…Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) was noted saying that Republicans “don’t have a problem with women.”

… Judge Head told FOX 34 in Lubbock, Texas, that if President Obama gets re-elected “I’m thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we’re not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we’re talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy.”

…South Carolina this week will try to convince a United States federal court its new voter identification law doesn’t discriminate against black voters, contrary to a finding by the federal government.

…with all of the backlash that Akin is receiving from his comments on “legitimate rape”, American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer is now comparing Akin to a victim of rape.

Readers: These are just a few of the recent thoughts and actions of the republican party. You know there are plenty more to discuss. Hey, it seems that even mother nature isn’t on the GOP’s side. If that isn’t a sign of horrific times to come, I don’t know what is.

“Just Noticing”: Observations Of A Blogger

Good morning!

You know I am at a loss for words this morning. And I have no idea what I am going to blog about. It is already 11:00 AM and I still haven’t posted. Ahhh…it just came to me – I actually do have an idea of what to post…and an important one it is.

…with all of talk about Obamacare…this particular topic that I am posting today has somewhat been pushed to the backseat, but today I’m putting it in the front.

Justice Scalia must resign

Justice Antonin Scalia needs to resign from the Supreme Court.

He’d have a lot of things to do. He’s a fine public speaker and teacher. He’d be a heck of a columnist and blogger. But he really seems to aspire to being a politician — and that’s the problem.

So often, Scalia has chosen to ignore the obligation of a Supreme Court justice to be, and appear to be, impartial. He’s turned “judicial restraint” into an oxymoronic phrase. But what he did this week, when the court announced its decision on the Arizona immigration law, should be the end of the line.

Not content with issuing a fiery written dissent, Scalia offered a bench statement questioning President Obama’s decision to allow some immigrants who were brought to the United States illegally as children to stay. Obama’s move had nothing to do with the case in question. Scalia just wanted you to know where he stood.

“After this case was argued and while it was under consideration, the secretary of homeland security announced a program exempting from immigration enforcement some 1.4 million illegal immigrants,” Scalia said. “The president has said that the new program is ‘the right thing to do’ in light of Congress’s failure to pass the administration’s proposed revision of the immigration laws. Perhaps it is, though Arizona may not think so. But to say, as the court does, that Arizona contradicts federal law by enforcing applications of federal immigration law that the president declines to enforce boggles the mind.”

What boggles the mind is that Scalia thought it proper to jump into this political argument. And when he went on to a broader denunciation of federal policies, he sounded just like an Arizona Senate candidate.

“Arizona bears the brunt of the country’s illegal immigration problem,” the politician-justice proclaimed. “Its citizens feel themselves under siege by large numbers of illegal immigrants who invade their property, strain their social services, and even place their lives in jeopardy. Federal officials have been unable to remedy the problem, and indeed have recently shown that they are simply unwilling to do so.

“Arizona has moved to protect its sovereignty — not in contradiction of federal law, but in complete compliance with it.” Cue the tea party rally applause.

As it happens, Obama has stepped up immigration enforcement. But if the 76-year-old justice wants to dispute this, he is perfectly free as a citizen to join the political fray and take on the president. But he cannot be a blatantly political actor and a justice at the same time.

Unaccountable power can lead to arrogance. That’s why justices typically feel bound by rules and conventions that Scalia seems to take joy in ignoring. Recall a 2004 incident. Three weeks after the Supreme Court announced it would hear a case over whether the White House needed to turn over documents from an energy task force that Dick Cheney had headed, Scalia went off on Air Force Two for a duck-hunting trip with the vice president.

Scalia scoffed at the idea that he should recuse himself. “My recusal is required if. . . my ‘impartiality might reasonably be questioned,’ ” he wrote in a 21-page memo. Well, yes. But there was no cause for worry, Scalia explained, since he never hunted with Cheney “in the same blind or had other opportunity for private conversation.”

Don’t you feel better? And can you just imagine what the right wing would have said if Vice President Biden had a case before the court and went duck hunting with Justice Elena Kagan?

Then there was the speech Scalia gave at Switzerland’s University of Fribourg a few weeks before the court was to hear a case involving the rights of Guantanamo detainees.

“I am astounded at the world reaction to Guantanamo,” he declared in response to a question. “We are in a war. We are capturing these people on the battlefield. We never gave a trial in civil courts to people captured in a war. War is war and it has never been the case that when you capture a combatant, you have to give them a jury trial in your civil courts. It’s a crazy idea to me.”

It was a fine speech for a campaign gathering, the appropriate venue for a man so eager to brand the things he disagrees with as crazy or mind-boggling. Scalia should free himself to pursue his true vocation. We can then use his resignation as an occasion for a searching debate over just how political this Supreme Court has become.

…My blog this morning was being monopolized by the business gentlemen from our beloved Great State of New York. Love the education – Thanks guys!

…Former President Hosni Mubarak doesn’t look very happy about the verdict of his life sentence. In my opinion he got off lucky; many wanted him dead.

