Ito: It is thoroughly disgusting. And even more sickening that he has sold out seminars all over the country and overseas teaching men to abuse women, by telling them to disregard a woman’s consent and take it – basically telling men that it is OK to rape. Can it get any worse for women? Unfortunately…the answer is yes.

This came across my plate the other day. This is in addition to what you posted.

‘Choking Girls All Around The World’ Seminar Ends In Australia Amid Protests

Self-proclaimed “date coach” Julien Blanc has cancelled his seminar tour in Australia and left the country after officials revoked his visa in light of online protests that highlighted his longtime promotion of abusive behavior against women.

In recent months, Blanc, a representative of global dating help company Real Social Dynamics, attained a following of men desperate for companionship through his “Ph.D. in female attraction” program. The dating strategy Blanc touts in online videos and in-person sessions centered on the use of force and disregard of consent as a means of gaining a woman’s attention.

The Australia leg of Blanc’s world tour — which would have lasted until December — included a seminar on a boat in Melbourne. On Friday, Australian officials confirmed Blanc and his assistant’s overnight departure during a news conference.

“The matter was raised with us and we had it investigated and this fellow looked at,” Australian Immigration Minister Scott Morrison said, according to The Guardian. “This guy wasn’t putting forward political ideas, he was putting forward abuse that was derogatory to women and that’s just something, those are values abhorred in this country.”

Blanc took things further when he put his words into action through his social media campaign, #ChokingGirlsAllAroundTheWorld, a compilation of graphic photos that show him choking women. A viral YouTube video also follows Blanc as he wrings a Japanese woman’s neck and pushes it toward his pelvic area during a walk through the streets of Tokyo.

Experts say that the danger of what some may consider seemingly innocent act lies in a belief among some men that they are entitled to women’s bodies, as seen earlier this year when Elliot Rodger complained about women rejecting him in a video before killing six people, injuring 13, and taking his own life near the University of California, Santa Barbara campus.

In recent weeks, conversations about street harassment have increased, especially after the release of a YouTube video that captured a woman being harassed within a 10-hour span as she walked through the streets of New York City. Producers of the video said their project highlighted how catcalling threatens a woman’s safety and peace of mind. That’s not hard to believe. Attempts by women to avoid or confront their cat callers have ended violently, as seen in Detroit and New York earlier this year.

The nightmare for many women around the world goes beyond the streets and into the home. In its 2013 report, the World Health Organization (WHO) designated violence against women as a global health epidemic. It found that one in three women worldwide has experienced intimate partner or sexual violence and nearly 40 percent of murders of women were committed by intimate partners.

The same holds true domestically. In the United States, women represent 85 percent of domestic abuse victims. While nearly 7.8 million women have been raped at some point in their lives, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence says that cases usually go unreported, due in part to the proximity of the assailant. The epidemic has touched women from all walks of life. Today, a college with 10,000 students could experience as many as 350 sexual assaultsannually, according to the National Institute of Justice, an umbrella organization of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Domestic violence also takes an emotional and financial toll on victims. WHO found that victims stood twice as likely to face depression and three times as likely to develop alcohol use disorders. A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report showed that victims of intimate violence missed a total of 8 million work days annually. The U.S. health care system also doles $5.8 billion per year toward helping victims, nearly half of which goes to direct medical and mental health services.

It should be no surprise as to why members of anti-domestic violence groups have likened Blanc’s video — which has had more than 50,000 hits — to lessons on how to rape. D.C.-based columnist Jennifer Li has launched a Change.orgpetition telling hotels across the world to not let Blanc and Real Social Dynamics hosts seminars in their venues. In addition to Melbourne, venues in Brisbane, Austin, and Seattle, and online ticketing service Eventbrite have answered the call.

In a recent Independent article, Li issued a similar charge to venues in Japan ahead of Blanc’s tour in the country, scheduled to kick off in a matter of weeks.

“I really hope we can stop him before he starts assaulting the women there again,” Li said. “The only way to take someone like him down is by publicly shaming them. I know this is giving him more publicity, but I’m hoping it’s the type of publicity that will mean that shitbags like him aren’t able to find work.”

What are the results?

Good morning!

Well, if you don’t know by now, it isn’t great news. It would’ve been wonderful had we retained the Senate plus some, and I was counting on it..HOPEing for it. But we lost seats all around, and the repubs are now in control.

What was the issue? Did the Dems not show up? Was the problem the gerrymandering, SCOTUS making voter suppression the law of the land, and election day disenfranchising. Did you hear about Texas? Or a combination of all the above?

No other two term president (Bush, Clinton, Reagan,) has ever had his party in the majority in his 6th year of his presidency – I thought Obama would make it a first, but that is just me with my HOPE and wishful thinking. Still it is very disappointing.

And, I still can’t believe that after everything repubs Scott Walker in Wisconsin, and Rick Scott in Florida have done and said (not to mention Mitch McConnell), that they all won re-election (even after Walker moved!). Shocking.

Interesting how the minimum wage got passed in states (Thank you Elizabeth Warren for fighting hard for this one!), and yet the repubs gained control – the party that was against it.

