Injustice and Bigotry At Its Best.

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 6th October 2008

Wow. Once again, there is animosity that is flaring up on my blog. It just goes to show you that people are not truly citizens of the world…that there is still much hatred and pointing fingers between different countries. Or in this case most recently, countries pointing at us in hatred.

I think Doug has a good point. Use your power and bitch to the UN. If so many countries feel this way about the US, then band together and do something about it and stop complaining. If we’re going to have to be responsible for the officials that we elected, regardless of whether some of us elected them, you certainly have to be responsible for the officials you elected who are in bed with ours.

South Africa: Who said America was fair? Life isn’t fair; I’m sure everyone can agree. Unfair trials have been going on for years. Does that mean it is right? No. But you ‘opining’ about how quick we are to judge is right ‘back at ya’ when you admit that you are doing the same in your country to the blacks. We could keep going back and forth until we’re blue in the face. When you’re pointing out one finger at the perpetrator, how many fingers are pointing back at you? No one is innocent here. We have proven that we have a long way to go as a world society.

As far as O.J. is concerned, and writing about it on my blog…why the attack Lashkar Gah? Quick  to comment on your men being cruel to you? I think not. Your men are cruel to you daily. I could’ve written about this years ago but I didn’t have this blog then….so sorry. I could write about it daily and I still would be too slow to get it out there.

You know as well as any other readers that I am pretty current when it comes to my blog, or at least I try my best to be.  O.J. has been on my mind, and I have been reading and checking my sources in preparation of this write. I was planning on blogging about it today, Monday.  Is that okay with you?

Okay, I don’t want to get heated like some of you are…So…onto the topic.

Doug and I went out to dinner last night with Elliot and Tracey and of course I wanted to ask Elliot what his thoughts were about O.J. and the recent trial. If you remember awhile back, I had blogged about a book that Elliot had given us, and a movie that he was promoting based on the innocence of O.J. For you newbie readers, the article that I blogged will tell you more about the movie. However, you might be especially interested in reading comment #6 from Tal our resident alien. He offered some very enligtening information about the murders that only few people would ever know.

Anyway, and like all of you readers that have commented, we all agreed that the trial was totally unfair. I mean how could you not think that?  An all white trial!  I mean really…a perfect jury for the prosecution. It was not possible to have a verdict other than ‘guilty’.  The prosecution won the moment the jury was chosen. I don’t care how much one tries to find an unbiased jury, if you aren’t going to mix it up racially there is going to be bias and racism present.  And the verdict proves there clearly was.  If this was a white man on trial with an entire black jury, it would never fly. People would be screaming. But with O.J.: Totally acceptable. This is injustice and bigotry at its best.

There is no doubt in my mind that he did not have a fair trial. I mean to find him guilty on EVERY account; all 15! Come on….these jurors are bigots. They, like many people out there,  wanted him convicted. All they can remember is the trial 13 years ago. For years they have  believed from the get go that he was guilty. Forget that he went to trial. Forget that there wasn’t any evidence to prove that he was  guilty.  He did not ‘get off’; O.J. was acquitted!  But  people already had made up there minds  long ago and for years they have been waiting for this moment to convict him. And as Spain pointed out, ‘This was an old fashioned lynching.’ I agree.  These jurors are all just feeling quite smug knowing that no one else could convict O.J., and they did.

For months now I have had the idea of having a guest blogger write on my blog.  I have never invited anyone but after speaking with Elliot last night I thought he would be an excellent person to add to the mix here today. Elliot was glued to the media when it came to the O.J. trial. He has always felt that O.J. was innocent and has for years been expressing his thoughts. When he discovered that Doug and I felt the same way, our common interest engaged us all in some interesting conversation.

So last night I asked Elliot to write something up…thoughts that he would want to share with you. Elliot is a local writer, a film instructor, and a good friend of ours. So here it is:

Back in February of this year there were a number of comments made on this site regarding O.J. Simpson’s original 1995 murder trial. The comments sprang forth as a result of a then current documentary film called THE OVERLOOKED SUSPECT. In that film (as well as the book that inspired it) author / private investigator William Dear proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that O. J. Simpson did not—repeat, DID NOT—kill Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Mr. Dear doesn’t merely speculate this assertion, but provides shocking, hard evidence (the result of a painstaking, twelve year investigation) that proves conclusively that the actual killer was Jason Simpson, O. J.’s   tremendously troubled (then) 24-year-old son from his first marriage. Jason’s motives were complicated and tinged with tragic implications worthy of Shakespeare: O. J. willingly stood trial for a pair of crimes he knew his son had committed. The fact that he was acquitted of thesecrimes in a court of law somehow eluded the American public and for the past thirteen years the vast majority of white America has clung to the belief that O. J. is a vicious, cold-blooded murderer. It has been nearly impossible to find anyone who believes otherwise. Unless of course they either read William Dear’s book or saw the film. And sadly, very few people have because very few people care to have their belief systems overturned.

