Political Animal
Posted by Michelle Moquin on July 7th, 2009
So, it’s been awhile since I’ve written about my four-legged pals. They are always on my mind and since a few things came across my plate this morning, I thought it was a good day to give them some blog time.
This is a California thing, so to all of you outside of California, bear with me. I have something for you to do too. :)
As much as I like to be active in world issues, California is my stomping ground and many times our actions here have a huge ripple affect across the nation. If we can prevent something or ban something from happening here, other states tend to see just what Californians are ‘fussing’ about. And most of the time we aren’t fussin’; were dealing with some serious issues. And in my mind, if it has anything to do with animals, it is a serious issue and one that is close to my heart.
Today, it’s about taking some political action for the animals.
Here’s what the Humane Society has to say:
Young animals sold on street corners, parking lots, and along roadsides are kept in terrible conditions. These dogs, cats, and other animals often lack food or water. They are kept in overcrowded, dirty cages in extreme temperatures. Commonly purchased on impulse, they are too often in poor health and die of illness days after being purchased. It is impossible for officials to ensure the welfare of animals as well as the safety of consumers if such random sales practices are allowed.
Fortunately, legislation (A.B. 1122) would prohibit the sale of puppies, kittens, and other animals on street corners and in parking lots. This bill has passed the Assembly and is now pending in a Senate committee.
So…what can you do? Simple. Take action. As usual, all it takes is one minute out of you day….one short phone call. Remember to leave your name and address so it is clear you are a constituent. You can say:
“Hello, my name is [your name] and I am calling from [your town]. As a constituent, I urge [your Senator] to support A.B. 1122 to prevent the sale of young animals on street corners. Good breeders keep puppies and kittens in their home, and allow potential buyers to see the animals in that safe environment. Please support this humane legislation. Thank you.”
So who is your State Senator for your district? – If you don’t know by now, let me inform you. Someone on Craig’s List posted this ad. Isn’t that fab? Someone actually took out an ad asking for Californians to participate and write letters to their Senators, and they’ve listed the Senators below – Easy. I love it.
Those of us fighting for the animals in Sacramento have done our part getting this bill this far. Now we need you to call, e-mail or fax a letter to legislators on the Senate Public Safety Committee. We are very close to passage of this bill.
Think of the consequnces in the reduction of animals sold here in California and the relief this would give Shelters and rescue organizations. Do this now or it will slip through your fingers. Telephone and fax numbers and e-mail addresses are below. Send this on to everyone you know who will respond. We need a blizzard of support on this one.
(If you recognize one of the names below as your State Senator, your response to that legislator is 10 times as important. They get very nervous about opposing a bill their constituents support. The web addresses will give you their websites and the communities they represent. We especially need Inglewood, East LA. Sacramento, Northern SF and Marin people to respond). Just write or call them and tell them you support this bill passing. Takes about a minute…
TAKE ACTION TODAY
These State Senators are on the committee that will consider A.B. 1122 TODAY – Tuesday, July 7. Please contact your State Senator below, today, and urge support for this humane legislation. Thank you!

And for those of you who don’t live in California wishing that today you could do something for the animals. Okay, here it is. This next task in not just a California thing. And again, this is real simple and only takes a minute.
Once again, the Animal Rescue Site needs more people to visit their site. The more people that do, the easier it is for them to meet their quota which gives them free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. Go to their site and click on the purple box ‘fund food for animals for free’. It won’t cost you a thing but I bet you’ll feel great afterwards knowing that you did a kind deed for the day. Okay? Click here for the website. Thank you!

Melanie: Thank you for posting about the treaty between the US and Russia in regards to our nuclear arms. This is so important, and worthy of a blog post. I am inspired. Thank you.
Anonymous: Thanks for the link. I have not been able to read it in its entirety but so far it is interesting.
Cindy: Healthcare reform has been on my mind for weeks. It is certainly blog worthy – many of you have given your two, and most of what you’ve said, I have felt the same way. I just haven’t taken the time to figure out what more I want to say about it that hasn’t already been said. I just haven’t been inspired to write about it and in fact I have pretty much ignored the subject. Maybe now since I’ve admitted that something will start the spark.
And speaking of health….
….Doug: Thanks for the post. Good info. The link doesn’t work, but your post is verified at Snopes.
Stay healthy peeps.