All I can say is it will be an interesting last two years for Obama. We will see what we the people get when we sit on our asses. I think we will certainly hear what women will say when they truly see that the repub men didn’t value them nor their vote.

I spoke with  girlfriend, a Dem, who voted but was considering not voting. She said she had thought that if the repubs took over, well then maybe something would get done. You would never hear a repub say that if in the same situation. That’s the thing with some Dems, they want to get stuff done…they want to see movement in Congress, even if it isn’t what most people want, it’s something. And the repubs, they’ll just continue to be the party of no, and would rather get nothing done even if the people want it, just because they don’t want to see Obama successful.

I know that what I’m about to say might sound overly “rah-rah” since we just lost big time. But the last thing we want to do over the next 2 years is become complacent. I know…I know…if we can’t even get voters to the polls for one day, how can we rile them up, and excite them enough to participate continually to get what we want? I don’t know, but sitting on our asses is not going to do it.

So…What will Obama do? Will he define his last two years or will he let the repubs define it? I am HOPEing that Obama will take it on. My gut instinct is he will. But that means WE have to take it on too. Grassroots movements need to keep on keepin’ on in spite of who’s controlling Congress.

For example, if we don’t want Obamacare to be repealed (because the repubs will most certainly go after this again), or unnecessary tampering with medicare and medicaid…if we don’t want the Keystone pipeline, or if we women are fed up with losing our rights of our bodies, or if you care when the repubs don’t honor the minimum wage raise…this is the time for us to voice our opinions, and voice them loud.

If Obama feels that there is a mandate in any of these areas, he will listen. But we just have to shout loud enough, and not let this bring us down to where we do nothing.

It is a tall order. Will the American people do it? Are we willing to put in the time? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

OC: I must’ve read your comment at least a few times. I felt sick from reading it because it is all so true. I felt sick last night when I kept seeing another repub win. It just goes to show you how strong racism is and that the love of money is more important than peoples’ lives, that yes they will vote against their own best interest, or not engage or vote at all…and then blame Obama when nothing gets done.

I kept thinking we would pull through, that women really would wake up and take their lives in their own hands. But as you can see from the results, not much shakin’ of the tree went on.

Florida Voter: That’s part of the problem…people didn’t vote and went to bed.

Good morning!

Although I am calling today’s election day “Women’s Day,” because it is OUR day to make a difference, men need to get out and vote too. The more Dems at the polls the better chance we Dems have at winning, and making these last two years of the Obama administration successful.

At this point there is not much more to say. The voting part is easy. All you have to do now is go vote. And, help those that need help to vote.

June/Jane: You wrote me back in January informing me that you were a very successful female politician. I misread your comment and responded to you as “Jane” when you actually commented as “June.” Then you responded to me again, but this time signing off as “Jane.” :) Most likely you were being polite and not correcting me…and…the name you gave you mentioned was an alias so it probably didn’t matter :)

Well…This song is dedicated to you and all the women politicians that are working on securing women’s rights and equality, and bettering our political system so that women have power and a strong voice. I could not do what you ladies do but I applaud you and respect you so much for putting yourselves out there and being mentors and role models for our girls in the coming generations. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your efforts, commitment and tenacity. Ladies: We don’t need to wait our time anymore and dream of a better life. It’s time to turn the tides in our favor. Joan: Thanks. In my opinion, I am just being logical, and looking at the facts. If some women can’t see the war on women that the misogynistic repubs keep presenting to them, there is no HOPE for them, as unfortunately I don’t think anything I can say will matter. I wish it did! Let’s just HOPE that enough women support women at the polls that it won’t matter, and we can pull them along with us to a better place for ALL of us. That is my goal.

In addition to that I want to add that if you are a vote by mail voter and you decide to vote at your polling place tomorrow instead, you must turn in your ballot AND its envelope to a poll worker. Good morning!

For the past few days, I have been struggling with what to write for today, the day before election day. I have been perusing the net frantic for something that will inspire all of you to vote tomorrow. I usually write my blog the night before so that it is ready to post at 9:00 AM. But last night with my computer screen filled with various open windows, I went to bed earlier than usual, with nothing written.

I woke up this morning at 6:30 AM and surrendered to my thoughts and decided to just write what was on my mind.

I have always voted for as long as I was of legal age to vote. I have always voted Dem. However, I voted Dem because my parents did, not because I had any knowledge of what that really meant.

I wasn’t involved in politics. at. all. I never was interested in watching the news nor did I ever pick up a newspaper except to read the entertainment section. I knew very little about the president that I was voting for and even less about anyone in Congress. Hell, I didn’t even know what Congress was. I didn’t vote on policy because I had no idea what was happening, and frankly I really didn’t care. Politics was not interesting to me, and I felt that my vote and my voice didn’t matter much as it seemed to me, men had all of the power in politics.

Well…I was correct that men had all of the power, but what I didn’t realize is that it was because women gave it to them. However, I did learn that my voice did matter, and I saw proof of it. My way of getting involved in something bigger than myself was being a voice for those that didn’t have one. I got involved in the protection of animals and that was only because I had a good friend who introduced me to the horrors of how animals were treated in factory farms and animal testing. I realized that I could be a voice for animals and bring about change. And I did, very passionately.

