Hellooo 2010…Wholeness, Life Forces, And The Sun’s Energy

Happy New Year!
Whether you call it ‘twenty ten, ‘two thousand ten’ ’2K10′, ‘two o, one o’, or whatever else, it is a new year, that is for sure. And being that my fave number is ‘three’, and all of the symbolism around the number three, I think it’s gonna be a wonderful year for me, and all of you too.
Remember when I pulled a Rune? I blogged about Runes back in March of last year. I decided to pull one this morning again for our beloved planet. I pulled the Rune Sowelu, Wholeness, Life forces, The Sun’s energy.
Sowelu stands for WHOLENESS, that which your true nature requires. It embodies the impulse towards self realization and indicates a path you must follow, not from ulterior motives, but from the core of your individuality.
Seeking WHOLENESS is the spiritual warrior’s true quest. And yet what you are striving to become in actuality, is what you by nature already are. You must become conscious of your essence and bring it into form, express it in a creative way. A Rune of great power, making life force available to you, Sowelu marks a time for regeneration right down to the cellular level.
Although this Rune has no ‘reversed position’, there is a reason for caution. You may see fit to withdraw, to retreat in the face of pressing situation, especially if events or people are demanding that you expend your energy now. Know that such a retreat is a retreat in strength, and that it can indicate the need for a voyage inward for centering, for balance. Timely retreat is among the skills of the Spiritual Warrior.
At the same time, for some this Rune counsels opening yourself up, letting the Light into a part of your life that has been secret, shut away. To accomplish this may call for profound recognition, for admitting to yourself something that you have denied.
There is a prayer known as the Gayatri that embodies the spirit of Sowelu. Address the Sun in this fashion:
You who are the source of all power,
Whose rays illuminate the whole world,
illuminate also my heart
so that it too can do Your work.
While reciting the Gayatri, visualize the Sun’s rays streaming forth into the world, entering your own heart, and then streaming out from your heart center, back into the world. This is a powerful, life enhancing prayer.
Again, there is caution here not to give yourself airs. Even in a time of bountiful energy, you are required to face and vanquish your refusal to let right action flow through you. Nourish this capacity, for it is a mark of true humility.
Practice the art of doing without doing: Aim yourself truly and then maintain your aim without manipulative effort. For by our own power we do nothing. Even in loving, it is love that loved through us. This way of thinking and being integrates new energies and permits you to flow into wholeness, which is the ultimate goal of the Spiritual Warrior.
After reading the meaning of this Rune Sowelu, I was so excited. Could there have been a more appropriate Rune to pull for our beloved planet than one that represents Wholeness? Wholeness for the planet, and all of its inhabitants – how beautiful.
I have always been a big fan of the Sun as you know. :) The Sun graces us all no matter where we are on this planet. If you believe in the power of collective intention, as I do, we can all address the Sun with the above prayer…the Sun’s rays streaming from our hearts back out into the world. I just love this.
And a gentle reminder….let’s heed the warning of remaining humble throughout – there is no ego in this spreading of love and joy etc…we are only portals through which these Sun energies flow through us, out into the world, creating Wholeness.
Readers: I think creating Wholeness is a wonderful new year’s resolution for our planet and all. What do to you think? Can you be part of the collective intention of Wholeness, by addressing the Sun? Also, how does the Rune Sowelu apply to you, if at all, personally? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Blog me.
Have a beautiful first day of a new year! Let’s make it a grand year – Okay?!
Gratefully your blog host,

Right on, amen and every other statement of agreement and gratitude for this post, it’s meaning and sentiment for our planet and my own life. A perfect rune to start the new year!
I just finished watching a bunch of playful whales and dolphins work their way down the coast as I walked along the jagged cliffs, an outstanding time and place to take in the sun and send out personal positive energy.
I wish you all a great new beginning.

BEAT THE FLU AND COLDS WITH PROBIOTICS
By now you’ve seen the commercials for probiotics that promise to correct your digestive disturbances, but you may not be aware that they offer another important benefit — fewer runny noses, fevers and coughs.
The digestive system acts as “command central” for the immune system, explains Leo Galland, MD, director of the Foundation for Integrated Medicine in New York City and author of the e-book The Heartburn and Indigestion Solution.
A recent study demonstrated that pumping up your intestinal balance of healthy bacteria is a safe and effective way to cut back on cold and flu risk.
FEWER FEVERS, FEWER COUGHS, FEWER ANTIBIOTICS
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial at multiple sites, doctors randomly assigned 326 healthy children ages three to five to receive a placebo or a probiotic supplement (Lactobacillus acidophilus alone or Lactobacillus in combination with Bifidobacterium animalis) twice a day for six months. Researchers witnessed positive outcomes in children given Lactobacillus only — and even more dramatic improvement in those administered the combination probiotic…
• Of the 91 children absent from school at least one day, 51 were from the placebo group — while each of the groups that received probiotics had only 20 absentees.
• Lactobacillus reduced the incidence of fever by 53%, coughs by 41% and runny noses by 28%, in comparison with placebo.
• The combination of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium lowered fever incidence by 73%, coughs by 62% and runny noses by 59%, as compared with placebo.
• Antibiotic use was reduced by 68% (single strain) or 84% (combination strain), relative to placebo.
These results appeared in the August 2009 edition of Pediatrics. Dr. Galland notes that while this research was done with children, it confirms previous research that showed probiotics to be highly beneficial to adults as well.
TAKE A DAILY PROBIOTIC… YEAR ROUND
To establish a proper bacterial balance in your digestive system and enhance your immunity, Dr. Galland recommends that you ask your physician whether you should be taking a daily probiotic supplement — not just during cold and flu season, since in reality your body is under assault by germs year round. Dietary sources, including yogurt or kefir and also fermented foods, such as unpasteurized sauerkraut (note: most commercial brands are pasteurized), are also helpful in supporting positive intestinal flora, but Dr. Galland told me they cannot do the job alone.
Your body may require the more massive quantities of healthful bacteria provided by supplements to offset and overwhelm the influence of negative microbes.
Dr. Galland does not endorse any particular probiotic brand, but — given various study results — advises working with your doctor to choose one that contains both strains of protective bacteria, Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. These often are prescribed with meals once a day or in two divided doses for a total of 20 billion CFUs (colony forming units) daily. If you experience stomach upset, stop using them and consult your doctor.
Having the right microbial balance in your body’s “ecosystem” will help to stimulate your immune system to keep you healthy and on the go this flu season and beyond, says Dr. Galland. For more information, visit his Web site at http://fatresistancediet.com/alternative-medicine/gerd.
