The Only Thing That Matters

Good Morning!

Screen Shot 2016-09-26 at 9.28.34 PM

Bizarre. There’s no other word to describe it. Ok, maybe there is but that is the first word that came to my mind. I’m sure you watched the debate. These are my rants and thoughts in no particular order:

Trump lied over and over.

Lester Holt had to hold his tongue and that bugged me. But really, there was nothing he could do. There wasn’t much Clinton could do either. Trump lied so much that we would never have gotten to the issues if we just talked about how much Trump was lying, and called him out on it every single time.

But what really drove me insane was how many times Trump went overtime and Holt didn’t do anything! And how many times Trump interrupted!? Too many times to count. I kept saying out loud, “Lester, just interrupt the motherfucker and tell him to stop babbling and shut the fuck up so we can hear Clinton.” Yeah, I was frustrated. Ugh. My better side did not show up.

Trump was unprepared, incoherent, and completely incapable of answering any questions that gave us any idea of his plans. I learned absolutely nothing from him except that he is an insane, infantile, bully, and as we all know, a Lying Sack Of Shit. Please add your thoughts here too.

Trump claims Clinton is not presidential. And he is?! Trump is blatantly insane – did you catch his crazy demeanor? He was constantly in motion – drinking water, twitching, continuous face contortions, sniffing his nose, sighing, and pursing his lips, leaning in, outbursts, interrupting. Did I say interrupting? Got any more to add?

I’m embarrassed. Actually no, I’m not embarrassed. However, I would think anyone voting for him would be. He is not fit to be presidebt…oops president. Go back to reality TV  - That’s where you belong.

And did I mention Lies? LIES Lies lies…And people call Clinton a liar. Why are they not calling out Trump who lies ALL OF THE TIME? What about telling Clinton that she’s “not nice?” Hellooo…do you remember saying horrific things about women, OTW’s, not to mention your racist and sexist remarks? This is such typical republican hypocrisy, why would Trump be any different? His supporters aren’t either. They are more vitriolic and down on Clinton calling her a liar, evil…you name it. But they seem to give good ole Donald a pass on EVERYTHING.

Trump questions whether Clinton has stamina to be president. A sexist remark in my opinion. Clinton spent 11 hours testifying during the Benghazi hearings in Congress, +++…we all know Clinton has stamina. She’s proved it time and time again. What about his stamina? He couldn’t even last 90 minutes during the debate. By the end of the first hour he looked exhausted, dazed, and having a hard time focusing.

And he had the gaul to question Clinton’s temperament. Wha’at?? Need I go on? And I haven’t even said anything about the issues. This was the most bizarre (and frustrating) debate I have ever seen. There was so much weirdness and disconnectedness between the questions asked of Trump and his answers, and Lester…I’ll say it again…”Why didn’t you just Tell Trump to shut the fuck up?”

Sigh. I’m not saying anything about the debate that no one else didn’t notice, including the Trump supporters. Yes, Clinton crushed his ass. There is no doubt, he got trumped – she won. There was a few drop the mic moments, but the only people who noticed were Clinton supporters. I almost missed them myself because I was so distracted by Trump’s behavior.

You think she would be a shoo-in after this debate, right? Any logical person would see that. But logic doesn’t play here. I’d be surprised if the needle moved more than slightly to the left after this one. Sure some on the fence are now seeing the insanity of Trump but I wouldn’t keep my fingers crossed that many will. Why? Because no matter what happened during the debate it all boils down to this, something that he and his supporters all know:

If racism got in the way with what people wanted to do, Trump would be out.

If sexism got in the way with what people wanted to do, Trump would be out.

If having no qualifications to be president got in the way with what people wanted to do, Trump would be out.

If caring about what’s best for the country got in the way with what people wanted to do, Trump would be out.

If truth got in the way with what people wanted to do, Trump would be done. But…the truth is, Lies don’t matter. Truth never gets in the way with what people want to do. Racism doesn’t either. Sexism doesn’t either. Qualifications don’t either. And I’ll throw in logic too. Because it’s evident that people aren’t being logical about what’s best for the country or Trump would be done.

