell us all about your limited belief system…
ON the flip, I overheard someone say ‘a rapist visiting a child he didn’t want, who’d want THAT, you’d think that alone would be a deterent for rape’, hmmm, OK, twisted man logic in there somewhere, but lets expound on that, if the woman has to carry that rapists baby bc ‘no matter how the manner of conception’ (Paul Ryan) and he gets ‘parental’ rights, why not make him raise the unwanted child, after all, no one ever asked for his sperm donation to begin with…nor a baby, so you want to ‘visit’ the child so bad – how about YOU raise it yourself? You can call in your own mother and handle the situation. If the ‘mother’ chooses to keep the baby and manages to love the child why does she need to be reminded of the horrible man who put it there, I can see parental rights visits if someone has value, a rapist is 3 below plant life.

The myth that rape does not cause pregnancy has been circulating for centuries. The legal position that pregnancy could nullify claims of rape was around as early as the 13th century in Britain. This bit of absurdity seems to be connected to an ancient belief that a woman had to have an orgasm in order to conceive. Thus, the thinking went if a woman was pregnant she must have been a willing partner.

Paul Ryan must be some sort of automaton. No Human Being could be so egotisical and without empathy. And talk about MORONIC, he certainly takes the cake, as does Romney in this category. These two have to be the very worst that this nation has to offer. W.C. Fields said “there’s a sucker born every minute” a vote for any GOP candidate will prove him right.
Even if Obama wins, the GOP will roadblock his every move, like last term, just to make him look bad. I have seen more adult behavior among preschool kids, at least they learn to share and cooperate. American Politics is a complete joke and the whole world is laughing at us. Me, I do not find this situation to be very funny.

Hey, who’s stupid. Did you hear that nigger arthur davis kissing this white ass trying desperately to switch to the winning side.

Oh, boy Robert, rt. bet that got your goat.

Standard Catholicism, insisting that everyone have the exact same belief system they do. This is definitely a case of forcing a religious belief on other individuals.
Republicans: shrinking the government small enough to fit in your vagina.
August 28th, 2012 at 7:53 pm
George WN, you are without a doubt the type of citizen that this country needs to be rid of. Racism and bigotry are the last things we need “you” with the state this world is in. I say “Fuck You” and your I’m better than others attitude. Your white nation are a bunch of sissies looking for thier own set of balls and brains, but they have and will find neither.
Yes, your white nation is definetly afraid to find that you are not superior to any group of OTW’s.
Did I tell you to go fuck yourself? Well, I am telling you again. Fuck off you “afraid of your own shadow” coward.
August 28th, 2012 at 8:10 pm
Fucked that George,WN. I am watching the same Chris Christi that you are. As he said we the sons of the men who made this country are what needs to rise to take back our country.
What I hate seeing is the token niggers they keep spotlighting, as if we need the niggers or wet or muds to take back our country.
All we need to do is to take hold of our bitches and tell them what we want them to do. Take your asses to the polls and support your man. And then get out of his way and let him lead this country back to the great country it was.
That nigger has to go.

I am a white man that is proud of his country and race most of the time. But I live in Pennsylvania and I am disgraced by my race’s tactics to stop other races from voting.
I grew up watching the South prevent blacks from voting. I never imagined we would be doing it here up North to the blacks.
I see the likes of Tom Brokaw and David Gregory being at best apologetic about the differences between the two parties.
I am a republican, but I know when I am being lied to. I know the “trickle down theory” does not work. I take pride in being white and frankly, I would like to see a white man in the office of President.
I would not however vote for any white man just to get rid of the black man. I will not vote for Obama, but neither will I vote for Romney. I am sitting this one out.
My wife voted for McCain the last election. This one she has made it very clear that she will vote for Obama because she can not abide the stance the republicans are taking on birth control.
We have 4 daughters and two sons. All are republicans. None agree with the policy of no abortions for any reason.
My two sons say they may sit this one out also. They don’t like Mitt Romney, but they can’t see themselves voting for Obama.
My daughter are split three for Obama and one for Romney. She doesn’t visit much anymore because of all the rancor that arises when politics come up.
Their mother goes into a rage when Romney’s only supporter in our household starts endorsing Romney. She screams that if abortions were retroactive she would abort the mindless baby bag so it could not reproduce.
My daughter loves her mother and cries as she flees our home with her other three sisters yelling that she should hurry and get back to ass kissing that neanderthal she calls a husband.
Politics was great for me. Now it is pure hell. I want my family back. You all read this please think before you destroy this family.

