A Peek Into ‘A Morning In the Life Of…’

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 3rd May 2009

Sunday Morning:

I woke up and my only desire was to stay in bed and continue to sleep. I had trouble sleeping all night. And random dreams roamed through my brain morphing every few minutes into another strangeness…

…I wanted to adopt 4 dogs. I was worried about them as the owner would let them sleep on the hood as he drove around town…each one slowly slipping off the hood only to land in the street perfectly fine in a sitting position. I hugged each one, two reminding me of dogs that lived in my heart many years ago….

…I was walking down a bright staircase. I turned the corner only to find another stairway that lead down to a dark room. At the top of the stair, I turned on the light which only dimly lit up the room below. A person in a white space suit covered from head to toe was walking around unconscious of my presence. I felt scared. I didn’t want to be discovered. I turned slowly around to walk back up. My steps were uncertain. I felt as if I was moving in slow motion. I wanted to avoid any confrontation…

However, then I woke up, wishing I had confronted this person. So, I decided to fall back to sleep and see if I could continue this dream. The dream continued, but not as I wished….

…I was ‘working a party’ whatever that means…but I knew that I needed to get there so I rolled up my sleeping bag and wandered into this strange house that was perfectly set up with everything one could desire. So many different rooms…small rooms…with sounds of voices but on one could be seen. I felt as if I was intruding.  It was clear to me that this house was some sort of commune. It was not necessarily my ‘style’ but it was warm and inviting and for some reason had 3 of everything.  I wanted to stay there….I wanted to be part of whatever was going on here…

….My arm…part of the reason I am having trouble sleeping, worked perfectly. I could swing my arm above my head and there was no resistance. Freedom at last. This made me happy.

So there you have it. A peek into ‘a morning in the life of…’Maybe not what you expected to read on my blog but it is all I am capable of this morning.  No time to analyze…my stomach is growling and my mind is fuzzy.

Dare to share a personal peek in your life?  Blog me.

Tap, Tap, Tap….

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 2nd May 2009

I am so happy it is the weekend. I need a bit of pampering.  You know…well at least you women know how much a mani/pedi can uplift one’s state of mind. Although I know some men out there that enjoy this kind of pampering too. I love a man who takes care of himself. Ah…it is the simple things in life that bring such a smile to my face.

And right this moment I am smiling. The rain has cleared the air, and the birds outside my window are chatting away. The sound these two are making I could listen to all day. The sound of nature, the world’s symphony.  So much more relaxing than the sound of technology: me tapping on my keyboard. Like the sound of my walk: fast, hard and purposeful, I’ve been told that I hit the keyboards with the same determination. Not exactly the soothing sounds of singing birds….just me, this little bird, tapping away conversing with you. :)

Speaking of tapping and technology….texting is the big thing these days. The ‘sneaky’ way of having a conversation with no one else privy to the info, except the texter and the one receiving the text. Remember Morse code? Another type of tapping technology, way before texting.  So if one had a contest to get a bit of information from one person to another which do you think would reach it’s destination faster? Texting or Morse code? Would todays’ technology beat out technology from 170 years ago?  Watch the video and you’ll discover yourself.

Hi Robert:  Great to hear from you again. That article you posted was priceless and the responder was brill in his comment. His response was just so logical…I loved it. Too bad this ‘spectacularly beautiful, articulate and classy’ girl didn’t have enough upstairs to figure that one out herself. I’m sure she get it now. Too funny.  Thanks for adding some humor to my day.

Hi Bob: I have tried most of those ‘secret foods’ and have a liking for many of them. The only one that I can’t quite aquire a taste for is the maca. I tried it the first time at one of my fave raw food restaurants “Cafe Gratitude”. They mixed it in a smoothy. It was pretty good and since I had heard that it was really good for me, I decided to buy a package of the maca. Unfortunately 6 months later I still have quite a bit left. I love smoothies but it changes the taste pretty dramatically and kind of ruins my love for fruit smoothies. Hence, the reason I have so much left.  Maybe I’ll give it another go. :)

Hi Martha:  You’re not doing anything wrong.  It is just the luck of the draw I guess. Thanks for the kudos and for the honest appreciation. So girlfriend….I don’t expect everyone to love all of the writes but I do appreciate you being a loyal reader. And I’m glad you get a good laugh every now and then. I do too which I love about my blog. It can get very heavy and a break of laughter is a good antidote for all that is going on these days.

Zen Lill: Mia is doing good – thanks for asking. I still see her almost every day. She is such a love. Happy the little kitty has your daily love too.

Peter & Anna: I am learning so much about Guam through your posts. And I am delighted that your peeps are tuning in too. It makes me laugh when I read that some of your readers wish you had  chosen a more toned down blog site – yep…there is a lot of ‘tone’ being thrown around here. I dig it.  Obviously they must too if they keep reading. And Peter, you are not being rude – I know you appreciate the forum. Hafa adai.

Hi Todd: Caught your comment on ‘Are You Prepared?’ Thanks for the interesting info on the ‘filter straw’.  Very cool. I want to check it out.