How to Stay Well on Vacation
Charles B. Inlander
People’s Medical Society
‘m always amazed when people devote hours and hours to planning their itineraries for vacations, while virtually ignoring any special measures for ensuring their health while they are away. Whether you are traveling to an exotic foreign destination, taking a cruise or simply spending a few weeks at the seashore, here’s what you need to know to protect yourself — and your family…
Plan for your health before you go. Pre-trip planning — as far ahead as possible — is crucial. If you are going overseas, for example, you may need vaccinations and preventive medications. To find out what shots and medicines are recommended, check the Web site of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at http://www.cdc.gov/travel/. Regardless of where you are traveling — even if it’s in Canada or Europe — check this Web site.
Important: Don’t wait until the last minute. Some antimalarial drugs, if needed, should be started three to four weeks before your trip, and some shots, such as those for hepatitis B, should be started about six months in advance.
Pack your medications. The Transportation Security Administration now recommends that prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications be kept in their original dispensers to help with the airport screening process. Also, pack everyday OTC health products that you may take for granted at home but that may not be easy to find if you get sick while abroad or even in a remote rural area of the US. This includes medications like Pepto Bismol or Imodium AD for diarrhea, contact lens supplies and any other medicines your doctor might recommend.
Use precautions on the way. Airplanes, which are often packed with runny-nosed kids and coughing adults, are prime areas for contracting an illness. But don’t blame the airplane air. Studies have shown that the filters airlines use are terrific at weeding out viruses and other germs in the air. The problem is what you touch! Passing a cup, reaching for the handle in the airplane bathroom or touching the traytop at your seat can expose you to a multitude of germs. Wash your hands often, carry antibacterial wipes when you don’t have access to soap, and keep your hands away from your mouth, nose and eyes. By taking these steps, you will dramatically lower your chances of getting sick. Follow these same strategies on cruise ships.
Staying well when you’re there. Jet lag is the number-one complaint among international (and even long-haul domestic) travelers. Take it easy for the first few days at your destination. Your body is still operating on its normal schedule. Also, watch what you eat when traveling, even here in the US, because sometimes food you’re not accustomed to can cause gastrointestinal upset. And pack light. One of the most common travel injuries is “traveler’s back,” a painful condition caused by hauling heavy suitcases and other travel bags. Finally, bring a list of your medical conditions and medications in case you need medical attention while you are away. Major hotel chains and travel agencies usually can provide a list of qualified physicians and hospitals available in the local area.
Health interviewed Charles B. Inlander, a Fogelsville, Pennsylvania-based consumer advocate and health-care consultant. He was the founding president of the nonprofit People’s Medical Society, a consumer advocacy organization credited with key improvements in the quality of US health care in the 1980s and 1990s, and is the author of 20 books, including Take This Book to the Hospital with You: A Consumer Guide to Surviving Your Hospital Stay(St. Martin’s).

We have our own Statute of Liberty.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
The Story Behind Guam’s Statue Of Liberty
By Jeff Marchesseault
GUAM – Maybe you’ve seen Guam’s miniature Statue of Liberty facing the Philippine Sea at Paseo. At eight feet high, it might not be as tall as the towering original at New York’s Ellis Island, but it stands for the same American dream of privilege, peace and opportunity.
And, as it turns out, this “little sister” of Lady Liberty is one among many bearing freedom’s torch.
According to a July 3rd feature appearing in the Kansas City star, we have the little-remembered Kansas City patriot and millionaire industrialist Jack P. Whitaker to thank for ordering 200 miniature replicas produced for distribution to towns across the nation.
GuamPortal.com describes the statue, thusly:
This replica of the Statue of Liberty stands in the Paseo de Susana at the entrance of Hagatna harbor and visible to boats approaching the harbor. The statue was constructed by the Boy Scouts of America in 1950 in observance of their 40th anniversary.
According to the Kansas City Star account of Whitaker’s efforts, that’s pretty accurate:
His quest grew out of his deep involvement as a leader with the Boy Scouts of America and their 40th national anniversary theme — “Strengthen the Arm of Liberty.”
Under his plan, Scout troops nationwide raised money and donated their own dimes to buy the $300 statues, each one alike, created in a Chicago foundry.
Between 1949 and 1951, only about 200 were ever produced, mostly for tiny towns in the Midwest and a few foreign shores.