Now, thirteen years to the day later, O.J. Simpson has been found guilty of no fewer than twelve felony counts including kidnapping, robbery and coercion (all with a deadly weapon) stemming from an incident in Las Vegas in September 2007. The Goldmans (family members of Ron Goldman) are already gloating over the fact that their ongoing harassment of Simpson actually led him to commit the Las Vegas crimes leaving open the suspicion that they might have been party to a blatant set-up that virtually assured an arrest. O. J. will be sentenced on December 5 and could very likely be put away for life. Millions of white Americans will deliriously claim that justice has been served and that a deranged murderer will finally get what he deserves. The sad truth is that an innocent man has most likely been set-up (literally) by bloodthirsty, vindictive ghouls determined to satisfy their own sick desires. This is a shameful moment of which no one should feel the slightest bit proud. We live in a nation that supports the suppression of truth and encourages hatred against minority races and the Simpson saga is ample proof of this.

It’s time for people to put aside their preconceived notions and acknowledge the truth about O.J. Simpson. For clarification on the 1994 killings, I seriously recommend obtaining a copy of William Dear’s book O. J. IS GUILTY BUT NOT OF MURDER or watching the film based on it, THE OVERLOOKED SUSPECT. Information can be found at www.theoverlookedsuspect.com .

Well said Elliot! The one thing I never thought of in this case was that the Goldman family could be behind the set up as Elliot pointed out. Did that occur to any of you out there? It looks like they finally got their payback.

I have to say that I truly feel sorry for O.J.  And I doubt that I am the majority here. It was not enough to convict him in their minds even though he was acquitted of murder. It was not enough that he has had to live with many people feeling that he ‘got off’ and he should be in jail. No they had to convict him by giving him an unfair trail with a jury that had made their minds up 13 years ago.

Thanks Elliot for sharing your mind!

Readers:  I have heard of from some of you already. Anyone else? Blog me.

Hey Anonz:  I just saw your comment – will read later…I am running late and I must post.

Peace everyone.

