“Why The Hell Is This Country Flogging Women In The First Place?”

Posted by Michelle Moquin on October 28th, 2009

I was waiting for someone to say something about the article that Latifah linked, but no one did. Did anyone read it? Doesn’t anyone have anything to say or do you just accept what is happening because this isn’t happening here? The complacency of this country blows me away.

Not sure what I am referring to? Click here to read the article before you continue reading my write.

Well? Disgusting isn’t it? I mean did you even get it the first time you read it? I had to read it a few times because there was no feeling, no meat to the story. I just didn’t get it. Then it hit me right in my core. I realized they were talking about women in such a matter-of-fact fashion as if they were discussing something not human. Where was the emotion? We’re talking women here. Do you get that the humanity is missing in this article? And the fact that someone could read this, and say nothing, and move on. Just what does that say about humans?

The article should read: “Why the hell is this country flogging women in the first place?” I mean seriously, this article is basically saying that women are nothing more than dogs, and in my opinion, dogs living in the SPCA of Saudi Arabia. And really, that’s being kind. We’ve been told by such women that dogs get better treatment than they do. Women are nothing more than property….a piece of ass to own and use, as their men, their masters, see fit.

And, if their woman don’t obey? Well then they’ll hear it from their master, you can be assured of that. 20 lashes, 30 lashes, 300 lashes! You own that piece of meat; flog it, oh…but don’t flog it to death. There are conditions you know. Conditions! This article states what conditions these women can live…under the rules of their master, of course. It’s not discussing the fact that women can be flogged in the first place. Oh no, that is not the concern. That is never the concern. There is no question why this is happening; their masters, have the right to flog their women.

And just how much flogging is due to them? It is your dog, you own it, but you can’t flog it to death. So what is due to these women? Ask the king – he does the ruling. How many lashes? And what degree of day-to-day suffering should they endure? Hmmm…let’s see….Do we pull them in and shorten their leash? Do we put on a choke collar and yank when necessary? Or do we just ration out food and water and make them so dependent they wouldn’t dare consider straying? We’ll make our women loyal even if we have to practically kill them! Sickening. Am I right or what?

And what are the men in this country saying? Not much. If the men in this country could get women to be property again the men would be delighted. Think I am wrong? Do you see men objecting to this type of treatment to women in these countries? I don’t think so. Men have no problem doing business and making billions off of oil, with countries such as Saudi Arabia. It just goes to show you that men accept this behavior by other men, in order to get oil. You can’t deny that fact. If you do, ask the question, “Why do civilized nations accept this type of behavior from men in their midst, knowing that these men are treating one half of their population bad?” And I’m being kind here. The answer: Money.

You know what else is crazy? We send women over from our country to fight in the Middle East. For what? For the rights of men, not women. Our women are dying for the rights of men, not women. The same thing happened in Vietnam. Otw’s fought for our country, and then came home, not having the same rights as whites. So yes, the comment that Latifah referred to could happen. “…religious flakes could get away with it if they could.”

Why not - Who is objecting to this? No one. Anytime you think that is not true, look at the countries we support! Look at the countries we do business with. Money is more important than the lives of humans. It means more than anything to men. Hence they continue to do business with countries that rape and abuse their women all because they want more money…all for self-aggrandizement.

And when there comes a threat. Isn’t it interesting that when aliens are invading the world, the men come out…’Oh protect us – we need information!” Their lives are at risk. They have something to fear now. But what about the women in this world? Where’s their protection? You know the women that are raped and abused daily? I bet some women aren’t even afraid of the aliens. No, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the women are just hoping that those aliens snatch the bodies of their husbands or probe their tight little asses – how do you like it? “Please aliens, take my husband. All I ask is for freedom.” Freedom. Something, we here take for granted while others can only dream of it.

I read about that gang rape in Richmond that happened last Friday night. Police believe as many as a dozen people watched a 15-year-old girl get beaten and gang-raped by at least 5 boys, outside her high school homecoming dance without reporting it. What is wrong with these boys and what is wrong with their fathers who have not taught them to respect and revere women, not rape them? And the ones watching that did nothing? They are not innocent in this either! Water runs down hill and so does evil. When will this stop?

I am so sick of self-centered men…and you know who you are. Men who are so worried about their own lives, that the moment their little lives are threatened, they need information; they need to be protected. Only now do you scream to others because of what the aliens could possibly do to you. Meanwhile back in the SPCA of Saudi Arabia, ‘How bad should we flog this bitch?”