I am on Guam. I live with my husband who is stationed here. I must say I have learned more about Guam from your comments here than I have from my 8 months here.
My sister turned me on to this blog. She has never been to Guam but she knows more about it than I do thanks to you a Mr. Peter’s comments.
You have set to a most needed task. That of informing the ignorant like me of America’s other proud citizens.

I had a conversation with a some associates. We were talking in general about many different things. I listened as the quotes of philosophers were brandished about in various forms of remembrance.
I began to mentally comprise a correlation between the more absurd quotes to the societal position of the deliverer.
It seems there was a direct correlation between the more ridiculous the reliance upon the idiotic quotes and the protection or perceived protection from peer or legal retribution the quoter believe he/she had.
For example the person who quoted proudly Friedrich Nietzsche’s “That which does not kill us makes us stronger,” was a man who had positioned himself in a way to make most of his illegal and amoral behavior immune from peer pressure or legal retribution.
Of course many ordinary people use that quote without understanding what they are saying. The next time some man quotes that ask him if he feels that a man or woman that is raped but not killed becomes stronger because of the rape?
Ask him if he feels that children who have been child abused but not killed are stronger because of he abuse.
Ask him if you chopped off his limbs but did not kill him if he would be stronger without those limbs? As he postures to come up with a stupid retort.
Say to him that if the Nazis had butt raped Nietzsche in a concentration camp while starving him wiithin an inch of his life he wouldn’t have made that stupid quote.

Military Push To Ban Smoking
By Jac Perry
GUAM – As the debate continues to intensify on the issue of tobacco use on Guam, recent news that the U.S. military is studying ways to eliminate tobacco use among all military services presents strong evidence to back the Guam Medical Society’s push to significantly raise the cost of cigarettes.
A study conducted by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) has revealed that the U.S. military “has nearly twice the smoking rate of the civilian population.”
Similarly, a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control revealed that one in three adults on Guam is a smoker and Guam’s smoking prevalence is 57% higher than the rest of the nation.
A July 1, 2009 Stars And Stripes article reports IOM’s call for an all-out ban on tobacco for all branches of the military within a deadline of 20 years.
The Department of Defense (DOD) and Veterans Affairs (VA) requested the study be conducted in order to address the high number of smokers among servicemembers.
According to Stars And Stripes:
More than 30 percent of servicemembers smoke or use tobacco, though smokeless tobacco use is less certain. Those people are more likely to drop out of basic training, have poor vision, leave the service within the first year, get sick and miss work, according to the study findings.
The panel, made up of 15 health care professionals, suggested the ban in order to diminish problems related to tobacco use.
The problems with smoking among servicemembers are the same we face with local smokers. People who smoke are sick more often, and if they continue to smoke, will develop illnesses that will continue to drive the cost of health care on Guam higher for all our residents. It also affects work productivity and attendance among employees that smoke, costing employers more.
With the expected military buildup, this proposed change to eliminate smoking will prove positive for Guam.
Recently, much media coverage has been devoted to the local medical community’s effort to cut the prevalence of smoking on Guam.
While Guam doctors implore political leaders to help break the island’s habit and thereby reduce the rate of crippling smoking-related illnesses, much of their pleading falls on deaf ears.
People are still smoking and are getting sick or will eventually develop an illness because of their tobacco habit. The number of illnesses, high morbidity rates and staggering costs do little to dissuade habitual smokers or curb new smokers on Guam.
When facing these facts, there is hardly another way to tackle the issue except to attempt to deter smokers by raising the costs of cigarettes. How else are we to answer to the exponential costs to treat smoking-related illnesses and the strain those costs place on communities?
Last month, Dr. Jerone Landstrom was selected to be the Guam Medical Society’s delegate to attend the American Medical Association’s annual conference where he presented a resolution in an effort to garner the support of the AMA to raise the prices for cigarette taxes on Guam.
While the AMA supports the efforts to raise cigarette taxes significantly, it has no legal standing or power, and its endorsement merely sends a strong message to our community and our leaders from an association that speaks for the majority of U.S. doctors.
Legislation to raise taxes on cigarettes has been introduced and is considered for referendum. Other bills proposing to eliminate smoking within specified proximities to entrances of structures and buildings and to control where smoking is permitted have also been introduced.
But the proposed bills may not be enough.
Guam Medical Society President Dr. Sam Friedman expressed gladness at the news that the U.S. military may propose an elimination of tobacco products across the board.
“The military is finally discovering what has been known for at least 30, more likely 40 years, that smokers are sicker more often than nonsmokers,” Friedman said.
Friedman has been a strong arm in the charge against big tobacco on Guam. “This is the one item on Guam which is causing a majority of cancers and deaths. It is ridiculous to talk of cancer therapy when most of them (cancers) are self-induced and are almost uniformly lethal when acquired.”
With the number of current military personnel residing on Guam and the proposed population of the buildup, “the more support to end smoking, the better,” Friedman said.
The Guam Medical Society will host the 4th Micronesian Medical Symposium from October 9 – 11 at the Guam Marriott Hotel. The conference will include international experts from the world over – USA, Sweden, Belgium, Australia and the Philippines to talk on “Cancer in the Islands.” With focus on the most frequently seen cancers in the Pacific, including lung, liver, prostate, colorectal, breast, HIV-associated cancers and public health concerns. This year the symposium will be co-hosted by the Department of Public Health and Social Services and the U.S. Navy.
While the conference will discuss cigarette smoking as a contributor to many cancers, it will not be a main topic during the symposium. “Unfortunately, (smoking will not be discussed) other than mentioning it in passing with lung and colorectal cancers. It is such a no-brainer that no time should be spent on it in a professional meeting,” Friedman added.
John Dela Rosa and Jeff Marchesseault contributed to this story.