The case against Mubarak, his sons, and top aides was very limited in scope, focusing only on the uprising’s first few days and two narrow corruption cases. It was never going to provide a full accountability of wrongdoing under Mubarak’s three decades of authoritarian rule enforced by a brutal police force and a coterie of businessmen linked to the regime who amassed wealth while nearly half of Egypt’s estimated 85 million people lived in poverty.

…If Romney became president, no doubt, our country would go a similar way of Egypt: Romney, his cronies and the other one-percenters would be the ones amassing all of the wealth, while nearly half, if not more, of our beloved country would live in poverty. Think not? Think again.

…If you’re planning on hopping on a plane to enjoy a summer vacation with family, you might be on the same plane, but don’t count on sitting together:

As much as you might like to give the gold medal to toilet seats when it comes to squeamishly germ-ridden locations, science suggests there are much “germier” places that you’re probably frequenting daily.

For example, one study found that each key on an ATM keypad harbors 1,200 germs, including E. coli and cold and flu viruses. The worst button is the “Enter” button, because everyone has to touch it. Flu viruses can survive on hard surfaces such as restaurant menus for as long as 18 hours, according to an article in Mental Flossⁱ. Some of the other dirtiest places and objects might surprise you:

…How bad the infrastructure is in this country:

According to Akamai, most Americans surf the web at 5.8 Mbps, making the U.S. the lucky number 13 on Akamai’s list. And which country is the world leader in terms of average connection speed? You’ll have to look through the slideshow to find out, but we’ll hint that it’s been the same country since at least 2007.

When you are being beaten by Latvia, Czech Republic, Hong Kong and South Korea we need to wake up. Nobody but President Obama and Progressives are thinking about the future of this country. The republicans are trying to drag this country kicking and screaming back to the 19th century.

Okay I know “just noticing” was founded on not “judging” but sometimes one can’t help it. That being said…

…Obama has been the best president, who has done the most for this country, than the past 43 presidents, and yet his presidency has brought out the worst in people, whose sole plan it to do anything and everything possible to prevent him from continuing to be the greatest.

Not “judging”…just a fact.

…The racists are at it again.

Patrick Lanzo, Georgia Bar Owner, Calls Obama ‘N*****’ On Road Sign Again

Georgia bar owner Patrick Lanzo of Paulding County has made habit of claiming he’s not racist, an argument that becomes harder to make each time he decides to display the n-word on a large roadside sign outside his establishment, the Georgia Peach Oyster Bar.

Lanzo’s latest message reads, “I do not support the n***** in the White House.” He recently told a local reporter that the offensive wording was not meant to be racist.

“I say just because you’re offended by it doesn’t mean you don’t have the right to say something just the opposite,” Lanzo said, according to a report from Atlanta’s Fox 5. “I don’t feel bad about anything whatsoever. Therefore, they can go out and put their own sign in their own yard and I will not be offended.”

Controversy is nothing new to Lanzo, who seems to bask in the negative attention each time he posts a new inflammatory message.

In 2009, Lanzo drew outrage with a sign that read, “Obama’s plan for health-care: n***** rig it.” Again Lanzo maintained it was just a simple health care protest and not racist, a strange claim considering he advertises his establishment as a “Klan Bar” and has a rich history of catering to some of the nation’s most notorious racist groups.

Asked why he had chosen those words to express his feelings on the matter, Lanzo replied, “Well, I’ve used it most of my life. There are different ways to put your opinion up, but that’s just the words I choose.”

Fox 5 reports that Paulding County officials know about the sign, but can’t do much about it. Unsuccessful protests have also been mounted by the NAACP, a group that Lanzo once told CBS Atlanta he was a member of. From previous coverage of his actions, his sign has been a longstanding issue in the area, as have the strange displays of prominent black leaders alongside racist imagery inside his bar.

Lanzo isn’t the first “not-racist” to protest against Obama with language that many would consider patently racist. Paula Smith, distributor of a much-maligned “Don’t re-nig in 2012″ anti-Obama bumper sticker, argued that neither she nor her product were actually racist.

Readers: To be so blatantly racist and then say that you are not meaning to be racist, is just such a lie. And to make an excuse that is it okay to use such language because “I’ve used it all of my life”, is just so cold and insensitive. And he advertises his Bar as ”Klan Bar”? This guy is a racist and a LSOS for even trying to deny it.

Sometimes while perusing the net, I come upon some strange shit.

Just noticing…

…a teen conservative magazine claims that Ronald Reagan was the first black president because he was far better to blacks than Obama has been.

Readers: This is incredible – Can you believe this crap? Just look at what this magazine is telling these kids. And the conservative parents just love it: “Hey, subscribe your kid to The Conservative Teen…teach them your set of values early on in life.” My translation: “Subscribe your kid to The Conservative Teen to indoctrinate them early on to your set of values“. And really…c’mon…”values”? We know about conservative “values”. Brainwash them into believing the lies, and teach them the art of hypocrisy, is more like it. We know they’re good at that.

After this post went viral, the magazine mysteriously disappeared from the Internet! The website is gone, the publisher won’t talk, and the man who registered the website can’t be found.

But no doubt something will be created to take its place.