Men. Oh how they wish women in this country were their property once again. Dream on you little penis wonders – it’s not going to happen here – not on my watch.

I wrote to the women in Iran a while ago telling them that I needed them to be strong. Hell, women in Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, the Congo, the list goes on…they have been strong their whole lives. With so many years of being enslaved, they need love, they need freedom, they need a time where they can just be, with no worries of what they need to endure that day, that moment...

I can tell you, I am two minutes from releasing Madaline from wiping out the men in this world who enslave women, and yes the men too, that do nothing about it. You know who you are…you know who I’m talking to. This world is filled with them; men who are so self-centered and fixated on their own needs, their own self-interests, that they don’t think or won’t think past their own needs to even consider the needs of others, and god forbid the needs of women.

Why do you think Madaline and the aliens act as they do towards humans? Many say that they are arrogant. They aren’t arrogant; they just have huge brains that allows them to see how ludicrous we are. Our actions say we are nothing but animals. No wonder the aliens can’t see us any other way. The most vicious men, the top dog, gets to rule…and he rules by force. Less than 1% own 96% of our country. Do you think that the 1% wouldn’t strike a bargain with the aliens for their own self-aggrandizement? You bet some would.

When I talk to Maddie she tells me that when she views men all she sees is ‘self-interest’. “If whatever men are dealing in doesn’t benefit self, then they’re not interested.” She tells me that in order to free women, we need freedom from foreign oil. When that happens, then we can address women. We have to free men from their dependence on foreign oil, so that they can stand up and be noble to women, as if they really care.” And I stress, “…as if they really care.”

Do you get it? They don’t really care. If they did, they would be doing something NOW. All they care about is themselves and accumulating as much money as possible.

Wouldn’t it be just wonderful if men said, “We don’t want to do business with you until you give equal rights to women?” Yeah right – there’s nothing in it for men to say that. They don’t want to spend the energy to be energy independent; they want to live off the backs of women. Why is it the most vicious men get to rule? They do in all countries, and up until recently, our own country.

Why can’t we do business with Cuba? Cuba gives equal rights to women. Oh but no, they don’t want to do business with them because Cuba is a communist country. But it’s okay to do business with men who beat and rape and yes murder their women! Money is more important than the lives of humans. That just disgusts me to no end.

But thankfully Obama is our president, and he is smart. He knows that we need oil independence. He knows that he needs to play to men’s self-centeredness so that he can help the women. Otherwise, it will continue as it always has: The men will not stand up for the women; they can’t see past their own self-interest. We need to help them to help ourselves. If we are free from foreign oil, free from the men having any money, any interest overseas, we can then help the women. Do you see why Obama is trying to lead us into being energy independent? We need Obama to free us from foreign oil so that we can focus our efforts on freeing the women of our world. I know I am being redundant, but I can’t help it. The info needs to be drilled in.

Ya know, I think of how many times white women have been put down on my blog, how many times white women have been called stupid. And then I think of these Log Cabin Republicans. In case you don’t know who they are, this is a gay group of Republicans – a gay group of Republicans! Isn’t that an oxymoron? I mean c’mon, why are gays part of a party that is trying to make their existence illegal? This just goes to show you how stupid and pathetic white men are. That is like Jews forming a group called “Jews for Hitler”. Stupid and mind-boggling yes? So when we are quick to judge white women, when we are quick to say how stupid white women are, let’s look at the stupid white men. You don’t see lesbians for the Republican Party do you? – No, that would be ludicrous – women know better.

So yeah, I complain about some men, many men. Someone’s got to point it out. This blog exists to say no to shit like this! And when I complain about it, I am called a shrew. Sometimes I can’t help it, and even if I could, I don’t think I’d stop myself. If you think I’ve been shrill before, don’t think I’ll stop now; I’m a woman, hear me roar! And roar I will until we’re treated equally, until the abuses stop. Women are going to keep on screaming. We are going to take what belongs to us by whatever means necessary. That’s what the men do, right? That’s what Madaline means when she says, ‘Woman up.”