Michelle,
Like you I have been a little behind on the health care issue. I checked and found this quote from Obama.
“I am pleased by the progress we’re making on health care reform and still believe, as I’ve said before, that one of the best ways to bring down costs, provide more choices, and assure quality is a public option that will force the insurance companies to compete and keep them honest,” read the statement. “I look forward to a final product that achieves these very important goals.”
It seems that he has our best interest at heart.

So where are the TAO?
July 7th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
I have never felt that President Obama was about to betray the millions who pinned their hope on him and the passage of a public option until now. They are really not trying at all. They are probably on collusion with the insurance industry. I cannot help but feel that way.

My bottom-line criteria is that it has to be strong, national, and available to everyone on day one, Schumer.
Well, Dems; all I can say is chopchop Get with the program. We do Not want to compromise with the vested interests that brought our health care system to this sorry pass.
Time for Change. and Big Change. not nambypamby appeasement change.

Did you hear about the race here in England at Churchill Downs that featured a horse called Guam Typhoon?
A June 16, 2009 Churchill Downs review posted in the Daily Racing Forum notes that the young horse is turning heads at a tender age:

Dam represented by two winners
The dam La Cucina had two winners here last weekend. Not only did her 4-year-old filly, Miss Isella, win the Fleur de Lis, but her 3-year-old colt, Guam Typhoon, was impressive in capturing an entry-level allowance race here the previous evening.
Miss Isella is by Silver Charm, and Guam Typhoon is by Distorted Humor. Both horses are owned by Elaine Jones and trained by Wilkes.

I am white but I am starting to become afraid of my people. I mean the 55% who voted for McCain. The recent poll of republicans said that 74% of the party would vote for Sarah Palin for president.
About now I am ashamed of those idiots. Face it that 74% is about 95% white. What are we drinking that the rest of Americans aren’t?
This is scary. The pundits say the dems may be under estimating Palin. I don’t think that is the issue. The issue is the dems refusal to believe how ignorant the majority of whites are in this country and who they would be willing to elect as president.
Most whites would elect a white dog as president before they woudl cast their vote for an OTW. They would process and accept any reason why a white dog would be a better representative than the OTW candidate.
It frightens the hell out of me to say it, but George may be right if my race could manage to fire up some ovens, it seems that the majority of my race would happily toss the OTWs into them.
They would drop down to knee and praise the Lord that evil has been purged from the country. The real problem is that so many of my people of the 45% refuse to believe how dangerous that 55% really is.
We don’t want to accept that the majority of our race are idiots, bigots, and sick hypocrites that would do whatever they think they can get away with to the OTWs of this country.
Those of us who belong to that 45% had better consider that after they finish with the OTWs they will turn their attention to us. We will either have to conform to their lunacy or be dealt with in whatever way their leaders allow them to.
So those of us who are willing to look the other way because we don’t feel we will be endangered by “white only” politics, had better act even if it is just in our own self interest.
These are scary times.