The truth is the only thing that matters is COLOR. In the end whites are going to vote color. They may be shouting the mantra “Make the Country great again,” but under their breath they’re saying “Keep the country white.”

That is the only logical reason that Trump is still in the running and why he is polling so close to Clinton.

And that is why Clinton is no shoo-in. If this truth scares you, then do something. I HOPE my sisters in this country wake up, woman-up and take their position and power. This election is no joke. It is a must that Clinton win. Oh…We do have our work cut out for us.

Shortly after his national-anthem protest became public, Colin Kaepernick offered withering assessments of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

And it’s safe his opinion hasn’t changed after watching part of the presidential debate between the candidates Monday night.

“To me, it was embarrassing to watch that these are our two candidates,” Kaepernick said. “Both are proven liars and it almost seems like they’re trying to debate who’s less racist. At this point — I was talking to one of my friends — you have to pick the lesser of two evils. But in the end, it’s still evil.”

Trump has suggested Kaepernick “find a country that works better for him,” which Kaepernick was asked about today.

“That’s a very ignorant statement that if you don’t agree with what’s going on here – if you want justice and liberty and freedom for all — that you should leave the country,” Kaepernick said. “He always says ‘Make America great again.’ Well, America has never been great for people of color. And that’s something that needs to be addressed. Let’s make America great for the first time.”

  2. Anonymous Says:

Actor and “Between Two Ferns” host Zach Galifianakis says he has no plans to bring Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on his hit show.

“No. That doesn’t interest me. Doing it the other way doesn’t interest me,” Galifianakis told the Los Angeles Times. “He’s the kind of guy who likes attention — bad attention or good attention. So you’re dealing with a psychosis there that’s a little weird.”
“The Hangover” star didn’t pull any punches talking about his feelings regarding the billionaire.

“I wouldn’t have somebody on that’s so mentally challenged. And you can print that.”

  3. Anonymous Says:

Even the Taliban doesn’t want the Doofus!

A Taliban spokesman says that after watching Monday’s debate, leaders of the group decided Republican nominee Donald Trump is a “non-serious” candidate.
Taliban leaders who were “very interested in watching” the US presidential debate took in the proceedings from a secret location. And it didn’t take them long to decide that one candidate was something of a joke.
“Trump … (says) anything that comes to his tongue,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told NBC News. “(He is) non-serious.”

  4. Zen Lill Says:

28 Louise your friend is undecided? That’s poop, while I agree with trump sounding like a kindergartener with ADD (no offense to 5 years old there) the further statement about Hilary being ‘mean, untrustworthy and downright evil’ tells you exactly who’s camp your pal is in. The ADD kindergartener, welcome to idiocracy If that occurs.

It took exactly 5 Minutes fr Donald to plug his new hotel in DC (what?!) and in 90 minutes he did that twice and threw in one for his palm beach club.

    My trump faves:
Strongest asset is his temperament, hmm, as he would say into the mic off turn and too man times when his panties got in a twist – ‘WRONG’
RE: race relations, his relations with African Americans has inproved in ‘the last little while’ (the last 10 minutes??)
400 lb person on a bed (excuse me, wtf?)
And ‘as far as the cyber’ … Oh should we just reboot our interwebs?!

Hilary’s lie, “Donald, it’s good to be here with you tonight’ – “WRONG”

I’m shaking my head, bc I heard on Bloomberg report about how many repubs think he won the debate. Um What channel were they watching??

    Luv, Zen Lill

  5. Lester Says:

Last nights debate was the most watched in history with approximately 80.9million people watching the debate live on 12 channels.
Those numbers do not include individuals who watched on C-SPAN, PBS or online

  6. Howard Says:

Michelle you nailed it. Color is the only thing that matters to most of my race. You see it when they work so hard to find fault with any unarmed black victim of the police.

I have been a republican all my 49 years of voting. But a while back my two daughters sat me down and said Daddy read this. It was one of your rants against Mr. Trump.

I decided to read more of your blog because my daughter who have taken over my business. I built it from a $15,000 G.I. loan in to $400 million dollar business. One which my two sons almost drove into bankruptcy.