Love this video. It speaks to the stupid ones out there who feel that their vote doesn’t count. Make your vote count! Register today. Already registered? Then make sure you get off your ass and vote on voting day.  It’s really that simple.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Doug:  Inspiring words. It does take courage and a willingness to change. But are people willing to be honest and willing to make the changes needed?  Or do they just not give a shit about anything but their own needs? Plus people are big ‘L’…
Zen Lill: Oh when you say you are going to say something, you don’t hold back. Maybe it is time I give an order and let Anonz handle his own. Or maybe a deal needs to be struck. Eh? Are we still on for a little tête-à-tête later on this afternoon?
Peter: You are so right. Blame it on the 90 year old woman who tried to commit suicide by shooting herself because she couldn’t make her mortgage payment. Unfortunately she didn’t die, so now she has to live her last years out not how she planned. NOW the banks are going to help her. And you’re so right about the children who don’t even have a voice but they worry where their next meal is going to come from because their parents are stupid and they signed a bad loan that they now can’t pay.  Yes they are true abettors.
Hi Maddie:  How are ya?  Busy I know. Nothing new but always a good reminder. Wish the Girls well for me. Got it on the typos – I understand.
Spain and England: Ditto on your thoughts about Palin. We treat Hollywood like the royalty that we don’t have. Yes if she were a man she would be laughed out. How I wish she were.  And yes once again, Americans are stupid. Hopefully the smarter ones will prevail this time.
Signing off…
‘It’s so easy to give something up you don’t have’
Posted by michellemoquin on 4th October 2008
‘It’s so easy to give something up you don’t have’ – That was once said by Anonz a bit ago. I have had the same experience lately when speaking to a friend who was so willing to stick with the republican party even with the risk that his daughter might lose the rights over her body. His answer? ‘It doesn’t matter we won’t be here; we’ll live overseas.’   Oh okay, so because you’re leaving you could care less about the rest of us here stuck with a repug administration? Then why the fuck vote Republican, supporting your party, just to say, ‘fuck ‘em and leave? You’re really saying ‘fuck you’ to the rest of us. ‘I’ll vote the repubs in, and you deal with them.’ Gee thanks.
Then he went into a spiel about the ERA and really what has it done for women….’blah blah blah’. And I came back with. ‘Yeah, well, the ERA shouldn’t have to exist in the first place. Men and women should be treated the same and have the same rights, period. Women, aren’t second class citizens.’ He came back with , ‘Hey you’re preaching to the choir.’  Uh…’I don’t think so. Your actions are speaking quite louder than your words.’
Then he went on to casually say that Roe v Wade ‘most likely’ wouldn’t ever be turned over. He laughed saying, ‘Look if it happens,  just abstain from having sex and within a week  you’ll get your rights back.’  (hello!) Oh, so now you’re asking us to give up our pleasure too?!  First we lose the rights over our body because of a man, then we are told by a man, that the solution is to abstain from something that gives us pleasure in order to get back out rights.  Now why didn’t I think of that?
We all know that men think with the little head and not the big head most of the time.  Why do you think this world is so fucked up? The pussy has so much power, it’s just too bad the collective pussy doesn’t realize that without us, there would be no man…not continuation of the species. Now there is power…a power worth the swinging dick to worry about. Because to man, the continuation of his species…really his race…is everything.
Politics aside, I have enjoyed this person. He really is no different from the majority of the men out there. But coming from a white man, the most privileged men in this world, it is so easy to joke about something that will never affect him. I have to repeat, ‘It’s so easy to give something up you don’t have.’ You don’t have the worry of losing your rights to choose; losing the rights over your body. You don’t have the worry of whether you are getting paid the same salary as another, or if you’re making less just because you’re a man. You don’t have the worry of…How easily you can give away women’s rights because you as a man have never had any of your rights taken away.
You as a man are so privileged and the mere thought of anyone even suggesting that you would not have the rights over your body would send you through the roof. Hell, what if men were told, ‘There is a new law.  Your wife owns you. You can no longer be free with that thing you swing.  From now on, your pleasure prodder is under lock and key.’ You know, like a chastity belt for men. (Some women once forced to wear these!) Fair? There is a new law. ‘Men are going to get paid less money than women for the same job.’ No reason…just because you are a man. Fair? Now how easy is it to give up something that you don’t have?
**********
Hey ZL:  I was surprised and delighted that you went to mm’s site and signed the letter. Now we’ll just have to wait and see.
Hi Anonz: Usually in games, those who choose not to play the game do not get effected by the game, regardless of the rules or in this case, the lack of rules and regulations. In this game of life, everyone is affected whether they chose to play or not.
And in reality, if we are all players by default, just because we are humans living on this planet with a right to vote, there is rarely a politician in either party that doesn’t have his hand out. Could the public, the lowly players, really have voted in an administration that wasn’t corrupt in some way? Hating the game is one thing but what real choice do the lowly players have when the choices of the games to play are corrupt to begin with?  You know…what is the lesser of two evils?  When Clinton was in office, were you not also making bills?  Will Obama be tempted too because he will have no support otherwise? Only the very rich and connected seem to be the ones that can afford to run for office and if they somehow make it there otherwise, will they too not be tempted to take advantage of the stupid people? What position do we play except to make it easy for those who want power and wealth to gain it. Without the lowly players, there would be no game. All that would be left is a handful of bills fighting amongst themselves for what? Money and power wouldn’t mean much then would it?