Robert:
I know what you speak of when you talk about people who cite the quotes of people who were looking to justify their actions to justfy their actions. What did I just say? Oh well, How about this quote?
——————————————–
Wine and Water
To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine..and those who don’t.
As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.
In a number of carefully controlled trials,
Scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli,
(E. Coli) – bacteria found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming
1 kilo of poop.
However, we do NOT run that risk when
Drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whisky or other liquor), because alcohol has to go
through a purification
Process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.
Remember:
Water = Poop, Wine = Health .
Therefore, it’s better to drink wine and talk stupid,
Than to drink water and be full of shit.

Joyce, I’m with you. I used to belong to the party of hate. I left it because it is the party of hate because it represents constituents who hate anyone who is not white. I am white but I don’t hate because of race, color, sex, religion, or sexual orientation.
I am a fiscal conservative so I will become an independent. The dems are to spend crazy for me. But I never thought I would ever say it but, yes Joyce the republican party scares me too, or rather that 55% who represents the party.
Hopefully, more of us will leave the party and lower that 55% considerably. I can hope can’t I?

On a non-political note, and you’ve been writing about relationships lately, Misch, I stumbled onto a site after being confronted by a friend about some male/female relationship ‘truisms’ – I bristled at his statements at the time and of course, did research…WOW, is all I can say, I knew more than I thought I did at the age of seventeen, check it out ladies, you won’t be sorry. And there’s more coming later ths week, I am totally onto something ; )

Zen Lill:
That “WOW” peaked my interest. I hurried to your blog to catch the excitement.
I hate to bust your bubble but you have just been fed a bunch of bull by some man with a mission to subliminally f**k a woman’s mind.
The woman’s problem stems from her natural emotional make up. She looks for love first and a man looks for sex first. A woman is not taught to look for love first by society that is the natural identification women have with their environment.
That is why a mother’s love is different from a father’s love. A woman sacrifices her life for her children because she loves them on an instinctual level. Look at the animal world. The female protects because of instinct.
Men sacrifice their lives for their children to be remembered as heros. They do it for themselves. Look at the animal world. The male animal protects to continue to claim the right to mate with the female(s).
Men have several relationships at a time. They do it because they are looking to please themselves.
Women have one relationship at a time. They do it because they are looking to please the man they love.
There is no “truism” to be discovered. There is only a need to understand that scientifically men and women are genetically hardwired differently.
Men love themselves more than anyone else. Hence man manufactures the emotion of God, country, and true love. Men who believe in none of those manufacture the greatness of those three iconic sacrifices.
They invented the romantic concept of “Heroism” to honor the sacrifices to those three icons . They invented the concept of medals so to satisfy man’s need to have others recognize his heroism. They did it to motivate men to die for them to reach the top of the heap. They know themselves very well. Hence they know how to motivate other men to sacrifice their lives and goals for theirs.
———————————————————————————————————-
If women want to effect a change in the balance of power men have in a relationship, they need only advise their daughters to date more than one man at a time. If she decides to sleep with more than one man at a time, she will be able to see her male relationships in a more critical way.
After that it will not matter who she choses to marry, shack up with or date. They will just be men with more or less characteristics than the ones she was with before. She will have what men have: Experience in comparing two or more potential mates without the confusion of overwhelming emotional attachment.
=============================================================
Now, lets look at the bullS**t you were given as “truisms.”
#1 Women most often initiate marriage – 80% of the time (oh yes, that biological clock, need for kidlets, a chance to prove our ‘naturally monogamous’ tendencies? – yeah, right ; )
This is the biggest lie. Men are as competitive as their animal counterparts in nature. Hence they are always alert to single out the best female for themselves. More often than not this usually means the – the best one he can get to accept his proposal.
What genetically tells a male is his ideal sex partner(woman) is influenced by societal standards and peer pressure. Hence he seeks to impress his peers over his passion. Thus he may pass up the known “been f**ked by many” for the almost as fine has not. Not that he doesn’t know that she hasn’t “been f**ked by many”, but that his peers don’t know.
Peer pressure will make a man marry a woman who is known to have slept around if she is famous or the men are famous. This should tell women that it does not really matter if she sleeps around as much as who she sleeps around with and or who she becomes after she is known to sleep around.
Oh and the biological clock. That is just another tool to use to get the woman he has designs on to marry him over waiting to check out her options.
———————————————————————————————
#2 Women initiate 70-75% of divorces…
This one is hardly worth the effort to disprove. How many men will put up with a nagging woman? How many men would stay with a woman none publicly to have cheated on him? How many men will stay in a marriage with a woman who has greater status and attention than he has? How many men will stay in a marriage with a woman who is terrible with the traditional women chores whether she works or not? Etc, etc, etc.
Women suffer all kinds of indignation’s, humiliations, infidelities, and physical cruelties to stay married to a man. How a woman could even consider that women initiate 70-75% of divorces says a lot about the effectiveness of subliminal power.
———————————————————————————————————–
#3 90% of men do not want to get married.
The short answer to this one is see #1. Every man wants to get married because the selfishness of his nature says he wants to be remembered, revered, and taken care of when he is unable to do so for himself. These things require that he have a wife. He wants his legacy to be legal, children to carry on his name, a catch to be envied for, and someone to pick up after him.
Men are by nature incompetent in the mating arena. They want to get that free piece of p***y to stash at home so that they can play around without pressure because they know that if they fail on any given night the wife is waiting at home to spread her legs for him. That is why the married man is ALWAYS the more successful predator in the sexual arena.
The “90% of men do not want to get married” bulls**t is again just another way of making the prey think she is not being hunted.
——————————————————————————————————–
I could take the time to dissect those two paragraph seeking to validate #!, #2, and #3. But if you have been paying attention, you can see right through the bulls**t.
Sorry, Zen Lill you did not have an epiphany. You had a brain freeze brought on by a clever man’s bulls**it.

