The Floodgates Are Already Open

Good morning!

Since so many of you jumped in on the “contraceptive conversation,” I just can’t help but continue with it since it is still such a hot topic here and in the news…and in my opinion it should be. This is a big deal.

In case there is any question of which contraceptives are going to be blocked from being covered by Hobby Lobby and which aren’t, this video will tell all. I can tell you one thing, it isn’t good news for us girls….and now it looks like it won’t be good for gays.

From The Rachel Maddow Show:

‘Hobby Lobby’ case already opening floodgates to discrimination

Rachel Maddow reports on how the so-called “narrow” Hobby Lobby ruling by the Supreme Court is already broadening to include all types of contraception and is being used to argue that anti-gay discrimination is justified by “religious freedom.”

Readers: What do you have to say now? Blog me.

Beth: A girlz is a female, regardless of age, who has adopted the philosophy that she is her own master and she accepts the responsibilities that goes with the philosophy. And there is a bigger picture. But you’d have to be a girlz to be exposed to it.

Peace baby.

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. 1. Susie Says:

Did you see those idiot white women celebrating a man’s right to use religion to determine a woman’s fate? How exactly is that different from the Koran?

  2. Debra Says:

    “I didnt know the Constitution included a right (5+ / 0-)
    to free contraception.”

Another of the right wing douchebags, er, commentators just said it again a few min ago on CNN. I dont remember his name. One of the roving middle aged farts you see all the time.

No one corrected him. Neither the anchor or the other commentator.

  3. Irene Says:

It is no coincidence that most of S.T.A.R.K. catholic. The Catholic church is known for its tolerance of discrimination by one group over another. The catholic church stood by and said nothing when 6,000,000 jews were murdered by the Germans.

That same church stood by during two decades of rape, murder and incest practiced by white men on black men and women. They stood by and still accept discrimination by whites against blacks and other minorities.

The catholic church is a nesting place for pedophile priests and racist white men.

  4. Becca Says:

Funny how it’s only ‘conservative fundamentalist Christian’ religious beliefs that must be accommodated and granted exemptions, but not Islam or Buddhism or even progressive sects of Christianity.

Most of us knew LGBTs were next on the “but we WANNA discriminate against them!” list. I give it less than a year before we have corporate owners allied with newly formed churches demanding to be allowed to discriminate on the basis of race.

  5. Sandy Says:

There will be no end to the fallout from this SCOURT ruling which allows businesses to discriminate against others because of their Corporate Citizen “religious” prejudices. The Christian Right Koch Brothers-type billionaires know that Jews murdered Christ and Catholics belong to a satanic cult.

  6. Cl Says:

A shocking development! It’s not like Justice Ginsburg called it in advance, is it?

  7. Sergio Says:

WASHINGTON, DC–The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that Roman-owned
pizza chain Little Caesar’s was within its rights to place Christian
employees in an arena and then unleash starved, vicious lions and
lionesses upon them. The court cited religious freedom as its guiding
principle. The 5-to-4 ruling opened the door to potentially thousands of
Christian Little Caesar employees nationwide being immediately fed to
the top predators of the African savannah.

Little Caesar’s argued that the persecution of Christians and the
feeding of them to ravenous big cats was a “deeply held” religious
belief, that the continued survival of the roughly 6,000 Christian
employees, as well as the fact that they remained on company payroll,
imposed a “substantial financial burden” on their religious liberty.

The 5 conservative Justices agreed. Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr, the author of the majority opinion, wrote:
while it is debatable that some harm may come to any
Christians fed to a lion or lioness, there is certainly demonstrable
harm being done to these animals that are denied the tasty,
nutrient-rich Christians that their diet requires

A Christian employee of the company, Ed Broyles, expressed dismay at
the decision. “They’re gonna fuckin’ feed me to a motherfucking lion?
But I only ever go to church on like Easter!”, he said, shaking visibly
and sweating. “Jesus H Christ on a cracker, I’ve got a fucking family!”

Little Caesar owner and CEO, Little Caesar himself, applauded the
ruling. When asked how soon his company would begin killing off its
Christian employees he responded, “Carpe Diem.”

  8. Richard Says:

Ahhh, I love the smell of imminent religious war in the morning!!! The theocrats will not stop until the land is littered with the bodies of their heathen adversaries.