Even I need to ‘woman up’. How can I ever rest if women everywhere sleep with unrest? So don’t tell me I’m too shrill when I speak of women, Don’t tell me to grow up, while you defend men who act like children – What if it happened to you? I’ve seen men pathetically grovel when the tables are turned. I’ve seen men beg for their lives when their lives are threatened. But what about the women? They beg for just a day, or just an hour, or maybe just even a moment, for a place where they can feel safe and secure.

Where is the love and compassion for a woman? Some men are so self-involved, it ceases to exist. Men: They will die for free trade, but they won’t die for the right of a woman to be free.

Lastly, if our actions speak louder than our words, and our actions say we are nothing but animals, I ask you, “Where do you fit in, in this picture? What actions will you speak?”

    Controlling Guam’s stray dog population
    2:13

    by Heather Hauswirth

It’s no secret that Guam has a stray dog population that’s considerably out of control. What most people don’t know is there are only four men who make up the Animal Control Squad, specifically assigned to rid the streets of the packs of dogs and cats that run loose in every village.

Fito and Fluffy’s days on the island may be numbered, as the crackdown of rogue animals wandering the island picks up steam. “There are days we don’t get any and good days where we get close to 15 or 30 dogs in one day,” said dogcatcher Manny Calvo.

Partners in crime Calvo and Donald San Agustin patrol the island daily with only a snare in-hand and a cage in the back of their pickup trucks transporting the street strays back to lock up in their pen at the Department of Agriculture. “We try to get the snare around their neck and that will put tension on the rope and it will noose them around the neck and that is how we catch the dogs,” Calvo said.

Calvo insists the stray dog problem seems to be spiraling out of control. It doesn’t help that there’s a lack of funding at the department and the division has only one trap for dogs and one for cats. It’s a situation Calvo says it’s getting worse by the day.

He explained, “We hope it is a tame dog so we can call it and there will be no struggle 02.32.49 but as you just saw right when you call the dog it ran across the street and risks its own life to get away from us.”

The non-profit Guam Animals In Need organization estimates they’ve received almost 5,000 stray animals just in the last year alone. 71% of those made up by dogs, and just 20% turned over by the Department of Agriculture, and 5% turned over by the village mayors.

Agat Mayor Carol Tayama says it’s an islandwide problem that officials are trying to nip in the tail once and for all. She told KUAM News, “We have problems with stray dogs but we really need the help of the community though…it’s not only a health hazard, but safety, we’ve had parents call us to say the stray dogs are chasing after their kids.”

And Calvo and the three others in the Animal Control Division are the ones called to rid the streets of these animals, but their job doesn’t come without some consequences. Asked how many times he’d bee bit, he said,”Every time we snare one, we always have to watch our back so we don’t get bit by the others we are trying to help.”

After boonie dogs have been captured, the plan is for it to go to GAIN, where they will nurse it back to health in the hopes that someone will adopt it.

Your article on the mistreatment of women is so true. Many men on this island have very little respect for women. I would venture to guess that most of the women here would agree with your assessment of the feelings they feel towards the fate of the men should Madaline or aliens come for them.

GUAM – According to an article published by the Agence France Press (AFP), Australian airliner Jetstar has experienced another fire aboard one of its aircraft and had to perform an emergency evacuation of 173 passengers.

In June of this year, a cockpit fire forced a Jetstar airplane to make an emergency landing on Guam.

In the latest mishap, shortly after landing, one of the Airbus A320 plane’s engines caught fire, according to Jetstar.

No injuries were reported when the passengers quickly cleared the cabins without their belongings.

Recent accidents involving Airbus aircraft include an Air France tragedy that left no survivors in May.

The Pros and Cons of Joint Accounts

    Blanche Lark Christerson, Esq.
    Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management

ou may be tempted to name a spouse or other younger relative as joint owner of your bank, brokerage or mutual fund accounts. That person will be able to handle the account if you’re incapacitated. Typically, the accounts will be titled joint tenants with right of survivorship (JTWROS). When one co-owner dies, the survivor inherits.
Caution: Although setting up this type of joint account is convenient and inexpensive, problems may result, especially because the joint owner you name will inherit the account no matter what it says in your will. An overreliance on joint ownership may rob you of flexibility and result in the payment of unnecessary tax, as explained below.

Advantages: In small doses, joint ownership can be useful.

Example: If you reach a point where you no longer can manage your own finances, your co-owner can easily tap a jointly owned checking account and see that your bills are paid. In addition, joint ownership might make sense when you are certain that there is only one person you would want to inherit a financial account. At one owner’s death, assets held as JTWROS will be transferred to the co-owner without the delay and expense of probate.