Since my two daughters have had their 3 years, the business has totally bounced back and I am proud of the fact that they didn’t say anything negative about their brothers.

I have done my homework on you. I like what I have learned. You are a perfect role model for my sweet girls(sorry they will always be my little girls) as tough as they are they have hearts of pure gold.

Thank you for showing them a better way than I have. You have taught this ole dog a new trick.

  7. Lucy Says:

Anonymous#1, When someone says both Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump are the same, it says to me that that person is not just uniformed, he/she is stupid.

In NO way are they on equal footing. If Kaepernick said that then he needs to do some research and check the sources he has been using to get his facts about Hilary.

It is ignorant statements like that which keep the republicans in power because their followers do not care what they do as long as they vote color.

I tend to think that you are one of those LSOS republicans slinking onto this blog trying to dilute the democratic vote.

  8. Jiles Says:

    Jezebel#40 Says:

Wow! I was thinking the same thing.

  9. Henry Says:

Michelle, You write beautifully. There is nothing left out. Yes, this election is about white privilege. And white america will not accept anyone else at the table.

  10. Clark Says:

Thanks for telling us how you feel Michelle.

  11. Irene Says:

Yes, she did, Clark. Succinct, smart, and on the mark.

  12. Robert Says:

Serena Williams said it best concerning the attitude of blacks in a position to make a difference about these thugs with badges murdering unarmed black men.

“As Dr. Martin Luther King said, ‘There comes a time when silence is betrayal.’ I won’t be silent.”
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/serena-williams-vows-to-no-longer-remain-silent-about-police-brutality_us_57eacc00e4b024a52d2b298b?

  13. David Says:

The Charlotte PD has begun their smear campaign against Mr. Scott. They have drudged up everything they can find in his legal history.

However —- “What matters is what happened in those moments leading up to the trigger being pulled,” Bamberg said. “Mr. Scott was non-aggressive, had his hands by his side, appeared confused and, at the moment he was shot and killed, he was walking backwards. That’s what matters.”

  14. Loretta Says:

    Wonderful write Michelle.

  15. Sterling Says:

David#13, Always the spin dig and dig tell you can make them a bad guy. They forgot he was suspended in third grade for not staying in his seat. They weren’t even there for him. Officer left and got his vest and came back that’s how much of a threat he was. Who has time to do that. Needs to be some serious conversation on rules of engagement

  16. Lane Says:

There is a very real need to rein in some law enforcement officers so that we don’t continue our path toward a police state. This problem is so serious that it should be our number one domestic priority right now.

The longer we refuse to acknowledge it, much less take steps to stop it, the larger it will grow, making it ever more difficult to stop it. We must guard ourselves from the guardians.

There are many conservatives and/or 2nd amendment advocates that talk about “tyrannical government” and such, often arming themselves with multiple rifles, shotguns and hand guns, and tens of thousands of rounds to protect themselves from same.

Well, here’s your police state and tyrannical government staring you in the face. Will you, and so many others, ignore it simply because those currently suffering are a different color? Will you wait until the police state invades poor, then middle class, white neighborhoods?

Remember the words of Rev Niemoller “… by the time they [the Nazis] came for me, there was no one left to speak up.”

    #ICantBreathe music video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMLXb8L08wM

  17. Carlos Says:

I have seen police provide a pistol and holster after a shooting. Anyone willing to testify forces a life of hell everytime they go out into the streets. Not saying this is what happened here but these things must be considered and investigated.

  18. Charles Says:

So again the cops use excessive force (murder) on a man who was impaired by legal medications. For all we know, he didn’t even understand what the police were saying to him completely, or perhaps couldn’t process the commands that were being screamed at him rapidly, and of course there’s the fact that he was posing no threat and moving away from the officers non agressively.

I knew the smear campaign would begin as soon as it was realized that there was no compelling video evidence to prove whether the cop shot him or not. After all, guilty until proven innocent in so many cases. Very sad. Never should have happened and I still want to know where the damn tasers were!