President Obama could have done bigger things if he had true partners in the house and senate. The problem with the Democrats is that they will eat their own unlike retpublicants.
I too will vote for President Obama, unfotunately I reside in a blue state so my vote won’t really count but I have family in FL, IN and WI amd they and I will be working very hard to help reelect the President for a second term.
Sorry Romney/Ryan try your luck in 2016 but I’m hoing that Hillary will run so I can have the pleasure of votingthe first women into the highest office. Obama 2012 and Hillary 2016.
August 28th, 2012 at 9:23 pm
For me its simpler than “I like winning” that gets into competition and that is what destroys the “process of doing something”. Obama inspires me with his intelligence, his courtesy, and his idealism. When I listen to Romney, I am completely bored!
August 28th, 2012 at 9:24 pm
I agree, “the massive tax cuts; the empowerment of corporations as political donors” happened because Republicans won.
And if they win more, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, etc will be lost as well.
And I’m already scared at the idea, that they think they can continue with their agenda – despite the public outcry against it.
Granted, the Republican/TP’ers have had a “public” change of heart.
But, they’ve been on this path for so long, to see them do an about-face is unbelievable. And I don’t believe it, at all. Not for one second.
August 28th, 2012 at 9:26 pm
Obama essentially made one mistake: assuming Republicans would act like ladies and gentlemen and do what Americans expected elected officials in Congress & Senate to do…COMPROMISE!
Instead, Obama encountered the most recalcitrant gauntlet of obstructionists ever seen in American politics. The GOP, funded by super-wealthy individuals, are interested in only one thing: maintaining the status quo where obscene profits remain virtually guaranteed.
Abortion and other wedge issues? Immaterial hogwash, other than their ephemeral value motivating people incapable of understanding the Big Picture…the one that everyone patriotically stands behind when a clear enemy reveals itself in the most obvious ways. (Example: OBL and his desperate, ragtag army of religious zealots.)
Those who wish to replace Obama are in it for one purpose: consolidate a stranglehold on what they quietly worked so hard to achieve when they had “W the Oblivious” in office, with Cheney persuasively pulling his strings.
Now that Obama has had nearly four years to learn the ropes one thing is certain…he won’t make the same mistake again. He won’t underestimate how rabid the GOP’s infiltrators are and how much sway they have over moderates.
Once would-be plutocrats spend their billions attempting to extricate Obama from the WH, they’ll have to go back to finding new ways to grow their wealth. Since they can’t do it all by themselves, they’ll actually have to hire people to help them.
Honest half-black guy stays; lying white guy goes, well, who cares.
August 28th, 2012 at 9:29 pm
I was elated when the President won in 08. I thought a new day had dawned and the country could get on the right track of recovering from the persistent hangover brought on by Reaganomics.
Alas, the Republicans controlled the House and peed on the parade. No sensible legislation could pass through the tightly woven net of their partisan delusion that government is evil: heck, by their very obstructionism, they nearly convinced us all that government was not only evil, but stupid and ineffectual as well. How many times have they cut off the noses of collective America to spite our face? How much good and positive legislation died in committees or on the floor due to their ignorant instransigence?
I am voting for Mr. Obama again because to vote against him is to vote for the welfare of the rich over the poor and the middle class; the pseudo moral concerns of a deluded minority over the health and welfare of women; and corrupt bottom lines of Big Business over the very real concerns of the majority of us who work and pay taxes just to scrape by in this country ruled by the rich.
This election is not about winning so much as it is a debate on who will run our lives: a stingy, grasping and morally deluded minority; or the great majority who value personal rights, empathy for others, and human rights over profit.
Vote Democractic.