    ESTATE EQUALITY

To see a disadvantage of joint ownership, consider this scenario where unnecessary estate tax is paid…

John Smith dies in 2008, when the federal estate tax exemption is $2 million. All of his assets are held jointly with his wife, Marge, so she inherits everything. Marge dies later in the year with a $5 million estate. Her estate is $3 million over the exemption so, at a 45% estate tax rate, $1.35 million is owed to the IRS.

Trap: Because John’s assets were held jointly, he had no assets to pass into a “credit shelter” trust (one structure to use the federal estate tax break), so his estate-tax exemption was wasted. The IRS collected an extra $900,000 in estate tax.

Better way: John could have left $2 million to a trust that would benefit Marge and then pass tax-free to their son, Bob, at Marge’s death (the trust would avoid estate tax because of John’s $2 million estate-tax exemption). Then Marge could have left Bob $3 million, of which $2 million would be sheltered by her estate-tax exemption. This plan would have generated only $450,000 in federal estate tax (45% of $1 million), not $1.35 million.

Strategy: If estate tax is a concern, be sure that both spouses have assets subject to probate (such as bank or brokerage accounts) that they can leave to a credit-shelter trust. This will help ensure that they take full advantage of their collective estate-tax exemptions ($4 million in 2008, $7 million in 2009).

    STEP UP TO TAX SAVINGS

As seen above, excess use of joint ownership by married couples can lead to problems. The same may be true for joint ownership with a nonspouse. The co-owner will inherit while would-be heirs will be shut out.

Strategy: Instead of a joint account, use a power of attorney or a trust to enable someone to handle your finances in case you become incapacitated. This won’t interfere with your plans to distribute your assets.

When would naming a nonspouse as co-owner make sense? If you trust that person absolutely and you want him/her to inherit that account.

Advantage: Naming a nonspouse as joint owner is a simple, cost-effective way to provide for possible incapacity. What’s more, a valuable tax break won’t be lost.

Example: Jane Jones has $400,000 worth of securities. Her basis is $100,000. If Jane dies as sole owner and leaves her portfolio to her daughter, Alice, in her will, Alice will inherit the securities with a stepped-up basis. After Jane’s death, Alice can sell the inherited securities and owe no capital gains tax on all the appreciation. (Note that this appreciation may be subject to estate tax.) Now suppose that Jane has named Alice as co-owner of the account. That basis step-up will not be lost. If two co-owners are not married to each other, the estate of the first owner to die will include a share of the property based on the portion of the original purchase price furnished by the decedent.

In our example, Jane had acquired all the securities before adding Alice to the account as a joint owner. Thus, 100% of the securities will be included in Jane’s estate and Alice will inherit with a full basis step-up to market value even though she had been named co-owner of the account.

Spousal treatment: What if, in the above example, Jane had instead named her husband, Dan, joint owner of her brokerage account? At Jane’s death, all of the assets in the account would have gone to Dan, but he would have received only half of a basis step-up.

Example: Assume Jane dies when the securities are worth $400,000. Only Jane’s half of the account ($200,000) gets a basis step-up.

Therefore, Dan’s basis in the inherited assets would be $200,000 (a basis step-up for Jane’s half) plus $50,000 (Dan’s half of the original $100,000 basis).

Exceptions: Generally, in community property states, such as California, Nevada, and Texas, Dan would get a full basis step-up. Also, joint tenancies created before 1977 by Jane get a full step-up for Dan.

Strategy: Learn the laws of your state. Assuming the basis step-up will be 50%, not 100%, it might make sense to hold highly appreciated assets in one name so the surviving spouse can inherit with a full step-up.

    GIFT TAX TROUBLE

Using joint ownership can lead to a gift-tax trap.

Example: Jane Jones has named her daughter, Alice, co-owner of her brokerage account, as above. Alice then withdraws cash or securities from this joint account.

Such a withdrawal may be treated as a taxable gift. If so, gift-tax returns may have to be filed and gift tax might have to be paid.

Acceptable: Alice can withdraw assets to pay for her mother’s expenses. That won’t trigger tax consequences.

Not acceptable: If Alice uses the withdrawn assets for any other purpose (besides Jane’s expenses), the withdrawal will be treated as a gift from Jane to Alice.