  19. Lisa Says:

David#13, It is mainly to give their white comrades something to spew when they can’t justify murdering a black man.

His past is not relevant. The only thing that matters is if the police were justified in shooting him. The police are only supposed to use deadly force if they or someone else is in danger of death or serious bodily harm. Period.

  20. Gary Says:

In every police shooting of an unarmed black man The problem is the trigger happy history of so many cops.

Just a couple of days before you had the unarmed guy murdered in Tulsa. There have been so many documented cases of unjustified shootings and cases where police have tampered with evidence, that it is hard to take their command at face value without seeing clearly that there was a gun in his hand.

And why was he ordered out of the car in the first place if he was just sitting there and the cops were there for something else? And why did a cop wait until after the incident to turn on his body camera? Maybe the cops were not at fault, but not everything adds up.

  21. James Says:

The cops shout drop the gun,so we are to beleive they could clearly see the gun if that’s the case why is it not as visible on their body cams oh that’s right they did not turn them on untill after the shooting.

Would the police accept such as evidence from a civilian doubt it.

  22. Stephanie Says:

You nailed it David#13, The only relevant question, which has not been answered, is whether or not he had a gun and aimed it at the police prior to being shot.

Not one of these things that they are dregging up was known by the police when they killed him. So it’s all irrelevant unless you are attemtping to screw with the character of the victim.

Did they interview the exs of the cops that shot Mr. Scott to see what kind of backgrond they had? Do they dig into the backgrounds and publish negative information about people who aren’ killed by the politce? Not that I’ve seen. So why do it in this situation?

  23. Peter/Guam Says:

Hafa adai. An advocate for abuse survivors is urging victims to think twice before notifying Guam’s Catholic Church of abuse.

The Church has issued a statement encouraging people with knowledge of sexual abuse by clergy members to contact its abuse response co-ordinator.

This is after the passing of a bill lifting the statute of limitations for lawsuits against child sex abusers and private institutions that may have protected them.

Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests spokesperson, Joelle Casteix, said the law would give victims accountability.

But she said they should be wary of the church as it won’t want abuse exposed.

“Anytime anyone is abused do not call the Church, call law enforcement, because the Church will always try to protect themselves. Call the police, call a support group such as SNAP, call a lawyer. Don’t rely on the Church to do the right thing because they haven’t.”

Joelle Casteix also said the Church would throw a lot of money into fighting abuse cases.

  24. Larry Says:

Russian hackers calling themselves the “Fancy Bears” have published private medical records of top American athletes. They have done this in the hope of creating a doping scandal that would shame the athletes and discredit the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The Fancy Bears managed to publish medical records of Simone Biles and the tennis star Serena Williams. These records indicated that the two stars tested positive for banned substances either in the run up to the Olympics or during the games.

Simone Biles, the champion gymnast tested positive for methylphenidate during the Rio Olympics. The tennis star, Serena Williams tested positive for prednisone in June. Regardless of these scandalous allegations the two stars have been cleared by the WADA.

WADA declared that the two were not in violation of doping regulations.

The Agency sometimes allows athletes to use banned substances when there is a confirmed therapeutic need. The 19 year champion gymnast uses the drug as medication for a condition known as Attention deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) which she suffers from.

Serena used the anti inflammatory drug for six days in June.

The United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) and WADA both confirmed that the drugs had no effects on the results of events the athletes competed in. The

Fancy Bears did however manage to discredit WADA by demonstrating that the organisation was failing to protect the confidential information of athletes. To this, the agency made a public apology to the athletes affected.

  25. Sheila Says:

I liked this part of the analysis: Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump went head to head, and the results were especially ugly for Trump — he tried to backtrack on his taxes, lied about crime rates, and made numerous sexist remarks.

  26. Michelle Moquin's "A day in the life of…" » Blog Archive » Let’s not take that victory lap just yet Says:

[…] Howard: I so enjoyed reading your comments. Thank you for the kind words. You are obviously very proud of your girls, and you have every reason to be. No apology necessary. I consider all women girls. :) Thanks to you and your daughters for reading. […]