Lastly, okay I get that people don’t police themselves. But is there ever a  point that one says, ‘Okay, maybe I created the game…maybe I’m a big player and there are no rules, but I’ve taken enough’? I know you’re thinking, ‘If anyone is going to have all of the control, all of the money, all of the power…it might as well be me.’  I’m so looking forward to seeing exactly what your plans are with your acquired abundance.
Hey Bob:  No one says that you should ‘feel sorry for the greedy bastards that supported the republicans to make a profit at their fellow citizens expense.” What about the ones that didn’t support the greedy republicans? Not everyone voted Republican.
Hi Shelly:  Palin ‘aint’ speakin’ to me. :)
Hello Girls in Space: Sorry I missed your comment the other day. Always good to hear your stories.  Maybe it is time for my ride up there.
       Peace out and always….
Sex and The Ex Politex (Part Deux)
Posted by michellemoquin on 26th September 2008
Oh Anonz:  I’m surprised. You actually commented on something else that I wrote. :) Thanks as it gave me something to write about today.
I think I need to be more clear. I was trying to be light in my write.  ZL got my point. I was using the term ‘slept with’ very loosely…in regards to ‘relationships’. My article was basically about women getting jealous of their mans past ‘relationships’, not what the man said or didn’t say to his current significant. But hey, you took it down a different road – I can hang with that. You did bring up some very valid points and obviously there is a lot to be said here and some areas that need to be addressed.  So I will.
You are absolutely correct. I agree a man should never tell. My statement:  ‘Now let me just preface that I really don’t think it is that stupid for a man to tell his significant other of past women that he has slept with, and especially women that he still has a friendly relationship with’ could’ve been worded to be more clear: ‘I really don’t think it is that stupid for a man to tell his significant other of past women that he was in relationships with’. (There should be no threat – the dirty deed has been done:) However, how he responds to her says it all. If she says, ‘so, I hear you went out with her for awhile?’ He says it casually, like, ‘Yeah we went out for a few years, but it didn’t work.’ That’s cool. But if he says grinning, ‘Yeah, the sex was great but we fought a lot.’ Not cool.
I didn’t mean that it was okay for a man to go off in the mouth about all the women that he slept with to his now current love.  Nor was I referring to a man who is ‘implicitly crowing as his sexual conquests flutter around him in her presence.’ Nor was I talking about revealing such intimate details. Any of the above is very disrespectful and any guy who does this is a cad in my mind too.
I was referring to ‘committed relationships’ when I was speaking of ‘ex’s not just a one-nighter or a casual date.  I was speaking of a ‘relationship’ – I don’t call anyone I have slept with casually an ‘ex’.  I was referring to relationships where it was assumed that the two involved were sexually active. ZL’s party example echos that.  Have you not been in a committed relationship to know the difference between an ‘ex’ and a one-night-stand or do you call all of you sexual relationships ex’s? Maybe men do.  I don’t.  I was not referring to the man who says openly, ‘Yeah I fucked her.’  I was referring to the woman who is really asking a rhetorical question of her man,  or grilling him, or if none was asked, it was jealousy by association.
I was referring to, as in my few cases, when a woman knows that I have been in a past relationship with her now present beau or husband and just decides that she doesn’t want me around anymore because we were in a relationship.  She may not have asked him anything about us. Or knowing we were in a sexual relationship, she may have railed him with questions such as I mentioned which I would hope that he would say, ‘It is none of your business.’ Again, I was using the term ‘slept with’ very loosely…in regards to ‘relationships’.  Maybe, I should’ve been clearer.  Or maybe you were just dying to broach the topic on a different level than I was referring to. Either way, I’ll carry on.
I don’t mean that he literally said to her that he ‘slept with me.’  I hope  that he didn’t just openly volunteer that information whether she asked or not.  In my circumstances, to my knowledge,  I had only one male friend who did tell the woman that he was marrying that we had slept together.  I asked him why she wasn’t that friendly to me and he told me that she knew we slept together.  Perturbed, I asked him why he  brought that up and he said because she asked, and he didn’t want to lie.  Well…ya know sometimes a little lie is the much better than the truth.  He obviously wanted to get a reaction out of her and make himself feel good like, “Yeah, I had her.” And really, I wasn’t so sure that she asked; that he just didn’t volunteer the info to do just that. And however he informed her, either way, I was no longer friends with him after that and their marriage sadly but not surprisingly didn’t last very long.  Had I known any of my male friends were revealing anything intimate about me, I would’ve ended those relationship too, but their significant other did it for me.
Lastly, yes I do have to agree that a man who reveals to his current significant other about other women is not only disrespectful to the woman, unless she okays it.  But if she doesn’t, I realize it can be very damaging to the woman in his current relationship. I can attest to this because I was a very jealous woman in a relationship that I had and rightfully so. He never informed me of women that he had slept with prior to me, but his ‘implicitly crowing’ left  me insecure and jealous all of the time. And the women weren’t ‘smilingly fluttering’ around him. Except for one, his best female friend who swore for years that my jealousy was misdirected. I believed her but found out later my jealous feelings were valid. But besides her, it was his doing, his actions, that gave me the feeling that I was never enough. Thankfully, I don’t own those stupid insecure thoughts anymore. But believe me it took me years to get over them.