Aaaah, but Robert : ) you didn’t read the bottom or click through to the site ‘women’s fidelity’ bc I am not disputing the BS factor of this male. He’s just pretending not to circle his wagon bc he sees others clearly circling also, doesn’t like the competition : ) and I imagine keeping a women a bit off balance with bs might work, unless you’re talking to me ; )he’ll either get it or get the ditch.
I am thanking him bc via research I found the site and THAT is the epiphany part, allow me to insert that paragraph bc I know you must’ve gotten tired of reading : ) by the way, the 70-75% of women initiating divorces currently is accurate, a few sites suggested higher. Go figure…this makes me think you are single, am I right? Not a slight, just a guess, you know I think you’re bright, single or not ; ) I’ve also seen that bio clock send some women into the most unlikely of male arms, believe me.
I’ll go with you re: men want to be married and this one I openly challenged this man on, it was hilarious to say the least, when I get feisty, I get feisty, I think he enjoyed the scene, maybe that’s why he throws out this type of bs, that or he’s a mysogonist/sexist?! Here’s that para for you, try the click through on the site, this woman wrote the stages of women’s sexuality with such accuracy, that also was the wow, there’ll be more on her ebook later in the week.
‘…Society makes it difficult for women to make a conscious decision about marriage, let alone fidelity. Girls have always been taught from a young age that men do not want to marry women who have been with numerous sexual partners. At the same time, we entice girls with romantic notions surrounding meeting the right man, getting married and living happily ever after. Many women end up denying and/or suppressing their natural sexual desires in order to get married. ***natural sexual desires***
These two beliefs are taught simultaneously to girls and they are the cause of many women’s high and unrealistic expectations of marriage. Men, on the other hand, are taught that marriage is definitely something they’ll want to postpone. Marriage for men means loss of freedom and a reduction in sexual partners. So men have a lower expectation of marriage from the beginning. Women are more likely to be let down by marriage; it just isn’t as great as they thought it was going to be. But men may find that it’s better than they thought, since many of them had expected it to suck in the first place. Men have nowhere to go but up and women have nowhere to go but down due to their preconceived expectations. ***love the part that men expected it to suck in the first place, take all of it with a grain of salt, she’s angry – but don’t women have the right to be? see above, the suppression of ***natural sexual desires*** women and girls get sold a bill of goods early on about how they need to be sexually demure, blah blah blah…the truth is men don’t want their ability and pecker size compared to another man for fear of not measuring up or pleasuring up, and that’s a fact, Jack!

Robert why are you spilling the men’s secrets? I like it better when a woman thinks she has to chase me into marriage.
What do you think Chamorros? I have some more bad news on the island we have three more confirmed cases of swine flu.