Okay peeps…I have more to say but I will reserve it for another day. I need to post so I can pamper :) Peace out…..

To Be Human Is To Be…

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 29th April 2009

The more that I learn about humans, the more I find it ironic that the word ‘humanist’ or ‘humanitarian’ or even the word ‘humane’ contains the word ‘human’. The definition of these words stress the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasizing common human needs and seeking solely rational ways of solving human problems. One who seeks to promote human welfare.  These words evoke compassion, kindness, understanding, forgiving, warmheartedness, etc.  Yet…it seems to me that to be ‘human’ is to be capable of the most heinous crimes in nature.

Interesting huh? Thoughts? Blog me.

Zen Lill:  I remember that you speaking about that. I don’t know if you actually perused the no-limits website but they do have a section on tips for negotiating your salary. I have yet to read it myself but I wanted to give a heads up to all the women readers out there. So thanks for bringing that up.

Also, I’m happy that you are back to blogging!

Al:  So, what’s up? What’s up is you make me laugh.  Your comments, like the range of my topics, are just as amazing.  Thank you for the humor this morning.  So, as far as me knowing…I think it would be much more fun if you just revealed how I know.  I would like to hear you say it…I mean since you do know – right?  Ah Al….and since you are now saying ‘goodbye forever‘ (I just love that word – so romantic), again, I only wish you good health.

A Weekend Of Celebration Continues….

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 26th April 2009

helloo helloooo…

Whew! What a day yesterday. So much fun running into old friends! I absolutely loved it.  Did some of my readers have as much fun as I did? And what about the dance…. Did any of you go last night? I would love to hear how it went. I was urged to go and even a friend of mine said that he would buy me a ticket – so sweet, but I declined. Thank you – you know who you are.

Phillip?:  Hmm…I know you’re not my friend Phil.  Unless you’re trying to be anonymous, but not quite. :) If this is my friend Phil, I so enjoyed seeing you after so many years. When my shoulder is done doing its ‘thing’ I would love to take your Karate lessons in the park! I’ll contact you on Facebook. Yes I have faced off but I take a peek now and then.  If this isn’t Phil, refresh my mind if we know each other, please.

And Saul:  Did you enjoy yourself? Why did you not come up and introduce yourself?  I hope that you had fun!

Anna: Thanks for the congrats!  The celebration was a reunion of so many different graduating classes. It was fun connecting with people outside of my own year.

Readers:  I am diggin’ this banter that I am reading via the comments from yesterday. Brittany, Maria:  I am with you. I love watching Obama’s brilliance too.  Investigate, reveal, and prosecute, prosecute, prosecute.  No one is above the law.  If we  keep voicing our opinions loudly, our president will know that he has our support. Don’t let the repugs try to distract.  We know many will try anything.

Well…I am signing off. I am still celebrating. No the anniversary is over, but Doug’s Birthday is today and we are off to enjoy our most fave breakfast  in the city….and then? Who knows what. Have fun what ever you do!

Happy Birthday Doug!

Don’t Forget To Read The Comments Too

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 17th April 2009

Wow. It is going to take me the weekend to sift through all of the comments. My blog is turning out to be a wealth of information….and definitely not always from me. I love what this blog is turning in to. I feel like, thanks to all of you commentators, people can tune in and get the most current of what is happening around the world. I love that this blog is not about one specific topic but any topic that is of interest, from the latest in politics, to great one-liners. Thanks ‘bachelor’ & ‘bachelorette’. Here’s one for you:

“All discarded lovers should be given a second chance, but with somebody else. ” – Mae West

Back to the subject at hand…I used to feel, and still somewhat do but not as much, that I needed to respond to every comment. But now the comments are not necessarily just to me – some are, which is fine, and I’m delighted to respond – but most of you are conversing to everyone and anyone reading. It take the pressure off of me a bit and more importantly, it gets news out that people feel is important.

I feel like my blog is a one-stop-shop for brain food. I hope that is okay to say that, ’cause I feel that way. I mean, the comments whet my appetite and encourage me to look for more so that I can sink my teeth into something that I really want to chew on. So thank you all so very much for contributing to making this blog a destination for so many.

To those of you that may only read my articles and not the comments, I encourage you to read the comments. If you are only reading my writes, you are getting only half the joy of being on my blog. You are so missing out. I say this because I have heard from a few friends that they enjoy my writes and when I mention the comments, they have expressed that they didn’t know where the comments were or how to leave one. That surprised me, but I guess if you are a ‘newbie’ to blog reading, you might not know that you need to click on ‘comments’ in order to see them, and to leave one.

So just to be clear to any blog ‘newbies’: At the very bottom of my write, directly below my photo you will see in ‘orange’:  The category that the article is posted in, and the word ‘comments’.  If any comments have been posted, the number of comments will precede the word ‘comments’.  If you want to read or leave a comment click on the word ‘comment’.  Simple. So don’t miss out; read the comments too. They are a vital part of this blog.

And with that, I will end it with: Happy Friday! I look forward to reading your writes on whatever subject whets your appetite!”