If such gifts this year top $12,000, a gift tax return will have to be filed. Once Jane has made a total of $1 million worth of taxable gifts to Alice and other recipients, gift tax will have to be paid if additional gifts are made.

Strategy: If the co-owner named to someone else’s account withdraws assets, document the fact that the assets were used on behalf of the original owner. A diary and cancelled checks can serve as proof.

You always keep your eye on the prize. Why a man would even want to keep one half the world’s population from being a productive part of this planet is mind boggling.

I know many men who think they are progressive when it comes to women’s issues. But they are merely tolerant of our cries for equality. The fact that we even have to ask for it escapes them.

I will follow you lead when I am not making a path of my own towards women’s equality. Please keep up the mantra. Men have such a short attention span when it is not one of their perceived needs in danger.

    Sleep to avoid dementia

Nothing beats a good night’s sleep — but when was the last time you got one?

If you can’t remember, here’s some sobering news: New research links poor sleep to Alzheimer’s disease.

A study on mice finds that levels of a protein associated with the disease rise and fall along with sleep. But when the mice were deprived of sleep, those levels of amyloid beta skyrocketed, according to a study published in the journal Science.

Alzheimer’s patients have high levels of this protein in their brains, so you really want make sure this stuff isn’t building up inside your own noggin — and it seems one great way to do that is to simply get enough sleep.

And that’s not the only reason to make sure you’re getting your nightly ration of Zzz’s.

Ever notice that you’re more likely to catch a cold when you’re tired? That’s not a coincidence. Poor sleep can decimate your immune system. Insomnia can also speed the aging process, slow your brain and reaction time, and add stress to your life, marriage and job.

I know getting more sleep is easier said than done — and you’re not the only one experiencing problems. Turn the TV to almost any channel, and it won’t be long before you see a commercial for a med to help you get to sleep.

A few minutes later, you’ll probably see a commercial for an energy drink to keep you awake.

Here’s a good way to know if you’re getting enough sleep — can you wake up without an alarm clock? If you tend to awaken naturally, on your own, and feeling refreshed, chances are you’re doing it right.

But if you have to force yourself out of bed after a few futile pounds of the snooze button and then slam down three cups of coffee before you can even begin to function, then your body is trying to tell you something.

The answer to your sleep problem will depend on what’s causing it — but I can tell you one place you shouldn’t look: prescription meds. These things have terrible side effects and many of them are addictive.

Dr. Casey Adams has written about some of the best all-natural cures for sleeplessness at HealthierTalk.com, and it’s a great place to start (and maybe even end) your own search for the perfect night’s sleep.

Keep missing out on that crucial sleep, and you won’t just be unhealthy. You could end up with dementia.

That’s a pretty high price for too much tossing and turning.

And if you’re still having trouble sleeping, read on — because there’s one thing many people can do on their own, without meds, to sleep better.

  13. Alexander Hamilton Says:

I am amazed at a branch of the military that I started in the year of our lord, 1790, the Coast Guard, has become such an outstanding fighting force for my country.

When I resigned my post as Secretary of the Treasury in the year of our lord, 1781, I set about trying to fix things that would keep our nation from joining the ranks of the other world powers of europe.

It had become apparent during my tenure as Secretary of the Treasure that our tax revenue was impaired because we as a nation were losing the taxes we were due on many goods because those goods were being smuggled in via un-inspected major sea ports.

I learned while studying the british economic system that while they had a good system, their ability to recover the taxes due a nation of such a huge trade advantage was very inadequate. Smuggling accounted for about half the lost tax revenue.

I knew then that one day I would have to resign my position in the Treasury to tackle that problem. My solution was to propose to the Congress that they commission officers to man 20 revenue cutters( they provided for 10) to patrol the major ports of the nation to reduce the smuggling and thereby increase the tax revenue for our new nation.

Those “revenue cutters” with their six man crews became the branch of the military you know today as the United States Coast Guard. They succeeded in reducing the smuggling of goods through our major port, something the british had still failed to do.

A man wakes up in the hospital, badaged from head to foot. The doctor
comes in and says, “Well, I see you’ve regained consciousness. Now, you
probably won’t remember, but you were in a pile-up on the freeway. You’re
going to be okay, you’ll walk again and everything, but something happened.
I’m trying to break this gently, but the fact is, your willy was chopped off in
the wreck, and we were unable to find it.”