When I started my blog in 2007 I had no idea what it was going to be all about. I just knew that I didn’t want it to be about one subject. So I named it “Michelle Moquin’s A Day In The Life Of…,” with a plan to blog about just that.

Because of the world wide web, I had more access to what was happening here and around the world. My eyes began to see and read things that I never would have seen and read. And as I began to blog, I could feel my world open up and my interests expand. As I researched my passions about certain things on the net, I was exposed to other things that interested me and inspired other blog writes.

It was then that politics started to peak my interest. The first reason being that you, my readers, I discovered were politically savvy. Most of my readers knew way more and were much more involved in politics than I was. You inspired me to dive in deeper, and better myself in the political arena

Secondly, I knew of the atrocities that happened to women but I began to be exposed to the plight of women on a grander scale around the world and it deeply disturbed me to my core. I began to see that how women were treated here and around the world, was directly connected to world politics.

The more involved I got the more I realized how little I knew. What I did come to learn very quickly was how I had put my future into the hands of others, and blindly trusted, because of my ignorance of the political environment.

I am a person who likes to be in control and here it was hitting me in the face, knowing that I had been giving up my power and control of my life, and my rights to others. And I could see that other women were giving up their power and control to others, as well. And those “others” were mostly men, who had no idea what was important to me and other women or what was in my and their best interest. It was a huge wake-up call.

Because of these reasons, a political animal was born. I found that I was watching the news 2-3 hours every night so that I could educate myself on the politics in our country and abroad, the political system in general, and be able to blog from an informed position.

I felt empowered in politics for the first time in my life, and I felt disenchanted by the political system.

Because of this dichotomy, and the fact that others felt as I did, I knew that in order to feel truly empowered, I needed to use my voice to inspire others so that we together could bring about change.

Barack Obama made it easy for me. From the moment I first heard him speak on the radio, I was so inspired by what he was saying, I had to pull my car over so that I could give him my undivided attention. I discovered what he valued and who he was as a person, so when he announced he would run for president, I knew that he was one man who would support women’s rights and issues if he was given the opportunity, and had a majority in Congress.

I do not believe in coincidences. I think things happen for a reason. And as I look back over the years, it is clear to me now why I started my blog.

Many people call my blog a “women’s blog.” And it is.

If there is one thing that I can leave in my legacy is that I HOPE I was able to be there for women and empower women.

Through my blog, I give women a platform so that you can voice your challenges and your successes and be heard…

By showing women that even if we don’t share the same values, we can respect our differences and come together and support our sisters so that we all have the freedom to chose what we know is best for us and our bodies…by showing women that when we do come together we have the strength and power in numbers that can bring about change and empower all women.

And most importantly show our daughters and granddaughters by example, that women are valued. That our opinions and our intelligence do matter. And by coming together in support of each other for each other, we can get what we want.

That we do not have to get approval or permission from men to do what we know is right for us. That we are the controllers of our minds and bodies, our future, and anything else that affects our personal livelihood and well-being.

All we have to do is demand it and it is ours. We aren’t going to be handed our power – we have to take it. We women alone, together, are strong enough, powerful enough, wise enough, to make the decisions that are best for us that will change our lives and the future of our daughters and granddaughters.

Ladies: I HOPE today to give you the courage and strength to demand your equality by using your voices and the power of your vote. I wish with all my heart that you will open your hearts to all other women, seize this moment because it is OUR time, to come together for womankind and take what is rightfully ours, just by being born a woman, a human being.

Unlike what I thought a many years ago that my vote and voice didn’t matter, it does. Even more so today. Please do not be how I was for so many years, giving control of what mattered to me most over to men, trusting they would do the right thing, as if they knew what was best for me.

Men are a powerful part of the political system, and that cannot be avoided, yet. :) But we do have the choice to chose which men we want to partner with. I don’t need to go into what has been said over and over again, and what has been shown over and over again through their actions, just what the repub men think of women. We all know how truly sickening it is.

But the good news is, those days can be over because we women have the power to change it. I have faith and I trust that you will use that intelligent mind of yours and vote Dem with me tomorrow on election day. Do not worry, (Don’t buy the BS that if you vote Dem in Iowa your neighbors will know you didn’t vote repub.) NO ONE will know how you voted unless you tell them. It will be our little secret that we women came together at the polls to support each other.  That is why I am calling election day, ”Women’s Day,” because if we come together and support each other it will truly be a day we women will not forget.

This is it. It may be Obama’s final term, but it could be the beginning of something amazing and empowering for women, because if any male president will kick some ass for women, it will be our president Obama. I believe that if we women pull through for our president…if we vote and create an administration that gives him the power to do what we as women want, he will pull through and fight for us.

Let’s not give up our power like we have for so long. Let’s show up for each other. Our power comes when we take it…when we come together for each other and support our sisters. I’m doing all I can and counting on you all to do the same. Let’s do this together. Sending you so much love.