FYI:  I think that your male chauvinistic side is showing. I wouldn’t dare give you advice but you might think of how this woman feels when you say, ”She just may not like being part of her cad’s mental harem as ‘you smilingly flutter’ around him.” First of all, I don’t like that you assume that my presence is a flirtatious one.  That I am the cause of the threat because of some action that you presume I am doing or worse just because of the way I look.  Sounds similar to the man who rapes the woman because she was wearing something revealing. ‘It was her fault,’ he claims, ‘She shouldn’t have tempted me.’ Well I’m not a threat just because I happen to be attractive.  ’Blame it on the pretty girl!’
That being said, I don’t ‘smilingly flutter’ around my ex’s. In fact I don’t ‘smilingly flutter’ period. I respect relationships and in no way do I ever try to make an ex’s significant other feel uncomfortable in my presence in any way. And if I know that he has a jealous significant other, I try my best to not add to her insecurity. Maybe because I can relate and I didn’t like it when I was in that position. If she is threatened most likely it is from his actions or something from the past,  not mine. So please don’t include me in the cad’s bad manners.
Okay, now I’m done. Thanks for bringing this up Anonz.  It, like sex, is a topic that was worth diving deeper into.
Readers:  It isn’t that simple. Do you think that all jealousy stems from somewhere?  Do women and men feel jealous because of something in their past or can people feel jealousy when nothing to be jealous of is present?   Comments? Blog me.
Doug: You had me laughing. Please don’t reveal our little secrets of me pretending you were my first…oops did I say that? :)
Oh…I just have to add one last thing: Ellen DeGeneres who is a big animal lover, will be talking about Prop 2 today on her show! Tune in wherever you live.  See ya….
Sex and The Ex Politex
Posted by michellemoquin on 25th September 2008
When the seriousness of politics starts to invade my life and I internalize it, its time for a sex break.  And I don’t mean the act, although that certainly is a release but not what I am about to talk about this morning.
I was talking to a girlfriend the other day who had just thrown her ex-boyfriend from many years ago a 60th birthday party.  How sweet I thought. She went on to say that she is friends with most of her ex’s…that their ‘break-ups’ never lead to animosity and that over the years they even became close friends. Hmm…’not me’, I thought. I don’t speak to any of my ex’s anymore, not one.
Okay, well maybe one or two, if you count pre-sex boyfriends from 2nd and 7th grade.  Every so often if I run into one of them, we’ll have chat and then not speak for another 10 years. I don’t exactly call that a relationship. Oh but I did get a phone call from a high school beau about 6 months ago. We talked like no time had come between us but in reality it had been at least 10 years and it’ll probably be another 10 till we talk again. It’s not that the relationships ended  badly, we just moved on.
And the ones that I did keep in touch with…well…after they got into a serious relationship that turned into marriage, poof!…they disappeared out of my life.  Which brings me to my topic for today, ‘Sex and The Ex Politex’.
There were several men in my life that I dated and in my later years and after we decided to ‘just be friends’, all was great until they got into another relationship and the ‘girlfriend’ or ‘wife to be’ started attaching that ball and chain, and unfortunately they  obliged. Yuck. Our relationships slowly dwindled. Why? Well some of these men were stupid enough to tell their girlfriends/wife-to be’s that they had slept with me.
Now let me just preface that I really don’t think it is that stupid for a man to tell his significant other of past women that he has slept with, and especially women that he still has a friendly relationship with.  But….and this is a big BUT, if  you’re significant other is the jealous type and you feel her reeling you in and preventing you from engaging in your women friendships, then don’t tell her that you slept with me. Big mistake.
However, if you think logically like I do, the question arises: Why  would a woman feel threatened by women who have already slept with her man?   I just don’t get it. I mean the mystery is gone. He’s seen her naked and  he’s had sex with her.  The relationship didn’t work out for whatever reason otherwise they would still be together. The fact that they aren’t says something. To me she would be no threat.
But for some reason women  aren’t logical when it comes to sex and the ex. They visualize their man having sex with their ex and they become obsessed with thought. Is she better? Is she prettier than me? Does she give better head? :) All ego based questions that really mean nothing but the mind will make them into something huge. The mind will make sex, the act, bigger than anything, even the relationship. Not good. Therefore the woman throws on the ol ball and chain, limits access to his women friends to little or none, and feels that her relationship is protected from the past. Ah, okay.
Oh but what about the future? In my mind, if you’re going to feel threatened be threatened by the women out there he hasn’t slept with. They are more of a threat to your relationship than the ones he has slept with.  The curiosity, the mystery is still there.  Hmmm….Well that would mean most of the women in the world.  Oh…a woman doesn’t want to go down that road.  That is just too much to think about. I guess it’s a lot easier to become obsessed with the  past than to worry about the future.  Although some women become obsessed about both. Oooh not good.
Me? No thanks. I choose neither.  Obsessing in useless and ego based thoughts of the past or worry of the future is a waste of time.  I prefer the act…now that is worth indulging in.