  9. Susan Says:

IMHO, perhaps the only way to reverse this stupid HL decision is by another lawsuit.
“This verdict is wildly controversial as a piece of legal reasoning—but its scientific logic is wanting, as well. The contraceptive drugs and devices at issue in the case, after all, do not cause abortion, as Hobby Lobby Stores, the company at the center of the case, claimed.”

Since they do not cause abortion, someone affected by the decision could sue claiming the reasons they made this decision are false and as a result dangerous if denied to someone who requires them. Just a thought about where one goes now.

  10. Sandy Says:

Susan#9, Impeachment would be a better course when we get back the House. Alito, Scalia and their pet Thomas have been completely irresponsible if not borderline crazy in the case of Scalia. Their written judgments don’t follow any logic or never offer clear definitions of the laws they sight. Once they are impeached, all the verdicts where their votes were the determining factor can be thrown out as being flawed.

  11. Lucy Says:

Sandy#10, I agree but I don’t see it coming not with the right the way it is nor the left the way they are.

  12. Victor Says:

The way I see it unless one of those bastards die, we are fucked.

  13. Nora Says:

I hate to say this but my family are mostly bigots and racists. They are full of a a spiteful, resentful hate of anyone and everyone who is in any way different from them.

I have one asian friend and they make my life miserable because of it. If god has made us whites so much better than the other races, why do we have to spend so much time dissing the other races.

  14. Tina Says:

Beyonce is talented, popular, wealthy, and BLACK. The GOP hates that so, so much.

It’s still 1968 with those guys and their media outlets including Fox, WSJ, and Rush. They keep going back to the Nixon/Agnew race-baiting.

  15. Michael Says:

What is the deal with Beyonce? Ann Coulter referenced “the people who want you to have to listen to Beyonce” a couple of days ago when she was talking about the corrosive effects of soccer fandom on all thats good and decent and holy in the US.
I dont even LIKE Beyonce. But I have to wonder WTF?

  16. Lacy Says:

Michael, #15, It might have something to do with the fact she raked in nearly a quarter of a billion last year from her concerts, etc. Something like 2.5 million a concert for nearly a hundred concerts.

I saw something about her pushing Oprah out of the top spot as “most powerful media figure” So she’s the new “it” girl when it comes to piles of cash. And if there’s anything Republicans worship more than cash it’s more cash. And she friends with the Obamas. Is there anything more damning?

  17. Georgia Says:

Bill O’riley is always bringing up Beyoncé. I have no clue why they keep saying her name but it’s weird as shit!

  18. Mellisa Says:

What war on women? They depend on government because they’re not depending on their husbands. This stuff writes itself. If Liberals hated America, we’d vote Republican.

  19. Brenda Says:

Those idiot white women with the signs asking for religious freedom remind me of those four idiot white women on fox who allowed a man to say no “women can work and support themselves before marriage”

  20. Becky Says:

What kind of horrible women are the republicans talking about?

The ones that need contraception, health care, and they love to talk about equal pay.

I mean, I could almost get past their needing contraception and health care, but talking about equal pay?

    How dare they?

  21. L6/\4 Says:

War will probably be the result if the TAO doesn’t remove their regent Xatia from the Rlon sector of the Milkyway. She refuses to compromise and insist that we who have ruled there for 3 million years give up our dominion over those who obey us as their lords and guardians.

We brought prosperity to that region. We have been looking at earthlings and believe that it is a planet that cries for the leadership we can bring to it.

The humans are wasting the planet’s meat producing potential. It’s time we agreed to herd them like the beasts they are. We could hardly be more brutal to them than they are to themselves.

  22. Taplo Says:

The thing is we’ve seen ample evidence that things haven’t changed much in the past half century. The whites in this country are still divided into those that are out right bigots or racists, those that look the other way when those bigots and or racists act out their hatred, those that deny they are aware of whites being mostly bigots and racists, those that claim they as whites have not benefited by their race’s setting them selves up to be America’s Affirmative Action Beneficiaries for the past 200 years, and those few, very few whites who acknowledge what their race is about which is maintaining the status quo.

  23. Daisy Says:

I don’t think it was a slam on “single black women.” The reference to Beyonce was simply an attempt at humor via referencing her song “Single Ladies.” It may have seemed to us like a flat-footed dud, but — as evidenced by the whole panel ROTF — that’s about as funny as conservatives get.

  24. Yasmen Says:

    More ridiculous unsubtle Fox race-baiting.