The man groans, but the doctor goes on, “You’ve got $9000 in insurance
compensation coming, and we now have the technology to build you a new
willy that will work as well as your old one did – better in fact! But the thing
is, it doesn’t come cheap. It’s $1000 an inch.” The man perks up at this.

“So,” continues the doctor, “it’s for you to decide how many inches you want.
But it’s something you’d better discuss with your wife. I mean, if you had a five
inch one before, and you decide to go for a nine incher, she might be a bit put out.
But if you had a nine inch one before, and you decide only to invest in a five
incher this time, she might be disappointed. So it’s important that she plays a role
in helping you make the decision.”

The man agrees to talk with his wife. The doctor comes back the next day.

“So,” says the doctor, “have you spoken with your wife?”

    “I have,” says the man.

“And what is the decision?” asks the doctor.

    “We’re getting granite countertops.”

I saw Larry King’s special about the gang rape of the 15 year old girl. I hope those boys get sent to a prison were they get their asses taken a few times every day for a decade or so.

Your article was so poignant about the indifference of men. Can anyone imagine the terror of that child with men watching and cheering while 10 men took turns raping her for two hours?

What does it say about our humanity? I’m not saying I believe in aliens, but I can certainly agree with you Michelle. If there were aliens how could they possibly mistake us for beings with higher intelligence or something worthy of compassion?

Howie and Al, were are your helpful, encouraging comments now? Does the plight of women or even a 15 year old female child bother you enough to elicit a sympathetic comment? Or is it only things in which a male might lose a life or limb that arouse your concerns?

CURE FOR SPEND-A-HOLICS: NEW TREATMENT FOR MONEY DISORDERS

Perhaps money can’t buy happiness — but it’s all too obvious these days that spending more than you have can bring misery, and cause stress and anxiety that take a toll on your health. Fortunately, help can be had with a new form of therapy that specifically treats what Brad Klontz, PsyD, coauthor with Ted Klontz, PhD, of Mind Over Money: Overcoming the Money Disorders That Threaten Our Financial Health (to be published in December 2009), calls “money disorders.”

    HIGH FINANCIAL ANXIETY

Even before the recession, nearly 75% of Americans identified money as the number-one source of stress in their lives. At present, the average American household owes more than $10,000 in credit card debt and saves at a relatively low rate of about 5%. Given these numbers, it’s not surprising to learn that many suffer from money disorders, such as overspending, serial borrowing, compulsive gambling, workaholism, underspending (Depression Era mentality or hoarding), financial dependence or financial infidelity (withholding financial information from a significant other).

“Financial therapy goes beyond the balance sheet to uncover the root causes of money disorders,” Dr. Klontz said. The goal is to identify your “money scripts” — unconscious beliefs associated with money that drive your financial behavior — which in turn helps remove psychological barriers to changing your relationship with money, and enables you to eventually improve your financial health.

    CHANGE YOUR MONEY SCRIPT

It’s not the lack of funds that is the problem — with money disorders, Dr. Klontz points out that financial problems are the symptom, not the disease. In most cases, early childhood experiences around money lead to a set of problematic money scripts that create problems in your adult life. The first step is being honest with yourself about your financial problems and making a commitment to change.

People who routinely overspend or avoid dealing with their finances are following what Dr. Klontz calls “poor scripts.” Poor scripts include statements such as, “My net worth is equal to my self-worth” … “It’s okay to keep secrets about money from my spouse” … “The more money I have, the happier I will be.” In his practice and at workshops, Dr. Klontz helps people change their “poor scripts” to “wealth scripts” — such as “It’s important to save money for a rainy day” and “Giving money to others who are in need is something people should do.” You have the ability to change your own money mind-set, he stresses. Creating a new script to recite to yourself eventually transforms it to your new reality, which is how you change your financial trajectory. “Regardless of your starting point or your current financial situation, you can quite literally rewire your brain for wealth,” says Dr. Klontz.

To help people get to the bottom of their money disorders, Dr. Klontz and his team conduct workshops (www.onsiteworkshops.com) around the country. A psychotherapist and a certified financial planner (CFP) run each intensive six-day program. The programs include experiential therapy, in which participants explore past experiences with money to work through unresolved conflicts and emotions about it… practical lectures from a financial planner on risk management, tax strategies and retirement planning… and 45 minutes a day of mindful meditation to reduce anxiety.