Published Jul 8, 2009
The Department of Public Health says there are three more confirmed cases of the H1N1 Influenza Virus. According to a media release two of the newly confirmed cases are household contacts to the first case/index patient and the third case is an unrelated case from a private clinic. These individuals have been on voluntary home isolation and their contacts have been under close surveillance.
All of the confirmed cases are recovering well without any complications at this time. It was close to two weeks ago a female federal Department of Defense employee at Andersen Air Force Base was confirmed to have contracted the illness after recently traveling to Texas. Meanwhile there are several everyday actions that can help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like influenza.
DPHSS strongly continues to urge the shared responsibility of being proactive and take these everyday steps to protect your health:
• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
• Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
• Stay home if you are sick for seven days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer. This is to keep from infecting others and spreading the virus further.

Hey Robert, on another note, I went back and reread my entry, it’s much to complimentary to said man, hahaha…ego strokin’ ass that I am, some habits die hard, ah well, that’s not true – I called him out in person (hard) and thought he could use a break (just the written one, in person he got a ‘you think on your subject’ physical break as well). – but the truisms, a few are and a few are not. There wouldn’t be people marrying once, twice, three times if men didn’t want to, they have a vested interest in doing the deal, if only for your very descriptive reasoning, though I’d like to dispute you on that, it’s probably true (the extra pussy at home thing). Usually, but not always, when women cheat they’ve exited the sexual arena with the hub, so there’s no ‘extra’ penis in case they strike out at a bar (had enough of that ‘been there, done that’ to want it).
Hey, always feel free to shoot holes in my entries, I love it, I’m not fragile and any illumination (or non-illumination) on any subject is always welcome by me : ) – ZL

Very funny, Peter : ) but the secret is out and has been.
I told this particular man that I must have dated the whole friggin’ 10% who were interested in being married then (out of the said 90% who were not interested) – shot that theory straight to hell, it was fun.
Ok, Now I am outta here, for good tonight, seriously – Zen Lill

I am aware of the stats. But if you believe that, then I have some beach front property in Arizona I’d like to sell you.
Yes, I am single, now. And I like most men didn’t have to initiate the divorce proceedings. Men take action as soon as they are no longer happy in the union. They fact that we are still married is but a small inconvenience to be handled by the woman or by us when it becomes beneficial to us.
A woman’s biological clock is no different from a man’s desire to take his desire off the market. We just go about it differently.
I’ve seen some men do the craziest things to win their coveted woman over, including resorting to violence or threats.
I didn’t get the click through on the site. Perhaps you could re post the link.

Sorry, Zen Lill that is crap. I have a daughter and four nieces who I raised. They all have dated more than one man at a time and so have most of their girlfriends because I encouraged them to do so and I suppose they encouraged their friends to do like wise.
None of my nieces are divorced. My daughter has chosen not to marry yet. Men are not mysteries to discover during the marriage. They are decisions to make like the rest of life.
Girls are not the victims of society. Girls are the victims of their mothers. Men encourage their sons to play around. Mothers should encourage their daughters to date more than one male at a time.
The real culprit is nature. If you re read what I wrote previously, the part that explains the nature of the female would give you pause to reason that women seek love with one man at a time not because of some taboo against sleeping around. A woman does it because she is looking for love, romance, companionship not sex.
It is that simple. The rest is just pap. Common sense should tell you the average man would not know if he were marring a woman that has had 3 or 300 sex partners. You are repeating silly bulls**t. Today’s woman knows that a man doesn’t know s**t about who they have been to bed with.
No one is enticing girls with notions surrounding meeting the right man. A woman is hard wired to seek a relationship over sex. Hence she seeks literature that validates her state of mind. Society may provide her with the availability of the material, but you can chalk that up to commercialism rather than some nefarious desire of society to brainwash girls.
Women who have sexual relations with one man at a time are always denying or suppressing their sexual desires. But it isn’t to get married, it is their nature because they are seeking a relationship not just sex.
How many times will I have to repeat to you that if one only has sex with one partner at a time there can be no real comparison between two or more partners. There can only be repetition of the behavior to get a new partner once the old relationship has dissolved.
Read this carefully. If you are dating only one man at a time, if you are sleeping with only one man at a time, you are not making a choice between mates. You are settling for the man who convinced you to settle for him. If the relationship ends you will simply be repeating the procedure.
Essentially women are getting married without the paper work or the legal benefits every time they enter into a relationship while the man is just dating. Society did not have any thing to do with that. That is the woman’s choice.
As Howie pointed out about the vote, and Madaline does when she discusses women, women should woman up. The decision to date more than one man at a time is theirs. If they don’t vote to do it with their mind, then they don’t have the right to complain when they give the man the right to make the choices.
What you are doing is blaming society for a conscious decision by women to please their companions by only having sex with him. It is the intimacies that go with other than casual sex that allows a person to learn more about the personality of the other person.
Hence a woman needs to be in a relationship with more than one man at a time if she is searching for a life long mate.