Judging from dowload and track sales, Beyonce’ listeners number in the tens of millions and span generations, genders, and geographies.

HRC could do worse than to “pander” to such a numerous demographic.

  25. Elly Says:

Daisy#23, It’s Both. It might have been inspired by a reference to a song title, but it’s broadcast by Fox because it portrays one of the richest, hardest working people in entertainment as a “welfare queen” like all Black women obviously are.

  26. Janet Says:

Daisy#23, The idiot doesn’t even know that the song …… makes a statement against unmarried co-habitation etc. “If you want it put a finger on it” should be something cons really go for.

  27. Brandon Says:

Count this married man as a Beyonce voter too. If we’re going for really stupid labels for people who think humans should have rights, and that corporations are not actually people, sign me up.

  28. Wren Says:

damn fox and co. all to hell and stay there….. They managed to slur at least THREE groups at once:

    Hillary voters

    Minority women

    Young women in general

…dependent on the government? For EARNED benefits? And Beyoncé was married and then had her baby….

Vote the lying secessionists out. Whatever the Foxteapublicans say, the opposite is the truth.

  29. Brittany Says:

Michelle the R. in your S.T.A.R.K., Roberts is not the idea guy for the Tea Party, but he’s more like Ed Sullivan. You want guns, god, money in politics, women in their place, etc. and he will make it a really big shew.

Roberts loves cases about Hillary, as CU in 2010 (which was really about Obama’s reelection in 2012), now Hobby Lobby about Hillary’s election in 2014.

  30. Fiona Says:

Felafel O’Reilly was on Beyonce’s case last month, saying that she is inspiring young women to have children out of wedlock, even though Mrs. Carter is obviously, spectacularly married.

  31. Mable Says:

Janet#26, That would be “a ring on it” “It” of course being your finger.

  32. Mike Says:

The poor whites in America support the 1% and the republican party because they see themselves not as part of the exploited 98%, but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

  33. Bill Says:

O’Reilly is just another pencil dick white boy obsessed with a fine Black woman.

  34. Juliette Says:

I have two nieces who are right wingers. An they watch FOX News. Both from a tiny town in Montana. Both high school dropouts who hate to read.

Both have various babies by various daddies, mostly out of wedlock.

Both are only out to use and con other people.

One is currently hooked up with a man I strongly suspect is a big time drug lord in Hawaii.

Both are in their early 20s and voting teabagger.

If you wonder who on earth are the women voting R who aren’t, say, 80 years old….there you go, two prime examples.

And no, nothing I say gets through to either one of them.

  35. Juanita Says:

The republicans are just stupid for the most part. Of course, No law says you have to be self-aware or altruistic or believe in equal entitlement to benefit from public assistance. Recall the Tea Partiers with absurd signage reading “Government, keep your hands off my Medicare?”

You could never convince these idiots that government gave the Medicare. They think it came with the Constitution. It seems L. Ron Hubbard was right when he said “THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN CONTROL PEOPLE IS TO LIE TO THEM. You can write that down in your book in great big letters.”

  36. Farah Says:

Julliette#34, it sounds like they needed or need women’s health care and prenatal care and childrens health insurance. And they might need contraceptives too.

They should be supporting the Democratic platform. Instead it appears they are Fox Noise fans. Are their parents teabaggers too? As I am always surprised when I hear that young people like them are watching cable news at all?

Who is most influential, supporting their bagger views..probably boyfriends, peers?

  37. Vera Says:

I agree with you Michelle about the women on fox, the women flanking the guy not Steve
Ducey (Jessie Waters. They listen to him talking incredibly condescendingly about women and just chat on about HRC. I hope they’re well paid for their toeing the Fox party line.

  38. Ursula Says:

Michelle, you nailed it on your comment about the fox sellout women. The were much worse than that whiny little eunuch that fox trotted out to spew this nonsense. They just sat there and giggled appreciatively and crossed and uncrossed their legs for the notorious pleasure of Roger Ailes.

They bugged me far more as they sold out women for their own personal wealth accumulation.

  39. Alycedale Says:

My two cents: Men, the reason we ‘love to talk about equal pay’ is because we aren’t getting it.

  40. Anonymous Says:

Hige sceal þe heardra, heorte þe cenre, mod sceal þe mare, þe ure mægen lytlað

  41. 2i7//9 Says:

That may be, but if you allow that tropical storm to hit Guam, the Emperor may discover you are the culprit and there will be a price to pay.