    WHEN TO SEEK HELP

If you know what you should be doing with your money and just can’t seem to do it… if your financial behavior feels out of control… or if you are suffering from significant emotional, social (e.g., relationship problems) or financial consequences of your behavior, it’s time to seek help. According to Dr. Koontz, warning signs include…

Anxiety, worry or despair about your financial situation.
    Lack of savings.
Extensive debt or filing for bankruptcy.
Conflict with family or friends about money.
Compulsive spending or its opposite, hoarding.
    Financial dependence or excessive risk-taking.
    WHERE TO SEEK HELP

Financial therapy is still a very new field, and Dr. Klontz notes that at present there is no established accreditation — although he and his colleagues are working on this. He has trained dozens of therapists and financial planners around the country and has set up a referral list at http://www.yourmentalwealth.com, where you can also take a financial health test to gauge the relative severity of your issues if you are feeling stressed about money .

There are other options, too — you may be able to find a local therapist who works in financial psychology by asking financial planners for a referral. Some people find it useful to see both a therapist and a financial planner — but this can be expensive. Another solution is to investigate free self-help groups, meditation classes and lectures at local community centers and places of worship. All around the country, people who have been downsized or face other financial setbacks are banding together to help each other develop new marketable skills and find new ways to make ends meet. Of course, it is challenging… but it also is an opportunity to change your money script and get on the right path to financial wellness.

  20. Zen Lill Says:

Hi Mischa, ah you know the (or I should say: many) men that clicked through will say, well the men were going to get lashed also, what??! But, why the fug are women (or men) being flogged at all for any reason? It’s barbaric and backwards and if that fits the Islamic profile, so be it, if the shoe fits wear it. The same for any other religious group, but truly, it’s women who must stand strong and speak out but I find that most women are preoccupied with anything but doing just that bc it might just piss off their own man, and oh what an oopsie that’d be, mustn’t rock the boat. Besides, I’m about to go (fill in the blank)…

Men are not the ‘prize’ my dear females, so why is there such a premium on having one? Have you asked yourself that? First questions women ask of other women, are you seeing anyone (if no) why not (if yes) what does he do (bc that might be more important than what you do? Why?) do men ever ask other men that question? Not in my experience, it’s a non-relevant sitch, if it comes up it comes up, but it isn’t first ten minute convo protocol. How about this q: how do YOU balance work/home life? ha! But that’s all Western sensibilities, and do not get me going on this (while I still do dig men, might be switching teams given the limited pool of men we’re dealing with who are ‘good and ‘real’) if I keep talking. Btw, Boggzy, I met your twin on the Palos Verdes cliffs today, only he had long dreadlocks, you in an alternate state : )

If I were from anywhere else but Western countries I would ask Madaline to off them all, too. There is no improving them, they just don’t get it and never will. In Indo, women can’t wear tight jeans anymore (Jan 1 start date) but men will argue that men cannot wear shorts anymore either…yes, but women will be admonished and beaten for the offense, what will happen to men who do the shorts wearing anyway, probably a slap on the wrist and a wink/nod.

What do you do though? Off all men? How do we judge who’s a ‘good’ or ‘real’ man anymore? We all know there aren’t that many Anonz’s out there and even he will readily admit he wasn’t always like he is now, seems to be atoning quite nicely in the recent year or so though, no? would we have any males left?

Caroline, so glad your feeling the effects and 21 strong, that makes me proud, of all of you!

Reba, yes that is one of the perks ; ) and that is a good feeling. I have had friends male and female tell me how good I look coming and going : )

…and I get serious gratification from the women here who report in and real life pals who submit and do the program, that’s fun bc I see their results live. It is work and it is a commitment and it is a new mind set, especially if you really like your liquor and processed foods, it’s hard at first, once done and the cravings for certain foods and bevvies end and you feel and look great you hardly recall what that was like anymore. Don’t know about any of you but I get offers to parties, to go out for drinks, etc…no one even notices that I’m not drinking but if they ask I tell them. I guess I must’ve been a hell of a martini drinker before bc they look at me like I’ve gone mad : ) the truth is I just don’t remember them days no mo’! I’m not opposed to a drinkie here and there but facts are facts, it slows the metabolism and is a weight changer for most people, for women going into that peri-menapause or menopause it is a crucial factor in preventing hot flashes. Which brings me to my point for next week, we’ll be adding a couple of weight training exercises so get yourselves a set of 2 & 5 lb weights, you don’t need heavier with the ZL technique, you need to move slow and deliberate with total body focus, so there’s that : ) but has everyone been keeping a food journal? Been eating like a Vegatarian 2 meals/days a week?