That is so ridiculous as to not be worth the time it took to print or copy it. Women spend their entire dating lives in mini marriages. There is no difference between what they give their men in those relationships than the one they give the man after they get the paper. Unfortunately for them that is true for the man too.
It has nothing to do with “expectations.” Women expect their relationships to last but they don’t. Why do you think more than 50% of all marriages end in divorce. It mirrors relationships.
It has nothing to do with “suppressing natural sexual desires.” Women are suppressing “natural sexual desires” in most of their relationships. It is the men who aren’t. How is that different from marriage?
My advice to you is the same as Howie”s was. Quit feeding women that bullshit. Tell them to start dating more than one man at a time. Engage in more than one relationship at a time. Compare the emotional feelings each brings to her senses. Let time and maturity help her arrive at a choice between the two or allow herself to drop one and replace that with another more satisfying relationship so that she is constantly juggling at least two serious relationships until she is ready to settle for her choice.
One must have options of two or more to make a choice. Otherwise you are being chosen by your environmental circumstances. So either choose or be chosen.
But resist making excuses for not making a choice.

It is 7 PM Wednesday July 8th, 2009. I checked in before I headed for home. Now I am sitting hear reading what you wrote Robert.
I am on 19. But what you wrote is powerful. I am in a relationship. I don’t sleep around. I don’t even allow other men to flirt with me. Well, I don’t flirt back if they do. This is only my second serious relationship.
Guam is too small for me to have a second serious relationship, but after reading you, I sure would like to try.
My boyfriend is very different than my first serious relationship. But as you said I am doing what i did in the first one. I am giving all of me to him and hoping that he is doing the same.
I may not be thinking about marriage but what is the difference, he is getting a marriage from me without the paper work. Am I getting the same from him?
Your writing makes me uneasy. But it makes a lot of sense too. On Guam if I try to have a serious relationship with more than one man at a time, I will be considered a slut.
I have had offers from some males that I would have dated had I not been in this relationship. At the rate of only one boyfriend at time, I will have had only 3 or 4 relationships before it will be time for me to start seriously looking for a life long mate.
I don’t dare say more because I am so well known. But I will be passing on your words to all my friends, family and any female I meet.
Peter
It’s out!
Robert, I’ll bet you will make some woman a very good mate, if you are not already in one. I am sorry that I haven’t paid much attention to your comments in the past. But i promise I will check them out in the archives.

Hi Robert, your ppoints are well taken, but, I must say that your suggestions is easier said than done. I did that ‘serious dating’ of 3 at a time for a span in my ealry years, it – logistically speaking is a nightmare, it taught me the art of excuse-making (they all want that Sat night date) and I found that I craved time alone and hang time with friends along with all that schoolwork and work, it was in a word exhausting. I was lucky, they lived far enough away form each other and I was a loner in terms of who knew what about this time in my life bc as Anna of Guam pointed out, a girl will get labelled even though she has good intentions. I grew up in Connecticut and back in the day, if a girl/young woman did that openly, yes you were labelled, I flew way under the radar bc I chose to take an apartment a half hour away form where I grew up and dated vastly different men living in different towns, just luck there : )
BUT – for good or bad or just lack of time and energy exerted (unless they’re all named BOB, it takes work) I prefer one at a time, marriage, mini-marriages, whatever…
I printed a retraction para at my site due to your comments here and my inbox of emailers, a lot of men backed up your men wanting marriage and men initiating marriage, it was funny to see how vehemently men were on the subject. The divorce initiation percentage # I still stand by – I do know men who are absolutely miserable, they just know that laws are against them and secretly, they fear their woman witholding kid visits and that’s no lie, Robert.
Thanks for your insights, whether I agree with all of them or not – Zen Lill

PS I could’ve edited my own blog entry better, I am sorry, but, Robert, the ‘natural suppression of sexual urges’ part was intended to mean within the very long term monogamous relationship, where society and men tend to think it’s easier for females, it’s not : ) – ZL