Other purchases: olive oil (organic, first cold press is best), flaxseed oil (refridgerate this) and organic cocunut oil (excellent for cooking and perfect for sunning and after showering, just wipe excess off bc it will stain clothes if left on skin surface) so you may pay more for these items but at least you’ll get good skin and good cooking out of the deal.

Here’s how to convert to brown rice and love it – in the cooking water add one chicken or vegetable bouilion cube, a large teaspoon of tumeric, 2 large tablespoons of cocunut oil, several strands of saffron and white pepper, when it boils, add your rice and cover/simmer as usual, it’s so tasty die-hard brown rice haters will be saying yumyum, you can also make this with wild/long grain rice, very tasty also. Serve it up with some steamed veggies and add Bragg’s amino acids if you want to.

We’ll be talking about the health benfits of garlic soon also, I’m going to tell you that great food and health are very interconnected and so my search goes on for justifying the supplements but I’ll agree to this: women need calcium/magnesium 1600mgs a day, vite D3 also. I highly recommend some chinese herbal supplements (pure of form of course) and I’ll give those later this week or next, overload is exactly what I don’t want to do to you, it all has to blend easily into your lifestyle and that takes time, and energetically speaking, it requires an internal shift, I’m quite sure that if you’re really following all this that your feeling very strong internally as well and able to step aside from your ego and get better perspective on things that once felt very subjective, am I correct? You tell me if you understand that statement and/or if that is occuring for you, bc if it isn’t I will step up the mind/spirit element of this program ; ) I owe you all that much and more…

    Caio, Zen Lill

    PS sorry for the length…

  21. Doug Boggs Says:

I am saddened and sickened by these reports of women and flogging and the myriad of other atrocities that happen every minute of the day throughout this planet. It is easy to say that the women must stand up and take their rights as we sit here in Amerika. I do urge those in their plight to continue their fight, although it many not be easy and saying just “do it” does no one any good. But, keep the fight alive. You are not going unheard.

I don’t think that women are preoccupied in Afghanistan and that is the reason that most don’t stand firm in opposition. But I understand your statement, ZL. Although, I don’t currently have dreads I have thought of going that style direction.

Our previous generations in Amerika did the hard fighting and we have no idea what it is like to live in a constant state of fear. That is likened to the slaves in pre Civil War Amerika. What the men AND women of this country can do is step up to the political pulpit using the freedom of speech (like the credit rating companies are doing now…but that is a different story) and call or write their politicians to tell them we should set a standard for the world of ethics. I just had a laugh as I wrote that. Amerika, asking politicians to make our country to be the country of ethics? We could start by talking with Joe Lieberman… But, we can make our voices heard nonetheless to state that the world should spend more political time discussing and healing the human rights policies of other countries more than ignoring them and doing the business of the day. It is well documented that when people are happy their society flourishes, not strictly financially, but in all aspects of the human condition. The thought of too big to fail, is the same as us doing business with Isreal, China, Russia, Afghanistan and so many others that show our country’s ethos.

For lack of a better phrase, it was stated in the movie Wall Street, “Greed is good.” This is the mantra of our country, as it was the empire of Rome. And we see where that ended up…Our world does not need to revolve and evolve around this negative philosophy and ethos. Our world revolves around an ethos that means nothing. Our global society has based its motion on something that is meaningless. Money. This money begets power which begets greed which begets corruption and so on. If humans we no longer around on this planet, it would still spin and life would continue. Our own arrogance has created a system of beliefs that hurt, anger, stifle, mame, denegrate, enslave others for the benefit of few. If money weren’t around we humans would have to interact more together as a specie in order to survive. Money separates our specie to become, as Michelle pointed out from her other article, emotionless.

When I am in a gathering I do get asked what my wife does. I enjoy telling people what we do. Most people talk about their jobs as if it is their life, but I talk about our life and then follow with whatever work is going on at the time. Most people do not know how to respond to that.
